Poll: 58 Percent Of Voters Considering Someone Other Than Trump or Clinton

The presumptive nomination of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have renewed calls for reforms to challenge the control of a duopoly of power in the country. This week there are new polls showing not only that Trump and Clinton are roughly equal in the high rejection of the majority of the voters, but 58 percent say that they are considering voting for someone other than Trump and Clinton. That could be a huge boast to the Libertarian and Green candidates this election. It also may reflect the dangerous gamble of the establishment in the Democratic party in securing the nomination for Clinton.


Given the huge negative ratings (and deep untrustworthy figures), the polls show that (in an election that should be a walk for any Democrat) Clinton may be the most vulnerable candidate to lose to Trump. While negatives tend to increase with nasty elections, both of these candidates are starting with breathtaking negative views.

New polls show Trump either pulling even or ahead of Clinton while Sanders continues to beat Trump by a healthy margin. Indeed, some polls purport to show that Clinton’s negatives may be higher than Trump’s.

Pollster Douglas Schoen’s recent poll shows both Clinton and Trump are effectively tied among likely voters in the low-40s. However, the majority of voters are looking for another option rather than choose, as Sanders recently said, “between evils.”

The Libertarian party is likely to benefit the most since it is the only third party that will appear in all 50 states.  A Johnson/Weld ticket may be seriously considered by voters as a socially liberal and fiscally conservative option.

  7. I have a choice and not an echo. It is between a man and a woman. I have never had the chance to vote for a comedy television star before like Trump and never had the choice to vote for a woman. It is a choice and not an echo. I am going to see who Phyllis Schlafly is voting for. I have pretty much made up my mind who I am voting for. It is a write in. Molly Beehive is her name.   11. Write-ins are no good since you are voting for electors. Bernie is banking on making it a floor fight at the convention. “Clinton Cash” is out and will go wide before the election. One major Democrat has left the party because of the film. Maybe more will. Hillary has gotten to “No comment” mode about Bill and his bimbos, but Trump is going to still hit her there. That is her weak point. Her strong point is that she has stayed out of jail so fair. Judicial Watch is lining up their depositions over the next 90 days. The FBI still has not interviewed Hillary. Drip, drip, drip.

    Trump did not release income tax returns due to ongoing IRS audit and Hillary did not release deleted emails from private email server due to ongoing FBI investigation.

Just to get this out there: For voters who don’t think the Democrat or Republican candidate would make a good President, there is no reward for voting for one of these media-approved candidates. Don’t be pressured into voting for someone you don’t endorse because some clown has told you that doing otherwise is “throwing away your vote” or some other poppycock.

    To be clear, for those who think that the D or R candidate will actually make the country a better place than it is now during the next term or two in office, then fine, vote for that candidate. But, many of us (possibly a majority of voters) look at the D or R candidate and do NOT think the country would be better than it is now after a term or two in which that candidate does what you think s/he will do (evaluating using whatever reason and skepticism you think is appropriate). For that latter group, there will be lots of basically-inane-but-serious-sounding pressure to draw within the lines and vote D or R. People should think for themselves and keep in mind that there is no reward for knuckling to that pressure. There is no one who shows up delivering boxes of cookies (presumably sheep-shaped) to those who voted for a major-party candidate.

In the meantime, in regard to voting for Clinton or Trump, I will decide early Nov. – so much can happen in the next 5 months that the choices will be different.
