Germany Cracks Down On Anti-Immigration Speech

Freedom_of_Speech220px-Angela_Merkel_(2008)“I am Syrian. You have to treat me kindly. Mrs Merkel invited me.”  The result has been a rising tide of criticism of Merkel for her open-door policy. Yet, that criticism may now be muted by a move by the government to crackdown on anti-immigration comments as a form of “hate speech.”  As we discussed today with the effort to ban Donald Trump, free speech is being rolled back in Europe under hate crime and anti-discrimination laws as an alarming rate. It is particularly worrisome when the government is under attack on an issue like immigration and responds by prosecuting people for such criticism. News reports indicate that 18 of the 31 known suspects from Cologne were asylum seekers, including “nine Algerians, eight Moroccans, five Iranians, four Syrians, an Iraqi, a Serbian, an American and two German nationals.

We have previously discussed the alarming rollback on free speech rights in the West, particularly in France (here and here and here and here and here and here) and England ( here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here). Much of this trend is tied to the expansion of hate speech and non-discrimination laws. We have seen comedians targeted with such court orders under this expanding and worrisome trend. (here and here).

Prosecutors are charging people who are “inciting hatred” in Germany by speaking out against immigrants and their impact on German society. Prosecutors and judges are determining what criticism will be allowed and what will be treated as criminal. In the meantime, the government has reached a deal with Facebook, Google and Twitter to crackdown on Internet speech. It is an effort to create the artificial appearance of agreement and tolerance by denying free speech to critics.

While it is still not clear how many of the Cologne attackers were immigrants (as many as 22 have been identified as refugees), the incident has been a flashpoint as numerous stories of women and girls being harassed about their clothing or assaulted by immigrants. For example, a 26-year-old Berlin man’s home was raided by police, who confiscated his computer and phones after he had posted the image of a dead 3-year-old Syrian boy on a Turkish beach and wrote “We are not mourning, we are celebrating!” A disgusting comment and one that is worthy public condemnation. However, it is also an act of free speech.

Nevertheless, many citizens are celebrating the denial of their own free speech rights. So long as they disagree with the speakers, there appears little concern over the rising tide of censorship and criminalization of speech. People are now unsure what they can say about immigration, which is precisely the chilling effect that governments seek in such measure. The result is a forced silence . . . which is golden for governments like Merkel’s that do not like what they are hearing.

“Po, do you know what your name means in German? It´s fitting.”

What’s the German word for a feeble-minded attempt at personal insult?

    1. Nah, just a warning and a methodology, so things don’t get bad from here, and if they do, that we don’t get confused later on about why they did.

And Po, one has to wonder how much good your religion is doing you when you still feel the need to come here to “slap people around”.
    ———————————–
It’s doing fine, thanks for asking.
Moses told me to slap the mofo back.
Jesus told me to turn the other cheek.
Muhamad told me to slap the mofo back, but if I forgive him, that is better in the sight of the Lord.
So in that I am only slapping the slappers, I am still within the spirit, if not the letter 🙂

Are you looking to join the slapping?

  3. And Po, one has to wonder how much good your religion is doing you when you still feel the need to come here to “slap people around”.

  4. And Po says it´s “all made up” and “silly”, adding insult to injury. After all, they are just the claims of a few dumb blondes…

  5. In the meantime, the number of people pressing charges in Cologne has risen to 653.

  6. If God experiences no physical force compelling him to an arbitrary definition of morality, God’s creations

experience no physical force compelling them to an arbitrary definition of morality.

“We only see what we want to see; we only hear what we want to hear. Our belief system is just like a mirror

that only shows us what we believe.”

    1. The difference, john, is one of scale.
      And of of omnipotence.
      And of divinity.
By its nature of having been created, the creature is bound to an arbitrary definition of morality. Not unlike a robot created with a moral software, which is further refined intermittently with updates and tweaks.
By its nature as not having been created, the creator is nor bound to those forces, physical or otherwise that compel creation into an arbitrary definition of morality.

We only see what we want to see, and only hear what we want to hear, as long as our God is us, and therefore our belief system is indeed a mirror that reflects us and only us.
Once we perceive the Other, then we see though us and through he mirror, and neither the mirror nor us are a reflection, solely a transparency.
The mirror of the self is zoomed in, myopic…the mirror of the other/Other is a wide lens.

  7. po,

Please correct me where I am wrong.

God created the heavens and the earth.

    Ergo, God created the asteroids.

If God created the asteroids, God controls and directs the asteroids.

God sent the asteroid into the Yucatan peninsula and killed almost every living thing on God’s planet Earth.

God himself and his asteroids must be detested and considered immoral.

    1. John, only so in the measure of human beings (and dinosaurs one too).
In the measure of God’s mind, it is unavoidably wise 🙂

Think it this way, when you clip your dogs buddies, you are calling upon human wisdom to override canine wisdom…and same when you put him to sleep, though he may disagree with your wisdom.
Now if we consider the gulf between dog and human wisdom…and human and divine wisdom…

  8. john smith; I’m with you100% but I keep wondering what the hell are we going to do about it here in the states. I’m just trying to wake people up to what’s going on. I guess we need to reach some irreversible tipping point but if we end up with some bloody revolution it’s just more of the same epic FAIL we’ve experienced since time immemorial. Everyone thinks this time will be different! But I have my doubts. I need to read up on this Gene Sharp that Ken Rogers talks about. At least he has a different approach.

  9. This is why the new run of MK sold out folks. The current German government SUCKS!

  10. The important thing is that the German “government” keep throwing the Seig Heilers in jail for raising their arms. Let the refugees run wild. Capitalism loves social chaos, mass migrations, and war. Keep up the good work, USA, defeated Germany is still under your IRON HEEL.

John – I hate to give spoilers but you can pick up a Cliffnotes for Wealth of Nations.

    Teacher, teach thy flock!
Paul, I second John’s request for salient points.
    Please?

  12. Po,

“As I have done countless times previously, I completely and unreservedly condemn EVERY SINGLE ACT OF VIOLENCE, EMOTIONAL, MENTAL, PHYSICAL, FINANCIAL… against ANY civilian and non-combatant, I even include in it any building, animal, tree, steam and river.”

How about that asteroid that impacted the Yucatan Peninsula and killed just about everything on earth, including the dinosaurs, 65 million years ago.

    Did you condemn that asteroid?

I hope you have a whole lot of condemnation arrows in your quiver because those things show up periodically and at the darnedest times. I think there was one in Russia last year that immorally hurt some folks.

Personally, I condemn the immorality of asteroids. I bet Lincoln would condemn the immorality of asteroids too and he would probably do something real smart about it too, huh? Maybe Lincoln wouldn’t let them secede. I think we should put up another memorial to Lincoln.

    1. John, I cannot condemn that asteroid…asteroids can’t but do what asteroids do, they buzz and they land
But that Russian asteroid deserves a demerit, nonetheless! 🙂

Thanks, po, for your expansive response. It gives me no reason whatever to question the sincerity of your opposition to the organized, ongoing violence perpetrated by certain groups of self-identified Muslims.

I gather, then, that you’re in a psychological and spiritual position similar to my own as a Christian, when self-identified Christians perpetrate the gravest crimes against their fellow men under the odiously spurious mantle of promoting “freedom and democracy” in the Middle East.

As I witness the consistently depraved domestic and foreign policy behavior of the US Power Elite, and its acceptance by so many of my fellow Americans, many of whom in both categories call themselves Christians, the following words of Thomas Jefferson, now freighted with immeasurably more significance than when he wrote them, frequently come to mind: “Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.”

    1. No doubt, Ken, there is a moral high ground to be found in the true believer, in that which is in the realm of the Prophets and the saints, that no faith is truly faith until one truly desires for his fellow human being what he wants for himself…and especially, hates for others what he hates for himself.

There is a rule to the universe that evil happens and strengthens from good men deceiving themselves and deceiving others. There is only one God, and that God is the sole Creator, of every life, every being, the whole of it, all of it.
It is in the nature of human being to claim divine proximity, only to turn it again his brothers, just like satan claimed divine proximity in order to deny God, then turning against his fellow creatures, for when we deny God, we unavoidably turn against our fellow creatures.

If we truly believe that we are all His creation, we are all siblings, and that, therefore we all have a stake in other’s joy and pain.

  14. PCS,

“…read Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations.”

Could you summarize the salient points for us?

By the way, I’ve read Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, Adams, Franklin, Mason (he made it clear that English law was not the law of these states – that the states were going to innovate), John Jay et al. in that timeless trilogy, The Preamble, Constitution and Bill of Rights. I just love the part about having a “right to private property,” which, even logic tells us, precludes redistribution, and the fact that the genius of the American Founders saw fit for women to perpetuate and actually increase the population when they established a restricted-vote republic, consisting of representative government, which began in the home with the man’s undiluted vote representing the family.

It’s uncanny how smart those guys were, the Founding Fathers. Like the Ten Commandments, the founding documents never needed changing (amendment was intended for clarification, not modification). They last forever (oops – that’s what Madison said, that he feared the destruction of the very Constitution itself – can you say Abe Lincoln, Karl Marx, Roosevelt and Kennedy/Johnson?). Turns out America is running out of babies and where’s the future in that, right?

The shadow, one world government completed economic globalization with the globalization of the American Presidency by arbitrarily removing the “natural born citizen” requirement that all Presidents before Obama adhered to – the Law of Nations definition – “…born in the country of parents who are citizens.”

Looks like the once “exceptional” global hegemon, the United States of America, has been totally and irrevocably subsumed, and its inhabitants will soon be diluted into extinction.

That pesky birthrate in a “death spiral,” you know.

But I digress…the Wealth of Nations, please.

    1. John – I hate to give spoilers but you can pick up a Cliffnotes for Wealth of Nations.

    2. The founding fathers had no problem taking or expropriating the property of Tories or hanging them in some instances. They also had NO problem taking the land from the Native Americans either. The theft of their land is a major crime, yet that is of no matter to some folks. So I have no problem taking the money or wealth of those who stole most of their wealth from others.

  15. John; I hate to use the word ‘need’, but you need to read this 110 page free download by Kevin Mugur Galalae:

    KILLING US SOFTLY
CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE GLOBAL
    DEPOPULATION POLICY
    http://real-agenda.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/KILLING-US-SOFTLY2.pdf

    The preface:
“The insights for this article, which is a prelude to a forthcoming book, came to me during a 75-day hunger strike while in pre-trial detention in Canada for my defense of human rights. During these 75 days I lost 55 pounds or 27% of my initial body weight and came within an inch of death in my attempt to compel the Canadian government and by extension the international community to stop their devastating methods of population control and adopt worldwide legislation instead. The Canadian authorities watched me wither from 206 to 150 pounds and hoped that I would die. To keep my hunger strike secret they prevented me from seeing the International Red Cross and the Canadian media remained silent throughout. Despite my sacrifice, the Canadian authorities and the international community did nothing to stop the depopulation genocide. To this day, it proceeds as it has for the past 65 years, with complete disregard for human life and dignity.
Since its inception in 1945, the Global Depopulation Policy has never been exposed, even though over the course of seven decades it has gradually come to affect every human being on the planet. It has been concealed from the world at great cost in human life and treasure because it constitutes crimes against humanity that are without parallel in human history. This is the first time the Global Depopulation Policy is exposed. What you are about to read is forbidden fruit.
The following pages will forever alter your outlook and understanding of the world and of your fellow human beings.”

And there’s a helluva lot more where this came from.
