Mugabe however went with none of the above and instead lashed out at homosexuality, which he described as filthy, filthy disease.”
The 89-year-old president urged people to “damn” homosexuality and warned them that homosexuality “destroys nations, apart from it being a filthy, filthy disease.” Mugabe has made gays the focus of his public remarks, declaring them “worse than pigs, goats, and birds.” Of course the destruction of his own country by his own hand is almost complete. The country has only a couple hundred dollars in the bank while his wife and family spends lavishly on themselves.
By getting people to hate gays, Mugabe clearly hopes that they will not be thinking of the billions that he and his family has squandered. For most Zimbabweans, it is the Mugabe family that is the filthy disease destroying their name.

As stated above, Mr. Mugabe has earned whatever denigrating label you want to put on him, as outlined in the definition produced by OS. He is sub-human in his beliefs and activities.

Gay people are not the threat you have invented. They do not have the numbers. Calling them diseased is not going to change that.
You feel threatened because you were attacked, and this contributes to the ugly hatred you have toward gay people.
Can you acknowledge any connection — any whatsoever — between your ugly words, spoken by you and your forebears for centuries, and the lives you would like gay people to live? You don’t see how calling a young person diseased all their lives might lead to problems later on? They know they are no such thing. Yet David, because he was “attacked,” gets to claim all gay people are diseased, case closed.
If it were a choice, why would any gay person come out, knowing they would have to listen to messages such as yours, and just take it?
Well, no more. Your institutional bully has fled, and all that is left is your ugly words, spoken because you were attacked and cannot (or will not) get the help you so clearly need.

Jean, While I disagree w/ some of what you say, I greatly appreciate your non PC candor. I’m guessing you live in the San Diego area and your house is looking like a circus tent. When I walk around Mission and Pacific Beach I see the bagged homes. I spoke w/ a guy who was getting his house ready to be bagged for termites. What a pain in the butt! Regarding the avocado’s. I don’t know if it will make you feel any better, but there are avocado orchard owners who get literally wiped out by thieves, most of them from Mexico. They’ll hit an orchard w/ many pickers and trucks. They’ll clean the orchard out and then sell their wares in the US and Mexico @ discount prices to unscrupulous vendors. With avocado’s become a hot commodity for their taste and nutrition, it’s caused orchard owners to hire companies w/ armed guards for the weeks just prior to picking season. Take care, and try and laugh.
Nick, that is exactly true and we have seen it work out that way each and every time a society has dehumanized the “other”, When this happens we have lost our own humanity.
Darren, Nick is also correct to point out that it’s hard not to go certain places because some things are truly repulsive to us.
Darren, It’s not about Mugabe, it’s about you. I say this as a person who admires many of the things you have written about. There has to be lines you personally will not cross. Just as in terrorism, there must be things one stands for, no matter what. In that case, we hold fast to the Constitution. It informs us of those lines and we citizens don’t back down from it. As individuals, no matter what someone else has done, we must stand firm in having values we will not give up, ever.
Then call Mugabe a murderer, not a disease. I can’t speak for Jill, but I think that’s her point. A murderer is a “person”..a bad person, but a person nonetheless.. Dehumanizing someone makes it easier for you to be inhuman yourself.
Call Robert Mugabe whatever you want, he has earned whatever pejorative he is labelled. When Mugabe calls innocent gay people a disease, he also then invites to be called the same especially after all the murder that he had permitted to occur against political opponents during prior elections and his wholesale rape of his own citizens and the nation’s treasury.
To be persecuted for how you were born into this life is simply unjust. I am a white woman who is probably a snob because I like to be with people who say please and thank you and pardon me. I work everyday of my life to be gracious and care for those who are in trouble. I am not gay and I personally do not understand the life style and I keep it to myself that the act of same sex people having sex is repugnant to me. So does that mean there is something wrong with me? Do I want gay people damned? NO! I would be happy to share a pizza with a gay person and I find that in my tiny world gays and smokers seem to be able to laugh and be far more light hearted at work then others. Just an observation. What bothers me is the in your face gays who are basically telling me if I don’t like it I can go blank myself. Samething for the gangsta wrap crowd. I have worked hard all my life, paid more then my share of taxes but why do I have to pay for those who do not work? I have no problem helping those in need through no fault of their own but why do I have to pay for the lazy dead beats or for all the men who make babies and make tracks? Why do I have to pay for cell phones for those who cannot afford them? Why do I have to pay for illegals who have come here and want me to pay for there children’s education? Am I a horrible person because I am upset to see the changes in my city (a sanctuary city) that has had to close hospitals because they could not sustain them? I have a huge avocado tree in my front yard and as I do my dishes I look out the window and what do I see but someone with a bag helping themselves to my avocados (now, I do not have enough to have with my light cold beer and chips while watching football.) I cannot communicate with these fruit pickers because they do not speak English…but it is obvious to me that they feel intiltled to pick what they want. I keep waiting for an invite to their home for chips and guacamole….but I guess they do not consider me a worthy neighbor!
GEE, did I get off track or what…I guess I am in just one of those moods to flap my lips and let my true feelings out…..Partly because I am all alone laying on my bed with my ipad (paid for it myself) and my german shepherd who is a real beauty. We are in a Motel 6 because my house is being fumigated for termites. My Allstate insurance won’t pay for anything….maybe if i tell them….how much I give….nay probably not! in closing may I add I believe in the American Constitution and we have the right to pursue our happiness…but you have to earn it…not expect it to be handed to you…have a nice day…life is just unfair when little bugs eat your house while your working hard!

Jill, Thanks, much. In many respects it’s a gender difference. We men have this hormone called testosterone that can override our good sense @ times. That’s not an excuse. I strongly believe women provide that balance, as you just did so well. That’s why all male institutions are not a good idea[See: Catholic Church!].
