“Very Sad”: Trump Suggests That FBI Might Have Prevented Florida Massacre If It Wasn’t So Busy Looking For Russian Collusion

downloaddonald_trump_president-elect_portrait_croppedPresident Donald Trump late Saturday night issued another highly controversial and frankly unfair tweet targeting the FBI.  Trump suggested that the FBI might have prevented the massacre atMarjory Douglas Stoneman High School in Parkland, Florida if they weren’t “spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign.”  It is obviously a false association since the local and national offices dealing with such school threats are entirely removed by the Russian investigation. Indeed, the entire structure of the Special Counsel operation is designed to set it apart from Main Justice and other investigations.  The tweet is being condemned as politicizing the massacre as students are still being mourned and buried.  This includes some very angry responses from the surviving students.

The President’s tweet read:

Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign – there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!

Like most people, I was highly critical on Friday night when we learned that the FBI effectively ignored a detailed warning of violent potential the accused gunman, Nikolas Cruz.  Moreover, I agreed that the indictment of the 13 Russians conspicuously lacked any evidence of collusion.  However, the linking of these two stories is inappropriate, unwarranted, and ultimately undermines the President’s outreach to families of the victims.
What do you think?

  1. That the FBI failed and 17 children died is both a national disgrace and it begs the question, what’s the problem at FBI? Moving on…

What happened in Florida isn’t exclusively a legal problem. Take guns out of the equation for a moment and ask, did Cruz break laws? Certainly he did. There are laws against trespassing and he broke them the moment he stepped on school property. Those laws did not deter him.

There have not been 18 school shootings in 2018. That myth has been debunked. What has happened though is that in the 21st century we have already had more school shootings than the previous two centuries combined. (There were 2 in the 19th Century and 9 in the 20th Century and that includes Kent State. Those numbers don’t include other school massacres such as the Bath Township school attack in I believe 1927 which did not involve guns). Since 2012 we have had at least one school shooting incident each year less 2016.

What we have is a moral problem. We have a corrosion of values, respect, and virtue. Our culture is increasingly rotten to the core.

I’d bet anyone here an adult beverage that if a doctor today cured cancer he or she would receive less attention than Omarosa.

    1. AWW re “I’d bet anyone here an adult beverage that if a doctor today cured cancer he or she would receive less attention than Omarosa.” you got that right!

That doc would be disappeared so quickly – there is an entire industry profiting greatly off cancer – not to diss the medical staff who do their best to cure and comfort.

  2. Per Wiki, both instances when Americans alerted the FBI to Cruz in fall 2017 and January 2018, and the FBI did NOT STOP NOR DISARM CRUZ, perfectly match the definition of criminal negligence.

Math would seem to flatly contradict Turley’s ridiculous claim denying connection between the FBI’s criminal, prosecutable negligence Re. Nikolas Cruz and Mueller’s obvious intent to impeach Trump and thus make Pence POTUS (I wonder if persons suffering terminal TDS realize Pence is next in line, the guy who Joy Behar accused of having “insane” conversations with God).

Here’s the math for Turley and others who agree with him:
100% – X% = sum total FBI employees available to arrest and/or disarm Cruz, where 100% = total FBI employees and X% = FBI employees now attempting to make Pence POTUS.

One or more FBI employees need to be immediately prosecuted for criminal negligence. If you think the FBI shall ever do so to “one of their own,” I have a big red bridge for sale connecting San Francisco’s N. headlands to the S. Marin County headlands.

Further, if any non-FBI employee committed the same criminal negligence that FBI already committed, not only would they already have been arrested and charged, but about a half dozen of their friends and family members would also have to mortgage their souls to purchase attorneys to avoid a lifetime stay at Guantanamo. When in doubt, when it’s non-government employees, the FBI arrests first, destroys lives, and walks away, just like they do now with the Trump prosecutions.

To what degree does the FBI treat us like stupid idiots? Fall of 2017 Ben Bennight alerted the FBI of a social media post “I plan to be a professional school shooter,” signed “Nikolas Cruz,” to which the FBI did NOTHING. The day after Cruz got his dream job, an FBI agent appeared on TV telling Americans “we could not identify the poster.”

If you believe that FBI agent did not knowingly lie when he said that, again, please reply to my ad selling a red bridge in SF.

Americans need guns to protect them from people like the criminally negligent FBI employees I just described above (maybe the same employee committed both the 2nd act, the affirmative lie/cover up, and the first act of criminal negligence),

Any American confronted with an argument favoring more gun laws, reply thusly: “Let me know when you favor a gun law starting with disarming every armed person who daily surrounds and protects Obama, Pelosi, Oprah, Rosie O’Donald, every famous Progressive person and politician, etc. etc……till then, the law is hypocritical and I disfavor hypocritical law and policy.”

      1. Is this the same jackass Leo who chastised students on national television for not calling law enforcement when they see something out of the ordinary?

  4. President Trump was being FAR too generous with the corrupt FBI. The latest SERIES of FAILURES (not “blunders,” but TOTAL FAILURES) was caused by systemic corruption within the FBI. Why systemic? Because it happens ALL of the time. Not just now and then.

In the Nikolas Cruz mass murder case, the FBI had MULTIPLE warnings and, each time, REFUSED to do ANYTHING.

    Result? Mass murder.

In the Omar Mateen mass murder case, the FBI was alerted that Omar Mateen had attempted to purchase body armor and a thousand rounds of ammunition, when Mateen only lived a few miles from the gun store. The FBI came once to visit, just like they did in the Nikolas Cruz case and then did NOTHING.

    Result? Mass Murder.

In the Fort Hood mass murder case, the FBI was alerted that Nidal Hassan was a DANGER to the soldiers he came in contact with. An investigation was recommended. But the FBI agreed that Hassan should not be investigated because it “would harm his military career.”

    Result? Mass Murder.

I could on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on with the the vile FBI, but if you still believe that the FBI is a great organization that just makes “blunders” every now and then, then you are too stupid for any discussion.

Yet, there ARE things that the FBI does very, very well. LYING to Americans, for one. They are absolutely SUPERB at that. Violating civil rights through illegal searches. They are GREAT at doing that. Engaging in POLITICAL WARFARE against candidates that are not members of the Deep State. They do a WONDERFUL job at that. Has anybody read the history of the FBI where the FBI illegally recorded Martin Luther King and then attempted to try to get him to commit suicide? Does anybody here remember when Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Bruce Orr worked full time on trying to undermine Donald Trump’s campaign, and then, when they were caught doing so, were merely transferred by the FBI to protect them, instead of FIRING THEM?

President Trump was merely COMPLIMENTING the FBI on their terrific skills at trying to interfere with the Presidential election, with trying to help their favored candidate, the corrupt Hillary Clinton, and with taking the extra steps to obtain a FISA warrant from knowingly bogus documentation.

I don’t doubt there will be a follow up investigation of the latest mass murder. That “investigation” will also, no doubt, be conducted by people of a similar mindset to that exhibited by Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Bruce Orr.

The objective of the “investigation?” To protect the guilty within the FBI, of course.

    1. Hang in there Squeeky. Mueller says that after spending another $26 million “investigating” that he will identify two other Russians that have used handles, rather than their real names, on Twitter and Facebook. I’m feeling sooooo much safer now, knowing that Mueller has America’s interests at heart. How about you?

    2. Ten years ago, Obergruppenfuhrer Mueller missed Hillary Clinton’s Uranium One Scandal, Hillary’s sanction-violating Veropharm deal with Russians and Abbott Labs (subsequent to which Joseph Rago died of sudden-onset (sarcasm) “sarcoidosis”) and Mannafort’s orignial crimes. Either he missed them or he was complicit.

I’m beginning to see a pattern here with Mueller who is either a criminal or an incompetent. What did Mueller know and when did he know it? Ditto Rosenstein.

Geez! That pretty much takes care of everybody on the fabled-cum-notorious “7th Floor” at the FBI.

      1. My OPINION is that Muellar is an empty suit. Time will tell for sure, but the fact that he hasn’t dropped the whole collusion silliness tends to back up my OPINION, IMHO.

    1. Politicizing the dead bodies of children. No shame. I can’t really hold it against you though, as your mental and cognitive level has been displayed here ad nauseum via your off-kilter posts to the point where your competency is questionable. His rants are, consistently, useless and meaningless, as he is incapable of contributing anything intelligent or worthwhile. He thinks that he contributes by sadly attempting to bash those with whom he disagrees. A pathetic being, who, I assume, is a desperately lonely and isolated weirdo. Ignore him. He’s a loser.

          1. How true. I could stand Marky Mark if he ever said anything intelligent, but he usually just drops in and calls people names and makes pronouncements and then on to the next comment. But communicating with him and several others is like talking to someone with Aspergers. They are only about half way into any conversation because the other half of them is somewhere off in their own little Universe. Sheeesh, I mean I am usually in several places at once mentally, but I am fully in each of those places when I communicate.

      3. Marky Mark re: “Politicizing the dead bodies of children. No shame.” Agree – your gal HRC tweeting about Parkland to get back in the news is grotesque. Beyond the pale actually when one thinks of the dead children in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Haiti…

        1. The Left is trying to call the kettle black. The FBI is politicized with Leftists, but the Left defends the politicized FBI because they both have the same common political agenda: more mass murders as a pretext to demand their anti-liberty agenda. They don’t care about children. They don’t care about Americans. They don’t care about decent people. The truth is they hate all of them. They want the FBI to continue to be politicized and to continue its deliberate non-stop failure to protect American lives. American lives are merely stepping stones to pursue their anti-liberty Leftist agenda. The Leftists are the lowest creatures on the face of the Earth.

        2. Parkland kids are gonna March like da pink hats ladies against da misogynists and those that take bookoos if money from NRA. If anyone can grap da power back from da NRA it is teens.

  6. Christopher Wray must resign and be prosecuted for gross negligence, dereliction, corruption and incompetence.

The entire “7th Floor” must be prosecuted and/or demoted and reassigned.

If this were Japan a few short decades ago, the inestimable Mr. Wray would have already committed hara kiri.

  7. He has a point in that the FBI (a) failed to act against someone who had serious issues and, in fact, claimed he wanted to be a school shooter, and (b) has gone after him in a highly partisan and personal manner.

That said, let’s not lose sight of the fact that no one, in fact, was responsible. Not one person believed his/her organization bore responsibility for taking action.

When everyone is responsible, no one is. It’s certainly not the job of the NRA.

  8. To me Trump is such a vile person that I can barely stand to look at him. I abhor his fake religious pose and his fake condolences. I also hope you quit going on FOX to defend him. I know you are trying to be objective but he doesn’t deserve it. I have not said this before

      1. Irrelevant. Stay focused on point. The issue is the person who’s currently president. But typical. Your leaders at Pravda Faux News are likely still shilling the hillary trope.

  9. Speaking of Russian propaganda – who could even watch media over the past decade (or even some of the hysterical liberal posters on this blog) and not chuckle at the apt description of these people from Yuri Besmenov? I think Trump probably believes at least a few of these leftists are salvageable whereas most of us know that they are not. Our best bet is to save our youth from the contaminates and fahgettabout the contaminated……..

“The result you can see … the people who graduated in the 60’s, dropouts or half-baked intellectuals, are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, and educational systems. You are stuck with them. You can’t get through to them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern [alluding to Pavlov]. You cannot change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black, you still can not change the basic perception and the logic of behavior.”

“In other words [for] these people the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible. To rid society of these people you need another 15 or 20 years to educate a new generation of patriotically minded and common sense people who would be acting in favor and in the interests of United States society.”

      1. Once you see it – you can not un-see it. I’ve learned to simply scroll past the “contaminated” on this blog and elsewhere. I would just mock them because, well, what else is there to do with them?

Trump has been a huge step toward speeding up the “educating a new generation” process, don’t you think, Squeeky?

        1. I’ve learned to simply scroll past the “contaminated” on this blog and elsewhere.

Likewise. It all begins with the host and what he encourages. This blog has the opportunity to teach people to think objectively and with right reason, but that is not rewarded. Instead JT rewards frequent post miles and the usual suspects post the usual garbage in multiple posts to log the miles. Whatever my contribution has been to that in the past will not be there in the future. There are other blogs that aren’t tabloid news sites masquerading as legal blogs.

    1. WB, I have always found your comments intellectually honest, factual, and interesting. I hope you’ll reconsider and stay around. As in real life, the key is NOT to engage with the nonsensical ramblings of the Russian victims………

      1. The Russian trolls have been told to write fake stories saying they were attacked at Black Panther showings.

    1. “Troll factory?” You mean, like working at the WaPo, NYT, or Silicon Valley?

  11. Turley, from the moment the first shot was fired at Parkland, the mainstream media began blaming Trump because he hadn’t signed a gun measure regarding mental health.

Here’s a tweet that reinforced Trump’s analysis of Parkland:

“It’s remarkable, Mr. President, how you’ve spotlighted the “inclusion” issue. No other civilized society allows its kids to be vile, mean, horrible, spoiled specimens who routinely bully, shun, alienate and hurt non-conformists, making them feel they don’t belong.’

Naturally, the mainstream media didn’t like Trump’s analysis, accusing him of victim-blaming.

No matter what Trump ever says, he can’t win when it comes to the mainstream media. The truth is, the FBI is a corrupt bureaucracy, which has been getting free passes, like so much of law enforcement in our nation, for far too long. Where it is rare to ever find a Republican critical of law enforcement, Trump makes the exception when he sees truth. Where that should be seen as virtue, Turley sees as mortal sin.

Every student body across our nation is riddled with uncivil players because the adult population is more uncivil. I don’t think this was as much the case before the Greatest Generation gave birth to Baby Boomers. Where every school once had a principal, secretary, nurse, and janitor, today, far more money is spent on admin than for actual teachers.

What this country needs is an ass kicker in every position of leadership, and an honest one like Trump.

    1. Da sex fiend T rump is not honest in any area of his life. He lied to Melania and all his wives. Cheaters ain’t honest people.

        1. At lest da others were smart men that lied, but a liar is a liar. T rump appears to have sex with porn stars and low lifes while Roosevelt had mistresses. All are liars but T rump seems to be attracted to da dark underworld of hookers where blackmail is a real possibility.

          1. Ken – you didn’t deal with JFK who was sharing a mistress with a Mafia don. Or Clinton who was a rapist.

        2. Paul

We have already put FDR and JFK in the ground. We have put Clinton out to pasture.

It remains to be seen where we put Trump. Club Fed? Resignation for health reasons? Cirque du Soleil?

          1. With regard to the last one, you need to be quite flexible. Like a pretzel. Plus, there are those spray-painted unitards.

            Just sayin’.

        3. Putin sent him hookers and they got da goods. Paula Jones was not a good lookin gal but she did not live in da mob world of hookers. Same can be said of Clinton’s mistress Jen Flowers.

        4. Da women threw themselves at Kennedy. Did he sexually assault 30 women like that Weinstein fiend T rump did? Never heard that one.

          1. The Kennedys weren’t just a bunch innocents, who were besieged by hordes of women. Get real, you idiot. They were predators. Plain and simple. Predators, albeit, predators with big toothy grins, lots of thick hair and crew neck sweaters. Dirtbags, with money. That’s it. Scum. Filth. Yrs, scum and filth who had money, which got them into Harvard and prevented their expulsion when they cheated and lied. Money. Money that bought and paid for elections. At least, be honest. The Kennedys used and abused women, every which way that they could. Old Man Joe taught them that little nugget. They didn’t abuse women? Women just fell from the sky? Well, I suppose that drowning a pregnant secretary, leaving her in a watery grave, running away from the scene of an accident, isn’t technically, abuse. Just women throwing themselves after good-looking jocks. Horseplay. And, shall we begin with Marilyn Monroe, who the Kennedy boys passed around like a Christmas fruitcake? Nah. No abuse there. And, her death? A death scene, covered up after she threatened to expose some of the pillow talk with the boys? Nah. No abuse. Just a little horseplay. Boys will be boys.

            1. Yes they did abuse women but what was done by da dad a hundred plus years ago and was was done by others 50 to 60 years ago has nothin to do with T rump’s sexual misconduct in da present. Misogyny ruled da day back then. T rump
Lives in da past when a rich dude could grab da women and assault em and play spanky and pee pee with hookers with no consequences. Da worm has turned.

          2. Ken “I live under a rock,” who never heard of Ted Kennedy, who murdered his mistress while drunk, then had his attorneys bring literally brief cases of cash to the mistress’s parents to pay them to shut their mouths, which they quickly did just that (prior to that they demanded Kennedy’s head). BTW, Kennedy’s entire clan, friend, and attorneys covered for Ted when he appeared drunk and wet and his compound, after Mary Jo drowned. Forensics prove Ted was driving, putting the lie to his claim that Mary drove.

Ken, who apparently does not realize the election is over, and his gal lost.

        5. You mean FDR who died in 1945? Kennedy who died in 1963? Clinton who has been out of office for 20 years?

You guys got nothing and I mean NOTHING.

          1. kathy – just talking about cheaters. Everyone I mentioned was a cheater but revered by the Democratic Party. Ken said that cheaters were not honest people, therefore FDR, JFK, and Clinton are not honest people.

            1. But the former presidents’ adultery wasn’t common knowledge while they were still president. Thus, those former situations have no relevance to the current abomination.

This is to “just parroting the hannity” line paulie

              1. Marky Mark Mark – evidently they did not teach critical thinking in your alleged law school. Go back and see what the original point was, twit.

              2. “But the former presidents’ adultery wasn’t common knowledge ”

Dummies like Mark didn’t know of JFK’s adultery. Almost every aware person did but was intelligent enough to recognize that the personal lives of leaders should be kept distinct from their leadership role. Mark is a loser and tired of losing so such recognition is beyond his ability.

          2. Good, then you’ve got nothing to worry about. The Dems take over both houses, Pence becomes POTUS, and you get to live happily ever after!

Just like HRC has 97% chance of winning!

      1. I thought you’d deep-sixed yourself, but I guess you thought my comment was valuable enough to stick around.

        1. He’s like a bad cucumber sandwich. He keeps coming back up. . .mere threats to leave, only to stick around and supply useless and inconsequential dribble. At least, at one point, cucumber sandwiches are pleasant and enjoyable. . .with him, only the coming back up, with gas and a burp, connects him to the sandwhich. . .

  12. The problem with the “false association” is that many Americans had exactly the same thought before Trump tweeted.

      1. Learn to read. The tip was received at the national level and never passed to the local level.

  13. ” It is obviously a false association since the local and national offices dealing with such school threats are entirely removed by the Russian investigation.

Actually, the tip was received at the national level and never forwarded to the local level because, according to the FBI, the center receiving such tips is grossly understaffed. Not that it makes me happy to agree with Trump, but the comment he made actually has considerable validity. The nation would be better served if the people trying to find a causas belli with Russia were transferred to the office dealing with tips from the public.

    1. Don’t fret, Bill. JT, and his pals, are not about to let something as insignificant as the facts get in the way of ruining a great story. So what if he has to twist the details, a tad, where the gist of this article is that the FBI, at the national level, was in no way involved in this tragedy? How dare you point out that there was, in fact, a lapse at the national level and not just at the local level! How dare you! You must be a part of the swamp! Why, if that is true, then Trump wasn’t so off the mark in his comments! But, don’t you get it? Disseminating incorrect info makes for a better story because the truth is not so salacious. Faux facts make for an easier platform for JT to criticize Trump. Don’t you get that? Details, shmee-tails. Trump is to blame. Just remember that line. Will JT be so bold as to print a retraction, claiming that there was, in fact, a failure at the FBI on a national level? Ya think? I won’t hold my breath.

      1. Actually, the original failure belongs to you, and those other gullible rubes of your ilk, who were taken in by the big con. There was a consistent drumbeat of warnings about this charlatan which you dupes ignored and elected anyway. Sit tight; we will fix it for you in November.

this is to “what was I thinking” bammie

  14. Regardless of whether or not all the Russian influence amounted to nothing, never came near Trump and he knew nothing, his statements in light of the events that should shape America are deplorable. To equate the FBI’s oversight of the Russian ‘stuff’ with negligence in Miami reveals the mind of a liar who will say anything in order to draw his minions and dupes closer to him. Add up the 2000+ lies Trump has made since he started this, not to mention his lifetime of lying, add in is history of bankruptcies at the expense of contractors not being paid, add in his self avowed inclusion of ‘debt’ as his vehicle to success, add in the ridiculous statements he continually spews, and the result is a ‘lying sack of shi*’.

Or, he could be just a guy trying to do his job. What is telling here is that Obama is labeled as a ‘lying sack of shi*’ by those who are defending this travesty. Not just a little hypocrisy.

Obama, regardless of any accusations and their substance, instituted a bill to restrict gun ownership, something this country sorely needs and that finds the vast majority in favor of. Trump, out of spite, or paying the gun industry oligarchs, or perhaps simply because of his mental deficiencies, repeals the bill that is putting the solving of this shame in motion. Then he blames the slaughter on the FBI. The FBI had previously taken responsibility by stating that they let the madman slip. Trump not only blames the FBI but tries to make political hay out of it.

It’s one thing to lie about the size of the crowd at one’s inauguration. That is funny. Trump used to be funny before he became America’s worst nightmare. Trump was a rich clown who make the tabloids and gave people something to read at the check out counters and on the subway. Trump is sometimes still funny, which provides some relief given that he is President. However, if you miss the insight into this disgusting excuse for a human being illustrated by some of his statements, ie. Mueller and his use of FBI assets are the cause of the slaughter in Miami and not his repeal of Obama’s attempt to respond to the wishes of the American people and curb access of guns by nutcases, then you are truly nothing more than a dupe of this ‘lying sack of shi*’.

The slaughter in Miami is a result of the sacred ‘hands off my guns’ structure of our society. In only five states can a perceived threat be legally pursued by having that perceived threat losing possession of its guns. Florida is not one of those states. It’s not about the second amendment. It’s not about the right to have a gun. It is about the unbridled ability of the gun industry to manufacture and sell as many guns as possible for the greatest profit. In many countries, including Canada, citizens have the right to ‘bear arms’. However, their societies request that they do so responsibly and within reasonable limitations. When someone equates the ‘right to bear arms’ with owning an arsenal, walking around armed, brandishing weapons online without recourse, then that person is partially responsible for the slaughter. Trump falls into that category.

    1. issac – if Mueller has 500 agents assigned to him, who is watching the terrorists or the store? Trump is dead right. Too many cooks spoil the broth.

      1. Your comment is a reflection of whats fed to you via the airwaves. The FBI has better than 38k agents.

      2. Do Mueller’s agents cover Broward County? Nope they have a large office of their own. Da field offices have not been cut back unless. T rump cut da offices budgets.

    2. ” ‘lying sack of shi*’.” Issac’s answer to all questions and his facts do not match with the truth.

Just one example: “Obama, regardless of any accusations and their substance, instituted a bill to restrict gun ownership, something this country sorely needs and that finds the vast majority in favor of. Trump, out of spite, or paying the gun industry oligarchs, or perhaps simply because of his mental deficiencies, repeals the bill”

Trump didn’t repeal the bill. He repealed a portion of the broad brush order of Obama’s that denied the right to own arms to people that should never have been denied that right. That right could exclude a very sane war veteran or police veteran or even an FBI veteran from owning a gun when their mental status (regarding guns) was as good as or better than the general public. He left that portion of the bill that denied guns to the mentally ill and other unsuitable persons unchanged. He was supported by the ACLU and disability rights groups who were being discriminated against.

So who is the ” ‘lying sack of shi*’.”?

      1. “President Trump signed a bill blocking Obama-era background checks on guns for people with mental illnesses.

        RATING-MOSTLY TRUE

        ORIGIN

In the wake of a horrific school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 dead in February 2018, media renewed focus on an Obama-era regulation repealed in the early months of the Trump administration. That rule would have given the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which is used for gun sales, access to Social Security Administration data including the names of individuals receiving certain federal mental health benefits.

As we explained in a 17 February 2017 post, this rule — which never went into effect before being rescinded — did not change any existing laws regulating who is allowed to purchase guns. It merely would have provided a new way to enforce existing restrictions on gun sales by allowing a transfer of information from one agency to another. There are now, and have been for some time, laws that seek to limit gun sales to anyone “who has been adjudicated as a mental defective or who has been committed to a mental institution” per Title 18 section 922(g) of the United States Code. However, according to the Associated Press:

The Obama rule would have prevented an estimated 75,000 people with mental disorders from being able to purchase a firearm. It was crafted as part of Obama’s efforts to strengthen the federal background check system in the wake of the 2012 massacre of 20 young students and six staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
The rule was rescinded using a legal procedure called the the Congressional Review Act, which, prior to the Trump Administration, was obscure and little-used. It allows regulations passed in the final days of one administration to be rescinded with a simple majority vote in both chambers of Congress during the first 60 days of a new administration. The Senate sent their repeal of the Obama-era measure for Trump’s signature on 15 February 2017 — a year and a day before the Parkland shooting — and Trump signed it into law the next week, on 28 February 2017.

While the law did not change who is required to be the subject of background checks, it is true that Trump signed into law the repeal of a measure that would have plausibly prevented certain classes of mentally ill people from purchasing firearms by allowing a new data source to be included the system that runs those background checks. As such we rank the claim mostly true.”

The above article in Snopes is corroborated by enough publications that it can be taken as factual, at least more factual than the ‘cherry picked’ post by Allan. The overwhelming fact of the matter, regardless of any pontifications on the Constitution, Bill of Rights, or other ‘sacred texts’, is that there are two directions, as with just about all the issues in this polarized nation, concerning guns. One direction that holds its perverse sway at the moment points towards no restrictions; restrictions are unholy. The other direction simply states that some people should not have access to guns and it is the government’s job to determine who.

There will always be the ilk that will say, “It would have happened anyway, the nut would have used a knife or a car.” However, the overwhelming proof in parallel universes is that where guns are a privilege and not a right, where the attitude is to protect society from the crazies, where John Wayne is dead and forgotten, where nonsense does not find its way to the Supreme Court, etc. the murder and carnage is remarkably less, per capita or how ever else one wishes to view the facts.

So, who’s the lying sack of sh*^? Trump, an established fact with thousands of examples for proof, and perhaps… Allan, look in the mirror.

One thing is factual, Trump is going in the direction that embraces more carnage and slaughter. Obama was attempting to go in the direction that would limit it. Any argument to this, is not only pathetic but shameful, even worse.

        1. Issac now read what was actually done rather than a leftist interpretation and then you might learn who the ”‘lying sack of shi*’.” is.

      2. Stay focused. I understand that Pravda Faux News has likely issued talking points regarding President Barack HUSSEIN Obama, the greatest President of the United States and Commander in Chief since Harry Truman. However, he is no longer president. The orange charlatan is. Save all of your misguided efforts for the current bozo in chief.

this is to “when the truth hurts, just make sh*t up” allan

        1. Read what Trump signed Mark. I forget, to you reading and understanding is a lost art.

      1. swm – the cops went to his house 29 times, the FBI got a tip and somehow it is Trump’s fault? You are a twit.

      2. You get a David Hogg because Democrats tell them that “gun control” will magically solve gun violence. Sorry, David, but there are laws against felons possessing guns, and the laws don’t get enforced,n sooo what makes you think “gun control” would have fixed this???

Plus, here, the “good guys” with guns went to the murderer’s house 39 times and never arrested him once, and the “good guys” with guns in the FBI couldn’t be bothered to check him out, when they were tipped off!
