We have another case of a man fired for obnoxious conduct outside of his workplace. While we recently discussed this issue with regard to academics, it is increasing common for private employers to fire people who make themselves notorious with thuggish or insulting conduct in public. The latest is Shawn Simoes, who appears to have the mentality of a three year old and taunted a female report with a disgusting sexually explicit heckle on television. He was an engineer with Hydro One, which fired him after the scene was posted outside of BMO Field.
Reporter Shauna Hunt was surrounded by a group of juvenile men who seemed to wait to get the insult on the air. They wanted to embarrass Hunt by using FHRITP, which stands for “f–k her right in the p—y.” The two men speaking with Hunt actually laugh which is equally disgusting. Hunt says that two men “in a row” shouted the offensive phrase while passing by and “I could hear these other guys conspiring to do it,” Hunt added.
Hunt then confronted the group of men in a wonderfully balanced but firm way. One of the men however then proceeds to explain how using the vulgar expression is incredibly funny. “It is f——- hilarious … it’s f—— amazing, and I respect it.”
He later sent an apology to Hunt though I find it bizarre that a grown man would have to be confronted in public to suddenly realize that he is a thug with a toddler’s mentality.
His company did not like the exposure and fired him. There is of course a difference with the Duke and Boston University professors who were voicing their views of race relations and social issues. Having an employee espousing the value to degrading women with vulgarity expressions presents a different issue for a company that has hired employees to perform specific engineering or business tasks.
As we discussed recently, people who achieve such infamy on social media tend to find that their reputation can follow them with devastating consequences as in the case of Adam Smith.
It is encouraging that the team is planning to take action against all of the men but it is only considering a ban for a year. Why not just ban the men entirely? That could only be a net benefit to every other fan and send a message that boorish thugs should stay home and watch on television where they act like total morons in private.
I honestly cannot even imagine why these men — at least six in number — think that such an insult is so funny. It reflects a sad reality about the upbringing and values of too many people — not just in the treatment of women but basic civil conduct.
“Who has eliminated games that have competition? ”
Soccer without keeping score.
Surely you’ve heard of it.

Wanting to live in a society where men and women have equal opportunities, based upon merit and qualifications, is not such a nasty aspiration. This does not include displacing qualified individuals with others, lacking in education or talent, of an opposite gender. It’s about allowing everyone, regardless of gender, to have the same crack at the wheel. Not a better crack, just an equal crack at that wheel.
My mother and my maternal grandmother were feminists without ever knowing that they qualified as that term. Both worked, seven days a week, alongside their respective husbands, at the family businesses, during a time when women rarely worked outside of the home. They worked out of both necessity and need–a financial necessity and a psychological need. At least that’s my opinion. Work, outside of the home, along with the satisfaction from the families that they raised, gave their lives meaning. They would’ve laughed if I called either of them feminists, since that term has an acquired tainted connotation. The word feminism dredges up visions of women standing over trashcans, burning bras, and demanding free sex, uninhibited by the constraints of marriage. Feminists may have called for that, but true feminism is the freedom to become your potential, unencumbered by any limitations imposed by society’s view of one’s proper place.
Perception is reality. The term feminism, for me, does not dredge up the horrible images some have alluded to on this thread. To think that wanting to live your life, in freedom, without artificial boundaries, would somehow encourage these remarks to this reporter, is bizarre. People raised, with no moral or ethical compass, behave in this manner. Feminism played no part in it. Being raised by wolves is the culprit.

Since the 1990s, elimination games like dodgeball, red rover and tag have been under a cloud — too damaging to self-esteem and too violent, say certain experts.
Just a few examples.
Have you been living under a rock?
“Black males not staying with the women they impregnate has nothing to do with feminism. This has been happening for hundreds of years.”
Completely wrong.
The Negro Family: The Case For National Action (the 1965 Moynihan Report) showed that the problem was fatherlessness.
Marxism (via socialism) pushed for the welfare checks that drove fatherlessness up in the 60s.
Feminists and gays have also been fixated on overturning the “oppressive ideal of the nuclear family.”
Pogo – if fatherless families was a feminist thing, the rates would be the same across races.
Paul,
Why are parents and doctors allowing children to be “over drugged?”

Who has eliminated games that have competition? I see lots of young kids participating in competitive sports these days. Because you read about some schools punishing kids for acting like kids doesn’t mean that all schools do it. The good things that public schools/educators do these days rarely get any news coverage.
Elaine – parents are convinced that their normal, active boy is ADHD by an ill-informed teacher. Parents go the the GP and get meds for the kid. Kid starts taking daily meds for a condition they do not have. Plus, they are now labeled in the system. Anything they do will be attributed to ADHD.
I refuse to use “gender” except in the proper context. My sex is male. If you read anything written prior to the feminist emergence in the 70’s, sex and gender were used properly. I studied French in high school and college, and like many languages, you had learn to use the correct gender of a word. But, one of the first exhibitions of PC, controlling how people speak, was employed w/ the word gender. It was deemed the proper word to use instead of sex. I always surmised it was because many of the homely feminists couldn’t get any. I will use gender when appropriate. But, I actually cross out the word “gender” on forms and replace it w/ “sex.” A quiet, nonviolent, revolution.
This behavior in the video is abhorrent. If all the buggy eyed feminists here were to take a deep breath and be honest, and if they are old enough, they would admit this type of vulgar behavior is MORE prevalent now than it was prior to the feminist revolution. I was taught by my father to be a gentleman. A gentleman makes people feel comfortable, particularly women. He makes the person he is speaking w/ feel like they are the most important person in the world. I gave a eulogy a few years back for a dear friend of mine. He was the consummate gentleman. Ray was a WW2 vet. In researching my eulogy, I learned the term gentleman evolved. Originally, being a gentleman was not about behavior. Being a gentleman was a birthright. If you were born upper class, you were a gentleman, no matter how boorish you were. Chaucer started the change in the use of gentleman, making it a code of conduct, not a birthright. Feminists have been complicit in making men ungentlemanly. They are not the sole reason by any means. They told us holding a door, standing when they entered was condescending. They caused us to stop acting like our fathers and grandfathers taught us to act. The black culture has also been key in making women “ho’s”, and “b!tches” as well. It is a complicated issue. But, for women to not acknowledge men’s behavior toward them, in many respects, is worse now than it was prior to feminism is denying reality. But, that’s something they’re good at. They tried to deny there were any differences between the sexes. That boys and girls were the same, it was just societal differences. Then feminists started giving birth to boys and girls. If they can deny biology, they can deny the nose on their face.

Feminism wants domination?
I guess that I missed that meeting.
bam bam – I used to drink my coffee outside the offices of the Women’s Studies at ASU. They were so anti-male and so biased that I had to move to enjoy my coffee in peace.
What’s so wrong with profanity? She just couldn’t handle it when the Guy got real. She must be a prude.
Black males not staying with the women they impregnate has nothing to do with feminism. This has been happening for hundreds of years. Blame the history of slavery for the dysfunction.
Inga – black men leaving the women they have impregnated today has nothing to do with the issues of slavery. If we can use that excuse, I have free reign to kill all the Brits I can find for their enslavement of the Irish.
““I’ll just take my ball(s) and go home.” LOL!”
The results haven’t been so funny for black males.

The War on Men, similar to The War on Christmas.
Suck it up means that the whites and males will have to endure the reactions as well as the over reactions of blacks and females to centuries of inequality
No it doesn’t. Good luck with that wishful dream of how people should react IRL. People react according to how they are treated. This is why, even though it is an OVER reaction, people can understand the frustration of the black population to years of unequal treatment. This is why people have been working to help blacks “overcome” their past wrongs.
HOWEVER, creating new and equal wrongs by oppressing Asians, White Men doesn’t create a level playing field. What it does create is a gigantic sloshing backwards and forwards of inequality similar to a bathtub full of hate sloshing from one end to the other.
Newton proposed a gravitational theory, and I think it also applies to the human character. in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object. The direction of the force on the first object is opposite to the direction of the force on the second object. Forces always come in pairs – equal and opposite action-reaction force pairs. Push me…..I’ll push you back. Don’t be surprised when you get that reaction.
If men are progressing, with regard to their rights as, fathers, don’t be so quick to discount feminism’s role in facilitating that progress.
Explain how men are PROgressing. I see it as REgressing in their rights. Feminism is the cause.
Men and women should have equal opportunities based on their abilities. ALL people should have equal opportunities.
Equal opportunity does NOT men equal outcomes. Some people will never be equal to others in many areas. Men and women are not equal interchangeable units.
Trying to level the playing field is to ignore biology and reality.

Elaine M – they are sissyfying little boys in grade school and high school. The special snowflakes want Greek mythology to come with trigger warnings. It is all going to hell in a hand basket.

Maybe it’s all going to hell in a hand basket in the red state where you teach/taught.
I don’t know what you mean by “sissifying” little boys in grade school and high school. Do you mean that teaching children to be kind, considerate, and thoughtful of others is helping to make sissies of them?
Elaine – they are over drugging little boys, because they are boys. Boys are more active than girls.
They enjoy rough-housing. They are no longer allowed to do this. There are plenty of people who have written on the subject.
Rights, as fathers,
Paul
The very fact that men are fighting back, and winning, using the equality mantra as part of their argument, is further proof of what I stated about feminism. Equality can, and will, cut both ways. Demanding that women and men be treated as equals will sometimes have unintended repercussions. If men are progressing, with regard to their rights as, fathers, don’t be so quick to discount feminism’s role in facilitating that progress. Sounds strange, but true. No more upper hand when you level the playing field.
bam bam – feminism does not want equality, they want domination.

Oh, so they should just “lie back and think of England?”
It’s pretty to think so, but ain’t gonna happen.
More likely is what happened in the video above, multiplied, as well as male withdrawal from marriage and civic participation.
No Isaac, it’s not semantics, women are one HALF of the population.
