There is a deeply disturbing trial unfolding in Germany involving another “honor killing.” Asadullah Khan, 51, strangled his 19-year-old daughter to death for bringing dishonor on his Muslim family after she stopped wearing the Islamic head scarf and continued to see her boyfriend and was then caught shoplifting condoms. The father and mother, Sharzia, 41, then dressed the dead body of Lareeb, put the corpse into a wheelchair to bring it to a car, then drove from Darmstadt to a remote forest where they rolled her down an embankment (she was found the next day). Both are charged and the key witness against them is their daughter Nida. The parents are from Pakistan and Khan speaks little German.
Khan admits strangling Lareeb with his bare hands and Shazia admits that they were angry with her after she stayed away from home for several nights and stopping wearing the headscarf. Shazia showed Khan a letter from the police that she was arrested for shoplifting that in her words “At this point it became clear that there was sexual contact. When I showed the letter to my husband he snapped.” Shazia however testified under oath that she did everything that she could to stop the murder but was not strong enough.
However, Shazia has faced damaging testimony from Lareeb’s 14-year-old sister Nida who said that her parents sent her to stay with a relative that night. That morning around 2am Khan went into Shazia’s bedroom and strangled her to death. Nida said that her mother would take part in physically abusing her sister and agreeing to marry her off in an arranged married in Pakistan: “My mama was not suppressed, she could do what she wanted. She used to hit me with a stick. We were never allowed to talk about her [Lareeb’s] boyfriend. My father used to say my sister should be forcibly married in Pakistan,” she told the court.
Lareeb’s boyfriend Raheel, 25, a student and taxi driver, also testified that the couple would beat Lareeb (who he planned to marry). He said that Shazia would beat her with a stick and once pressed her hand against a hot stove. He also said that Khan previously tried to strangle her.
Asadullah insisted on the stand that “I love my wife and my daughters.”
The account is another chilling insight into the plight of women and girls in some conservative Islamic families. While honor killings remain common in some Islamic nations like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and others, it also occurs in the West. Given the freedoms afforded women in the West, this clash of cultures is more intense and more dangerous for these girls. Shazia is the tragic face of that clash of cultures — a girl who found freedoms denied to her in Pakistan only to have her life taken to preserve her father’s twisted sense of “honor.”

Dave tries to draw moral equivalency between someone committing adultery in contravention to his religious teachings and someone committing murder in ACCORDANCE with his religion. That’s more than a stretch.
Lloyd extends the moral equivalency to a country of 300 million where, yes, people commit murder as a crime, and are roundly condemned by society and punished, versus people committing murder as religion, with full acceptance and support of their co-believers. Fail.

Bruce: “Sharia law comes to Germany”? Really? In what way, how has this crime been sanctioned by German authorities? Reports make it clear that this horrific act has been investigated as a crime and the parents have been charged as murderers, things that would not have taken place under Sharia law.

One could call it xenophobic were it not for the fact that many Americans are Muslim. There are, in fact, many fine Muslim-American legal scholars. I have no doubt that they would be repulsed by the tragically cruel acts of this young girls parents.
Incidentally, Carson’s remarks are gratuitous in that there are no Muslims running for president. He is doing nothing more than pandering to the prejudices of a number ignorant and hate-filled citizens of this country.
BTW: Carson is nothing more than a token minority candidate for the Republican Party, recruited to give the party cover against the well-earned perception that it is the political wing of the white establishment. His candidacy was imploding before he started coming up with this and other outrageous lines. I believe the Party rulers have fed him these lines as a way to to cut through the Trump static.

Exactly what Ben Carson was trying to say, that a Muslim isn’t fit to a president of the country. Muslims laws are based on their twisted religion. They do not respect laws other than Sharia. Their sick with it and centuries of it being drummed into their culture.
A religion w/ very few universities and teaching hospitals does not value education. When praying 6 times a day is more important than learning, well you have stuff like this. The Pope did take a shot @ Islam when he was speaking @ the UN. He was talking about the fundamental right of children to an education. He looked up from his text and said, “That includes girls.” Although the Catholic Church has a less than stellar record on women, it sure is better than Islam.

Germany has 80 million people, including 4,100,000 Muslims. I wonder if hot lines and shelters for young Muslim women from the abusive males in their lives should be pursued in countries with large Muslim populations? We have women’s shelters throughout the US, I’m wondering if Europe needs to take a lesson from the US when it comes to protecting it’s vulnerable young women from the hands of the abusive/ murderous parents in their families.

If the German courts treat this in any other way than a malicious murder then they are asking for trouble. The only way to stop this thuggery in the Western World is to ignore any religious aspects of religious fanaticism and adhere religiously to the laws of the land, no mitigating circumstances. Unfortunately under German law the thugs will be out in a few years anyway. Perhaps then they can be forcibly returned to Pakistan. The new and all powerful religion of the West must be to not allow Islamic laws any sway whatsoever in Western societies. Every time a judge ‘takes into consideration’ the rituals and customs of these idiots, our legal system suffers.
Children should be protected from their parents for any and all reasons. If she wants to let her hair fly free and is forced to cover then that should be child abuse.
But, that if she is run out of office she’ll definitely win the Nobel and get an audience w/ the Pope..Francis, not Al Gore.
Look for a huge backlash in Germany real soon. Merkel, in an attempt to get a Nobel Peace Prize, has gone way out on a limb. It is about to break.
To think this is taking over Europe, once complete, on to the United States of America. My heart is broken for our children, grandchildren… as we allowed this to take place.

It doesn’t matter why they were in Germany. They murdered their daughter based on a fanatical religious belief and a cultural imperative. It is just this type of action that underpins the very real European concerns about mass immigration of Muslims and others from the ME and beyond.
Refuges and immigrants have the obligation to respect the culture and LAWS of the host country. Those who don’t should, in my opinion, be summarily deported

Why were they in Germany? They should like economic, not actual, refugees. And the situation in Germany is going to only get worse, with all of the unscreened passport-less refugees pouring in, including numerous men from Pakistan who are lying about their origins. Right now there is an Hijrah into Europe. They have already poured over the Gates of Vienna and everywheren else.
