Wikileaks: Top Clinton Aides Detail “Expensive Gifts” and Unethical Deals By Clintons Through Their Foundation

bill_clinton_by_gage_skidmorecvt6lyevuaq0z7-jpg-smallWikileaks has issued new and troubling emails from its hacking of Democratic accounts. Top Clinton aide Doug Band sent emails that raised objections to the use of the Foundation by Bill Clinton over alleged conflicts of interest. He specifically mentions the giving of “expensive gifts” and other conduct from sponsors. At the same time, top Hillary Clinton aide, Huma Abedin, is found complaining about a “mess” created by Hillary Clinton in securing a massive contribution from the King of Morocco of $12 million allegedly in exchange (or with the expectation) for a meeting with her as part of an event for the Clinton Global Initiative May 2015.

The Band disclosure concerns the Clinton Global Initiative and a new business started by top Clinton aide Doug Band called Teneo Holdings. Both Band and Clinton’s held dual positions with Teneo and CGI. Bond wrote a November 17th email to John Podesta, Chairman of the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign and long-time Clinton confidant. He objected to Pedestal that “I signed a conflict of interest policy as a board member of cgi . . . Oddly, [Bill Clinton] does not have to sign such a document even though he is personally paid by 3 cgi sponsors, gets many expensive gifts from them, some that are at home etc. . . I could add 500 different examples of things like this.” Band was on the Clinton Foundation payroll through 2011, but, in June 2011, he and co-founder Declan Kelly, a former economic envoy for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, started Teneo in June 2011. They then made Bill Clinton a paid adviser. Chelsea Clinton was then appointed to the CGI board. Teneo then accepted money from groups like MF Global, a controversial brokerage firm that reportedly lost $600 million of investors’ money and had business deals that could be benefited by an association with the Secretary of State.

At the time of the emails, the Clinton campaign staff were worried that there were questions being asked abut the relationship between CGI and Teneo. Band comes across as defensive and accusatory. He indicated that he knew of far worse conflicts by Bill Clinton and demanded “How then do we go through an exercise like this and [Bill Clinton] doesn’t as he is far more conflicted every single day in what he does?” Band later raised a Hillary Clinton with even worse “issues.”

In the meantime, Abedin (who is generally viewed as Hillary Clinton’s closest aide) authored a startling email that suggested a type of quid pro quo by Hillary Clinton in a foundation trade-off with Morocco for $12 million commitment to meet with the King of Morocco. The critical memo came in January 2015 with two top advisers Podesta and Robby Mook. It appeared that after cutting the deal for the money, Clinton had gotten cold feet due to the election. Abedin wrote that “this was HRC’s idea” and “she created this mess and she knows it.” It was decided that Hillary Clinton who go to campaign in Nevada and California while they had Bill and Chelsea meet with the Moroccans. Morocco at the time was under great pressure for what the U.S. government denounced as “arbitrary arrests and corruption.”

The last presidential debate with moderator Chris Wallace was the first to seriously probe allegations of a “pay to play” scheme associated with the Foundation. Clinton did not respond directly to the allegations but these emails are likely to magnify the concerns in the final weeks of the campaign.

  1. The link below is a very good article regarding the role CHARACTER plays in this particular branch of government. The point is the Left is playing a dangerous game of chicken with their choice for President.

This article quotes George Washington and how he perceived the enormous responsibility he would have as our nations first President:

“Few who are not philosophical spectators,” he wrote, “can realize the difficult and delicate part which a man in my situation has to act. . . . In our progress toward political happiness my station is new; and, if I may use the expression, I walk on untrodden ground. There is scarcely any part of my conduct which may not hereafter be drawn into precedent.”

Both Clinton and Trump will bring into their administration a known character without precedent as they enter the office. Is there any doubt the Republicans will be fought on every turn as they challenge a Clinton administration’s exercise of power? Does anyone believe a Trump administration would lack bipartisan oversight from Congress? Neither party is particularly fond of him. Which of these two ‘characters’ will surely benefit from a fourth estate that’s lost its way?

The choice we have before us is to elect a tyrant or a tyrant. Are we really prepared to elect the one that will be enabled in their abuse of power? Because once that precedent is set, the successor to this throne will have “at least” the same power and a path to more. If we thought elections have consequences now, just wait to see the panic in the leftist streets when it’s their turn in the barrel.

    1. Good analysis, Olly. I’ve said many times, the free press only investigates Republicans. Obama makes Nixon look like a ham n’ egger. Crickets from the MSM. It will be the same w/ Lady Macbeth.

      1. Nick, first law of holes seems to apply to the current state of this republic. It’s a tragic reality that the majority of the country think both candidates are horrible options but will still vote for one to oppose the other. At this rate, the only desired quality necessary to win in a landslide after either of these two are finished is trust. Mind you I don’t necessarily mean trust for good, principled governance. We aren’t ready for that. The kind of trust Ron Paul engendered. You could trust he was going to do what he said he was going to do. But again we’re not ready for good, principled governance yet. Sanders is the closest to the kind of trusted candidate I believe this current culture is ready for. Oh, that’s not saying his policies won’t further our decline. He’d be trusted to do what he says he’ll do and they’ll have to sort out the consequences later.

        1. The kind of trust Ron Paul engendered. You could trust he was going to do what he said he was going to do.

No, you could trust he believed what he said (except when he said he couldn’t remember who wrote and edited the newsletters in his office employing four people). Paul’s never shown he could actually persuade anyone to adopt his ideas, so he’d likely spend his time in cage matches over the federal budget (which is all the president does nowadays in any case). And, of course, his foreign policy vision was so addled by fantasy that he’d have ample opportunity to generate trouble.

          1. Fantasy? I hope you mean as in “fantasy that it will ever change.” Our foreign policy is so bad it is generating a wave of disapprocval world-wide and hastening our road to demise. The dominos we create daily cost a lot of money.

          2. “No, you could trust he believed what he said”

That’s precisely the point. Not being able to persuade is not a character flaw. Ron Paul’s vision for this country would be perceived as fantasy by anyone dogmatically opposed to a reduction in foreign policy entanglements and our regulatory state. An easy read to understand his political philosophy is The Law by Frederic Bastiat. Paul is quoted as saying if he were to recommend one book everyone should read, it would that book.

In the bigger picture though, our existing culture is not ready for that kind of change. That would take more enlightenment than we currently possess. Look up Salutary Neglect. What we are experiencing now is no different than what the colonists did after The Seven Years War. People are beginning to feel it, they just don’t quite know what to do with that feeling. I think the millennials are the closest in comparison to our 18th century generation when it comes to doing anything about the administrative state choking this country. They don’t like what they feel and they are looking for a leader they can rally around. Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders are great examples of this phenomenon and they were as ideologically opposed as one could imagine. I believe both of these man attracted millennials because they want something different for their future. This is why control over our educational system is so hard-fought.

Lincoln said; “The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.” The millennials will be the key to who our next transformational leader will be.The direction we go will be wholly dependent on what they’ve been taught about history and their ability for critical-thinking. So far, I’m not encouraged.

    1. quite welcome! Do you watch “mockumentaries” as well? I really like Morgan Spurlock and some older Michael Moore.

        1. Nick – although I like Best in Show, I favor Waiting for Guffman, Spinal Tap and For Your Consideration.

  2. off topic I just watched a documentary by author James Patterson “Murder in a Small Town” Explores the economic/cultural devastation in two small towns in NY and FL. Could be Anytown, USA – the neo lib / neo con policies of the last 30+ years have hollowed out these places. Highly recommend.

  3. I wonder if Bill Clinton will take up Madonna on her latest offer to get people to vote for Hilary.

  4. They don’t know who is behind the attack on twitter, vox, netflix and a host of others.

  5. As we all know there will be no investigation or charges considering our federal law enforcement agencies are MIA when it comes to the Clintons. Lets hope Bernies kids and the Independents take the time to read some of this and act appropriately.

    1. WB – oh we are! And many Bernieorbusters are voting for Trump. HRC is dangerous.

  6. Marco Rubio has warned the GOP not to talk about Wikileaks. He is trying to separate himself from Trump and hang on to his senate seat.

    1. Trumpsters don’t care about the GOP. And Little Marco better enjoy his last stint in Congress.

    2. Rubio is a vacuous pimple whose only claim to fame is that his grandfather, ‘came to this country’, and worked 40 hours a week. If ever there was a nothing rapped in a greasy smile it is Rubio.

      1. Actually, his parents were immigrants. He never specified what their work schedules were. They were pretty ordinary wage-earners.

You’re adept at nothing but reminding everyone that Canada harbors many fools.

  7. The internet and twitter are being taken off line, off and on today. I guess Putin works for USGinc!

    Corrupt!!!!!! Dangerous!!!!!! Criminal behavior!!!!!

  8. The job of the MSM is to cruxify Trump, not to examine Hillary. Hillary must stay away nights hoping she will be elected so she is not convicted.

  9. Virtually NO MSM report on these scandals. This is like The Truman Show, as Sharyl Atkisson points out often.

  10. You have to laugh when someone using the moniker “Greece” defends the Clinton’s corruption w/ the age old, “Everyone does it” horse manure.

  11. The British voters rebelled against the elitists w/ Brexit, and the Colombians w/ their vote against blanket amnesty for FARC killers. We’ll see what US voters will do in a couple weeks.

    1. I wondered if that was a badly spelled word On the other hand thinking one can retire at full pay at 55 with no slave economy to pay the freight ….mmmmm…much as Athens and Sparta left for us in the way of philosophy and critical thinking they were a slave economy…Yep. it fits.

    2. Spot on Nick! And the Austrians are trying to slip out of the EU noose and regain control of their country as well. If Austria makes it I expect a domino affect.

  12. This is how politicians and their monied allies do business. The idea that the Clintons are worse than all the others in the past 250 years is absolutely hilarious. I love the leaks for finally making it transparent but it ain’t news.

    1. Actually, as recently as 1976 it was a miniscandal that Gerald Ford had gone on destination golf outings with his pal William Whyte, because Whyte’s day job was as a lobbyist for the Steel industry trade assn.

  13. I finally have seen the light. Clinton is corrupt. I am going to vote for Trump. Trump is the man that will fix this country. Yup.

    1. @Issac-WHAT! Hell I’m going out and buy a lottery ticket. I won’t poke fun at your bicycle gears anymore.

      1. Sarcastic, no. Clinton is the lesser of the two evils and the best chance to move this country forward, especially if the Dems get the Senate. Jill Stein is a wasted liberal vote. If Trump gets in it will be a thousand times worse than Bush. The Supreme Court will be in the toilet for generations.

It was an a**hol& judge Scalia that cemented money in the process. That won’t change with Trump. There is a snowball’s chance in hell that it will change with Clinton which is way more of a chance than with Trump. Trump will cement the top end further in place. The bottom line is that Trump is just plain stupid. He had the Presidency when he started but destroyed himself and most of the Republican party on the way. He is either just plain nuts, stupid, and maybe worse or a Dem plant.

          1. You must be a Trump supporter, what with all the frustration issues, especially as illustrated in your reply of 1, October 21, 2016 at 7:03 pm. Now, what are your conspiracy theories regarding the campaign?

        1. “Dem plant”

I think this is highly likely.

Who else could she possibly beat? Only someone who could come across as more odious.

  14. I want to point something else out related to this. The Ecuadorian embassy is surrounded and being increasingly surrounded by heavily armed police. Assange’s line was cut off due to pressure by the US.

This is totalitarianism. Imagine if the NYTimes had their internet feed cut and heavily armed police surrounded their building (not that that would ever happen given their utter complicity with Clinton and Obama).

WTF are we allowing from our nation’s “leaders” or would be leaders? This is incredibly dangerous. The level of corruption, threats, complicity and lies is beyond appalling and shows the US as the police state it is. Citizens should not justify these actions just because they want some two bit dictator to “win” and “election”.

This is our wake up call, yet still people remain asleep or urge others to take the red pill and know nothing.

    1. Well said. Plus, I have to ask… where have all the lefties gone??? Did they just grow old and give up? I thought that since Shailene Woodley got the spook treatment at the pipeline protest, some of the lefty type might have chimed up a bit. Last thing I saw was that Colbert is making plans to go back to Canada if Trump is elected. I’m giving up too. Anyone what a brownshirt?

      1. Only difference between National Socialists and International Socialists is ‘Inter’ and not much. interchangeable slogans and interchangeable parts of the socialist collective. If they didn’t have Soros doing their heavy thinking they would be working for Target or Jack In The Crack.

      2. Colbert is from Charleston, SC. Used to like him, but like all the other MSM comedians – Bill Maher, John Oliver, etc. he had decided to answer to his corporate owners. Remember Jimmy Fallon got in trouble because he “humanized” Trump.

Mantra is Trump evil, HRC good. Except it’s not working. Progressives and Trumpster realize that if she gets in there we will have a dictorship where rule of law does not apply to the elite.

        1. No, most people don’t like either one of them but women really don’t like Trump.

          1. but women really don’t like Trump.

            Therefur??

The most recent IBD polls gives Trump a 12% point lead among men and Clinton an 8% point lead among women. This is of aught but dry sociological interest just why?????

          2. Trump’s a jerk, but I dislike Hillary more. She is a liar and a disgrace. She should never hold office again. I have NO faith that she would be impeached for anything, and she would assuredly commit some kind of wrongdoing as she has already set that precedent.

I have more faith that Trump would be impeached if he were found guilty of wrongdoing.

  15. “…magnify the concerns…”; yes, but not enough.

The MSM won’t follow up; the FBI/Justice Depart. will ignore; and the lib voters don’t care.

What this will do is remind many Americans that we are about to elect a crook to the WH – with the willing acquiesce of the Fourth Estate.

    1. And, IsaacB and PhilaT and swarthmoremom will comment here about how stupid Republicans and Trump are, and how brilliant they are, even though the truth has been laid right out in front of them curtesy of Wikileaks. They prove that some of the people can be fooled all of the the time.

I particularly love the Donna Brazile leak about how rotten the recovery has been. I guess that is the private position.

      Squeeky Fromm
      Girl Reporter

      1. Brazile at best is a reverse racist and at worse is a race traitor. But the rate she lets tidbits out also means she’s also not loyal to Whitebread Clinton. Either it’s intentional or she’s incompetently stupid. Fitting choice to replace the other Stupid Is As Stupid Does she replaced. They want to run a country. I doubt they can balance their check books.

      2. Republicans were stupid to nominate Trump. If they had nominated Rubio or Kasich the election would have been a cake walk for them.

        1. People are sick of the status quo – same coin different sides which is why Bush is all about Hil now. Kasich is a Wall Street pig. Ohio has more pay day lenders than McDonalds – sad state of the economy.

Looks like the Trumpster is doing well. Many happy people lining up for his rallies. HRC has to hire scabs. 0 enthusiasm

          1. Trump is not doing well. If the goal was to beat Hillary, Kasich and Rubio were better candidates. Democrats were happy that the candidate was Trump. Just sayin…..

            1. I’m not trying to get into a P#*^g match with you, I don’t think you get it Kasich and Rubio are cut from the same cloth as Hilly. I and many others want the good ole boys network out. If Pinkey Lee was running against her and I’m showing my age I would have voted for him.

Imagine today she is courting BLM not law enforcement, just amazing.

              1. I get it,but people are more inclined to vote for someone that has some semblance of sanity.

                1. Hillary is sane while she abuses her security detail, compromises state secrets, and runs a pay for play operation from the Secretary of State’s office. Ain’t that comforting?

            2. Totally agree that Kasich or Rubio would have given Hillary a run for her money. But Bernie would have beaten them all and he would be ahead by double digits.

As it is, Nate Silver has Hillary at about 86% to win right now. It’s over. The only questions remaining are what’s going to happen in the Senate and the House. There is also some chatter about what’s happening at the state level, but most of the big R states are so gerrymandered the Dems would have to flood the polls to win.

              1. phillyT – Bernie had his chance to beat Hillary and could not do it. It is all sour grape now. The fix was in. The fact that he is going around the country speaking for her makes me ill.

                1. The fact that he is going around the country speaking for her makes me ill.

                  Right, me too.

              2. There is also some chatter about what’s happening at the state level, but most of the big R states are so gerrymandered the Dems would have to flood the polls to win.

Amazingly, the Democratic Party loses the popular vote, and they lose control of state and federal legislatures. Amazingly, the Democratic Party’s support is abnormally concentrated in inner city slums where they roll up 7-1 majorities, so they win fewer seats than they might with the popular votes they received. Not amazingly, partisan Democrats lie to themselves and complain that they lose as a result of gerrymandering. (The lying better to justify rounding up more illegal aliens to send in postal ballots).

        2. My friend it should be a cake walk as you put it no matter who was nominated. You and others have been challenging the truth from the onset. So for you and others in denial it’s still the Republicans are stupid. As a reminder the people put Trump where he is now not the GOP. The DNC anointed Hilly and made sure no one else would get a shot. Now Election Day eat your pride and vote for Trump.

        3. The principled candidate was Ted Cruz, who also polled better than Trump against Hilligula.

            1. Heidi Cruz is another woman that Trump disrespected on the national stage.

                1. Steps – speaking of National Enquirer. They had a big speak on Hillary’s sexual antics on Wednesday. And another of Bill’s victims came forward.

                    1. Steps – Hillary seems to have ranged far from Huma. Not sure she is part of the article.

        4. Democrats show they are totalitarian by voting for Clinton. I used to believe Democrats when they said murder, torture, massive fraud etc. were wrong. Then I saw how most of you acted towards Obama. Even when he deliberately killed a 16 year old boy and kept a child soldier in Gitmo, you said NOTHING. I then realized that no amount of hideous actions really bothered most of you.

What concerned you was having power. That will for power results in depraved indifference towards human life and towards the earth. I find it sickening that you care only for power and everything else is simply a matter of indifference to you. You can see all the harm your candidate has already caused. yet you will cheer her cruelty to the bitter end of all freedom in our nation and to the destruction of the environment is complete.

    2. Fourth estate when they are journalists. These are not journalists they are reporters working as the propaganda organ of the extreme left and the scum that inhabits that part of the spectrum. “Why should I trust them? They are reporters” No Journalists.
