President Joe Biden held a curious meeting in the Oval Office where he honored Tennessee legislators for “standing up” for democracy by preventing a legislature from continuing its work. He then magnified that mixed message by refusing again to answer questions from the media and dismissing them with a joke.
I have previously written that I did not agree with the vote to expel state Representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson, D-Tenn., though I felt that they warranted some form of sanction for stopping legislative work on the House floor. I simply believe that expulsion should be reserved for the most serious or repeated violations. What they did should have merited other forms of punishment from censure to suspension of legislative privileges.
Yet, President Biden brought them to Washington to celebrate their conduct in taking a bullhorn to a legislative proceeding to prevent others from voting on measures. Because they had insufficient votes to secure gun control, President Biden believes that they were justified in preventing legislative work to be done by the majority.
This is why American politics has become a simple matter of amplification.
The media largely ignored the contradiction of President Biden praising legislators for defending democracy by stopping the legislative process.
Rep. Gloria Johnson was also honored after she claimed that pure racism was the only reason why, as the only white member of the three, she was spared expulsion. That ignored distinctions raised by Johnson and her supporters during the debate that, unlike Jones and Pearson, she did not use a bullhorn; her counsel also insisted that she separated herself from the protesters. Johnson’s distinctions swayed one member to defeat expulsion, but Johnson then declared the result was evidence of sexism and racism: “pretty clear I’m a 60-year-old white woman, and they are two young Black men. I was talked down to as a woman, man-splained to.”
So, on Jan. 6th, if Republican members prevented the proceedings with bullhorns, would Biden have praised their standing up for Democracy? Would they have been justified to “shout down” speakers on the floor as they do on college campuses?
Of course, when Republicans decried a move to adjourn the House, then Speaker Nancy Pelosi simply had the lights turned off and microphones cut off.
She had a right to adjourn the house and she did not tolerate members who were trying to shout down the chair. Democratic members have repeatedly moved to sanction members for violating rules of decorum and conduct on the floor. One Democratic leader even abandoned the chair in disgust over such conduct:
Would those members have become “democracy defenders” if they had bullhorns?
It appears, however, that such disruptions will not occur at the Democratic primary debates: there are currently no scheduled debates. Democratic operatives have objected that the Democratic National Committee has not scheduled or planned for any debate despite two other candidates running in the primary. Nine Turner and others have denounced the position: “It’s simple — I believe in democracy, therefore I believe in debates. The DNC, RNC, and every third party should hold that same belief in a democracy. This isn’t a radical idea.”
Government approved (media) experts & fact checkers label arguments they like to hide as “conspiration theory” or “Russian Disinformation”.
Tucker Carlson’s take on peoples power (4M views at time):

Of course they stopped the legislative process. The Left is a totalitarian movement. It seeks to run your life, through force and mandate. It is in direct opposition to individual rights. The Left seeks to prevent you from buying an incandescent lightbulb, a gas stove, a gas powered vehicle, and from voicing the opinion that sex is biologically binary. A man can perform in a feminine manner, often employing stereotypes, and even go so far as surgical castration, but it is mimicry. A man cannot change his gender. The Left would force you to say that he can, or punish you by impoverishment – fire you, revoke scholarships, reject university applications, boycott your books, etc.
It’s not his first time….didn t he give cover couple years ago to state legislature avoiding a quarum? And now for what? To mutilate kids? I was a tom boy…. But since then I had the absolute fulfillment to nurse 4 kids! Had my “care about me ” people had let me…..become a “boy”or become “gay” …. I would have never enjoyed the purpose of life. And it’s not just mine purpose but my kids too.! Had I been transitioned when I was a tom boy…..I would be unable to have kids now! Yet I’d still have longing to parent. So I could get a surrogate still to give me a child. Yet that child will allows be confused. As a unnatural being itself! Never having any roots….but just made to fulfill my emptiness. Now we expect that pet….to have a consciounce…when it’s parents never did? How will that turn out? It’s probably why lesbians and gays are against trans. They are freaks with no legit business. Not even the gays and lesbians support the trans pervertions! The ridicule (alinsky) madness must stop! Lanes 86 545499a!
Our govt has been hijacked….lajes86 545499a! And they now use ridicule as their most basic level….to destroy us…. Screw them….be an american at the most visceral level! Our kids! They our our prodgeny….and the blessings of liberty can’t come on us if they are all pussies! They are our collective prodgeny…..if it turns out they can’t back it and kill themselves….so ducking be it….no great nation is ever defined by their weakest.! Stop being their pussy….if your kid is gay or metro or trans look in the ducking mirror. It’s because you were not a man! You should kill yourself too with your past kid who won’t be a man! Only then will we have the posterity the constitution was looking for! If you don’t know your sex….duck of you ain’t the posterity the constitution aimed for!
So I ask…can I have the report re Diane lane…Mr Stewart and Mr jordan? Maybe it’s as easy as saying the mou with the locals was….which raised its own questions. That no body believes. Let’s see the investigation from the neighbor county the sheriff promised in the paper! Let’s see it! Did he ever do it? Or did his wardens get away with murder? And then promoted because elmore commissioners were never told the truth…or were they negligent? Too!???? Can some one answer?
Bottom line, Tucker was fired because he was not controllable by the regime. Fox needs to fill the niche of the regime’s controlled opposition, and Tucker was speaking truths that made the regime uncomfortable.
https://mises.org/wire/why-fox-fired-tucker-blackrock-replacement-theory-and-adl
Excerpt: Tucker crossed significant establishment redlines and has finally suffered the consequences. He consistently argued that that the ruling elite hates the majority and consistently attacks it, that national sovereignty is being eroded, and that the electorate is being replaced. The redlines included his criticism of Volodymyr Zelensky and the U.S. involvement in the Ukrainian war, his criticism of the covid responses that destroyed the economy, his questioning of the vaccines, and his targeting by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for various “offenses.”
. . .
Why would BlackRock, headed by CEO Larry Fink, pressure Fox News to axe Tucker? For one, Tucker was known for his scathing criticism of Ukraine’s corruption, which put him at odds with the investment giant. In January, Carlson reacted derisively to a video of Ukrainian President Zelensky thanking BlackRock, J.P. Morgan, and Goldman Sachs for “rebuilding” the country. Tucker referred to Zelensky, not as a hero, as the establishment would have it, but as a dictator. Carlson has also been critical of BlackRock’s push for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing, claiming, rightly, that ESG is a means of circumventing legislation and thus subverting democratic processes. ESG thwarts the will of the people and installs a “climate change” dictatorship in its place.
BlackRock also has enormous holdings in pharmaceuticals companies, as one of the three largest shareholders of Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, and Merck. And Tucker recently interviewed Robert Kennedy, Jr. A presidential candidate, Kennedy has lambasted the covid-19 vaccines as “deadly and worthless.”
I do not care why Tucker was fired.
That matters more with respect to Fox’s future than anything else.
If Tuckers voice resonated – he is uncancellable. Either he will be back in some other venue, or someone else will emerge to take his place.
The laws of supply and demand dictate that where demand exists – supply will be created.
Before I post parts of a cobbled-together essay of an Austrian economics and libertarian nonprofit think tank, I would try to answer these three questions and ask myself: Does this “theory” pass the litmus test?
1. Why did Tucker finished his last show on Fri 4/21/23 with these final words are, “we’ll be back on Monday.”?
2. Why did his team prepare Tucker’s show on Mon 4/24/23 morning, if she was abruptly terminated?
3. Who is in charge of FN?
Or you could read countless pieces offering an obvious explanation such as:
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2023/apr/24/tucker-carlson-leaving-fox-news
“Tucker was fired because he was not controllable by the regime.”
There are two significant policy conflicts between Murdoch and Carlson.
On foreign policy:
Murdoch is a pre-Trump, neocon-type republican. He supported Bush and the Iraq war. He supports politicians such as McConnell, and the US funding of the Ukraine war. Carlson has vehemently criticized the US involvement in both wars, and the neocons.
On domestic policy (and in my view, the death knell for Carlson):
Murdoch detests Trump and wants him gone. (See his recent comments, the WSJ, NYP, and to a lesser degree Fox.) Carlson praised Trump’s position on Ukraine, and gave Trump valuable air time in a recent interview. It is no accident that Carlson was taken off Fox just as the presidential campaign gains steam.
Psychologically, Murdoch craves the attention and approval of the republican establishment. Having Carlson as a host causes that establishment to scorn him.
1. It is refreshing that there are still commentators who perceive Tucker’s dismissal as politically (and not economically) motivated.
2. In the past, TV personalities have repeatedly alienated themselves from their stations in a creeping process and sooner or later separated:
* NPR correspondent Juan Williams who also worked for Fox News, described First Lady Michelle Obama as Stokely Carmichael (a key leader of Black Power movement) in designer dresses, but his remarks about muslims was the final straw that broke the camel’s back.
* Fox News host Glenn Beck had a smooth transition from a daily TV news show to a political movement: He closed the door and opened another on the next day.
* When Harris Faulkner announced that Fox News and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways, it sounded like a propaganda from CCTV.
3. This separation has also become apparent: Tucker has distinguished himself more and more often and more clearly from government approved narratives. Less than 1/2 months ago, he shared his take about media outlets with NELK [1]. He crossed the Rubicon when he undercut J6 story told by the committee and mass media. As a result, Speaker McCarthy need much more time than expected to match transparency & security [2].
4. What is often underestimated: Tucker hits the nerve, especially that of many MAGA grassroots. Or in short: Without a huge audience, he would have been observed much less.
5. The follower are his trump card! They will track him, through which door away from corporate media he will open. As long as he serves them thematically in the usual way.

America is much better off when Joe slurs and mumbles to the point that his message is completely indecipherable.
“Biden Praises Tennessee Legislators For “Standing Up” for Democracy . . . By Stopping the Legislative Process”
– Professor Turley
______________
America was never intended to be a one man, one vote democracy.
Democracy was always of the restricted-vote type since inception in Greece.
America is a restricted-vote republic that has been taken over by communists.
America will never be America with communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats, RINOs, AINOs) in it.
Turnout was 11.6% in 1789, vote criteria were generally male, European, 21, 50 lbs. Sterling or 50 acres, while immigration, per the Naturalization Act of 1790, was restricted to “…free white person(s)….”
America was fundamentally transformed and destroyed by Abraham Lincoln; the lunatics were allowed to take over the asylum.
Lincoln did it to destroy freedom and free enterprise under the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Lincoln did it to acquire the power of a despot and to absurdly impose the “dictatorship of the proletariat.”
Lincoln didn’t do it for slavery.
Lincoln did it for Karl Marx, for the Communist Manifesto, for the dictatorship of the proletariat, and to commence the incremental implementation of the principles of communism in America.
The singular American failure has been and remains the judicial branch, with emphasis on the Supreme Court, which has failed to fulfill its sworn-oath duty to support the Constitution – secession always was and always will be fully constitutional – Lincoln must have been nipped in the bud in 1861.
The American Founders neither legislated nor conceived of being “…five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America…,” which is mortally antithetical, treasonous and hostile.
Jonathan: Everyone has been speculating where Tucker Carlson might get his first job offer after being kicked down the steps of the Fox HQ. Would it be NewsMax? Or Trump’s Truth Social? It turns out Carlson’s first offer came from Russia. That’s right. Only hours after he was fired, RT, the Russian state-run news channel, sent the following Tweet to Tucker: “Hey @ TuckerCarlson, you can always question more with @RT—com”. It’s a perfect fit for Carlson who has long taken Russia’s side in the Ukraine war. He has criticized Wester allies for supporting Kyiv. “Do svidaniya” Tucker!
Oh Denise,
Hunter is going to go to CNN.
They need him to help turn things around.
So please get your act together.
-G
Dennis – of course there ws no job offer. Further, I thiink you miss the irony: RT is saying that it is more open to different points of view than our MSM. Finally, you say that Carlson “took Russia’s side in the war”. When did Carlson ever say that Russia had the right to invade Ukraine in 2014 or 2022? His criticism of the Biden adminstration centers on: the unacknowleged risk of our seemingly-open-ended intervention; our reckless actions such as the destruction of the Russian pipeline under the Baltic Sea; our reckless statements such as calling for regime change in Russia; the preceding history of our interference in the governance of a country on the doorstep of Russia (including by encouraging the ouster of a pro-Russian President and by getting one of its public prosecutors fired); and building bio-weapons labs on Ukrainian soil. Judged objectively, It seems we are going out of way to provoke Russia. It is a nuclear power. When the Soviet Union interfered in Cuba in the early ’60s, we reacted with a naval embargo. threatening nuclear war. Our policy should be to bring about a diplomatic end to the fighting asap, before a world war overtakes us. Everyone shouid be saying this; but Carlson was almost unique in the MSM in sending this message of sanity.
Hunter Biden’s attorney is put on the spot by Independence County, Arkansas, Circuit Judge Holly Meyer.
A hardened, unrepentant, addict with a long history of relapses, actively using or not actively using crack, will undergo a brutal trial in a small county court. This will be a train wreck of epic proportions because addicts have stunted emotional development and they lie. Addicts always lie until they accept the first step of the Twelve Steps of AA/NA: 1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol / drugs — that our lives had become unmanageable…
Hunter is no where near the first step.
Judge orders Hunter Biden to appear in Arkansas paternity court hearings
https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2023/apr/24/judge-orders-hunter-biden-to-appear-in-arkansas-paternity-court-hearings/
Meyer expressed frustration during a Zoom hearing Monday with attorneys for Biden and Lunden Roberts.
“From now on … I want both of your clients at every hearing I conduct,” Meyer said. “I will no longer allow us to excuse clients … because it is interfering with the progress of litigation, which is taking way too long to get over simple points.”
Meyer made the comments after Brent Langdon, who represents Biden in the paternity case, mentioned a laptop computer that Biden reportedly left at a repair shop.
Langdon said Garrett Ziegler, a potential expert witness in the case, professes to be an expert on the contents of the laptop, which reportedly contains some income-tax records.
“There has never been, to my knowledge, an acknowledgment that this so-called laptop — he continuously calls it Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop …” Langdon began.
“Well, let’s clear that issue up right now,” said Meyer. “Is it your client’s laptop or not?”
“Your honor, I’m not involved in all of that stuff,” said Langdon. “It’s not my client’s laptop as far as I know.”
Meyer said she holds clients to what their attorneys say in court.
“Is it your client’s position, you’re representing to this court, that it is not his laptop?” the judge asked.
“Your honor, I am not in a position to even begin to answer that question,” Langdon said.
Meyer denied to issue a restraining order requested by Langdon.
Meyer scheduled an in-person hearing for 9 a.m. May 1 at the Independence County courthouse in Batesville.
….Meyer has scheduled a bench trial for July 24-25 in Batesville.
Watch the Left Wing feverishly change the subject. This whole thing is a complete disgrace for the United States with a President who has dementia.
Estovir: I’m sorry–what office is Hunter Biden running for? Remind me. Also, why haven’t the Republicans come up with anything in the form of criminal charges in 4 years’ time? And what does the laptop have to to with a paternity suit anyway? What is some hillbilly judge in Arkansas doing grilling Hunter’s attorney about a laptop in a civil suit for paternity? She has already given Hunter has reversible error just with the citation to the testimony here.
No matter how many times you members of Cult 45 accuse Biden of having “dementia”, he still accomplished more in 2 years’ time than your hero did in 4 years, whose only legislative accomplishment in 4 years’s time was a tax break that mostly benefitted the very wealthy and drove our national debt to a record level. Biden turned around the worst recession since the Great Depression, got COVID under control, passed a historic infrastructure act that will create thousands of good-paying jobs, set a record for reducing unemployment, got the CHIPS Act passed, Veterans’ relief, COVID Relief Act, mended the rifts with our allies caused by Trump, and has gotten America back to work and school. So, the best you can do is attack Hunter Biden and falsely accuse Joe Biden of dementia?
The more you Trumpsters attack Biden over his son’s problems and ignore the actual crimes we’ve all seen committed by your hero, the more you lose credibility.
Estovir,
The issue is that his lawyer is claiming he doesn’t have the tax documents that show what he claimed to have earned.
Note that he also had to settle a fine for not paying his taxes.
So things are going to get to be interesting.
After considering several jurisdictional venues.
The Attorneys for both parties final agreed that Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas would be unobjectionable.
Arkansas is also the State that William J. Clinton who served as the 42nd President of the United States (1993-2001) and the former 50th Attorney General of Arkansas (January 3, 1977 – January 9, 1979) is from.

Jonathan: You often mock Pres. Biden. This time because he honored the “Tennessee Three” who stood up to the white racists in the Tennessee legislature who refuse to deal with continuing mass gun violence. Kind of petty I think. Had Trump “honored” the Jan.6 insurrectionists by inviting them to the Oval Office I suspect you would have said nothing by way of criticism.
Rep. Justin Jones, one of the three who was expelled but later reinstated by his constituents, remarked about seeing statues of MLK, Rosas Parks and Cesar Chavez during his visit to the Oval Office. Jones said those three “acted outside of the paradigm of what was possible, and then changed political realities…sometimes we have to do something out of the ordinary”. Rosa Parks did something “out of the ordinary” in 1955 when she defied Montgomery’s racist segregation laws and ignited the civil rights movement. Had Parks just moved when asked to give up her seat to a white person perhaps segregation would have persisted for many years. Parks was “standing up” for democracy just as the “Tennessee Three” were when they stopped legislative proceedings with their brief protest.
Now you complain the protest was to “prevent others from voting on measures” and “protesting legislative work to be done by the majority”. And what was the important “legislative work” the white majority GOP legislature was discussing? In the weeks before the Nashville school massacre they were consumed with limiting abortion access and preventing drag shows. That was the important legislative business that took priority over addressing gun violence!
What is even more bizarre is that you claim no racism was involved in the expulsions. You say Rep. Gloria Johnson was not expelled because she “did not use a bull horn”. That’s irrelevant. Johnson stood in solidarity with her Black colleagues and was very much part of the protest. Racism was the reason only the 2 Black legislators were expelled. Perhaps, had the white majority of the Tennessee focused on gun violence instead of wasting time on abortion and drag shows the “Tennessee Three” protest might never have occurred. But you seem to prefer the tyranny of the white racist majority in the Tennessee legislature. True colors?
Today Harry Belafonte died at 86. He marched with MLK and went to jail to protest racial segregation. He was also one of those was “standing up” for democracy and equal rights. Had he not been precluded by illness I’m sure Belafonte would have stood in solidarity with the “Tennessee Three”.
BBC article on MLK
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41871956
antonio: Yeah, I have seen a lot of hit pieces on MLK over the years. J. Edgar Hoover was obsessed with MLK and tried to prove the civil rights leader was a “Communist”. Why? Because Hoover was a racist who saw MLK as a threat to the white established order. But Hoover was never able to prove MLK was an agent of the Soviet Union.
But popular leaders are often “saints and sinners”. Hoover knew this. He kept extensive files. He used FBI agents to gather salacious information on the sex lives of politicians as an insurance policy. Any Senator or other government official who might challenge Hoover’s authority was aware of those “secret” files. So Hoover was able to hide his own homosexuality and rather flamboyant personal life style from public exposure.
When Hoover failed to establish MLK was a “Communist” he turned to the sex life of the civil rights leader. He had his FBI gum shoes trail MLK 24/7. Hoover demanded to know everything about MLK’s sex life. While I think a lot of the detailed FBI surveillance field reports were invented to please the “boss” there is some evidence that MLK had a mistress–but no evidence he participated in the rape of anyone. It should be remembered this was a time when many Americans, including Hoover’s FBI, still viewed “unnatural acts” (like oral sex) as a sign of degeneracy or depravity. A strange position for Hoover to take considering his own homosexuality. But that’s a subject for another discussion. MLK was not assassinated because he had extra-marital affairs but because his leadership of the civil rights movement was a threat to white rule.
Every political leader is flawed in some way. JFK and Bill Clinton were both womanizers. But they engaged in consensual sex and their legacies are not judged by how often they cheated on their wives. Which brings us to the MAGA leader Donald Trump. The Trumpster’s womanizing is well documented. Assuming there is no settlement and the jury finds Trump guilty of sexual assault of E.J. Carroll what will you say then? Judging from the polls the vast majority of MAGA supporters say they will still vote for Trump anyway if he is the GOP nominee next year. Are you one of those? If you are, please explain how you can apply one standard to MLK and another to the guy who bragged about being able to “grab them by the p—-!”.
E.J. Carroll is a loon.
The case is not about whether Trump sexually assaulted her – it is about whether he defamed her.
It is a civil case not a criminal case.
In a sane world it never would have come to trial.
The case is lawfare of the worst kind.
Carroll can not establish that she and Trump ever met, much less that he had sex – consensual or not in the Bergdorf dressing rooms.
Further as a rule – protesting your innocence is not defamation – even if you are actually guilty.
But the case is being tried in another of the People’s republic’s so it may have to go to an appeals court to be decided correctly.
Trump has faced several similar allegations – and all have been thrown out before.
This particular case is unique in that it is the first case that has been allowed to go to trial where the plaintiff can not even place Trump in the same place and time as Carroll. That is supposed to be a basis for dismissal.
Tara Reade has a stronger case against Biden – Both were in the senate together at the same time.
Yet, Reade (properly) can not get into court.
All the Carroll case demonstrates is that the left does not give a schiff about the rule of law.
The objective of the left is to get those they hate before juries of people who hate them, with judges who hate them to make decisions driven by that hated – rather than the facts and law.
Further – even if they lose – the process itself is punishing.
At the very least others are intimidated into not standing up to the left and making themselves a target.
John Say: This is a case about both an alleged sexual assault and defamation. Carroll has to prove the former before getting to the defamation part. Now, If E. Jean Carroll is a “loon” why did Trump try so hard to get the trial postponed, filed so many frivolous motions and then, at the last moment, hired a more experienced trial attorney from Kansas City MO to join the defense team? And despite Judge Kaplan’s warnings to his attorneys about “not inciting violence”, Trump just attacked E. Jean Carroll again in the middle of the trial–this on his third rate social media platform: “The E. Jean Carroll case, Ms. Bergdorf Goodman, is a made up SCAM. Her lawyer is a political operative…She [Carroll] said there was a dress, using the ol’ Monica Lewinsky ‘stuff’,…This is a fraudulent & false story…Witch Hunt!”. Classic Trump. He is trying to poison the well of public opinion and trying to intimidate and infect the jury. While you may not be worried about this case–Trump definitely is worried.
You have to ask yourself this Q. If what happened inside the dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman was entirely “consensual” or it never happened why is Trump not there in the courtroom every day? I know I would be if I were innocent. Wouldn’t you? I would be eager to testify and tell the truth. The problem for Trump is he can never tell the TRUTH. It’s not part of his DNA. Trump claims he never met Carrol and she’s “not my type”. But there are photos of Trump and Carroll in social settings–all smiles. If Trump were to testify he would be confronted with that first LIE. That’s why I suspect Trump will not testify. He will wait for the jury verdict and if found guilty he will appeal and appeal and…appeal.–hoping a final resolution will come after next year’s presidential election.
You and the other defenders of Trump on this blog are facing a big problem. What happens when AG Fanni Willis in Fulton County drops the big one (Trump is facing a lot of big ones!) –sometime in July or August? Will you say that criminal prosecution is also driven by “hatred” of Trump by “the left”? Try to pull that one off. It seems you will have a lot more rationalizing to do later this year. I don’t envy you–but good luck anyway!
“This is a case about both an alleged sexual assault and defamation.”
That allegedly happened 26 years ago, occured in a public store, but there were no witnesses, no one can place Trump anywhere near this at the time. Carroll never reported. Further there are NO credible reports of Trump ever doing anything similar. There are claims that you can make regard Trump including crass sexual conduct claims that fit with his record of past behavior. This is not one of those.
Is it possible that Carroll is telling the Truth – sure. It is even more likely that Tara Reade is telling the truth.
But neither case meets the legal requirements to get into a court room – Unless the alleged perpitrator is Trump and the court is in NY.
All you are doing is proving the double standard of the left.
“Carroll has to prove the former before getting to the defamation part. ”
Actually she was supposed to have to be able to provide evidence beyond her own word to get into court – and she did not.
Court Failure #1.
“If E. Jean Carroll is a “loon””
There is no “if” she has a track record of lunacy before this allegation. She went public with this some time ago and came off as a nut job on Freindly left media.
Carroll IS a loon. Established. Ordinarily wise Lawyers and Judges would not allow her to further embarrass herself in court.
But the visceral need of those on the left to “get Trump” is so great they will use any tactic.
“why did Trump try so hard to get the trial postponed, filed so many frivolous motions and then, at the last moment, hired a more experienced trial attorney from Kansas City MO to join the defense team?:”
Are you actually making this stupid argument ? What you think because someone did not commit a crime – they should walk into court unprepared ?
They should NOT do everything possible to avoid a trial ? Trump has faced allegations such as this before. As do many high profile people.
MOre since he became president. People have made absolutely bizzare claims about him – only to have them dismmissed when there own claims about events are contradicted by proveable facts – Like Trump was not even in the same city at the time of the allegation.
“And despite Judge Kaplan’s warnings to his attorneys about “not inciting violence”,
Kaplan is just another a-hole leftwing nut judge who has no clue what the first amendment means.
Protesting your innocence, Criticizing Bad and politically corrupt Judges is NOT incitement to violence.
Kaplan is just seeking to force Trump to KowTow. Which is highly improper, but Judges do it all the time and get away with it.
Even judges that are not politically corrupt are unbeelviably arrogant and pretend to have far more power than the constitution allows.
Regardless, SCOTUS has been extremely clear on what constitutes incitement to violence or what constitutes a True Threat.
Trump has never done anything close. This is just left wing nut posturing.
I would note by the Same stupid logic Kaplan is using that Carroll would be guilty of incitement to violence just for bringing this case.
If Trump is assassinated, or someone near him is hurt or even killed by some left wing nut that this inspires to go after him – would Carrolls remarks be incitement to violence ?
None of us are responsible for the actions of others regardless if what we might say.
To be guilty of incitement to violence the request for violence must be clear, specific and immediate.
A few years ago SCOTUS tossed a case where a man separated from his wife threatened to kill her and the police officers involved in a post on Facebook.
SCOTUS found the post lacked both specificity and immediacy. And therefore remained protected speech.
If Trump actually said “Someone should kill Carroll” That would be extremely bad, I would say that it should end his political carreer, But nothing Trump has said has ended his correer. And Trump is not alone in that AOC, Swallwell, Schiff, Biden. Harris, …. inumerable politicians – mostly democrats have said incredibly stupid things in the past decade and are still arround.
Regardless, Saying “Someone should kill Carroll” would still be protected speech according to the most recent Scotus decision.
Or more simply – Kaplan – Exactly like Trump is engaged in inflamatory rhetoric. But there is a difference. Trump is the defendant, Kaplan is the judge.
There is no special limit on the first amendment rights of a defendant. Trump did not ask to be in court. He is not the plantiff. He does not surrender any rights by being drug into court by a legitimate case – much less a garbage one. Kaplan however is the judge. He is supposed to know the law – including what constitutes protected speech. Kaplan is also in court by choice – unlike Trump, and he is bound by a code of judicial conduct.
I do not want to go too far in this attack on Kaplan – because his lunatic belef that he can slinence people appearing before him, though false is broadly shared by most judges. Who most of the time get away with it. This case is unique in that it is incredibly high profile, and Trump is running for president and even Kaplan must behave atleast a little.
My primary criticism of Kaplan is this course should not have gone to trial.
You are correct that Carroll must prove her case. But she must actually prove that there is more evidence of her alleged rape than he said she said – just to get into court. And there is not. As such Kaplan FAILED, and the case should have been dismissed.
And if you had a half a brain you would realize that. Should someone you have never met, be able to claim that 26 years ago you raped them and get into court solely on the strength of their word ? We can not run a legal system that way. Absolutely 20+ year old claims can be true. They can also be false.
And we can not have “the rule of law” if anyone can claim anything about anyone else years after the fact and on the strength of their own words only get into court.
This is not about Trump. it is about the rule of law.
But the left is desparate to “Get Trump” by any means possible and will dispose of the rule of law if necescary to do so.
“Trump just attacked E. He is trying to poison the well of public opinion and trying to intimidate and infect the jury.”
Which is also called “Free Speech”. But the BIG DEAL is this case never should have made it to a trial – that is a failure on the part of Kaplan.
I would note that you are litterally trying to argue that the defendant in a court case can not publicly proclaim their innocence.
Do you REALLY beleive something that stupid ?
Absolutely Trump can attack Kaplan – and there is plenty to attack him regarding.
“While you may not be worried about this case–Trump definitely is worried.”
Trump should be worried. As he said – it is a witch trial. And they burn witches.
The left on numerous occasions has proven over and over that they do not care about the facts or the law.
Trump is facing a democrats, the media and the left who will do absolutely anything – no matter how lawless to “Get Trump”
He is in a jurisdiction that is nearly as politically hostile as they come. With a Judge that has already made it clear he does not give a schiff about the rule of law.
From Trump’s perspective there is little chance of winni9ng this case at trial – no matter how bad the case is.
The primary goal of Trump and his attorneys is to win on appeal.
Trump’s rhetoric has among other goals that of provoking Kaplan to take off the mask and expose himself, so that the case can be dismissed.
“You have to ask yourself this Q. If what happened inside the dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman was entirely “consensual” or it never happened why is Trump not there in the courtroom every day? I know I would be if I were innocent. Wouldn’t you? I would be eager to testify and tell the truth. ”
The illogical of those on the left is utterly amazing. If Trump was in court every day for every allegation made against him – he would never be out of court,
Frankly he would likely have to be in two courts at once. Further given that Trump’s claim – and there is no actual evidence to contradict that, is that this event never happened. What exactly is it that he can add to the proceedings ? What “truth” is there for Trump to tell “I was not there, and I have no idea what this looney woman is talking about ?”
“The problem for Trump is he can never tell the TRUTH. It’s not part of his DNA.”
If you say that to yourself often enough you might beleive it.
The only Russian collusion in 2016 – was with the Clinton campaign.
The Bidens are corrupt. Hunter is certainly a petty criminal – significantly worse than Manafort,
The Mueller investigation actually was an unconstitutional witch hunt,
The FISA Warrants were illegally obtained.
Covid almost certainly came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The HB laptop is NOT Russian disinformation,
And on an on and on. The claim Trump can never tell the truth is Roll on the Floor Laughing False.
It is confession by projection. What is it about Trump that YOU or Democrats or the Media have “told the truth” about ?
You are the little boy who cried wolf. Soon enough – the WOLF IS COMING, and you have lied so much, no one will be there to help you.
“Trump claims he never met Carroll and she’s “not my type”. But there are photos of Trump and Carroll in social settings–all smiles”
False. There is an old photo of Carrol that Trump mistook for one of his wives in a depostion – not at all the same thing.
“If Trump were to testify he would be confronted with that first LIE.”
I am sure that the plantiffs attorney would try to do so. While a google search provided no evidence that your Claimed photo exists,
Even if it did that would be meaningless. Trump was a fixture in NYC for decades. I am sure there are 10,000 people who have been photographed with Trump that he has no recollection of having met, and that “met” constitutes little more than being photographed with.
There are likely 10 times that many people who were at events that Trump was also at.
There is too date no evidence that Trump actually knew Carroll, that they “met” each other in any way beyond having at some point in time gone to some event concurrently. In fact it is highly unlikely that Trump and Carroll were NEVER at an event concurrently.
But there is zero evidence Trump had any releationship with Carroll. I have not reviewed her testimony yet, but it is my understanding that she has not testified that there was a relationship.
Carroll – and YOU are expecting the world to beleive in onr of two incredibly improbable things.
That one day 26 years ago, Trump out of the blue went to Bergdorf goodmans, Went back into the womens changing rooms and raped a random stranger.
And that he has never done anything like that before or since.
OR that Trump has been doing this for years and years, and of the possibly Dozens of women he has raped – in many decades only one has come forward.
It is not like Trump is not an easily recognizable public figure and has been since the early 80’s – 40+ years ago.
It is not like Trump is not an easy target – H311 even Daniels extroted money out of him for an incredibly vanilla tame – by HER account laison.
I would note that people do not change there MO. If you beleive Daniels – you can not beleive Carroll. If you beleive Carroll – then Daniels is lying.
The same is true of Biden. We all know that Joe Biden has a thing for sniffing the hair of women and children. He has been doing that for years.
There is less well publicised lost of claims that adult females – the wives of political dependants, Female secret service agents or their wives are not “safe” arround Groping Joe. But to my knowledge the only actual rape claim is Tara Reads – which is Why the Read Claim is not credible. It is highly unlikely that Joe Biden raped one woman once in a Senate Cloak room. Just as it is highly unlikely that Donald Trump raped one woman once in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room.
Trump has denied the liason with Daniels. Todate there is no actual evidence of it. But most of us beleive that happened. It would not be the first time Trump cheated on his wife. It is my understanding that Trump was cheating with on current wives with the next Mrs. Donald Trump throughout his life.
Claim that Trump is a cheater – and Trump can deny all he wants – no one will beleive him.
Claim Biden had his snozolo deep in your wifes hair – and almost everyone will beleive it.
Is it in theory possible that Trump raped Carroll ? I do not know. Most prior cases against Trump have ended when Trump was able to prove beyond any doubt the event could not have occured at the time or place the plantiff claimed. I suspect that like Blaisely Ford, Carroll has not been specific enough to disprove her claim.
Again a failure on the part of the courts. Claims that are not specific enough to have a chance to be disproven, are not specific enough to get into court.
It is also possible that Biden raped Tara Read. As I( understand her claim is more specific regarding date and time.
“That’s why I suspect Trump will not testify.”
The odds of Trump testifying are very near Zero.
There is no reason for him to. There is absolutely nothing that he can testify to.
“He will wait for the jury verdict and if found guilty he will appeal and appeal and…appeal.–hoping a final resolution will come after next year’s presidential election.”
Of course that is likely. Do you honestly think Trump can get a fair Trial ?
The fact this case is in court proves that will not happen.
“You and the other defenders of Trump on this blog are facing a big problem.”
Nope.
“What happens when AG Fanni Willis in Fulton County drops the big one (Trump is facing a lot of big ones!) –sometime in July or August? ”
NOTHING. Everyone already knows all the facts – and this case is worse than the Bragg case.
If Trump was caught on Tape calling Election officials in GA and demanding that they manufacture ballots for him – that would be damning, but it would not be criminal. For speach directing another person to commit a crime to be illegal, you must have power and authority over that person.
If Trump phoned Barr and ordered him to make up false election fraud charges – THAT would be a crime.
But Trump has no power or authority over GA election officials.
If your Willis’s theory was correct – Biden would be guilty of election fraud when his campaign sought to have Social Media tank the Hunter Biden story.
Those int he FBI and other alphabet agencies ARE guilty of a crime – not because they had power and authority over social media – but because government employees are forbidden by law from any political activity, and certainly anything that would influence elections While on the job.
The Acting CIA driector how ginned up the Russian disinformation letter and who sought out the signatories – violated the hatch act.
The FBI/CIA/DHS/… employees who tried to get Social media to censor political speech int he 2020 election – violated the hatch act – they also violated the first amendment, which can also be a crime – a violation of peoples civil rights under color of law.
But ultimately I suspect the Willis case is already DOA. For multiple reasons. GA is not NY, and outside of Fulton County Willis is subject to constraints by both the GA courts – who are NOT going to be as friendly as NY courts – as well as the GA AG and GA legislature. There are calls to Disbarr Bragg over the faux Trump prosecution in NYC – Conspiring to commit a non-crime is not a crime. regardless, there are so many holes in Braggs allegations I doubt that will ever reach trial.
There are a dozen grounds Trump has to get this dismissed – if not by the trial judge, by other courts. At the same time Bragg is NOT going to get disbarred.
He may be an embarrassment – but he is in a state with friendly courts, a freindly legislature, friendly governor, friendly AG, and friendly Barr.
Willis is not. While I doubt there will be disbarrment there – the risk is much higher, and much higher the case will be tossed quickly.
“Will you say that criminal prosecution is also driven by “hatred” of Trump by “the left”? ”
Yes. As I pointed out – even the most egregious possible allegationt hat can be made – something that did not happen – would not be a crime.
Hillary and other democrats lobbied Electors in 2016 to vote differently from what the vote in their state required. Several did. No one was prosecuted – because it is not a crime. Myriads of democrats beleive they won elections they lost by margins far greater than Trump – including multiple times in GA, and have made demands – NOT A CRIME.
“Try to pull that one off. It seems you will have a lot more rationalizing to do later this year.”
No rationalization at all. Just the law as well as pretty simple logic.
The first step would be what Dershowitz calls the “shoe on the other foot test”. Clintons post election conduict in 2016 was repugnant.
It was not criminal
The second step is logic. If you actually make it criminal to agressively challenge election results – you make fraud inevitable.
While SOME of Trump’s 2020 claims have actually been falsified. Most have not. Whether there was fraud or not, the Failure of government – the courts to actually force transparency and subject the election to scrutiny to SERIOUSLY subject the election to sunlight were a huge mistake that has undermined trust in elections.
Even today the majority of people beleive that for one reason or another – whether through ballot harvesting, lawless elections, ballot fraud, or through suppression of the Truth, or surpession of the political opposition – that Biden’s vicotry was of an election rigged in one way or the other.
Contra the left you do not overcome beleifs you do not liek by silencing them, or calling them lies or conspiracy theories – we have seen so many “conspiracy theories” turn to truth. You overcome the claims you beelive to be false with the Truth. With SUNLIGHT.
You want voting machines to be trusted – conduct random audits. GA was going to do that in 2020 – Before Trump’s election challenges – But Raffensberg struck it from the budget – it would have cost about $1m. GA spent much more than that in court costs.
You want mailin ballots to be trusted – no unattended drop boxes. No garbage identify verification.
I can go on and on, but the CORE point is that if you want trust – EARN IT. Conduct elections or whatever else you do such that people can KNOW there was no fraud beyond any doubt at all. Admit mistakes, correct them. And quit lying. The 2020 election was a massive disaster., Worse still 2022 repeated nearly all the problems of 2020. There are numerous red flags for Fraud – those red flags do not prove Fraud, they are just warning lights and they were going off all over the place in 2020 and 2022. All that was necescary to get past them was to not work so agressively to HIDE everything.
You criticise Trump for resisting scrutiny. That is the absolute right of any private citizen. Carroll does not have the RIGHT to bring anyone into court 26 years later.
To get in the front do she must PROVE that this is significantly more than he said she said. She has failed at that.
Individuals have an actual right to privacy.
CONVERSELY government does not. What government does must almost all be done under bright lights.
If you want government trusted – conduct government accordingly.
Do not politicize the courts. As jurists treat all cases – whether Trump or just the kid accused of knocking over the local liquor store with the requirement that the prosecutor or plantif PROVE their case.
Today half the country has no trust of most federal courts and certainly none of DC or NYC courts.
Our courts have EARNED that distrust. Whether you like it or not when half the country thinks that a significant portion of our courts are politically biased – THEY ARE. You have already lost.
As to your claims regarding “trump supporters”.
I am NOT a Trump supporter – I have never voted for Trump. I voted for Garry Johnson in 2016 and Jo Jo Johnson in 2020.
I am libertarian not republican, not conservative.
I have many criticism’s of Trump. But that does not change the fact that while he is at best a C+ president he was still by far the best president in the 21st century.
Biden, Obama and Bush were abysmal.
I would not leave my daughter alone with Trump … or Biden.
But all of that does not change the fact that absent ACTUALLY damning evidence in any of these “get Trump” cases that has not yet been presented – and all these cases leak so badly we ALL already know all the prosecution evidence. You will not persuade me or even half the country.
Trump’s popularity went UP after Braggs indictment. Biden’s went down. Why ? Because people – and not just conservatives do not beleive you and do not beleive the institutions you control. You have LOST their trust.
Trump could lose in court against Carroll, against Bragg, against Willis, and absent some DAMNING evidence that has not been made public all that would accomplish is proving to most americans that our courts are even more corrupt.
You want people to turn on Trump -= Stop the weaponization of government – the legal system against political enemies and start enforcing the rule of law.
Behave such that you can be trusted when you go after political enemies – have the evidence to justify investigation – you know like the damning evidence against the Biden clan that predates the HB laptop. If you go to court – do so with clear crimes that are charged all the time that do not require strained an unusual reading of the law. Quit promising to Get political enemies to win election, and promise to uphold the law. And do so blind of politics.
It appears likely the AG of the United states – a nominee for the supreme court has lied under oath to congress.
Roger Stone was prosecuted for an error in his testimoney that was actually exculpatory. Brennan and clapper lied prodigiously, Rosenstein lied.
It appears Garland lied. Fauxi has lied, it is likely Myorkas has lied.
Investigate these – just as you did Stone. Whent he law is only enforced one way – our system is unarguably corrupt, and you should not be surprised when half the country does not trust it.
Whether you like it or not – Trump’s attacks on the courts and prosecutors and the left for this nonsense – resonate with lots of people – many who are not Trump supporters. You have lost people like Tulsi Gabbard, You are losing Turley. You have lost Dershowitz.
You are not losing because people love Trump. You are losing becuase YOU have lost peoples Trust.
Should as you claim “trump supporters” also known as those who beleive in the rule of law, face lots of bad news in the comming months.
There will be no rationalization. Absent evidence that has not thus far surface from a left that leaks so badly that even blatantly false lies get out and are treated as true. Just as with the collusion delusion, or the election rigging, or the Biden syndicate, As more and more truth slowly gets out – the claims of the left WEAKEN, rather than get stronger. The problem with naratives is that they are not Truth. The truth does eventually out. And so far that has decreased Trust in the left dramatically. Trust in govenrment dramatically,. Trust in our institutions dramatically.
It is not Trump’s remarks that have caused the decline in trust in institutions. It is the conduct of those institutions – the Truth of Trump’s remarks.
The absence of the rule of law.
Many of us were anxious through the collusion dellusion. While the claim was ludicrously stupid. Our institutions had not YET proven themselves tobe untrust worthy. In 2017 and somewhat less in 2018 it was possible to have doubts. To say if so many are alighned against Trump – maybe there is something there.
But over time – right through to the present time and again, it has been the institutions that were wrong, the institutions that were lying.
Trump’s claims – even the more outlandish proved true, while claims against Trump repeatedly proved false.
Ultimately there are only two possibilities – Trump is the greatest criminal mastermind in human history, That he has successfully pulled off myriads of different crimes – without pattern in myriads of different areas, and everytime he has done so flawlessly. Something that no one has ever done anywhere before at any time.
We would have to beleive that every intlligence agency in the world, every news outlet in the world has investigated him thoroughly and not even come close to catching him. That a man with no experience in clandestine affairs, who hired people like manafort, Stone, Carter Page, and Papadoulis manage to conspire with them and pulled off the greatest trade craft ever – with no experience – not his own or any associated with him.
If as you claim Trump is a liar – he is one of the most brilliant that has ever lived. You accuse him – and in the end it is you that comes out the liar.
You also constantly claim he is stupid – yet he does not get caught. Do you understand how hard it is to pull of the crimes you blame him of without getting caught ?
The alternative is not only that you are wrong, but that you are deluded and biased.
And only one of those possibilities – the latter is consistent with reality.
Trump’s supporters will abandon him in a minute – when you present credible evidence. But for years you have failed to do that.
You think that your various legal attacks against Trump hinge on getting a conviction. They do not.
What they hinge on is PROVING your case.
That is not going to happen. We all already know the cases – all of them. And we KNOW from past experience that sunlight makes them get worse not better.
We know from experience that left wing nuts can get politicized convictions. No one will be surpised by that.
But if you want to be beleived – you have to earn peoples trust back – and that is very hard once you lose it.
Of course the majority of Trump voters will stick with him.
They KNOW lawfare when they see it.
You do not grasp the extent to which YOU – democrats and the left have destroyed your own credibility.
Our courts are not trusted – especially those in democratic cities. Our media is not trusted.
Democrats are not trusted.
All of this for good reason. You have lied repeatedly – and been caught.
You have done everything in your power to rig elections – and been caught.
Often you openly admit that the ends justifies the means.
Ordinary people are not stupid. Most of us understand Trump’s incredibly low odds of prevailing with NYC judges and Juries – regardless of the facts and the law.
They KNOW that Trump might as well be a black teen accused of molesting a white woman in the south in the 30’s.
Lets see a white trans women overdosed on testosterone kills white children at a christian school – and you blame guns and racism ?
Are you nuts ?
Why exactly is it that the TN legislature must enact legislation that is likely unconstitutional, and with certainty will not work and will prevent nothing.
The causes of rising violence in the US are obvious – significantly weakened policing in the most crime ridden parts of the country. Lax Law enforcement.
Rising anxiety and depression cause by the distorted world view of the left – this is self evident from the fact that the rising anxiety and depression are confined almost exclusively to the left. Also caused by increased drug abuse, increased suicide, all caused by bad covid policies.
Until very recently increasing numbers of guns int he US directly correlated to DROPPING violent crime.
When looking for the cause of a problem – we look for what changed when the problem started – not what did not change.
Regardless, why is it racist to refuse to enact bad laws ?
I would note that the largest single group of rising legal gun owners are blacks.
I hope and expect that Trump will pardon most of the J6 political prisoners when elected. And probably have some to the oval office.
But I would oppose his praising any congressman who disrupted congress in violation of congresses rules.
The standard of conduct for those inside the legislature is much higher than those outside.
Legislators do not protest govenrment – they are government. Legislators do not petition government – they are government.
The standard of conduct for a protestor and a legislator are not the same.
I would note that those on the left whigged out at the possibility that some republican congressmen or their staffs might have provided assistance to J6 protestors.
Democrats engaged in lawfare against anjy republicans who were he lest supportive of J6.
Regardless if protesting a rigged and corrupt election is insurection -t hen certainly protesting for useless and ineffectual gun laws restricing peoples freedom is insurrection.
Do you understand that at Lexington and Concord the Minutemen killed British soldiers who sought to TAKE AWAY THEIR GUNS.
“Jones said those three “acted outside of the paradigm of what was possible, and then changed political realities…sometimes we have to do something out of the ordinary””
No, Those three protested injustice. The gobblydy gook that Jones utters above is meaninglessly nonsense.
Adolf Hitler “acted outside of the paradigm of what was possible, and then changed political realities”
Do you or those on the left ever actually think about the real meaning of the things you say ?
No Johnson did not stand in solidarity with her colleagues. She stood off to the side. She was quite careful through the entire event to moderate her actions in comparison to the other two. It is not just that she did not use a bullhorn, it is that in nearly every way she was less offensive than the other two.
FURTHER, unlike the other two she did not have a long track record of prior misconduct.
And Finally – as the deciding vote on Johnson made clear – he would have voted to expel her but for serious defects in the articles against her.
He refused to vote to expel her so long as there were charges against her that were blatantly false. Such as specifically the claim that she had used the bullhorn.
Jones was removed and johnson was not because:
Jones actions – not just the bullhorn were substantially more egregious he got involved in conflicts with the police trying to keep protestors out.
he had a long track record of prior misconduct.
And finally several of the charges against Johnson were false.
Had her charges been revised to reflect the actions she actually took – it is likely she would have been expelled too.
I would further note that several minority members voted to expel all three. Are they Racist ?
Everything is not about race – just because there is a miroirity involved.
Everything is not abotu race -even when there is no minority involved – and yet those of you on the left rant about racism where racism is not even possible.
I initially argued that the TN legislature overreacted. That argument was based on my initial beleif that their actions were the result of this single event.
I have subsequently learned that is not the case. That those who were expelled – particularly Jones have a long history of misconduct.
It is my view at this time that the TN legislature acted appropriately. I do not know how this has subsequently progressed, but the Legislature should refuse to seat the expelled legislators. That if they can not do that they should strip them of committee assignments and whatever other priviledges are inside their power.
I do not know the TN constitution, but it is possible they can impeach these members and permantly barr them.
“Today Harry Belafonte died at 86. He marched with MLK and went to jail to protest racial segregation.”
What he did NOT do was “acted outside of the paradigm of what was possible, and then changed political realities”
That is NOT a meaningful or accurate description of Bellefonte’s actions.
I greately admire Ronald Coase. You can pick up anything that he has ever written and even a child can read and understand it – even though Coase is a noibel prize winning economist and one of the greatest economists of the past century.
Coase write about complex topics in simple easy to understand language.
He was plain spoken, You knew what he said, what he meant, his writing was not self indulgent arrogant, deliberately obtuse.
Jones is what Nasseem Talib correctly identified as an IYI – intellectual yet idiot.
Well educated – without learning anything.
That you would quote that nonsense he spoke is telling.
You could say the same of Hitler.
What you could not say of Hitler or Jones that you could say of Parks, MLK, Bellefonte, is that they stood up to injustice.
War is Peace. Lies are Truth. Hate is Love. Welcome of the United States of Orwell.
If the media had a spine, they would bring a bullhorn to these “meetings” and blast out a demand that he start answering questions. Do the same at any event where the media is invited to attend and keep blasting away until they get what they want. Or, just boycott them altogether and give them no coverage in print or broadcast.
I realize that won’t happen. Not because of anything more than recognizing what entity has a dominant influence over the major news outlets.
Together, BlackRock and Vanguard own 18% of Fox (now almost 21%), 16% of CBS, 13% of Comcast — which owns NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, and the Sky media group, 12% of CNN, and 12% of Disney — which owns a number of subsidiaries. Media behemoths that may present themselves as rivals are, in reality, owned by the same company.
https://rwmalonemd.substack.com/p/blackrock-owns-151-of-the-fox-corporation
Olly,
Now that is interesting.
All the more reason to subscribe to independent journalists like Matt Taibbi, Glenn Greenwald, Bari Weiss and The Free Press, Sharyl Attkisson, and others.
All the more reason to subscribe to independent journalists like Matt Taibbi, Glenn Greenwald, Bari Weiss and The Free Press, Sharyl Attkisson, and others.
Farmer,
Exactly. John Solomon at https://justthenews.com/ is another I would add. I get feeds from a number of different sources that provide me a starting point for getting to the facts. I like Dan Bongino and Glenn Beck because they will call out those on the Left and Right, and they will bring the goods to back up what they are telling their audience. Most importantly, they tell their audience to independently verify what they are talking about.
Olly,
Well said.
I do read Just The News daily.
“Olly noted that combined, Blackrock and Vanguard owned 18% of Fox. Could it be they are the ones who pushed for Carlson’s dismissal?”
Looks like you missed that piece:
https://justthenews.com/accountability/media/tucker-carlson-leaving-fox-news
😀 What made you believe it was missed? Everyone is speculating, including myself. One thing is a near certainty; Blackrock and Vanguard are not going to be on the record proving they pushed for Tucker’s firing.
You may have missed this piece.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/jonmcgowan/2023/04/25/blackrock-and-esg-may-have-factored-into-tucker-carlsons-fox-news-exit/?sh=1a80661035b6
1. “Everyone is speculating”. No, only the clueless
2. “This piece” is neither reliable nor plausible, but distracts from issue: After Tucker destroyed Government approved J6 narrative, it was the beginning of his end within corporate media. Greetings from Glenn Beck who’s TV show switched to a political movement and consequently from FN to (now) TheBlazeTV ($ 10/month).
3. Tucker will build up his own thing, he don’t need any content interference from DC or advertisers. He plays in the same league as Joe Rogan’s podcast on Spotify, but Tucker is politically much more influential.
Everyone is speculating”. No, only the clueless.
Actually clues are all we have. Unless of course I missed the direct quote you provided from either Tucker or whoever at FoxNews dismissed him.
Provide it or crawl back into the hole you crawled out of.
As always, you missed a lot!
There are so many.
Why would anyone pay attention to the MSM anymore ?
I frequently disagree with independent journalists.
But I trust and respect them. I can not say that of most of the MSM – including those at Fox.
Why would anyone pay attention to the MSM anymore ?
Likely because they don’t have to pay anything more than attention. The fiasco that was CNN+ is a good example. Hannity and to some extent Ingraham were directly benefitting from Tucker’s time slot. I’ll be surprised if they both don’t see a radical decline in viewership. The Trump campaign is probably going to take an indirect hit as well.
Contra those here neither Tucker nor Fox was particularly Pro Trump.
Those on the left do not grasp the difference between:
Trump is the lessor evil.
Get Trump is not a justification for trashing the rule of law
And
Actual support of Trump.
You can oppose the lawlessness of the left.
You can oppose Biden and the Left.
You can even not especially support DeSantis
Without automatically supporting Trump
“Contra those here neither Tucker nor Fox was particularly Pro Trump.”
Almost none of those here talking from the left have any inkling of what is happening.
Murdoch was never a real supporter of Trump, and when Trump was in office, Murdoch didn’t get what he wanted. Since then, I think he dislikes Trump even more. Many Trump supporters have moved away from Fox News. Tucker didn’t like Trump, but perhaps now he recognizes Trump’s value and the reason why many consider Trump as the right person for the job.
I think the left is making gigantic pushes to eliminate strong opinions from the right. The cable broadcast companies threaten conservative media with removal or have already removed them despite high ratings. The SEC prevented a merger of Truth Social with a financial company. That is unheard of since it increases competition. Take note that Dan Bongino is gone from Fox along with Tucker. Another recent departure was James O’Keefe from Project Veritas based on unadulterated garbage.
BlackRock appears around much of this. I am not saying they, in particular, are the cause, but rather commenting. One of the largest holders of Pfizer is BlackRock, and O’Keefe was fired immediately after his video exposing Pfizer. Tucker did recent shows on Pfizer, Ukraine, had an interview with Trump, and suddenly stopped providing J6 tapes. Heads rolled among some leftist supporters when they deviated slightly from leftist dicta. (I am not talking about Lemon. He is, was, and will always be an idiot.)
Things are far more dangerous internally than many would like to say out loud.
I doubt Tucker thinks Trump is the right person for the Job.
Just like many of us that he is the lessor evil.
Regardless unlike Left Wing nuts – Tucker is capable to working with, interviewing and engaging with people he has disagreement with, without turning it into end to end character assassination.
For the most part I do not care about this at all.
I have little interest int he MSM – it is a dying industry. The major journalistic force int he future is the independnet media.
several people – Beck, Megan Kelley, and others have said that Tucker can walk stright from Fox into an independent world of his own creation and make as much or more than he made at Fox with more control of his own life and image.
Will he ? I do not know or care – that is his business. Will he succeed ? Again – not my call.
As to Fox – I think this was a huge mistake. I do not think Fox can replace Carlson. But again – that is their problem.
The left seems to think if they can torpedo people like Carlson that somehow they can “win”.
They can not Carlson exists – because that is what his audeince wants.
If Fox does not meet that need they will go elsewhere – and it will NOT be to Rachel Maddow.
I do not know if Carlson will become a figure elsewhere or independently.
I do not know if Fax will find a Tucker Replacement somewhere.
I do KNOW that consumers control what is produced – not producers.
Someone will assure that Carlson viewers get what they want.
“I doubt Tucker thinks Trump is the right person for the Job.”
I doubt Tucker thinks anyone is the right person for the job. As I said earlier , I believe Tucker’s opinion of Trump is more favorable with time. My opinion is that the best person for the job is one that doesn’t want it.
“Will he ? I do not know or care “
I do, because he is a voice that represents one side of sanity. I’m glad we have various people willing to intelligently discuss things.
1. BlackRock is a multinational investment company, Vanguard one of the largest provider of funds; as their main goal is to make $$$, they need viewers/readers. Consequently, in most cases the ownership doesn’ pull the “bias” trigger.
2. News Corp (eg FOX, WSJ, NYP, HarperCollins) is dominated by Murdoch Family.
3. After Chris Licht succeeded Jeff Zucker as CNN chairman, he expressed a desire to change negative perceptions of CNN among Republicans. Problem: You can’t solve this in swap some mirrors.
4. Chris Cuomo (seeking a $125 million payout from CNN) switched to NexStar (NewsNation,The Hill) & tries to be a more balanced anchor.
5. Powerhouses like Bill O’Reily, Glenn Beck, Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly don’t need corporations to find viewers, they have their base.
Consequently, in most cases the ownership doesn’ pull the “bias” trigger.
🙄 If Blackrock wasn’t pulling the “bias” trigger, then they wouldn’t be spiking free market capitalism with ESG/DEI mandates.
What’s the conection between media bias & “spiking free market capitalism with ESG/DEI mandates”?
The connection is Blackrock’s unnatural influence on financial markets and Tucker Carlson’s show was a vehicle for anti-ESG voices.
Then you took the show differently than it was intended by the host: “Good evening and welcome to ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight, the show that is the sworn enemy of lying, pomposity, smugness, and groupthink.”
They don’t “own” Fox… they manage assets of a group of investors who own that percentage of the company… That is how investment management works…
As I cleary wrote about News Corp ownership status, I hope you didn’t address your replay to me!
Let’s face it. The devils servants have taken over America. The wicked have come in like a flood and justice has fallen in the streets. Gods wrath stands at the door and very soon.
“Quod Licet Iovi, non Licet Bovi” or: What is Permitted to the King of Gods (= Jove) is not Permitted to Cows [1]
Professor, you amaze me once again how you classify the events without losing sight of the big picture! And once again, I asked how your analyses would change if you include average Joe’s/ordinary Jane’s “common sense” judgment into account. Let me demonstrate this on these three issues you described:
1. President Biden does/has/makes/brings/praises..
# 46 is in the fortunate position that he is surrounded by execs like Lisa Monaco, Avril Haines, and Jake Sullivan (Susan Rice, Kathryn Ruemmler, or Jean Psaki could/can easily replaced) who take everything off his hands so that “moderate” Biden can concentrate on two essential areas: (a) following stage directions and (b) reading prepared statements. And the President can rely on powerhorses like Secretary Antony Blinken: He supported then VP Biden not only in his delicate role as Ukraine pointman but also offered his son Hunter a helping hand.
2. J6
Since the narrative is already written (Special Counsel Jack Smith & his unnamed team takes care of everything else), you’re walking on very thin ice. Remember when Tucker Carlson broadcasted previously unseen recordings that were completely out of context (Leader McConnell: of cherry-picking J6 footage to suit his offensive and misleading agenda), and counteracted Capital Police’s version. However, in the name of transparency, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has vowed to release the J6 security footage to the general public, AFTER a review takes place to address any security concerns. That takes time…
That brings me to the concept of the rule of law: Danny Boggs, Senior Judge, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, asked: “Whether the courts are applying one rule for the cows and refusing to apply that rule when the godly or the goodly are involved”? [1] Nothing could be simpler: Swap names and you’ll know the answer! [2]
3. Lack of Primary Debates
Frankly: Why should President Biden’s puppeteers waste his time to engage him in unsuitable debates focusing sooner than later of his age (who talks about the age of James Baker III, Warren Buffett, and Rupert Murdoch all three 92?). His cognitive impairment is an essential asset for his presidency: Think for a moment: Bernie Sanders occupies WH & permanently talks about his “manifesto”, puppteers had a hard time to explain his moves.

Fox lost more money in the hours after announcing Carlson’s departure then they allegedly did in this settlement.
Your money argument does not fly.
Fox was trading at 31.06 When it settled with DVS, it dropped to 30.80 in the next few days.
It dropped to 29.91 with the announcement of Carlson’s departure and remains headed down steeply.
Settling with DVS was inconsequential.
The departure of Carlson actually hurt Fox. Fox’s market Cap dropped by pretty much the alleged size of the settlement with the settlement.
It dropped 4 times as much with the announcement of Carlson’s departure – in one business day and is still dropping.
Fox News stock prices may drop further after they settle with smartmatic and the new case with Carlson’s former booking agent. It’s not over for Fox News. Who knows what else is in store with the remaining defamation cases against Fox News.
Wishful thinking.
The most damaging thing Fox has done is get rid of Carlson – that is far worse for Fox than the DVS lawsuit.
The DVS lawsuit was always a loser for DVS – Why Fox Settled I have no idea.
Derschowitz thinks it is so much a loser fo rDVS that he offered to handle the case entirely for the Legal Fees that he will get out of DVS for a bogus lawsuit.
From what little I understand – Smartmatic is even Worse.
We all know the left can win losing cases with corrupt and biased judges in polluted jury pools.
But do you Really think that Scotus is going to rule that News Media must be able to prove something to be true beyond a reasonable doubt before they can report it.
The CollusionDelusion cases were all dismissed – and sanctions imposed against the attorneys – and in those cases the Defamation was Real, what was reported was FALSE and KNOWINGLY FALSE at the time. Malice was obvious.
You know the courts are fubar when Trump and others can lose a suit against Clinton – Who manufactured a HOAX that defamed them.
While DVS can win a lawsuit – where their own key people publicly stated they were going to make sure Trump lost.
To this Day it has not been proven that DVS did not rig the election.
Much less in Nov 2020.
Finally, If DVS can successfully sue anyone for defamation for its conduct regarding an election, then it can not participate in an election.
The government can not insulate itself against claims of fraud by contracting out its responsibilities.
You can not defame the government. You therefore can not defame a government actor.
Those of you on the left – and the idiot judges and lawyers that you have corrupted never think about the actual implications of your decisions.
But then you need not do so, because you abandoned the rule of law long ago.
You are blatant – the outcome of cases must hinge on the politics of those involved. Not the facts or the law.
John Say,
Olly noted that combined, Blackrock and Vanguard owned 18% of Fox.
Could it be they are the ones who pushed for Carlson’s dismissal?
It has been noted in the past how much Blackrock bought up residential real estate during the 08′ crisis.
It has been noted the CEO of Blackrock to force ESG implantation in the banking industry.
Pure speculation on my part.
But goes to show that big corporations own larger and larger percentages of MSM. It appears it is not beneath them to force their personal agendas through those MSM outlets.
I do not have a dog in the Fox decisions.
I think Settling was a mistake.
I think the Carlson divorce was a mistake.
But Fox made those decisions – as it is free to do.
If Blackrock etc. pushed for them – that is their right.
I think ESG is stupid – but Shareholders can force companies to meet ESG requirements – shareholders would then be hurting themselves.
The SEC can not.
I am not affraid of the power of the Woke LEft in a free market. The danger is the power of a woke government in a free market.
As to Tucker – he is a big boy – he can take care of himself.
I have recently listened to several big players in inependent media who beleive Tucker can personally do far better as an independent.
It is probable that without an organization like Fox he can not command a 4M/night audience.
But without Fox he can almost certainly make more money for himself.
People like Beck and Kelley are doing much better on their own than they were within organizations.
Though their voices do not have the same reach.
At the same time – the influence of independent media is growing.
I trust Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Bari Weis, and myriads of other independent journalists far more than the MSM.
Lawlessness ruling the Lawful, does that seem upside down?
The situation reminds me of the difference between analog and digital 2-way radios.
In an analog system–the original form of radio–there is no error correction or optimization. The result was the signal often had pops, hisses, interference in all but the closest and strongest signals. Digital radio has error correction and other mechanisms to make voice or datastream much more clear and concise.
The main problem with digital is that when the noise or signal degredation reaches a certain threshhold, it fails completely. In the analog system you could do things such as turning off the squelch and increasing the volume so that you could hear someone talking despite a very weak signal. That is impossible in a digital system because if the errors are too many it just stops working.
With President Biden, he has so many people in place to prop him up from his cognitive deficit, gaffs, falling asleep, by isolating him from the press and protecting him, it will work for a time to keep the message going, but once his mental decline reaches an unsustainable level he is going to fail spectacularly and nobody is going to be able to recover the signal.
I suspect the plan is among democrats that they can buy time and hope this decline can be slowed to the end of the second term, when his usefullness will be nearly spent and they can kick him to the curb. The republicans are concerned because many of them view the vice president as being worse than the president and because they do not want her elevated to the presidency, they are willing to bide their time until Joe Biden leaves office and hopefully replace them with a candidate of their own.
Great analogy Darren!
“The republicans […] are willing to bide their time until Joe Biden leaves office and hopefully replace them with a candidate of their own.”
That won’t happen, because
* With every circle, electorate shifts in favor of “Biden-Sanders Manifesto”
* GOP electorate mainly consists of MAGA Grassroots Movement & those who back so called RINOs (their problem: though they have $$$, astroturfing doesn’t work). In short: If MAGA leader wins GOP primaries, s/he doesn’ get “RINO” votes (eg Lincoln Project”) in general election and vice versa.
* In the meantime, DEMs have multiple insurances such as “ballot harvesting”, big tech & mainstream media in play.
Charlotte,
Does the electorate really shift in favor of the Biden- Sanders Manifesto?
Some of the polls I have seen show Independents like me, who see the Biden-Sanders Manifesto as not being economically viable or sustainable. More Independents see wokeism as bad for society and America.
Agreed, Democrats do have ballot harvesting and mail in voting.
While they do have big tech and MSM, more and more of people see through it. We use independent media distrust big tech. We know both are the propaganda machines for the Democrat party.
Just read some of the posts from our leftist friends here on the good professor’s blog. They speak for the Democrat party. Read what they say, read what they dont say. Be mindful of the misinformation or disinformation they push. The level of deflection they push.
I think the Democrat party embracing wokeism has pushed the so far left, they are alienating long time liberal Democrats like Elon Musk, Bill Maher and the good professor.
As James says, this is not the Democrat party of JFK.
“Does the electorate really shift in favor of the Biden- Sanders Manifesto?”
1. Sanders ideas are backed by young people [1]
2. Development of electorate [2]
* Millions will turn 18, others will pass away
* Immigrants become citizens,
* Shift in race & ethnicity
3. Comparing President’s approvial rating and they way voters think if US heads in right direction shows a misfit of election results.

Darren, the drop-off in digital signal level, weather it’s radio, television, satellite, or other reception is called ‘cliff-effect’. Like you described and similar to an on/off switch, there’s either enough digital signal to make it viewable/audible or there isn’t. There’s no in-between like in the analog world where the picture might be a little fuzzy or the audio had a little static at long-range reception. Do you remember all those millions of people clamoring for digital tv, desperately wanting to spend money they didn’t have just to watch Wheel of Fortune? Neither do I. But the gubment wanted to sell broadcast tv frequencies to the cell phone people so it was made ‘so’. Sure, digital radio and tv are pretty and sound clean, but it wasn’t tens of millions of citizens who demanded it, it was a handful of people in government that mandated the transition whether The People asked or not. Cheers!
JAFO,
Well said!
At one time I considered getting one of those digital antennas (old school!) on my house to get free TV.
Nah. Nothing on there really worth watching.
😊
Jafo,
You are right about that.
I was one of those against our department going digital on the radios. Problem was the powers to be did not understand radios and neither did the bureaucrats at the centralized dispatch the county was going to. So after the upgrades the radio holes in the county went from staticy to a total blackout. There were swaths of deadzones. They ended up having to install a couple repeaters to cover the holes. Public safety agencies on a county and state should never have adopted digital in my view. The only advantage was easy scrambling for scanner-land but that could have been achieved in an analog system. Sure voice generally is clear but it is more weather, atmospheric and topography vulnerable. Scratchy beats nothing
No surprise here. The Democrats supported the mostly peaceful riots in Minneapolis and Portland so why shouldn’t they support the disruption of the Tennessee legislature. After all, the have the black vote to protect.
Biden again was easily soothed into something he would not have done when long ago his cognitive abilities were unimpaired. He was told he would invite a couple of Tennessee “legislators” (known as “rabble-rousers” to a great many of us) to celebrate them for what he was told their heroic defense of democracy. Given his mental condition, his deceitful caretakers were certain he would not be able to differentiate exactly which kind of democracy. It used to be that Biden would have known about the differences between liberal democracy and illiberal democracy since the former is what held the purpose of his life throughout what lasted of his healthy years. He would have appreciated that in a liberal democracy majority decision making matters, especially on the floor of a legislative body. What the agitators did was not a defense of liberal democracy, but instead an activity that incites and even defends illiberal democracy.
You’re doing a great job, men (transgenders, perhaps, certainly not Americans).
