A series of videos of Baptist pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona have gone viral as he talks about the solution of AIDS being the exterminations of all homosexuals and bisexual citizens. He explained that AIDS could be solved by Christmas with a simple holocaust for homosexuals. The videos are below.
Anderson takes off on this sermon to recognize “AIDS Awareness Day.” That led to his sermon entitled “AIDS: The Judgement of God” where he explains that Leviticus 20:13 compels the faithful to kill gay, lesbians, and bisexuals. He explains that, in his reading of the section, “I actually discovered the cure for AIDS.” Here is the thrust of his solution:
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.”
Anderson added
“And that, my friend, is the cure for AIDS. It was right there in the Bible all along — and they’re out spending billions of dollars in research and testing. It’s curable — right there. Because if you executed the homos like God recommends, you wouldn’t have all this AIDS running rampant.”
What is chilling that Anderson refers to how many kids are in the audience as he spews this hateful sermon, including teaching them that “all homos are pedophiles” and screaming “No homos will ever be allowed in this church as long as I am pastor here.”
Anderson previously attracted attention by explaining why women have to be entirely silent in church. Not even an amen:
If your stomach can take it, here is the full sermon:

Max, if you have data that disprove the 140-times increased HIV risk due to nature of anal sex, I’m all ears.

God Loves Uganda. I challenge you conservatives to watch this documentary, but I doubt you will.
No one said thay EVERY Fundamentalist preacher is as extreme as this bozo in Arizona. But seriously do you not realize just WHO is influencing and empowering preachers such as this man? You don’t understand the undercurrent of homophobia that runs rampant in the religious right? I’d say that was irrational and wifully blind.
You did make a sweeping generalization about conservatives as a whole in that they were not adequately condemning Pastor Anderson’s homophobia and therefore they uniformly are complicit in their support of him and others similarly opinionated via omission of protest.
Furthermore, it is also a fallacy to believe that because everyone in a particular branch of Christianity doesn’t take to the streets and actively protest this pastor’s actions that they regard him as relevant enough to garner their attention. Even if he and others are so prominent that there is this assumption they control and influence everyone it is not evident that they control everyone’s ideas with regard to any diverse religion. Many likely do not view these individual pastors being relevant by any means because others recognize that it is pointless to spend the entirety of one’s thoughts or actions toward the complete elimination of their kind from America, because there is always going to be someone else that will have crazy beliefs that will take their place. Additionally doing so provides the fringe elements with a lot of power by concentrating all efforts to confront them, which confrontation is usually which, as I have said before, feeds their appetite for national attention.
Another approach that is probably more effective is to educate people to be accepting of the others these fringe charlatans condemn so solemnly. The better society in general accepts, as in this article, gay individuals the less likely they are to be attracted to the teachings of Pastor Anderson.
The notion that Pastor Anderson represents the entirety of conservatives is neither accurate nor logical. It is also inaccurate to assume such of every fundamentalist religious person in the United States, as has effectively been proffered here.
Moreover, I don’t see how anyone can claim to have the clairvoyance to be able to see that within every church, mosque, or temple individuals act in a unified manner with a complete consensus of their thoughts among them and through expansion to every other religious organization within the country; much less expect there to be no disproval of what Pastor Anderson preaches.
The same can be said of each person belonging to any particular religion, politically labeled as liberal, conservative, libertarian, or authoritarian.
When talking about a nation of over three hundred million individuals having absolute polar claims is being simplistic, and rather closed to any understanding or empathy for what others may believe or their perspective.
Squeeky, read the three or four links I posted above if you want to know about what Scott Lively has been up to around the world. But knowing your dislike of homosexuals you may be in agreement with what he proposes and the heads of state he has been influential with regarding anti gay laws that are condemned by human rights advocates around the world.
There seem to be a lot of people in this thread that are upset about this holy man’s church being tax exempt. It’s as if his message would be OK as long as he had to pay taxes.
That he is able to clearly state his message is a great thing. It enables everyone to know exactly what he and his followers are all about. Far better that he be known than if he lurked in shadows unknown.
Who knows how much blood is on the hands of this holy man, but there is blood on the hands of every American that votes, regardless of who they vote for. Adults generally know they can’t control the behavior of other people, but they can control their own behavior. Think about that the next time some young person, gay or straight, gets killed in the street, in America or elsewhere, by an American thug working as an enforcer for some politician you voted for.
@Inga
I never paid any attention to Scott Lively. What has he said that is bad??? I he simply against the gay agenda??? If so, that is hardly either hate or homophobia.
BTW, since these comments began 9 hours ago, 31 1/2 gay men have been infected with HIV by their gay lovers. How many gay men has either of these preachers hurt in the last 9 hours??? Sooo, I will repeat my question above:

You see, you can’t absove yourself of the bigotry of the religious right by condemning this ONE pastor. There are MORE, far more dangerous and influential than he is, so no prizes for you conservatives today. That none of you even knew who Scott Lively is speaks for your weak condemnation attempts. You don’t get absolution.
Karen, it’s just too easy to condem this two bit pastor. As I asked earlier, where is the condemnation of the religious right pastors like Scott Lively? Why the silence? You folks agree with this international homophobic preacher who influenced governments to institute anti gay laws in Africa and even Russia? Do you people even care?
Inga – if Obama cannot influence Russia, how is a pastor from Tempe, AZ going to do it? Really, think this through.
Paul, for pity sake. Please do try to keep up. It’s not that doofus from Arizona who has influenced African heads of state and yes even Russian, it is SCOTT LIVELY. Again you comment without reading the links I provided from he NYT, WaPo, Mother Jones. Paul you need to start reading links before commenting about what others are speaking of, then you wouldn’t get so many things wrong.
Inga – if you would link to sources less leftist, I would read them. I don’t know who Scott Lively is and I really don’t care.
Remember the days when “science” and “stats” were used to keep peoe down through the ages… Think Jew. Think Gypsy. Think homosexual. Circa 1940.
How’d that work out?
Max-1 – once you mention Hitler you lose the argument.
This “pastor” has been universally condemned on this thread, and yet there are those who still insist on making this a divisive issue. Well, in their own minds, at least . . .
Even when there is common ground and mutual agreement, people still do their best to create strife and discord.

I don’t hate science… I dislike bigotry.
You can use science, religion, statistics, what have you…
Bigotry is bigotry regardless of how it is gift wrapped.
Max-1 – I think you are finding bigotry where there is none. You are super sensitive right now on this issue.
@Pogo
Sadly, it is not just HIV that men who sex with men have disproportionately higher rates of. It is all STD’s.

Again, how do blood centers screen out people who lie about their sexual history?

“Are you seriously saying that a gay couple is more likely to infect a blood supply that is regularly tested after ever donation than a straight person who just slept with the third booker this week?”
Blood banks deny donors who pay for sex, the same as gay sex.
But yes, the gay sex is riskier in terms of HIV.
Max:
Another problem with the testing of blood products for transfusions is that it relies on a quantifiable level of antibodies to HIV for a positive result. I do not believe they use PCR now for testing of all blood donations, but I could be wrong. That is more accurate, but still requires a quantifiable level of DNA.
So if a donor is infected, but has not mounted a high enough level of antibodies in defense, that blood donation would go through.
Unfortunately, for some reason, people donate blood as a means to get an HIV test, without having to actually ask for that test specifically. That’s not a good prospect for recipients. I also oppose paying for blood donations, as you’re not going to get the healthiest population.
Max hates science and statistics.
Eat my socks, LOL! Ok that was funny. Sorry I apologize to anyone who took offense at criticizing Squeek’s ugly sockpuppets.
Now it would be nice to get back on topic. Don’t want DBQ to chastise anyone. I’m watching the huge protests in New York on LiveStream. I’ll leave you folks to feel all abused by yourselves, lol.
Naw Squeekers, if/ when I use sockpuppets again they will be much cuter than those.
