Ibn Hunter, 25, is one person that Atlantic City could do without. Hunter was arrested after he starred in a vicious video posted on YouTube where he taunts and then knocks out a 45-year-old homeless woman. The videotape below is disgusting and all the more disturbing by the utter lack of reaction of people around them.
Hunter is shown standing in front of the victim and asking her: “I ain’t gonna do what? I ain’t gonna grab you? I ain’t gonna do what?”
A person off camera joins the taunting and says: “She said you ain’t gonna smack her, dog.”
Hunter then stares into the camera and decks the woman as the cameraman yells “Bing! and “It’s over.”
The role of the cameraman should result in his arrest as well since he is actively participating in the creation of a videotape (which appears the strong motivation of Hunter). They appear joined in a common purpose to assault the woman while filming the crime.
The woman suffered severe head trauma. She was eventually upgraded to serious but stable condition.
Hunter was arrested on a warrant for aggravated assault. Not surprisingly he has a long criminal history with prior convictions for drugs and theft, including five adult convictions for burglary, robbery and drug possession. He racked up his first cocaine conviction at the age of 16.
It is not clear if an individual identified as Bdsp BroadDay was the man who filmed the crime, but police are trying to find him. BroadDay said on the web that the woman had tried to spit on Hunter.
The joy shown by Hunter in the taunting and assault of this woman should weigh heavily in my view on sentencing. I consider this type of criminal to be the most dangerous to society — someone who enjoys causing and watching the pain of defenseless individuals. It is conduct that should push a sentence to the very top of the discretionary scale for a court in my view.
Again, she got cold cocked in the blink of an eye, no one’s gun would’ve stopped it from happening.
I don’t believe anyone has said she didn’t have a right to defend herself. I believe in defending myself and am fully in favor of people defending themselves.Guns do not HAVE to be a part of one’s defense. Guns in the hands of the mentally ill people on the streets is a disaster in waiting. You don’t do your side any favors by suggesting the homeless should have guns for self defense.
Inga – I just don’t understand how you can prevent the poor from being armed with guns. Even if you accept, for the sake of argument, that 1/3 are mentally ill, then 2/3s are not and have a Constitutional right to bear arms.
“brave people who do step forward”
And do what?
Threaten guys twice their size?
Without a weapon?
Why not just put a “Please kick me in the head sign” on instead?
They did call 911. that’s how she got to the hospital.
Calling 911 does nothing to thwart a beating.
DavidM knows more about homeless people than anyone here. I help homeless people by feeding, befriending and giving them money, but DavidM takes them into his home.
“…the issue should be one’s inherent right to defend themselves in any way they can. ”
Exactly.
I guess it’s too much to ask for a cogent comment from certain quarters.
Poor try.

A good many of the homeless are homeless for some serious reasons. Give these people a gun for protection? Might it not be a better idea to provide these people with shelter and some sort of job they can do?

“Research shows that, compared to homeless families, homeless single adults have much higher rates of serious mental illness, addiction disorders, and other severe health problems.”

Excellent suggestions DBQ @12:17. That makes a whole lot more sense than giving them guns.

How about the people around her using their phones to call 911? Stepping in would’ve put the people there at risk also, but sometimes there are incredibly brave people who do step forward
Liberals hatin’ on the homeless, and conservatives sticking up for them. DavidM walks the walk, helping he homeless; liberals here mock and condescend. HYPOCRITES! Homeless have to fend for themselves on mean streets. Liberals like to sleep in till noon and then chime in w/ derision for homeless people.

Oh if only this homeless man would’ve had a gun instead of an ax and pepper spray.
It seems to me that the issue should be one’s inherent right to defend themselves in any way they can. Nothing backs off a bad guy than a person with equal or greater force. Have you ever wondered why not many gun stores are robbed? I didn’t say that no one has been stupid enough to try to rob a gun store, It’s been tried by some very stupid people but most thinking and surviving bad guys factor in their own safety when planning to commit a crime.
Yes indeed Paulie, let’s arm the homeless. Maybe you and KCF can get together and hand out guns with the sandwiches and coffee.😆
Let’s not get the homeless off the streets with help from our social safety nets, let’s just arm them. Makes a whole lot of sense…to some apparently.
Who was that TV character that always used to say “I meant to do that!” after doing some silly thing? Keep trying.
Now you’re getting it, Annie.
It was an “absurd proposal.”
Next step: why do people make absurd proposals?
You’re almost there….
And if I proclaim: “All French Lives Matter!” then you will take it for a grain of salt. One grain of salt does not alter the taste of a French Fry much.
My take on this, after viewing the video and reading the article an comments, is that there is a sub class of animals on Planet Earth who are deemed to be human but which are sub human. By sub-human I am not speaking of subways in NYC or a certain brand of sandwich. These two legged creatures do not pass the mutarde so to speak. Sometimes we folks from Remulak tell humans that we are from France. We were on Saturday Night Live! television about 30 years ago and we called ourselves coneheads but proclaimed: “We are from France!” Most of you on the blog will not believe that I am from Planet Remulak and that is ok. I do not have a cone shaped head anymore and do not proclaim to be from France.
No KCF, your absurd proposal to arm the homeless was called out by myself and others. Try to be gracious and don’t try to back peddle your way out of it.
Inga – the Constitution does not prohibit the arming of the homeless. Why would you deny an identified segment of the population from arming themselves? That is discrimination against the poor. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Annie, your inability to follow an argument is not my problem.
Off topic. Biden apparently just announced that he is off the playing field.
After watching the video I can say that some lives don’t matter and that it would be good for humanity if all those punks were shot dead. Forget the criminal justice system. Probation, parole, house arrest and all that nonesense– kill these guys before they harm the homeless. The other people who were on the bench or nearby need to be pistol whipped for not stopping this punk.
Some person, not homeless, standing nearby, who had a gun, could have stopped the perp in his tracks. I agree with Dust Bunny Queen on all things she said and considered.
