“I Actually Discovered the Cure for AIDS”: Arizona Pastor Reveals Biblically Based Plan For An “AIDS-Free World by Christmas”

Screen Shot 2014-12-03 at 12.26.44 PMA series of videos of Baptist pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona have gone viral as he talks about the solution of AIDS being the exterminations of all homosexuals and bisexual citizens. He explained that AIDS could be solved by Christmas with a simple holocaust for homosexuals. The videos are below.

Anderson takes off on this sermon to recognize “AIDS Awareness Day.” That led to his sermon entitled “AIDS: The Judgement of God” where he explains that Leviticus 20:13 compels the faithful to kill gay, lesbians, and bisexuals. He explains that, in his reading of the section, “I actually discovered the cure for AIDS.” Here is the thrust of his solution:

steveI.D_400x400

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.”

Anderson added

“And that, my friend, is the cure for AIDS. It was right there in the Bible all along — and they’re out spending billions of dollars in research and testing. It’s curable — right there. Because if you executed the homos like God recommends, you wouldn’t have all this AIDS running rampant.”

What is chilling that Anderson refers to how many kids are in the audience as he spews this hateful sermon, including teaching them that “all homos are pedophiles” and screaming “No homos will ever be allowed in this church as long as I am pastor here.”

Anderson previously attracted attention by explaining why women have to be entirely silent in church. Not even an amen:

If your stomach can take it, here is the full sermon:

  1. If during the Bush years when JT used to appear on Olberman quite often, if anyone would’ve told me that his blog would turn into ths conservative swampland, I would’ve said they were crazy. I came here to get away from the swampland of Althouse, only to find that the vines, stink and murky waters have invaded RIL.

    1. Inga – if you are having problems with the ‘swampland’ of RIL, I am sure they would be happy to have you at Flowers.

      1. Paul, it’s not your place to suggest that other commenters either leave RIL, or got to Flowers.

        1. Inga – early you were commenting on the right to comment. I am sure that applies to me as well. I just want you to be happy. If you are not happy on this site Flowers would suit you well.

  2. Whoa, “contrived opinions”? Oily, in that comment you sound JUST like this pastor from Arizona who says women should shut up during the service, during the “lesson”.

    1. Inga – why are women talking during the ‘lesson’? And since the lesson is the crux of the religious service, they should shut up.

      1. Paul,
They were saying “Amen!” along with the men in the congregation. WHY are you commenting about something you didn’t bother to educate yourself about? You didn’t watch any of the videos JT posted, did you? Aren’t you getting embarrassed?

        1. Inga – why are you so interested in my opinions? Feeling bad about being number 2?

  3. Oily, I have absolutely no qualms about people challenging me. I was a commenter on an even more conservative blog than this one for almost three years. I was challenged daily and I withstood the onslaught. If you think that your challenging me bothers me, let me set you steight. It does not. However, you seem put out by the fact that I pointed out that this preacher is just the tip of the religious right iceberg. I know that’s not a popular idea. It should/could challenge you to look into WHO is influencing right wing politics and why.

  4. Karen,
😀 We had an Advent service this evening with the sermon on Frustration. The message is that God has inflicted this world with all kinds of things that frustrate us so that we can strive to become better Christians and enjoy eternity without frustration. Your comment made laugh because it reminded me her vitriol is a blessing to the kingdom of heaven.

    1. Olly – it is not God’s fault, it is Pandora’s. When she released all the evils into the world, all that was left in the jar was Hope.

  5. Darren,
Good post. I made a comment earlier that this was a topic we could all be in accord on but apparently one person isn’t down with that. Here is some of her irrational commentary:

“Differing opinions is what made this blog interesting. We see much less of that nowadays, which is not a positive thing. And when we do have a few that express differing opinions there are those who pipe up and complain about the ‘disharmony’. Somehow I would like to think JT still wants a lively comments section with differing opinions.”

And in the same thread she is aghast that ANYONE would disagree with her opinions. Does this blog really need forced acrimony? Is that really an intellectually honest approach to debate? What’s really disappointing is that reasonable people in this blog having to wade through her contrived opinions to have thoughtful debate. I hope this is not what the Professor desires in his blog.

Here is a rather erudite Irish Poem you might enjoy:

There once was a liberal miss
Who had long gazed into the abyss!
    But, as one might infer,
    It gazed back at her.
Too bad that she can not see this.

  7. Jack, answer me this. Why did you not also mention anyone else’s “multiple” comments? Pogo for instance. You seemed overly concerned about my “multiple” comments. That was a bit strange.

  8. Olly:

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. I was busy praying for absolution for the sin of being a fiscal conservative and my belief in God.

  9. Inga, “multiple times” is not “counting”. A definite number would be evidence of having counted. You know, like “7”, for example.

  10. Oily,
You spew your intolerance daily regrading liberals. Yet, you moan and cry every single time a liberal speaks up. This is NOT YET an echo chamber, I know that must be terribly disappointing to you. There are far more conservatives commenting on this blog nowadays and they, including you, don’t hesitate to criticize liberals. I suggest you gird your loins and quit complaining every single time a liberal challenges you. You can’t answer a critisicm except to become antagonistic and personal? We still get to criticize each other’s politics and belief systems. There are NO anti blasphemy laws in the U.S, especially on this blog.

  11. “Even when there is common ground and mutual agreement, people still do their best to create strife and discord.”

    Karen,
That was my point up thread as well. It has become expected for the usual suspect in this blog to spew her intolerance of the religious and conservative members whenever these issues are discussed. What’s really laughable is she seems to be the ONLY person in this thread influenced by these crazy fundamentalists and that has made her as intolerant as they are. Go figure.

I am not sure that “dislike” is the right word to express my feelings about gay people. As I have said before, I am “homo-phed-up” with their activism, and the whole Gaystapo schtick. I think the males are particularly screwed up, mentally. They tend to be hyper-promiscuous without regard to their own lives and the lives of others. You don’t get a 20% rate of HIV in a group without some pretty bad dynamics going on. I think that sodomy is a filthy, dirty, unnatural practice and a breeding ground for all kinds of diseases, whether homo or hetero. There is a reason why we have sewage treatment plants, and it ain’t for sex. I think being gay doesn’t mean you should plan on meeting your next lover in a public restroom, or city park, in the dark, as if it were de rigeur. Everybody has sexual urges and controlling them is necessary component of maintaining a civilized society.

I have worked with gays in a professional capacity. Currently, I am helping a gay guy with AIDS try to structure what remains of his finances so that he can legally stay on disability while working enough to maintain some semblance of a decent life. His medical costs are running about $40,000 per year with medicare picking up the tab. I don’t think that his “right” to have someone put their weenie up his rear end was worth either the money it cost the taxpayers, or the suffering it has cost him. That being said, I have never been mean to him, or other gay people who I encounter or work with. I think that gays trying to marry and pretend that they are Brad and Janet is both silly, and doomed to lead to disappointment for them in the long run as they realize that their deepest problems come from themselves. I am however, looking forward to the Gay Divorce Court TV Show!

Sooo, maybe “dislike” isn’t the right word.

  13. Republicons don’t condem these imbeciles because they are a vital part of their dog-whistle politics brigade.

Ahhh, You’ve gotta love the regressive’s base

  14. I was hoping to see some discussion on the grand jury decisions in NYC and Ferguson. Also what is going on with the house case?
