Hunter Biden’s Ex-Partner Sentenced to Federal Prison for Fraud

Fox/Tucker Carlson Tonight

For those of us who have covered the Hunter Biden scandal for years, one of the most prominent figures in his alleged influence peddling efforts is Devon Archer, his close friend and partner. Archer was sentenced yesterday by federal District Judge Ronnie Abrams to a year in jail. Archer is shown (far left) in this 2014 picture with Joe Biden and Hunter Biden.

Archer was convicted of defrauding the Wakpamni Lake Community Corporation of the Oglala Sioux Tribe in the handling of a $60 million bond offering. Hunter Biden was not implicated in those dealings.

Abrams was previously reversed after she set aside his 2018 jury conviction. In United States v. Archer, the Second Circuit found that Abrams abused her discretion in tossing out the verdict.

Abrams actually gave a lighter sentence than the 30 months requested by prosecutors, citing the pandemic conditions in prison as “extraordinarily difficult.”  The lower sentence may have practically undermined any interest of federal prosecutors to reach a cooperation deal with Abrams in their ongoing investigation of Hunter Biden.

Archer was involved with Hunter as a board member on Burisma Holdings, an Ukraine-based energy company. He was also featured in the controversial picture with now President Joe Biden.

Joe Biden has repeatedly denied knowing anything about his son’s foreign dealings, even though Hunter Biden himself contradicted that account and a key witness Anthony Bobulinski has refuted the denial.

After the photo above was posted on the Burisma website, Demetra Lambros, the VP’s Chief Counsel, later called for the photo to be removed.

One of the most extraordinary exchanges found in Hunter’s text messages reportedly dealt with Archer complaining that he was arrested by Biden “appointees.” According to press accounts, Hunter Biden responded by assuring him that he was covered and “family”:

“Every great family is persecuted prosecuted in the US — you are part of a great family — not a side show not deserted by them even in your darkest moments. That’s the way Bidens are different and you are a Biden. It’s the price of power.”

That exchange is highly concerning since Hunter knew that he was a potential target of a criminal investigation. He was talking to a potential witness who could be used against him and his family in any investigation of their alleged influence peddling and foreign dealings.

  1. Dems and their media mouthpieces like to keep talking about Trump and the Big Lie. What they will never talk about is the Biden Lie.

The Big Lie about Joe Biden is that he is a “nice guy.” No, he is the ‘Big Guy.’ Head of the Biden Crime Family.

He’s been shamelessly selling his public office for family profit for 50 years. And lying about all of it.

Joe Biden is a vicious, backstabbing, corrupt politician….and nasty, divisive, self-serving demagogue.

He sold out his country to Russia, China, and cashed in on Ukraine corruption….and where else?

The ‘good old grandpa Joe’ is an act, a shtick, a *phony* media narrative.

The man is a shameless liar.

He is a racist. His own VP called him out as a racist on the debate stage.

Ask Clarence Thomas who the REAL Joe Biden is. He is NOT an honorable man. THAT is a Big Lie.

Biden is a creepy, child sniffing, corrupt, lying, dumb, nasty politician who has done nothing but hang around Washington DC cashing in on his public ‘service’ ….that has always…. and only…. been in ‘service’ to stuffing his own family’s bank accounts.

Joe Biden knows EXACTLY what his son Hunter’s “business” has been. He is the Big Guy getting his cut. Biden is nothing more than a filthy, corrupt liar.

  2. The incompetent dunderhead, Joke Biden, should have been thrown in prison for his demonstrable corruption.

Now, America anxiously awaits the punch line of the Joke.

  3. @Hunter Again…

Seems one commentard is using multiple single use names….

When you have pay to play schemes…
One hand collects the money, while the other hand does the work.

Hunter has been shown to have taken money, including 10% for the ‘big guy’.

And if the Biden’s last name was Trump… you’d have FBI, and Congress all over them.

  4. Turley,

How soon will it be until one of Your Students sign-up for this War[?].
You know we started this, and the Russians are going to finish it.

  5. If anybody thinks the handling of Ukraine in America has anything to do with anything other than ‘The Big Guy’, then heaven help them. Trump quid pro quo? Puh-leese.

  6. Turley, Turley, Turley; you don’t even couch your attack against the Biden family as an “alleged Hunter Biden scandal”. I want to see the proof of the facts on which you rely, But, as we all know, there are a substantial number of gullible Trumpsters out there that believe the Big Lie, and who will believe whatever anti-Biden, anti-Democrat lies are put out by your employer. Your role is to use your credentials to breathe credibility into the “scandal” and the BS du jour of Fox. If you can’t produce proof of the alleged “scandal”, consisting of facts, then shut up about it, or at least refer to it as “allegations”. Just how many times have you posted about this alleged “scandal”, anyway? And, BTW, have you ever mentioned that it was disgraced, suspended, former lawyer Giuliani who came up with the “Hunter Biden scandal” as a means to throw Biden off his game in the second debate, after Trump flopped so badly in the first debate?

  7. Of course, Turley takes the Hunter Biden text out of context to make it seem like he was intervening to help Archer, when the full text reveals just the opposite – that the Bidens were staying out of it and Archer was very upset that they were staying out of it when he was being prosecuted:

Hunter: “Every president’s family is held to a higher standard [and] a target. It’s the price of being the most powerful group of people in the world. It’s why our democracy remains viable. It’s unfair at times but in the end the system of justice usually works and like you we are redeemed and the truth prevails. The unfairness to us allows for the greater good.”

He then gave the comment about Archer being part of his family before saying:

“And we aren’t a banana republic buddy. The powerful are targets in this country the more powerful they become. But the truth prevails if you have the stamina and guts and enough love to stay the course.”

If Turley had presented this sort of evidence to a judge in court he would probably be sanctioned for misrepresenting the facts.

  8. Svelaz,

Nothing illegal or criminal? You do at least admit Hunter purchased a firearm while “an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance”? You do agree that doing so was a felony?

    1. Nathan,

“ You do at least admit Hunter purchased a firearm while “an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance”? You do agree that doing so was a felony?”

He did purchase a gun and checked “NO” when the paperwork asked if he was an unlawful user of narcotics when he was diagnosed as a drug addict. Lying on the form is a felony, HOWEVER prosecutions for it are extremely rare thanks to strong 2nd amendment opposing such paperwork

That’s why it’s so easy to purchase a gun despite the paperwork.

  9. We know Hunter Biden does not hold a political office and is not a candidate for one.

And we learn here that Joe Biden once golfed with someone who several years later turned out to be a criminal.

Can we list all the criminals Trump has golfed with? I mean, if that is your standard for corruption.

  10. Gee….a whole year and a day in prison for Fraud…..involving millions of dollars.

Sure a tough prosecution by the DOJ ain’t it……you might think the President had some exposure to this or something.

I am sure glad ol’ Joe the Big Guy never talked to his Son or anyone about “business”….ever.

Of course we are supposed to believe Joe….not believe Hunter….or our eyes while looking at the happy Golfers thinking the Big Guy will golf with anyone without knowing anything about them….right?

Just like we are to believe Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton only talked about Grandkids in their “secret” meeting in Phoenix that evening.

    1. Less time than the trespasser of 1/6/21 got. Just goes to show, if you are a progressive you can loot, steal, kill and get away with a slap on the wrist if you get any punishment at all.

  11. If this was a Trump associate he would have been threatened with 15 years in order to make him roll over. Only partisan hacks, unthinking people that will overlook serious corruption when it is on their side, you know, people like Svelaz, would feel sanguine about this development.

    1. Hullbobby, overlook serious corruption? Trump’s organization has an actual history of serious corruption. All Turley can muster is allegations. Just as Trump is defending himself against. Problem is Trump has more credible allegations against him AND he not helping himself by obstructing and obfuscating endlessly over the allegations. Here Turley is calling these weak allegations against Hunter Biden “serious” because Biden is acting or giving out “fishy” or “telling” denials, just like Trump and family.

Seems by your own definition Turley is being a partisan hack.

      1. Oh please. Can you defend Biden without having to counter with, well Trump did blah blah blah. Not convincing.

        1. Boogheim, sure. Are Hunter Biden’s activities illegal? What laws are being violated?

          1. Hey, Anonymous. I’m the one asking for the defense of Biden, not waiting for your questions. What are your answers to your questions–with facts and references included, of course. I’m always open to good arguments.

  12. He should have gotten the same sentence that they wanted to give Gen. Flynn.

  13. The ‘price of power’ is being convicted of fraud after committing fraud? I hope so.

  14. Once again, we see a gentle justice applied to a connected person.

An ordinary American would have faced many years in prison.

And a Trump associate would have experienced wall-to-wall news coverage instead of the near total ignoring that this case received.

  15. Geez Turley, this nothing burger of a “scandal” you keep bringing up gets more embarrassing. You sound like a desperate tabloid at the checkout lane. Trump is in far more legal trouble than Hunter Biden’s alleged “scandal”.

    1. “But, but….TRUMP!!”

Watching him live in leftist’s brains is both terrifying and amusing. TDS is real-seek help.

    2. Hunter will get a full opportunity to explain his foreign income and the 10% for the Big Guy when Pelosi si turned out after the next election. We all know that the Chinese would only consider crack addicts as managers for their $1.5 Billion investment fund.

  16. Though he’s a blogger and not a judge–to whom this qualification would normally apply–I believeProf. Turley has it backwards. Mr. Archer, given a light sentence, will not be impelled to cooperate with the government to earn a sentence reduction. The sentence is even lighter than it appears: under federal sentencing regulations, Mr. Archer will serve only about 10-1/2 months of the total term. That’s because the judge gave him one year and a day. That extra day is the kicker: had the sentence been a straight one year, Archer would not qualify for the 15% “good time” credit that applies to sentences of more than one year.

    1. Exactly nisquire !! Hunter and Joe will continue their corrupt ways and people like Svelez don’t really care. As long as it isn’t Trump.

      1. Wen Bars,

Nobody really cares because it’s not a scandal. The media with the exception of Fox News knows this. Turley is simply trying to promote these allegations as some sort of ignored “scandal” that is not really a scandal that he portrays it to be.

Nothing Hunter Biden has done is illegal or criminal. What Turley seems to be pushing is more of what Trump wanted with a real scandal, holding military aid in exchange for a favor. Its what got a lot of people in trouble including Michael Flynn.

        1. Svelaz, what about 10% for the big guy? How did Biden amass so much money working in government his entire life with his wife being a teacher?

Anyone that says that Biden isn’t corrupt is in fact corrupt. People like Svelaz will let the nation be ruined by a demented, corrupt, lying moron just because he is a Democrat. It is sick. We had a secure border, low inflation, cheap gas, a stable middle east, a relaxed North Korea, a back on their heels Iran and a complacent Russia and now we have the exact opposite. Personally I also don’t like Trump. I think he is a boor, a juvenile, a narcissist, an uninterested and rude guy, but his damn policies were very good and that is what matters the most.

As far as personalities go when the media says that Biden is a gentleman and a caring guy it is all BS. Biden is a nasty, lying, corrupt fool who has NEVER gotten it right and who never will.

PS. How many members of the media understand that we need energy independence but they will silently sit back as Biden kills our energy industry and buys RUSSIAN OIL? If a Republican were in office we would see vignettes of people not buying food because they need to heat their homes or fill their cars, but since it is a D in the White House we see no such “reporting”. The left wing elite want to run the country on butterfly wings and unicorns and we are paying to kill kids in Ukraine.

          1. Hullbobby,

“ Svelaz, what about 10% for the big guy? How did Biden amass so much money working in government his entire life with his wife being a teacher?”

Is amassing money illegal? Biden’s tax returns, decades of tax returns are freely available online. You can’t say the same of Trump. Cure Biden’s net worth is $9 million. Could he have benefited from being financially responsible? Saving? Retirement funds over 50 years in government? I hear financial gurus telling people all the time they too can be millionaires if they stick to putting away a certain amount every time you get paid and let compounding interest take care of the rest. Could they just be hard working folks? Book deals? Stocks? All perfectly legal.

Trump has far sketchier finances and obviously he’s more of a grifter than a savvy financial individual.

“ People like Svelaz will let the nation be ruined by a demented, corrupt, lying moron just because he is a Democrat.”

            Actually I’m a registered Republican.

“ Personally I also don’t like Trump. I think he is a boor, a juvenile, a narcissist, an uninterested and rude guy, but his damn policies were very good and that is what matters the most.”

He was more than that. He was/is an atrocious businessman. Multiple failing companies and bankruptcies are not exactly glowing endorsements for his “financial genius”.

“ PS. How many members of the media understand that we need energy independence but they will silently sit back as Biden kills our energy industry and buys RUSSIAN OIL?”

Huh? We ARE already energy independent. We buy the majority of our oil from Canada. (52%). Mexico is the next biggest at (9.6%).

We have very healthy natural gas reserves. So much that we export it. Even Canadian oil is being exported to other countries. Plus renewable energy is far outpacing oil and gas in this country. So energy independence is not really an issue.

            1. Svelaz, please tell us some of Biden’s policies that you like. Would it be the open border? The closing of the pipeline on top of federal lands being closed and banks being encouraged to NOT lend to energy companies? The massive spending that helped cause inflation? The support for the RUSSIAN pipeline? The weakness shown in Afghanistan that helped Putin make his decision? The Iran Nuke Deal? The vaccine mandates that had a deleterious effect on the supply chain? Do you like seeing the guy bumble his way through a few questions? Come on DEMOCRAT, what do you like about the guy? Is it his pleasant personality as he says “you aren’t Black if you don’t vote for me” or “Romney will have you all back in chains”? Or was it his lying in Law School, the campaign trail and his entire life? Why support this corrupt, dumb, lying old guy with dementia?

            2. “We ARE already energy independent. We buy the majority of our oil from Canada. (52%). Mexico is the next biggest at (9.6%).”

              Huh?

“Independent” means that a country does *not* have to purchase energy from a foreign country — whether that foreign country is Canada, Mexico, or Russia and Iran (?!).

In November, the U.S. imported about 18 million barrels of oil from Russia. At some $90/barrel — you do the math. (And that’s just one month.)

Then ask yourself: What is Putin currently doing with that money?

The Biden administration has Ukrainian blood on its hands.

        2. You live in a dreamworld. Go back to sleep. Wow, you people are nuts. Open your eyes.
