Prominent Saudi Cleric Declares Holocaust An Exaggeration and Details Allegation That Jews Drinking The Blood of Children

Prominent Saudi cleric Salman Al-Odeh is reportedly shown in this video not just questioning the scope of the Holocaust but repeating the ancient anti-Semitic “blood libel” claim that Jews drink the blood of children. This story is based on a translation supplied by a couple of sites and cannot be verified by this blog. Perhaps one of our readers can address its accuracy.

Salman Al-Odeh a leading “scholar” reportedly explains how “the role of the Jews is to wreak destruction, to wage war, and to practice deception and extortion.” He is then translated saying that

“It is well known that the Jews celebrate several holidays, one of which is the Passover, or the matzos holiday. I read once about a doctor who was working in a laboratory. This doctor lived with a Jewish family. One day, they said to him: ‘We want blood. Get us some human blood.’ He was confused. He didn’t know what this was all about,” Al-Odeh says as the interviewer nods along. “He found that they were making matzos with human blood. They eat it, believing that this brings them close to their false god, Yahweh.”

He is quoted as adding that the Jewish people “would lure a child in order to sacrifice him in the religious rite that they perform during that holiday.” Here is an idea. Why not identify the doctor who can identify the alleged perpetrators? Clearly, neither the cleric nor the doctor want to protect the alleged culprit. We can then prove to the world that this blood libel is nothing more than a knowing falsehood perpetrated by anti-Semites.

If the translation is accurate, it is a truly shocking display of raw anti-Semitism and ignorance — even for part of the world known for extremism.

  1. nick,

You think you’re fooling people into thinking you’re something other than a low grade propaganda troll.

    That’s really funny.

  2. The cleric is no big surprise and he is no great shakes either. Whosoever chooses to believe some crap like this is a person who wants to have a good “excuse” for bizarre, stupid and inhuman conduct, by speech or other.

But the Holocaust deniers have been doing something that, while appalling, is interesting. They have been trying to revilify Jews in greater ways than in the past in order to overcome the common “hatred equation” in their favor. In other words, everyone normal is required to hate the perpetrators of the Holocaust, which out-does the previously comfortable hatred of the Jews. Then, to revitalize the hatred of the Jews (which seems so essential to some peoples’ self-esteem, strangely enough), one must change the equation by two simultaneous efforts:

1 – Deny the Holocaust; but
2 – Show how the Jews deserved it.

A few years back I was speaking with a lawyer who was defending a woman who was accused of a crime against her ex-husband. He was interested in showing the jury how bad the husband really was. I said that would backfire because it tended to support the idea that the ex-wife had every reason in the world to commit the crime charged!

He wanted to say, “she didn’t do it but surely she should have.”

(My belief was that she did not in fact do it but that she should NOT have.)

Anyway, this stuff is so old — as old as the damn blood libel — and I’m so tired of it. I think I’ll go bake some matza —

    dahn da dahn dahn…….

  3. Mike is a very just and empathatic ecumenical historian ; Nick, these moneyed plates are emotionally and ethically misplaced . “On our shew” Ed Sullival asked us to “give them a hand ” . A musical group in the 1960’s took Ed Sullivan’s odd stilted way of speaking to a more specific empathetic level to “give a damn about for our fellow man ” .
Fundamendalism is the problem for some erratically behaved groups.

“Sticks and stones ” are echoes of a phrase used by generations of children to learn from each other. Vicious ethnic hatred is childish . This horrible blood libel is as nonsensical and terrifying as the belief that since a Jewish psychopath caused Jesus’ death the Jews have Jesus blood to atone for. The Vatican has officially released the Jews from this historical guilt by discouraging thoughtless interpretation of Scriptures.

Why do some bloggers think that they have the defining insult ? Every one thinks the next day how to improve the mistakes of the day before .

  4. Gene, I feel guilty regarding you. I feel like I’m shooting fish in a barrell. There is a huge difference between First amendment SPEECH and SHOOTING someone. I’m off to Chicago for a pleasant weekend w/. sane folks. Air and Water Show, Frank Lloyd Wright tour, play. No politics, no faux intellectuals, just good food, friends. There’s a big world out there. Since you NEVER have any real world experience to relate, I wonder if you even have a life. Enjoy your weekend.

  5. nick,

“I went back to that Chinese child rape thread and tried to find the “empathy” you claim to have for that little girl.”

I’ve already stipulated I did not address the rape victim on that thread. Absences of a statement of empathy is not evidence of an absence of empathy, merely evidence of absence of a statement. I addressed her mother with empathy, which is who the story was about. But you keep trying to sell that lie and trying to shift the subject.

    It looks good on you.

  6. No one is above selective portrayal of the parties involved either.

Tony Perkins, Family Research Council President, Pins Shooting Blame On ‘Reckless’ Southern Poverty Law Center

“WASHINGTON — As authorities revealed details about the Family Research Council shooting, the head of the influential conservative organization blamed the attack on “reckless rhetoric,” but then delivered his own politically-charged remark, saying critics gave the accused gunman “a license to shoot an unarmed man.”

Tony Perkins’ comments Thursday fanned already-inflamed statements from both sides, tapped into deep divisions over abortion and gay marriage, and drew more finger-pointing.

Meanwhile, the accused shooter, Floyd Lee Corkins II, was ordered held without bond on accusations he opened fire a day earlier inside the lobby of the council’s headquarters. Corkins, whose parents said he strongly supported gay rights, had a backpack full of Chick-fil-A sandwiches and a box of ammunition when he said words to the effect of “I don’t like your politics” and shot a security guard, authorities said.

The guard was shot in the left arm but nonetheless managed to help take down the gunman, preventing what the police said could have been a deadly attack.

It wasn’t immediately clear why Corkins, 28, had the chicken sandwiches.

The Family Research Council has steadfastly supported the president of Chick-Fil-A and his staunch opposition to same-sex marriage, a stance that has placed the fast-food chain at the center of a hot-button national cultural debate.

The organization strongly opposes gay marriage and abortion and says it advocates “faith, family and freedom in public policy and public opinion.” The conservative group maintains a powerful lobbying presence, testifying before Congress and reviewing legislation.

While blaming Corkins for the shooting, Perkins also faulted the Southern Poverty Law Center, an Alabama-based civil rights organization that tracks and litigates against hate groups. The law center labeled the council a hate group in 2010 for what it called the organization’s anti-gay stance.

“Corkins was given a license to shoot an unarmed man by organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center that have been reckless in labeling organization hate groups because they disagree with them on public policy,” Perkins said.

Mark Potok, a senior fellow at the SPLC, called Perkins’ accusation “outrageous.” He said the council earned the designation for spreading false propaganda about the gay community, not for its opposition to same-sex marriage.

“The FRC routinely pushes out demonizing claims that gay people are child molesters and worse – claims that are provably false,” he said in a statement. “It should stop the demonization and affirm the dignity of all people.”

Corkins had recently been volunteering at a D.C. community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. He lived with his parents in Herndon, Va., and appearing in court Thursday with what looked to be a black or swollen eye, told a federal magistrate that he had only $300.

Prosecutors requested a mental health evaluation, and Corkins’ public defender did not address the allegations in court.

Corkins faces charges of assault with intent to kill and bringing firearms across state. The judge ordered him held pending a hearing next week. Corkins was otherwise silent during the hearing and stared ahead impassively.

His parents have also not commented, but they told FBI agents that their son “has strong opinions with respect to those he believes do not treat homosexuals in a fair manner.”

The assault charge carries up to 30 years in prison and the weapons charge has a 10-year maximum sentence.

Corkins received a master’s degree in 2006 from George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development in Fairfax. He earlier attended Grace Brethren Christian School near Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington.

The shooting was condemned by President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, as well as gay and lesbian advocacy groups and conservative organizations.

But there was no swift sign of reconciliation across the ideological spectrum.

“Perkins cannot be allowed to exploit the sympathy rightfully generated by this inexcusable crime to whitewash his group’s ongoing anti-gay activities. If the FRC wants to stop being labeled a hate group, it must stop doing and saying hateful things,” Wayne Besen, the founding executive director of Truth Wins Out, a non-profit group that fights anti-gay sentiment, said in a statement.

Authorities believe Corkins parked his car at a northern Virginia Metro station and used public transportation to get downtown. An open black box resembling a gun box was found on the car’s passenger seat, an affidavit said. Corkins used a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol that was legally bought and owned, said Richard Marianos, special agent in charge of the ATF’s Washington field office.

The guard, Leonardo “Leo” Johnson, 46, was resting comfortably at a hospital Thursday morning. He told WJLA-TV that Corkins claimed he had come to the council’s office to interview for an internship.

Johnson’s mother, Virginia Johnson, said she had not been to visit him but had spoken to him by phone.

“He said he feels very well,” she said in a brief interview. “I am proud of him, very proud of him.”

    __________

No mention that the po’ lil’ “Christians” in this instance are a bunch of homophobic hate mongering theocrats themselves. Just that nasty ol’ hateful gay supporting shooter. No wonder your name has “spin” in it.

  7. You know Gene, you are the person always asking for “evidence.” And some folks tell me I just need to understand you’re the smartest person in the room. With that in mind, I went back to that Chinese child rape thread and tried to find the “empathy” you claim to have for that little girl. Can you or any of your serfs find me the evidence. I see where you expressed POLITICAL support for her mother..but I just don’t see ANYTHING about the girl. When everything is political, we lose our humanity. of course, in your case that’s maybe assuming a fact not in evidence. Please don’t throw the F bomb as you did last night. This is daytime, your kids might be reading.

  8. Thanks Frankly, It was mostly hatred, simulated or real, until you spoke.
Since we must frankly (no pun) admit that hatred is carefully cultivated to control us, I wonder why we fall for this propaganda.

And when did Memri become a non-reliable source. The last time it was cited here it was said to be Israeli dominated but reliable. ??????

The cleric is doing his function. What else is new? What do the Baptists say about the Unitarians? How much truth do you really feel that MSM gives you from the area? As one pointed out, the blood libel originates with the Christians. Etc etc. It is all very complicated. Hate does not clear the mind.

Jews made a mockery of Mohammed in Medina, that is recorded in the Koran. Muslims permitted non-believers including jews to practive their religions in their ME military conquered territories against an extra tax.
    Nothing is black and white.

How many muslims believe in this BS?

Asked my cleaning lady, who just came back from what she proudly calls Kurdistan, about how her family was divided on religion. In her case only her mother was a believer. True for women in general, No, neither sex prefers religion or believes in it. Women wear what they want there. If they have a shawl it is their own decision she says.

Let us not judge all societies after their extremists.
There are many good people in Saudi, I knew a few.
None were camelhumpers. But would not trust them all with a sheep. But that goes in some states here too.

  9. This may not be on the reading lists of folks here but Floyd Lee Corkins walked into a Christian Council building and shot an unarmed man. He is a gay activist and had a bunch of Chick Fil A sandwiches in his backpack. Some here may think it’s just “the chickens come home to roost.” I just look upon it as hate. No one is immune to or above hate. It’s everywhere and growing.

  10. The real problem is the ”Civilized” Human being…. Oh, what a nice place the Earth would be without them!

  11. nick,

Oooo. Trying so hard to think and it’s just not working out for you. How are those diapers working out for you? For maximum effectiveness, you really do need to change them when they are full.

  12. Frankly,

Anti-arab is not the equivalent of anti-Saudi. Ignorance in the populace is not the same thing as evidence of anti-Arab propaganda. You said, “American kids are already being told that about all Arabs, there is even an entire ‘news’ network that pushes those lies.” I asked for specific examples of the media bias you referenced. Not all ignorance is rooted in media nor is what you point to necessarily rooted in racial stereotyping but in religious stereotyping. A large part of the ignorance in the population about Arabs isn’t rooted in their misconceptions and ignorance about Arabs, but in misconceptions and ignorance of Islam – which there is a ton of that in the media. Not all Islamic practice, just like all Christian and Judaic practice, are created equal. Their are fundamentalist loons in all of them. The Wahabists who control Saudi Arabia just happen to fall in to that category. But anti-Arab and specifically anti-Saudi propaganda in the media? I just haven’t seen it. Some anti-Arab stuff, sure, from the fringe media, but by in large the MSM kisses Saudi Arabia’s ass.

  13. Frankly,

If you read the heart story of America….. It was founded on freedom of religion……. With that concept in mind…. When people get involved…… Nothing is the way the architectures described…….Wasn’t JFKs religion an issue? How many catholic churches do you see in Iran…. How many episcopal churches do you know of in England….. How about salt lake city…… People are hated or disliked because of affiliations……. It didn’t just start in 2001…… It’s been going on since the acknowledgment of mankind…..the truth is in varying degrees the truth….. It’s what you think is the truth…. That is your truth…

  14. In an idealogues mind thinking=thinking like me. Did you get those clothes, Oh, Emporer Gene? The sycophants don’t see you need them, but free thinkers do.

  15. And we had the post on the Hungarian anti-semitism the other day.
When the world goes bad for some reason the jews are the first ones to be named as the cause (and then many of the “others”.)

  16. Nice try Gene. Just try reading the comments on this post without an anti-arab prejudice to start with and you can see a couple of fine examples of the genre. Why would a guy shoot up a temple full of people with beards & turbans? Why do the bigots in several states deny Muslims the right to build a place of worship? Those are not accidents. Those are the result of the blind ignorance promoted by people who assume that since there is a small cadre of crackpots professing a religion neither understands ALL people of that type are guilty. AS if Jerry Jones and Pat Robertson and Tim McVey represent all Christians & Christian theology.

  17. Hey, at least you are trying to think which is a vast improvement from yesterday.

    Baby steps, nick, baby steps.

  18. Mike Spindel, Good take. In addition, the Saudis have their own domestic plates they need to keep spinning on sticks[Ed Sullivan reference]. They have radicals that must be appeased and distracted, a tough balancing act that they have been able to pull off, to date. When those plates start falling. the sh$t will really hit the fan.

  19. Fundamentalism breeds hatred. Fundamentalism’s ascendency was the bargain made by the Saudi line of monarchs to cement their hold on a country in which they were originally foreigners. To maintain a feudal state in this era of mass communication, rulers need to distract their subjects with hatred of the outsiders, so they won’t look inward at their own miserable condition. The Saudi Royal family are hardly religiously fanatics, yet they must appease those fanatics the Wasabi’s, who put them in power and use them to keep the masses ignorant.

The “blood libel” against Jews was originally a Christian invention and came about for similar reasons. However, it always comes back to the fact that Fundamentalist belief in all religions is always the tool of autocrats, be they rulers or preachers. To pretend that that the interpreted words of the Deity (take your choice) are immutable, is to allow for no dissent and blind obedience. Those exact conditions are needed for autocratic rule.

When it comes to the Saudi’s and the power their wealth has bred, the truth is that since the 1940’s they have been America’s chief ally in the Middle East. They have also fomented a good deal of the problems there. Yet it is necessary for them and for us to see Israel as the focus of the problem and now of late Iran. It is all the distraction of myth in the service of propaganda. This anti-Jewish mewling has actually been a fact of life in the Middle East for many a year. It serves many purposes for the Oil Cartel and for the geopolitical game players who see foreign policy as the “Great Game” to be played by the minions of the privileged classes in the interests of maintaining their power.
