A recent survey by Redfield & Wilton Strategies for Newsweek, found that 44 percent of millennials (between ages 25-34) favor criminal charges for people who use the wrong pronouns for others or so-called “misgendering.” We have previously discussed how misgendering is now a crime in countries like Great Britain. Misgendering has been referred to as an “act of violence” at some U.S. universities.
There has been a concern that we are seeing the rise of a generation of censors, who have been taught since a young age that speech is harmful and even violent.
Yet, hate speech is protected in the United States. Given that fact, it is astonishing to claim that a pronoun violation could lead to incarceration. Only 31 percent of the millennials disagreed with the proposition.
They are not alone.
Recently, Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), who is a lawyer, said that “if you espouse hate … you’re not protected under the First Amendment.” Former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean declared the identical position: “Hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment.”
Even some dictionaries now espouse this false premise, defining “hate speech” as “Speech not protected by the First Amendment, because it is intended to foster hatred against individuals or groups based on race, religion, gender, sexual preference, place of national origin, or other improper classification.”
Howard Dean and his fate at the hands of his self induced ‘inappropriate speech’ speaks for itself. In 2004, Howard hung himself on an ‘inappropriate speech’ and the Democrats then vomited up John Kerry as if to underscore what inappropriate really means.
And now ‘recent’ Democrats like old Ben Cardin (in political office one way or another for nearly 6 decades) want to use “hate” speech as a tool to use on opponents by claiming it is outside of the First Amendment? Better be careful old Ben, interpreting hate is like judging beauty…it is in the eyes of the beholder. When the tables turn, do today’s lovers become tomorrow’s haters and their speech so viewed? If that is possible, do we really want some DA or judge making life changing decisions based on a notion that changes over time or political perspective?
Old Ben Cardin has been in elected office since 1967 (yes, even before Joe Biden if that seems possible). It is nothing short of amazing and revealing how these life-long office holders, like Cardin and Biden, will do and encourage any activity to maintain power…even to the point of limiting and redefining Constitutional rights.
This whole idea of thwarting the demoncrats by warning them their own schemes could be used against them in the future is a JOKE.
The demoncrats have nearly an absolute lock on all the institutions of power already, they define the culture, the zeitgeist, the entire social media platform 90%+ of the time, education entertainment and the rest of it.
They look at the suggestion you made and haughtily laugh, knowing even now daily you helplessly watch your side being crushed for no wrong doing whatsoever, while their demoncrats do the exact crimes and more your side has been falsely accused of with no one stopping them, and it goes down that way, punishments meted out in severe fashion, and the demoncrats take their victory lap and do it again.
If your side ever takes any power, those “bad rules” the demoncrats used to crush their opponents will suddenly not be allowed to be applied – they’ll just use all their tools to utterly block them before they make a move at all. Your guys will be standing there again, wondering what just happened.

I’m pretty sure that when designing and amending the Constitution, the Founders never contemplated mass insanity or envisioned a society in which functioning adults would have problems differentiating dualities such as up and down, in and out, or men and women. It appears there was a general 18th Century assumption that regardless of possible political differences, the vast majority of the population was and would remain SANE and in agreement concerning basic aspects of physical reality.
And I would bet my last bag of Doritos that they certainly never envisioned a president two centuries later who would publicly postulate the possibility of alternative definitions of the word “is,” as in “It depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.”
Once you pull at THAT linguistic thread, then we are no longer speaking a common language — or any cognizable language at all — and are just grunting at each other by making funny sounds. As far as civilization goes, at that point you might just as well drop a hydrogen bomb and call it quits — time to start over from scratch. But sadly, it seems, there is a growing segment of society that follows just that sort of “reasoning” toward just that end: Let’s blow it all up and start over again from scratch.

It would be helpful if people stopped using the word “gender” as a synonym for “sex”.
“Gender” is not a synonym for “sex”. THINGS have “genders”, PEOPLE don’t have “genders”. People have “sexes”.
“Gender” refers to the artificial or stereotypical categorization of certain words, ideas, abilities, and other things as having traits like or being associated with a “sex” — “feminine” (associated with the female sex), “masculine” (associated with the male sex), or “neuter” (neutral, associated with neither sex). There are THREE genders.
“Sex” refers to the biological role that the individual plays in reproduction, “male” and “female”. There are TWO sexes.
Pronouns refer to their “sex” when we are referring to people and other sexually dimorphic living beings, and to their artificial or arbitrary “gender” when we are referring to non-living things.
Some of the confusion has been facilitated over the past few decades by the explosion in the usage of the word “gender” as an adjective, for example, “gender studies” — how gender, or genderization of various THINGS (social customs and mores, dress codes, employment etc.) affects men and women differently. Academics transmogrified “women’s studies” into “gender studies” (also adding the further distortion of “intersectionality”), but “sex studies” is something that would belong in the university biology department.
Lawyers and judges who ignorantly confound “gender” and “sex” are as much to blame as media and academic activists, because they should know better. The “gender” in “gender discrimination”, “gender-discriminatory law”, “gender-neutral” law and the like modifies things — actions, laws, policies, and so forth. Those actions, laws, and policies are not discriminating against anyone’s “gender”. The action, law, or policy is what is “gendered” and because of that, the action, law, or policy effects “sex” discrimination, i.e. discrimination against someone of one or the other SEX.
Sloppy language usage needs to stop. Some of this has been caused by a misguided Victorianish reluctance to use the word “sex”, substituting “gender” as some kind of polite euphemism. Stop it, just stop it.

I am sorry to say this, but I am afraid that a rebellion/coup may be the only way of ridding this nation and its citizens from the grips of a totalitarian-minded prog/left attempt to “fundamentally transform” this nation. Should we be surprised? No. This poll is evidence that this demographic has no understanding of the concept of Free Speech or any part of the Constitution.
Why is that? From k-12 they have not learned basic civics or history. While attending university they have been indoctrinated that the only speech that counts is that of the left. In law school the thought of free speech is an existential thought.
