Pandemic Passport And The Danger Of Immuno Discrimination

1193px-SARS-CoV-2_without_backgroundBelow is a longer version of my column that ran in the Los Angeles Times on the danger of using antibody testing as a basis for discrimination.  The concept of a pandemic passport of course will only be plausible if such antibodies truly yield a form of immunity.  The WHO has declared that there is no evidence to support that claim.  Yet, plasma treatments are reportedly successful.

Here is the column:

With the coronavirus antibody tests being rolled out, the country is about to be flooded with millions of tests to determine if individuals have already been exposed to the virus and presumably have immunity from it. The development is key for researchers to understand both the scope and spread of the virus as well as how close we may be to a type of “herd immunity.” That public health breakthrough however could trigger some difficult legal questions. First and foremost, what if you are not part of the herd? The country may soon have to deal with a new concept of bias: antibody or immuno discrimination.

There is a growing and urgent need to get this economy rolling as the virus outbreak subsides. President Donald Trump is correct that destroying this economy will ruin the lives and dreams (and yes health) of tens of millions of citizens. It could reduce the horizon for an entire generation saddled with crippling debt and reduced markets.

Recovery will occur only to the degree that people feel comfortable about getting on airplanes, trains, buses, restaurants, and other closed spaces. With a vaccine projected as still a year away, the population could soon be divided into the immunized and the potentially contagious. If you are in the later group, the question is whether you can be denied certain services.

It is not as far-fetched as you might think. Take the airlines. Planes need to be near capacity to be profitable as a general rule. Social distancing on an airplane is not economically viable. One solution is to require proof of antibodies in your system with one of these available tests. Indeed, the airlines this week floated the idea of a required blood test. That conversely would create barriers to those who are immuno signatures.

Various countries are already using tracking technology to identify carriers and the same technology can be used to distinguish those who are immune. In Moscow, the government has issued “digital permits” to travel that bars others from public transport and even car traffic.

Our legal system is poorly suited for discrimination based on antigens. The discrimination laws focus on immutable characteristics like race and there are both constitutional and statutory protections for those singled out for their religion, gender, sexual orientation, and other classifications. This is not an immutable characteristic but one based on the status of a person’s immunity from a virus.

The other area of relevant law covers quarantine powers in a pandemic. However, those laws and cases focus on confining the contagious, not the potentially contagious.

This issue could actually become more acute once a vaccination is available. The imposition of a mandatory vaccine would be necessary to prevent a renewed outbreak. Putting aside the logistics of vaccinating over 300 million people, many will object or fail to comply. They will continue to represent a fertile population for the virus to take hold. There are three ways to maximize immunization. First, make it mandatory. Second, convince people that they need it. Third, give him an incentive or disincentive in complying.

The first option will turn on a 1905 case where the Supreme Court upheld a state mandatory vaccination program of school children for small pox in Massachusetts. In Jacobson v. Massachusetts (1905), the Court found that such programs are the quintessential state power rather than a federal power. It also held that “every well-ordered society charged with the duty of conserving the safety of its members the rights of the individual in respect of his liberty may at times, under the pressure of great dangers, be subjected to such restraint, to be enforced by reasonable regulations, as the safety of the general public may demand.” States are allowed to subject citizens to restraints to protect “general comfort, health, and prosperity of the State.” The Congress should fund a national vaccinations program and leave mandatory compliance orders to the states.

The second option is already well-established in the minds of most citizens. A deadly pandemic helps. However, we continue to be ministers die who defied orders against large services and young people who put spring break above survival concerns. There will continue to be a percentage of citizens who simply do not believe the virus will touch them or faith or youth will protect them.

That leaves the third option. If people face limitations on travel and employment, a rational actor is likely to comply even if they see little need to do so otherwise. Yet, such a system of proven immunization will create an insular group of the immune deficient. In Jacobson, the law focused on children and the penalties were being blocked from school and a small fine. With the coronavirus, a state would have to compel the population at large of every age.

Some may raise religious or other constitutional rights to refuse a vaccine. The states will have a strong argument that this is not a case of simply self-inflicted harm like those who handle snakes as a matter of faith. By not complying, individuals are fueling the spread to others, particularly more vulnerable populations. In 1922, the Court ruled in Zucht v. King that a school system does not violate the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause in denying school to students who refused for any reason to be vaccination.

Most importantly, in 1944 in Prince v. Massachusetts, the Court upheld such mandatory programs because “the right to practice religion freely does not include liberty to expose the community or the child to communicable disease or the latter to ill health or death.”

The coronavirus vaccination program would be broader but still rely on the same precedent. Congress can impose limits on interstate travel and the Transportation Security Administration could impose entry requirements but gate areas. The question is whether private businesses like airlines could also make vaccination or immunity a condition for customers. Airlines are part of a regulated industry and could face difficulty in the unilateral imposition of such conditions.

Thus, while states are key to mandatory vaccinations, the federal government would be key to allowing travel restrictions and other barriers to the noncompliant. In doing so, the restrictions would have to trump the right to travel and other constitutional rights. The coercive impact on individuals would be extreme. Noncompliant and non-immune citizens would be isolated physically and socially. Moreover, to make such a system work, there would have to be an easy form of proof of immunization or vaccination – a type of antibody passport.

In the end, the federal and state government may decide to accept a certain level of noncompliance and resulting contraction of the virus. If this is a slowly mutating virus, a second wave may be manageable with therapeutics and ramped up resources. However, if the country wants to impose a mandatory program, it will have to deal with a new status dividing the population between the immune and non-immune.

  2. Mr. Turley-
I understand you are approaching this thorny issue from a legal context and appreciate your thoughts on this. Given that we do not live in a legal vacuum, a few other points may be worth considering:

The possibility of scientists developing a perfectly functioning coronavirus vaccine is nil. The possibility of a well-functioning coronavirus vaccine? Very low. They have had over a decade to create a SARS vaccine and have been unable to. They have been working on an influenza vaccine since the late 1940s and have never been able to achieve anything very effective. Even if the vaccine worked perfectly, the length of time which it would protect is different for everyone. For a measles vaccine, it may last as long as 10 years in some people while for others, just a few. To make matters worse, the W.H.O. recently admitted that antibodies—as a measurement of coronavirus immunity—may be ineffective. How do airlines or other public services mitigate risk when a person’s vaccination status is a meaningless indicator?

Some vaccines don’t prevent the spread of disease at all, but simply lower the risk of serious harm to the recipient. For each coronavirus vaccine that is approved, they will all differ on these issues. For a coronavirus vaccine which doesn’t prevent its spread at all, why should we mandate its use when it has the potential to only affect the recipient? Some vaccines cause long-running side effects to the immune system, making people more vulnerable to other infections. How do you measure the net-benefit of protecting millions from coronavirus if the result is an increase in other respiratory illnesses, let alone other associated disorders?

This is just the beginning of a long sequence of variables that make immunological legality a very difficult area to intelligently and fairly judicate. Even if a perfect coronavirus vaccine existed, one that protected the spread of the virus, and one that protected for a known amount of time, the possibility of side effects for the person receiving it makes the calculus intractable.

This is to say nothing of the rampant abuse that would inevitably occur once government agencies have been given the green light to determine which medical procedures a given individual should or should not receive in order to be considered a citizen in good-standing (or able to work, receive their tax refund, vote, etc.). The correct response to this issue is for U.S. citizens to protect themselves as they see fit. Any other attempt to manage or dictate the health of its citizens, no matter how intelligent or knowledgeable the epidemiologists, politicians, and attorneys believe they are, will end poorly.

    Many thanks for your opinion.

  3. “CHINA FLU 2020”

WHO has no authority in the United States, honorary ascendancy bestowed by communists in America notwithstanding.

    WHO has no credibility.

    WHO is totally corrupt.

WHO is a tool of communist China and personal lackey of Xi Jinping.

Xi should get out his checkbook and start writing into infinity.

Every single COVID-19 case must be compensated for by China, from “patient zero” to the last COVID-19 related instance in history.

Germany sent China a £130 billion bill for coronavirus damages.

A news report by Express whose display headline claims that Germany has sent China a £130 billion bill for coronavirus damages has gone viral on social media. Angela Merkel hits out at China over its handling on Covid-19. The display picture of the article is of German chancellor Angela Merkel. Social media users, while sharing the article, have demanded that since Angela Merkel’s Germany has sent China an invoice of £130 billion for coronavirus damages, India should do the same and send Beijing an invoice of £300 billion.

CHINESE TAKEAWAY China owes Britain £351 billion for coronavirus pandemic and we should take them to court, study claims

CHINA owes Britain £351billion in coronavirus compensation and the government should pursue it through the international courts, a study has concluded.

An investigation into the crisis has claimed the horrific impacts of coronavirus could have been mitigated if China had just been more honest about the outbreak. The report, to be published tomorrow by the Henry Jackson Society (HJS), a British foreign policy think-tank, claims China directly breached international healthcare treaty responsibilities. It also argues there are ten legal avenues major nations – such as Britain – could take to pursue damages from Beijing. Experts calculated the G7, the world’s leading economies, face a bill of £3.2trillion. And they said this could have been avoided if the Communist Party was more open about coronavirus, reports The Mail on Sunday.

  4. I don’t believe anything the mainstream media, medical establishment or US govt is saying about the media. For those interested in the truth about what’s really going on, I highly recommend that people visit Jon Rappoport’s blog ( – he’s studied fake pandemics for 30 years and that’s whats going on.

First they are using bogus tests:

NIH Report ~ 80% False Positive !!!! Covid 19 Test Results..SPREAD THIS WIDE AND FAR

Here’s what the CDC says about the test for the Coronavirus by Jon Rappoport

Here is a CDC paragraph about results. I suggest you read it several times.

“Positive [test] results are indicative of active infection with 2019-nCoV but do not rule out bacterial infection or co-infection with other viruses. The agent detected may not be the definite cause of disease. Laboratories within the United States and its territories are required to report all positive results to the appropriate public health authorities.”

And they are deliberately trying to terrorize the world population by making them believe that we are dealing with the plague, when even Fauci (who has an extensive history of corruption) admits its similar to a bad flu:

Dr. Fauci Concedes the Coronavirus Mortality Rate May Be Much Closer to a Very Bad Flu

Israeli virologist urges world leaders to calm public, slams ‘unnecessary panic’
‘People think this virus is going to attack them all, and then they’re all going to die,’ says Prof. Jihad Bishara. ‘Not at all. In fact, most of those infected won’t even know it’

They are also deliberately inflating the death count. They are not determining cause of death.

Dr. Ngozi Director of public health Illinois. Explains how the COVID-19 deaths are counted.
Dr. Ngozi of Illinois says “I just want to be clear on the definition of people dying of covid. The case definition is very simplistic. It means at the time of death it was a covid positive diagnosis. That means if you were in hospice and already given a few weeks to live and then you were also found to have covid, then that would be a covid death. Technically, even if you died of a clear alternative cause, but you had covid at the same time, it’s still listed as a covid death. So, everyone that’s listed as a covid death, that doesn’t mean that covid was the cause of death. It means they had covid at the time of death.”

The federal government is classifying the deaths of patients infected with the coronavirus as COVID-19deaths, regardless of any underlying health issues that could have contributed to the loss….

    1. “You never let a serious crisis go to waste.

And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

      – Rahm Emanuel

The American Communist Deep Deep State called up Xi Jinping and told him. It’s a go. We’re calling in ‘danger close’ fire support! Related deaths and economic damage constitute acceptable losses as collateral damage. President Trump’s looming, historic landslide victory in November, with China in the cross hairs, can never be allowed to happen and must be stopped by any and all means.”

Xi Jinping said, “Comrades, I understand your message and concur. It’s a go. I am in full agreement. I will fully adhere to and comply with the protocol of our black ‘treaty.’ Hail Globalization. Hail China. Karl Marx bless us all!”

    2. Oh God. Even if people have “co-morbidities”, if they were doing fine before getting infected, COVID-19 is the cause of death. That death is properly listed as due to COVID-19. This is a common insurance company ploy that I never thought would be used to try to confuse the issues when someone who cheated to win an election botched the response to a predicted pandemic.

The argument goes like this: if you are in a bad accident and injure your back so that you need surgery, if you ever had any condition involving your back in your life, the insurance company lawyer tries to confuse the jury by arguing that the accident really wasn’t the cause because you had a bad back to begin with. If you had no ongoing symptoms, weren’t being treated, and could work and enjoy life up to the accident, by law, the accident was the sole cause, regardless of your past history, even if caused you to be more-susceptible to injury than someone without a prior history of back problems. The person causing the wreck bears responsibility for the whole loss because the victim was doing fine before being injured. The tort class example is the person with an “eggshell skull”, who gets hit on the head and suffers a skull fracture due to the negligence of another person. Despite the fact that the victim was more vulnerable than the average person to skull fracture because of delicate bone structure, he/she didn’t have a fracture before getting injured, so the responsible party cannot defend his actions or try to escape paying for the damage done by blaming the victim’s susceptibility to injury. A tort law adage: “the tortfeasor takes his victim as he finds him.” The same is true for COVID-19.

People with conditions like diabetes, heart and lung disease are more susceptible to serious illness and death from COVID-19, but the cause of death and illness is still COVID-19. Trying to argue that co-morbidities should be blamed instead of COVID-19 and to so skew the statistics as a means to defend against Trump’s lying and incompetence is outrageous.

      1. NUTCHACHA,

In a statistical study, if patients with comorbidities die from COVID-19 and patients without comorbidities rarely die from COVID-19, patients with comorbidities die of comorbidities and do not die of COVID-19.

        COVID-19 kills patients with comorbidities.

COVID-19 rarely kills patients without comorbidities.

Patients may have contracted COVID-19 and COVID-19 may have acted as a catalyst, but comorbidities killed the patients.

Comorbidities and COVID-19 are different, and cannot be and are not the same causes of death.

“Underlying conditions like diabetes and heart disease appear to be risk factors”

“This is also now showing up in US hospital data reported to the CDC: Many of the sickest Covid-19 patients also have underlying medical conditions. Seventy-eight percent of all people put into intensive care for Covid-19 in the US have had an underlying condition like diabetes or heart disease: 32 percent had diabetes, 29 percent had heart disease, 21 percent had chronic lung disease, and 9 percent had compromised immune systems.

“We know that certain communities are disproportionately affected by these chronic conditions. In Chicago, 70 percent of those who have died from Covid-19 are black, even though black people make up only 29 percent of the city’s population. “The majority of the black COVID-19 patients who died had underlying health conditions including respiratory problems and diabetes. Eighty-one percent of them had hypertension, or high blood pressure, diabetes or both,” WBEZ in Chicago reports.”

        – Vox

        1. But it remains a fact that if Trump wasn’t lazy, arrogant and didn’t have ADD, and had paid attention to the briefings and shut down things 10 days earlier, 90% of cases would not have happened.

No matter how many co-morbidities someone has, if COVID-19 played a role in their death, then the death is due to COVID-19, regardless of how susceptible the person was. That is the same disingenuous argument made by insurance companies to avoid paying claims, but it can confuse jurors. The fact is, if the US didn’t have COVID-19, these victims would be alive with their comorbidities.

All of this is to try to confuse the issues in an effort to deflect blame away from Trump for ignoring the multiple warnings when there were only a handful of cases, by downplaying the risk, by lying and trying to bluff his way through this crisis. Anything to try to short sell the death and morbidity statistics that prove how much damage he has done to this country.

    3. Jon’s a good guy listen to & he knows how harmful vaccines are to people.

Below is one of the many important stoeies nor being reported by the old propaganda media.

American farmers/ranchers being told distory crops & livestock because of the Chicom bio-weapon flu/Bill Gates/Dr Fauci/Who/etc.

  5. It’s amusing to watch liberals freak out but it’s scary to see how easily they will opt for a version of police state/totalitarian government. We saw this most recently as so many liberals attached themselves to socialists like Bernie Sanders and appreciated Venezuela, Cuba and Chinese Communist Party but now they use a virus to create an opportunity for a police state and for a subversion of rights. Liberals are scary because they are so easily manipulated. THey are Orwell’s sheep and the Democrats and Socialists are his pigs.

    1. Spoken like a true Fox News disciple: pigeonholing people as “liberals” if they are in favor of things like universal health coverage and free higher education. Exactly what “rights” do you believe you have that you believe are being “subverted”? Do you have a right to either expose others to your deadly infection, or contract it yourself? If you have the virus, but are asymptomatic, you will spread it to others who could die, or be very ill. Do you have the right to do this to others? Setting aside unnecessary deaths and suffering, who pays for your care if you get the virus? Who pays for the care of those to whom you spread it? If someone goes on a ventilator, the average length of time is about 10 days just in ICU, which is horrendously expensive. Now, it appears that people in their 30s and 40s are having strokes because COVID-19 causes blood clotting disorders. If a stroke doesn’t kill you, it could leave you with serious impairments, including permanent disability, but even if you survive, you will need blood thinners and close monitoring, probably for the rest of your life.

Is it fair to spread the cost of taking care of additional COVID-19 victims to others who are insured, which will increase premiums, or to Medicare or Medicaid, covered by taxpayers? Or, is it fair that you or your victims receive care that hospitals are forced to write off, which causes rates to increase? Or, maybe, you just take bankruptcy, so that the cost of credit goes up for everyone else, and also hospital costs increase. Who supports your minor children while you can’t work or if you die? Doesn’t society have an interest in preventing the spread of infections, solely for economic reasons?

Fox News disciples like you are the scary ones because you are so easily manipulated into believing that your rights are being trampled on by “Dems’, “libs” and “the Left”.

      1. I think their rights are being trampled by Fascists going by the name of Progressives, liberals and Democrats. Also there is their Brown Shirt faction, ANTIFA.

        1. The word you seek is communist (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats).

          1. George– The word I sought was Fascist. The Fascists are simply another variety of socialist.

Mussolini who used the term for his party was a life-long prominent socialist agitator and writer. The Italian vernacular for a union was Fascist. The National SOCIALIST German WORKERS Party (aka Nazi) regarded themselves as a pefected form of socialist.

It is no accident that all of their thuggish methods are alike. ANTIFA is Fascist.

      2. NUTCHACHA, you have no idea which country you’re in or its thesis. The concept of freedom through self-reliance produced Article 1, Section 8, wherein Congress has the power to tax only for “…general Welfare…,” omitting and, thereby, excluding any power to tax for individual or specific welfare, aka charity and redistribution of wealth. You really need to apply for emigration to China, Cuba, North Korea or some other communist Shangri La. I hear Liberia is nice this time of year. You are the enemy of America and the United States Constitution – a traitor.

  6. reportedly like purportedly and allegedly are synonyms for un proven

    1. And “unproven” does not imply that something does not work or is not true.

  7. Holy crap. Now we’re going to start whining about discrimination in biology? Who would be the alleged perpetrator? Your parents? God?

  8. This concept of government as a leviathan that will envelope us has been at the forefront of Conservative political ideology forever. Why is it at the 11th hour this wisdom finally finds purchase with the fence sitters and squishy middle?

  9. We are seeing more evidence that our response to the Wuhan Virus has been a panic-filled farce. We will see the real suffering economically and many should be called to answer for the poor judgment including political and medical leaders. Open the schools and businesses, toss the masks and let herd immunity take effect and finally, learn something from our Swedish brothers that the real epidemic to fight is fear and not some 4 micron virus.

We used to be a lot tougher in the sterner days of yore.

    1. First of all, there is no “Wuhan Virus”. “Panic-filled farce?” One Million Americans contracting this disease, about 60K have died, and you think this is a “farce”? “Poor judgment”–you mean taking measures that stopped the infection rate from being in the millions by now, which would have broken our health care system? The only reason that didn’t happen is because of the measures taken by local government leaders to blunt the peak.

If Fat Boy had only listened to and acted upon the multiple warnings from the intelligence community and other agencies, starting in January, and things had been closed down 2 weeks sooner, 90% of these infections would not have happened. Because he doesn’t care and also because he has ADD and won’t actually read Presidential Daily Briefings, he receives a Cliffs-Notes version of the highlights about 3 times a week, according to sources. Even after he figured it out, he called it a “hoax”, said 15 cases would soon be 0 cases, said we’d have a vaccine “very quickly”, he pushed for dangerous medical treatments, and had Kellyanne and Kudlow lie by claiming the virus was “contained”. If anything, this should be called the “Trump Virus”. His laziness, incompetence, bluffing, lying and downplaying of the risk is responsible for 90% of the suffering, which includes the economic impact.

The real epidemic to fight is Trump and slow-witted people like the Lt. Gov. of Texas who actually said that death is less important than the economy. BTW: most Americans do not think things should open up right now. I am doubting that most people will return to theaters, restaurants, airplanes or other closed spaces until there is a vaccine.

      1. nutcha:

I said: “We are seeing more evidence that our response to the Wuhan Virus has been a panic-filled farce.”
You said: First of all, there is no “Wuhan Virus”. “Panic-filled farce?” One Million Americans contracting this disease, about 60K have died, and you think this is a “farce”?

The reason people don;t respond to you is you don;t read their comments. You search out some cherrys and try to make lemonade. I guess you’re an ESL person since the subject of my comment was “our response to the Wuhan Virus” not “the Wuhan Virus.” And there is surely a thing known as the Wuhan Virus: (
except in the PC circles you must inhabit. Lastly, this virus is a run of the mill corona virus like the flu and as for your breathless claim of 60,000 dead (fatality rate of .10%), maybe you’d best realize that’s about what bad annual influenza “epidemic” kills few years (fatality rate of .09%).

Oh and by the way, the “measures” (i.e., social distancing) we are taking were figured into the projections that went from a million to 250,000 to 100,000 to now less than 60,000 and that even with the fudged hospital numbers caused by reimbursement rates tied to what the hospital says caused the deaths. If you don’t believe me you can look it up yourself. I’m tired of throwing pearls in the slop pen.

Shall we stop society every few years for the flu, cupcake? Unless you think we should, you must agree this is the very dictionary illustration of a “panic-filled farce.”

      2. NUTCHACHA,

If there was a “Spanish Flu” there is now a “China Flu.”

The best evidence has proven China to be guilty of gross negligence and dereliction, if not malice.

The best evidence has also proven that China was the cause of the Spanish Flu of 1918.

China must be held accountable for compensation for global economic damage and mass wrongful death.

China must be sued into insolvency, its global assets frozen, debt payments to China frozen and “China Flu” tariffs imposed.

        China is over.

        1. The WHO, of which the U.S. has members embedded, names novel viruses, and the name has nothing to do with politics. It could turn out that the virus mutated someplace else, but only spread rapidly in Wuhan.

It’s a story young children like Nancy Antoinette, A-damn Schiff, Chuckie Shoomer, Hillary, Obama, the MSM, democrats, liberals, progressives, socialists and communists throughout the United States should learn.

      “Henny-Penny: The Sky is Falling!”

Henny-Penny is a story young children should learn early: trying to incite panic can result in opportunists like Foxy-woxy doing real harm. The iconic story was published in English Fairy Tales, retold by Flora Annie Steel (1922), illustrated by Arthur Rackham.
An illustration for the story Henny-Penny: The Sky is Falling! by the author

One day Henny-penny was picking up corn in the rickyard when—whack!—an acorn hit her upon the head. “Goodness gracious me!” said Henny-penny, “the sky’s a-going to fall; I must go and tell the King.”

So she went along, and she went along, and she went along, till she met Cocky-locky. “Where are you going, Henny-penny?” says Cocky-locky. “Oh! I’m going to tell the King the sky’s a-falling,” says Henny-penny. “May I come with you?” says Cocky-locky. “Certainly,” says Henny-penny. So Henny-penny and Cocky-locky went to tell the King the sky was falling.

They went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they met Ducky-daddles. “Where are you going to, Henny-penny and Cocky-locky?” says Ducky-daddles. “Oh! we’re going to tell the King the sky’s a-falling,” said Henny-penny and Cocky-locky. “May I come with you?” says Ducky-daddles. “Certainly,” said Henny-penny and Cocky-locky. So Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, and Ducky-daddles went to tell the King the sky was a-falling.

So they went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they met Goosey-poosey. “Where are you going to, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, and Ducky-daddles?” said Goosey-poosey. “Oh! we’re going to tell the King the sky’s a-falling,” said Henny-penny and Cocky-locky and Ducky-daddles. “May I come with you?” said Goosey-poosey. “Certainly,” said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, and Ducky-daddles. So Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Goosey-poosey went to tell the King the sky was a-falling.

So they went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they met Turkey-lurkey. “Where are you going, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Goosey-poosey?” says Turkey-lurkey. “Oh! we’re going to tell the King the sky’s a-falling,” said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Goosey-poosey. “May I come with you, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Goosey-poosey?” said Turkey-lurkey. “Oh, certainly, Turkey-lurkey,” said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, and Goosey-poosey. So Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey all went to tell the King the sky was a-falling.

Henny-Penny: The Sky is Falling groupSo they went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they met Foxy-woxy, and Foxy-woxy said to Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey, “Where are you going, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey?” And Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey said to Foxy-woxy, “We’re going to tell the King the sky’s a-falling.” “Oh! but this is not the way to the King, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey,” says Foxy-woxy; “I know the proper way; shall I show it you?” “Oh, certainly, Foxy-woxy,” said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey. So Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, Turkey-lurkey, and Foxy-woxy all went to tell the King the sky was a-falling. So they went along, and they went along, and they went along, till they came to a narrow and dark hole. Now this was the door of Foxy-woxy’s burrow. But Foxy-woxy said to Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddies, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey, “This is the short cut to the King’s palace: you’ll soon get there if you follow me. I will go first and you come after, Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey.” “Why, of course, certainly, without doubt, why not?” said Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey.

So Foxy-woxy went into his burrow, and he didn’t go very far but turned round to wait for Henny-penny, Cocky-locky, Ducky-daddles, Goosey-poosey, and Turkey-lurkey. Now Turkey-lurkey was the first to go through the dark hole into the burrow. He hadn’t got far when—

Foxy-woxy snapped off Turkey-lurkey’s head and threw his body over his left shoulder. Then Goosey-poosey went in, and—

Henny-Penny: The Sky is Falling fowlOff went her head and Goosey-poosey was thrown beside Turkey-lurkey. Then Ducky-daddles waddled down, and—

Foxy-woxy had snapped off Ducky-daddles’ head and Ducky-daddles was thrown alongside Turkey-lurkey and Goosey-poosey. Then Cocky-locky strutted down into the burrow, and he hadn’t gone far when—

But Cocky-locky will always crow whether you want him to do so or not, and so he had just time for one “Cock-a-doo-dle d—” before he went to join Turkey-lurkey, Goosey-poosey, and Ducky-daddles over Foxy-woxy’s shoulders.

Now when Henny-penny, who had just got into the dark burrow, heard Cocky-locky crow, she said to herself:

“My goodness! it must be dawn. Time for me to lay my egg.”

So she turned round and bustled off to her nest; so she escaped, but she never told the King the sky was falling!

    3. On a related, but more serious note:
“”Something else is going on here. This is not about science and it’s not even about COVID. When [authorities] use the word ‘safe’ — if you listen to the word ‘safe’, that’s about controlling you.”

      The whole jnterview:

  10. And in the sci fi realm (which with current events actually qualifies as more low fi) if there is no vaccine, and no treatment in terms of drug therapy while concurrently developing a clmate of “antibody passport” vetting…

Watch the market develop for helping people develop antibodies…

Something like a clinic where people are knowingly infected and proceed with nutritional and herbal treatments on the front half of germination before too much fibrosis develops in the lungs.

    It could totally happen.

  11. In other words, we’re going to see totalitarian government, which is that the Left has been pushing for since the 1930s. The Republican Party is their only obstacle.

  12. Gattaca.

Geez. They’re talking about antibody passports and they don’t even know the scope of actual infection and the real CFR. What if the actual death rate is closer to .1 or less? Are we going to have antibody passports for seasonal flu?

        1. From NPR, March 20, 2020:

Initial data show that the coronavirus is deadlier. In the U.S., seasonal flu kills 1 in a thousand people (0.1%) who get sick from it — the death toll last season was more than 34,000. Worldwide, an estimated 300,000 to 650,000 people die from flu each year.

By contrast, COVID-19 is currently estimated to kill at least 10 people per thousand infected (1%). “It’s about 10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease, in congressional testimony on March 11.

  14. For all you frequent fliers & others who like scientific experiments:

Quest Diagnostics announced Tuesday that individuals can now skip a doctor’s visit and order a coronavirus antibody test online in a push to broaden Covid-19 screening.

It doesn’t guarantee immunity, but physicians say a positive antibody test indicates that a patient may have some level of protection against reinfection. The test costs $119, according to Quest’s website.
