  1. The laws laid forth to Moses were to show a people they could not by works be holy. 4,000 years ago…. They could not follow all 613 laws. Jesus fulfilled the law, the Mosaic law.

        1. John – the Messiah is actually a war leader, not a religious leader. Which is why the Jews are still looking for their Messiah. Jesus was cruxified for treason (pretending to be King of the Jews) not for heresy (which would have required stoning).

                    1. John – I am well aware of why the Jews could not put him to death, because they would have had to convict him of heresy. However, the Romans could put him to death for treason as ‘King of the Jews’ since they had already appointed a King of the Jews.

  2. If a corporation has a religious position on contraceptive use, I suggest the corporation itself not use them just as others who hold that contraception is improper should not use them.

    As for paying for it through edict or with taxes, what’s new. Every single church exemption is a taking of my money and giving it to a church. Every single clergyman is taking money from my pocket. Government “War’s on X” from poverty, to drugs, to Afghanistan, to Iraq, if a government declares war (literal or metaphorical) count it as a loss. Financial and human and social loss in all respects.

    1. George – you cannot lose what you didn’t have. It is the government taking money out of your pocket, not anyone else. Place the blame where it belongs.

  5. John – Please keep in mind, that book you quote also peaches that slavery–including selling one’s daughter as a sex slave–is acceptable.

Most of the ardent pro-lifers that I’ve met are quite content with making war, withholding food stamps and other life saving elements of the safety net, and in executing people, even the not guilty. So much hate. Many of them consider themselves Christian but they totally ignore the message of Jesus.

    What I find amazing is the Pro-Birthers refusing to open their homes up to unwanted children. There they can find their calling. But to stand in front of a health clinic and shove their rhetoric and hate into the faces of distressed women is nothing but cold and callous.

  15. Annie, They are already doing it, but the effects would be magnified. Limited access to contraceptives, limited, and in some cases no, access to abortion servives, we’re already on the way. And it isn’t just illegitimate (geesh, I hate that word) babies. Many married women, those who can’t support another child, those where there is something wrong with the fetus, those who were raped, are among those who make the difficult choice for an abortion. Many of them need financial and emotional help to deal with another child that they really didn’t want.

  18. Excellent lampoon of Hobby Lobby. When a corporation can be baptized or celebrate their First Communion or Confirmation, then maybe they can have the same rights as a person.
