As Madness Reigns in Russia, a Voice of Wisdom From Kenya

Russia is now unleashing its massive military assault on Ukraine and shattering every international norm in the process. Putin himself has shocked the world with his authoritarian actions and rhetoric. We are watching the blind rage of megalomania played out on a world stage. The only voice that seems to resonate in this madness is that of Putin himself. There has, however, been one voice that seemed to embody the best of our international and law values. It is the voice of Kenyan U.N. Ambassador Martin Kimani. While many of you have likely heard parts of his incredible address, I thought that this would be an important time to hear his remarks, which include criticism of all of the world powers.

Here are his remarks on the violent thrashing of “dead empires.”

Notably, Kimani has a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire (1996). He also a master’s degree (2003) and a PhD (2013) from King’s College and the University of London.

  1. “Make The World Safe For Democracy!”
    –Woodrow Wilson. For WWI

He was a dumb schmuck. Vietnam was dumb. Korea was dumb. Afghanistan was dumb.

Maybe go to war with Putin if he goes beyond Afghanistan.
But if we do then build a nuclear bomb shelter in your back yard.

But today cut off any trade with Russia. If Putin uses China as a front for Russian oligarchs then put China on the shit list.
Biden: We need “Made In America.”

  2. Listening to and seeing Ambassador Martin Kimani reminded me of the Peace Corps days, long ago. Back then, undoubtedly, the volunteers who most loved the countries to which they were assigned were those who ended up in Africa. In the Philippines, as with so many other “developing” countries, white people were held up as special just because of the light color of our skin. Where I was, the fair-skinned Spanish friars had ingrained that in the local population. Not so much in Africa. It was not the hatred that so many of the very vocal blacks in this country spew toward whites; instead, it was a mix of humor and pity. One volunteer told me that it was not unusual for Africans to examine his skin and ask him if the was sick because he was so pale. Those volunteers made many close, life-long African friends. The ambassador exemplifies that inner dignity that I was told so many Africans seemed to project.

    1. I find it a pity that race relations weren’t that bad until Obama, Hillary, Dims/Rinos decided to refuel US Race Wars.

So now we have a few BLM + their funders burning, raping, looting, robbing, murdering making all here in the US blacks look bad.

  3. Scissors beat paper. Bombs beat sanctions.
The West is being led by idiots.
Who will do something about invasion, instead of just standing there and marveling at it?
Stopping it IS an option, do they know that?

  4. The peace keepers were invited by breakaway regions in Serbia, South Africa, Libya, China… However, unlike those aforementioned, the regions in Ukraine were actual targets of antifa (i.e. fascist), BLM (diversity-oriented), and democrat factions in Kiev following the violent Western-backed coup that overthrew an EU-affirmed democratic election in Ukraine. Thanks Obama, McCain et al.

  5. “Rather than form nations that looked ever backwards into history with a dangerous nostalgia, we chose to look forward to a greatness none of our nations and peoples had ever known. We chose to follow the rules of the OAU and the United Nations Charter not because our borders satisfied us but because we wanted something greater forged in peace.“ Excellent.

  6. Hey, former President Bush, how is Pooty Poot’s soul looking now? Black as Hell?

  7. The US allowed 2 million illegal immigrants to cross its borders in 2021 and most of the establishment did not care because the Democratic party believes this will lead to a permanent electoral majority and the Republican corporate establishment likes cheap labor. Yet America is up in arms for a country most know little about or could even find on a map.

American cities burned to the tune of $2 billion in damages paid by insurance companies but the left said they were “mostly peaceful” and justifiable.

I am going to say it “UKRAINE IS NONE OF AMERICA’S BUSINESS”.

Say that to your average “liberal” or “conservative” and they have absolutely no concept or understanding of the situation on the ground. Both share a profound ignorance of other cultures, languages and history but have a burning desire to tell others how to live and run their societies. Sorry to say but western “democracy” is not for export. Not even sure it is a “model” for the rest of the world.

All the West had to do was assure Russia that Ukraine would never be in NATO.

  8. Russia’s definitions of things should be ignored, just like German and Japanese laws were ignored. We should operate on our own defintions of what things are.

  9. Turley, I applaud your posting of the insightful speech of the Kenyan representative. It is indeed on the money as the U.S. invasion of Iraq clearly violated principles of the U.N. as well. Not as much as the Russians have with their blatant power grab here, but in the same neighborhood.

Thing is, at the moment we’re so far past the use of both sidism as a rhetorical tool to deflect attention away from the fact that You’re currently working for a dedicated spreader of Russian disinformation. Now’s the time to stop. Yes, you’ve developed a base of gullible followers— but It’s no longer entertaining how far you can lead them away from accurate reality….

I hope people close to you are able to intervene and be successful at distancing yourself from this cruel game. Yes, cruel. I said it. It’s been interesting to wonder whether you’re truly malevolent or whether you’re just burned out from the repetitive act of selling out that’s been required of you to deeply instill yourself within Republican orthodoxy — but we’re beyond that now. The world class hypocrisy you exhibit in standing up for speech that is bad faith in nature while you rail on against long held grudges and censor characters like me by making me type stuff from my phone because you’ve blocked my laptop is no longer a game…

You’re actively carrying the water of a disinformation effort of a state actor behaving as the Nazis did. You’ve inhabited that side of things. Yes, you can point to trump…, but he’s always been overtly controlled by Putin. We had an active Russian sleeper agent as president of the U.S. and you were tasked with bringing his wilder pronouncements in for whatever kind of smooth landing you could muster. Now is the time to stop.

    1. I’m sorry but you sound totally irrational and spurred on by emotions rather than a true understanding of both history and the nature of man. As succinctly as I can put it – “Get a grip”. Stop playing Pollyanna and break into the realities of mankind.

    2. Let me guess; the only reason Putin chose Obama’s presidency to annex Crimea, skipped doing anything during Trump’s presidency and has now invaded Ukraine during Biden’s presidency, is because Putin had Trump in his hip pocket? That’s some real Jedi-mind-trick level thinking.

      1. Ahhh, the honors students arrive. You don’t see it do you? Putin gets militarily aggressive in the face of resistance and the strengthening of NATO. He takes what he wants from a sleeper agent who is willing to extort the Ukrainians just as predictably. But You’re not super quick on the draw so there’s that.

        Eb

        1. Putin gets militarily aggressive in the face of resistance and the strengthening of NATO.

Aha! The anti-Art of War approach. So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak. Sun Tsu

  10. IT IS NOT ABOUT TO, IT IS CURRENTLY GOING DOWN, NOT LIKE WE SAID IT WOULD, IT IS GOING DOWN AS BIBLE PROPHECY INFORMED US THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO. MANKIND HAS NOW BE MADE A GENUINE FOOL, THINKING WE CAN CREATE ANYTHING WE PLEASE AND DO WHATEVER WE WANT, AND STILL LIKE THEY SAY GET AWAY WITH IT, EVEN MEANING MURDER AND DESTRUCTION. WE HAVE DESTROYED EVERY PRECIOUS ETERNAL GIFT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN BY YAHVEH (GOD), EVEN WE HAVE TRIED WITHOUT SUCCESS TO MURDER HIS ONE AND ONLY BEGOTTEN SON YESHUAH HA MASHAICH (JESUS CHRIST). IF THOSE WHO HAVE TO MURDER OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR WITHOUT SUCCESS, WHAT MAKES US THINK WE SHALL HAVE SUCCESS WITH ANYTHING ELSE. MANKIND IS FAILING AND I AM GLAD, FOR WHO WANTS TO LIVE IN A WORLD OF NOTHING BUT EVIL, AND JUST TO CONTINUE FOR ONE’S OWN PLEASURE. JESUS CHRIST IS GOING TO RETURN, AND HELP US CREATE AN ETERNAL LIFE THAT WE SHOULD HAVE HAD ALL ALONG. NOW THAT IS SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO, INSTEAD OF ANOTHER BILL OR WHATEVER DOCUMENT PASSED BY GOVERNMENT, THAT EVENTUALLY SHALL BE OF NO GOOD. STOP WITH THE GOVERNMENT AND FLAG WAVING AND PROCEED WITH A NATURAL ETERNAL LIFE. GO FOR IT SOULS, AS IT IS THE ONE AND ONLY ROAD TO TRAVEL.

  11. The UN is a toothless tiger. Any permanent member of the Security Council can operate with impunity. Why are we even bothering with it?

  12. My defense of Ukraine is Voltarian. If you can defend the free speech of someone against someone else who is no immediate threat to you or your own free speech (but could be later), then, as a matter of principle, you should take a stand for Ukraine’s sovereignty.

  13. By defending Ukraine now, we won’t have to liberate it later. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Wars of prevention do save lives, paradoxically. Just like the bombing of Hiroshima did.

  14. Well….our “Hate the USA” chorus is alive and well this morning!

I suppose few if any of you have ever set foot in Africa…ever or the Middle East.

The Ambassador tells it like it is….not how ya’ll think it to be.

Europeans drew up the maps and used such things as Rivers to create nations and divide peoples…..people of the same Tribe or Ethnic groups….even families….who lived on both sides of the water but found themselves in foreign dictated “nations”.

Then in the Middle East….it happened again…..and we see how that turned out.

Ignorance can be cured folks….read History before you talk stupid in public.

You should look for causes….not symptoms when trying to cure problems.

  15. I agree with his sentiments, but he is not offering wisdom, he is offering platitudes and ignoring events in Biafra, Cote d’Ivoire, Rwanda, Sudan, Chad, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Africa, and other areas of Africa, as well as NATO’s unprovoked attack on Libya, which only occurred because NATO lied to Russia to get its assent in the Security Council. As for madness, perhaps, but this could also be seen as a predictable response from a cornered bear who sees nuclear weaponsi in Ukraine as an “existential” threat to his den.
For anyone interested in an informed, non-partisan, hard-nosed analysis, I recommend Prof. Richard Sakwa (Kent University).

  16. Maybe Putin is reminding the world the Cold War never ended and the U.S. should mind it’s own borders before entering conflicts of other’s?

    1. What makes you think they weren’t in on it together? Same party same belief. One uses Cycle of Violence The other the Cycle of Economic Repression both tools of the socialist far left and both (see Urban Guerrilla Carlos Marighella) the Uruguayan revolution etc etc etc Then count up the number of suckers they entice into believing there is a democracy and democracy is the same as socialism.

  17. Putin is being inconsiderate to the world as he is ignoring Russia’s carbon footprint in this invasion. China may be encouraged to end their committed efforts to go green and invade Taiwan. The only sane solution is for Klaus Schwab and the strategic partners of the World Economic Forum to downgrade Russia’s financial credit score. Perhaps we could be hit with another pandemic, which would force Russia to social distance from Ukraine. sarc/off.

    1. Yes Olly, good post.

Interesting stuff, we can now see were Biden handlers killed our energy biz & has been buying off all our less the friendly nations.

Gee all those billions of $$$$ it’s not hard to see all those involved paying to Rig the Vote 2020, setting up for other Rigs all this year with the help of old Media & old tech.

  18. Yet there was nothing diplomatic about the US CIA covert ops to influence elections in Ukraine at the behest of the E.U. Ponzi scheme, which seeks to suck Ukraine dry of all resources and commodities.
That’s at least as invasive and offensive as shots fired, if not more so.
