It often seems that when the world is grieving some terrible tragedy, there are some religious extremists who will celebrate the loss. Stepping immediately into that role was Sacramento pastor Roger Jimenez of the California-based Verity Baptist Church who praised Omar Mateen’s murder of gays and lamented that he did not “finish” the job. It appears however that Jimenez will have to find another place to peddle his religious-based hate. Harsch Investment Properties has decided not to renew the church’s lease and wants Jimenez out by next March.
In his sermon at the church, Jimenez told his congregation:
“People say, ‘Well, aren’t you sad that 50 sodomites died?’ Here’s the problem with that, it’s like the equivalent of asking me, ‘Well, aren’t you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today?’ No, I think that’s great. I think that helps society. I think that Orlando, Florida is a little safer tonight.”
He also said that “If we lived in a righteous government, they should round them all up and put them up against a firing wall, and blow their brains out.”
He continued to double down on this remarks despite protests:
“As far as the Bible is concerned, they crossed a line. The sin they performed is worthy of death,” he said. “I realize our society doesn’t take that, but that’s what the bible says. If someone does something that’s worthy of death and they end up dying, I’m not gonna mourn them. . . . Absolutely I think they are safer now because of these deaths, and the reason I think that is because I believe all of these homosexuals are pedophiles, and the Bible–see our culture and our society puts them in these categories–gay, lesbian, whatever, but that’s not found in scripture. And I understand the world does not want to accept that, that’s fine. I’m saying as a Christian, the Bible puts people in two categories: normal/natural, unnatural.”
The video was originally posted on YouTube but the company removed it for violating the company’s policy on hate speech. I once again have qualms about the censoring of such postings. I think it is important for people to hear such hateful sermons and to understand the intense prejudice against gays and lesbians.
What do you think?
“we’re seeing Christians as extreme as radical Muslims”
Are we?

And here’s a non-Christian liberal who attempted to assassinate a US presidential candidate.

Dr.Jim It’s paraphrasing a scene called The Bonnie Situation from the movie Pulp Fiction
here is a clean reread by Sam Jackson for Graham Norton. Google the scene if you want. Fair warning massive violence and foul language in the movie part
The quote given on this page from Ezekiel 25:17 is taken out of context. It is in regard to Philistines and no one else.
KCFleming: Uh oh, we’re seeing Christians as extreme as radical Muslims, yet our country hasn’t been raped, pillaged, and leveled to rubble and dust. How can that be?
I noticed you were as quick to distinguish them as Muslims are separate themselves from their radicals.
I look forward to your next excuse. ::yawn::
It has been shown repeatedly that those who condemn LGBT folks are themselves not only LGBT but also highly dangerous. They “project” their own guilt onto others. Following his cryptic confession, Mr Jimenez now needs to be constantly monitored for pedophilia.
Lacking pity, empathy or tolerance are common human failures.
“cruel and brutal actions because they alleged those actions will be rewarded in the after life”
Only Islam, witchcraft and Satanism can be clearly recorded as doing so.
Show me evidence of the Christian ‘reward’ for cruel and brutal actions.
PS: Don’t point to the NYTimes “Romans” article. it’s been soundly debunked as totally wrong.
PPS: This pastor here is not proof. Evil men can twist the Bible for self-justification, but that doesn’t impugn the Bible any more than using a knife for murder impugns knives.
When men decide they speak for God they are dangerous, very dangerous.
With all due respect, KC, I afraid many of the “people” of God, regardless of the faith they claim, have shown themselves to be without pity, empathy or even tolerance over and over again. The fear of an “afterlife” hasn’t stopped them. In fact, many engaged and still do engage in cruel and brutal actions because they alleged those actions will be rewarded in the after life.
Few Christians follow his line of thinking (see photo of the pastor’s congregation below).
Muslims the world over believe exactly as this.
Anyone here want to attack Islam in the US for the same offense?
Let’s hear it.

“Only religion can retard the mind so immorally and to a point fully bereft of empathy and decency.”
Hilarious.
Atheists killed nearly 200 million of their own citizens in the 20th century, often by intentionally starving them to death, sometimes by execution and torture. Always without empathy or decency.
In fact, only religion can justify empathy and decency.
With it, humans have reason to be so.
Without it, anything is game.
What are “empathy and decency” in a godless world?
Words.
What is in those words?
Air.
If there is a god, it would not have created anything so vile as these people. Their anger and hatred combined with feelings of inadequacy target that which doesn’t follow their interpretation of what is nothing more than a fable. There is a madness here. These people should be on the no gun, no fly lists. Of course the gun industry would lose a lot of money.

Regarding taxing religious institutions, all monies proven to have been transferred to the needy or charities should be tax deductible. All administrative and salary monies should be taxed as corporations. Tax rates on the rich should go up. Movie stars and preachers, what’s the difference?
Hateful and disgusting, made all the more infuriating because this man enjoys a free ride because of a r legions tax exemption. Let’s tell our government to end tax exemptions for “religious” institutions of ALL religions.
Only religion can retard the mind so immorally and to a point fully bereft of empathy and decency. As Hitchens said of Falwell, “It’s a pity there isn’t a hell for him to go to.”
Darren Smith you are FUNNY!
I’ve been going back and reading your quote while doing my best Jules Winnfileld delivery.
As far as Pastor Nutjob goes his Dogma will eventually be eaten by his Karma. Just like Graffiti Nefertiti.
I do not consider people who send us out to die for nothing as worshipers. I do wonder if they are worth the effort and always remember our oath is not to land or people but to the Constitution. Absent that saving grace there is no reason other than a pay check. But that’s nought to do with the project in hand.
When did the Democrats quit supporting representative democracy? Did they ever suipport it? I include Republicans in that question as they are part of the socialist government party and work for the Democrats
I forgot to add and apologies for the error. I do not support Mr. Jimenez. As a retired professional, never drafted infantry soldier I would like to see the matter settled but not if we’re once again cannon fodder for any form of radicalism, racism, sexism, or bigotry. Especially now the ladies are joining. It’s bad enough being sent out to wage war for a government that doesn’t care who wins or loses and cares much less for our lives. I despise the draft and wish the country would elect to ban it.
falls in the same realm as the American worship of the military ….. hard to listen to
I thought to write this first without referring to any others. As it ties into a second project.
Question. Under Freedom of Religion does this particular church have any standing before the law in one direction or the other and the answer is yes.
Coming as many of them did the founders and their communities were well versed in the problem. Some of their products can be found in the original governing documents of the first colonies and traced through the Declaration, the Articles of Confederacy and the Constitution.
Each of the thirteen wished to exert their own control within their own colony but many asked for all the colonies to proclaim a sort of moratorium on certain activities. Preaching a specific faith was one of them . This sort of answer ended up in the Article IV provision for all states to give full faith and credit to the laws of the other states. There was no reason except for commercial purposes to go further.
Some of the religions including the colonists found well entrenched in North America through their trading, trapping and exploring networks did in fact practice some, by today’s standards, fairly horrible rites. Children and young women killed was just a part of it. Even the Catholic Church of those days was infamous for the Inquisition but they weren’t the only one”s I reference Puritans and Witch Trials. Yet they wanted freedom of religion.
The outcome was ‘yes you may practice your religion as long as it does not disturb the peace nor violate the laws of the land as you found them upon arrival. So the voodoo rites of Haiti could not enter North America under control of the fledgling USA unless they left the more objectionable parts of their former religion behind. The attitude was…no one guaranteed you the right to come here and we don’t guarantee you the right to continue as you did in previous areas if it disturbs the peace and ….pursuit of happiness.
George Washington himself set this policy as he addressed the Quaker issue and service to the country especially in time of war. Called for honoring the other groups religion if they would honor the rules of the country, and set the tone for a sit down dinner type of conference. In my day Quakers were drafted but not required to carry weapons and many ended up in the medical corps. Something I see we will be addressing again shortly.
So if this question has come up that’s the answer.
This brings me to a second issue. Free and open debate. Imagine the voter pool had 200 million and 46% of them opted out stating we have no one to represent us and our votes are being stolen anyway. 54% left. About four percent used other reasons and politics is boring is one of them. 50%. Leaves 100 million. I made the math easy.
About 29% were formerly known as Democrats and 24% as Republicans. Different from previous years 10 and growing to 12 percent plus were listed as Libertarians. 65 million. 35 million represent those that may have registered but would not vote.
so 65 out of 200 or 32.5 out of every 100 were left to decide the fate of the next four to eight years.
Figures are not so far off. But the majority of 100 million and One was clearly unobtainable. A majority of those registering problematical and a majority of those expected to vote impossible. Even then the vote didn’t really count as it was direct popular vote and States really held no power over federal elections as the States and Federal held no power over the primaries. As a plurality and I’m rounding the numbers again to 34% to allow for last minute filers. 17% plus one was needed to win my plurality and a like number of delegates to the electoral college me to do their job. This one counted.
But a suit had been filed due to vote changing. “What right?” some cried, “What right to change my ballot from Mr. Trump To Ms Clinton or Ms Clinton to Mr. Sanders or Mr. Sanders to Mr. Johnson. Violation of my rights and due process was filed in both the primary and general election levels. What was touted as a way to weld the public back together in harmony became a charge of a criminal violation of altering votes.
In the end the number of delegates allowed by each party controlling it’s own primary changed as well but not enough to change the presumptive candidates. Unsatisfied many bolted and Bernies people went to three different places. Green Party, Rino Republicans (part of the Socialist progressive movement) or Libertarians. Clinton’s group lost as well with most going to the Greens or Libertarians and Trumps also with most going to the Libertarians.
The Primaries ended with the Libertarians holding the second largest number of voters, gained a seat a the debate table and a lot of publicity. here I depart for purposes of example from what has happened but am close to what could happen. You see in real life many Republicans would change if there was something to change to and a miracle had occured. You may say the same about Greens and Democrats I’m sure.
One of the debate questions has to do with Islamic immigration. How would such a change which is not far from being possible. affect the discussion . How much would politics take over? Would major money follow the trend now that Libertarians were a percent ahead of Republicans?
Given the current line up of Screech and Bluster how many more people would watch and listen. Balance it another way. Two socialist candidates and one Constitutional Candidate. continue to the left or reverse back to the center of USA politics, Carvilles famous ‘sacred ground’ and the Constitution is that pivot point.
So What i’m doing in the second part is asking this…in this really weird year let’s bring some sense into it and highlight the major issues. Libs are 12% and rising and need 15% barring any changes. If you see a poll just x the Lib choice or write it in. Same when writing blogs or editor letters. Doesn’t change your registration unless you want to do a step two no change your vote. I’t s a safe exercise.
So I floated in my home territory and expected to be supported or vilified. No problem. The surprise was who was the most against such a gesture. I didn’t realize how weak the former Democrats felt about their postion and candidate. Same with Trumpet die hards too. Enough support from the others to make it worth pursing to the second step. Go internet wide. So here i am.
In the end though I had to seriously ask the Clinton crowd one question. Whatever happened to that story about a direct vote representative democracy being the foundation and a part of the indirect vote representative Republic. Where did the world Democracy or Democratic go? i had, it seems, forgotten to
they had declared themselves Socialists a few months back. Apparently inviting a group on the ballot in 50 states was not in the game plan of the Neo or is it No-Democratic party.
So what do you say? Got the guts your party leaders don’t have? Is this truly a small d democratically chosen large R republic or just a group waiting for their new flag and slogan and oaths.
Are you all, Rinos and Dinos and the rest of it really that afraid of the competition?
Why not find out? Give the Libs a boost and the debates a much needed face lift.
I am not a Libertarian I am a student of politics. and i did object to my vote being stolen and given to some one else. No time for more editing and spell checking she goes as written
Cheers

His timing was wrong. What he said can be interpreted as incitement for more killing.
On another hand he is 100% correct “As far as the Bible is concerned, they crossed a line.”
When his time comes he will have an interesting audience at the Pearly Gates. Perhaps Saint Peter will post it on You Tube.
“And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LANDLORD, when I shall serve my writ of restitution on them.”
