Age of Rage: UChicago Report Finds 30 Million Americans View Violence as Justified To Keep Trump from Power

I recently asked, in light of the free speech implications of the second federal Trump indictment, when the price is too high for those who seek to jail the former president. The chilling answer is found in a new report out of the University of Chicago showing that almost 12 percent of the population, representing 30 million people, believe that violence is warranted to prevent Trump from assuming the presidency. That is almost double the number who believe that violence is warranted to ensure that Trump does become president.

As discussed in The Guardian, the Chicago Project on Security & Threats survey found many Americans are embracing violence as an option for political change.

We have watched as rage has risen in the country. It is often celebrated by one side or the other. I previously discussed how a scene like the recent confrontation on the floor of the Tennessee House perfectly captured our “age of rage.” Protesters filled the capitol building to protest the failure to pass gun-control legislation. Three Democratic state representatives — Justin Jones from Nashville, Justin Pearson from Memphis, and Gloria Johnson of Knoxville — were unwilling to yield to the majority. They disrupted the floor proceedings with a bullhorn and screaming at their colleagues.

It is a scene familiar to many of us in academia, where events are regularly canceled by those who shout down others. The three members yelled “No action, no peace” and “Power to the people” as their colleagues objected to their stopping the legislative process. Undeterred, the three refused to allow “business as usual” to continue.

Nobel Laureate Albert Camus once said, “Insurrection is certainly not the sum total of human experience but … it is our historic reality.” Those words came to mind when Tennessee’s House of Representatives expelled two members accused of disrupting legislative proceedings in what some called an “insurrection” or a “mutiny.”

Only a few days before the Tennessee House floor fight, a confrontation occurred off the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington which captured perfectly this new political reality.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) was shown on videotape screaming about gun control in the Capitol as his colleagues left the floor following a vote. Various Democratic members, including former House Majority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), tried to calm Bowman. However, when Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) asked Bowman to stop yelling, Bowman shouted back: “I was screaming before you interrupted me” — which could go down as the epitaph for our age.

The problem is that political figures on both sides are attempting to harness this rage.  They are playing a dangerous game. Trump’s inflammatory tweets are an example. Likewise, former Democratic National Committee deputy chair Keith Ellison, now the Minnesota attorney general, once said Antifa would “strike fear in the heart” of Trump. This was after Antifa had been involved in numerous acts of violence and its website was banned in Germany. His son, Minneapolis City Council member Jeremiah Ellison, declared his allegiance to Antifa as riots raged in his city last summer.

Unleashing such rage is difficult to control and often those leading the mob find themselves later pursued by it. This is why, during the French Revolution, the journalist Jacques Mallet Pan warned, “Like Saturn, the revolution devours its children.”

  1. Dear Prof Turley,

They’ll play hell catching me up the North Fork! (I could squeeze you in, when the going gets tough, if you act right.)

Tbh, I did not think there could be a more destructive, vile government than G.W. Bush/Cheney – they declared global ‘war on terror’, took the ‘gloves off’ and we ‘tortured some folks’. G.W. Cheney begot Obama. Obama begot Trump. Trump begot Biden. And here we are, as on a darkling plain, where ‘ignorant armies clash by night’.

For those keeping score: that’s two Republicans and two Democrats. And it’s the bottom of the 9th.

The game is rigged, and Garland’s shoeless Special Counsel is at the plate. Again, it doesn’t matter how they count the votes if only Demorcats and Republcans can win. It’s a trick – pick a card, any card.

Therefore, I call for an immediate constitutional convention to BAN ALL POLITICAL PARTIES from holding office. That would leave only Bernie Sanders (Independent), and I could live with that .. . for the time being.

*I have a plan: this is the 21st century, and there is no good reason we must endure years of litigation, if not rage, to determine our elected officials .. . when other countries like Brazil (pop 176 million) know the results of their erections within hours of the polls closing.

    1. “know the results of their erections within hours of the polls closing.”

      YIKES!!!

    1. Their “report” is nothing but narrative advancement. Something Garland and Wray will attempt to use to strip citizens of their Rights.

I am reminded of the homeless crises back in the 80’s. A Drake Professor published a paper, that counted every homeless, by county. The small rural county I grew up in, had 25. That shocked the editor/owner of the local weekly. He set out calling every church, local police, school, food bank, and all the personnel at the courthouse. He found exactly zero. A Professor in Des Moines, never setting foot in the county, claimed he knew the number.
But Reagan was President, and a narrative wasn’t going to sustain its self, so good leftist are always willing to oblige, by making stuff up.

      1. My reasoning, informed by experience shows, that academics, will prostitute statistics to advance a narrative. I used just one example.

The motivation is clear. Stripping citizens of rights. ie, Garlands going after parents attending school board meetings, and the FBI infiltrating Catholic Churces.

(CAGCC falls under the same umbrella)

  2. Trump had 18 months to return the stolen documents that literally put American service members at risk. Trump received extra light treatment – better treatment than anyone else. He was asked nicely to return the documents with no threat of criminal penalty. He simply had to respect federal law and respect the U.S. Constitution – which he swore an oath to uphold.

This was preceded by his coup attempt, that Trump himself masterminded. First time in over 200 years.

Trump could have avoided all of it. Only he is to blame for the consequences.

Republicans used to support taking personal responsibility, were oppose to victimhood, used to support the police and Law & Order! Trump brought all of this on himself.

    1. Trump had 18 months to return the stolen documents that literally put American service members at risk.

The PRA has a different view

Which troll are you that you changed your name?

      1. Probably the Shill. He liked that type of name. However, it isn’t fantasy and is an all male student body so it might not be him.

    2. If you really believe that was an attempted coup and Trump was the mastermind, you just might be disconnected from reality.

      1. “taking actions that amount to a coup.”

Funny, i just word searched the indictment and couldnt find that phrase.

So it sounds like u just made that sh!t up.

“I reject your reality and substitute my own”——ATS

        1. Sounds like you haven’t. Sounds like you made sh!t up. Saying you read it (or even if you did), doesn’t excuse characterizing it as somnethings its not.

    3. “literally put American service members at risk.”
—-from the just say stupid sh!t and see if i get called out crowd

    4. The former President of the United States was involved in a dispute with unelected bureaucrats about who had a legal right to possess pieces of paper. Trump never hid the fact he had the paper in his possession. He and his agents were in regular communication/negotiations about them. As the communications progressed a meeting of the minds occurred about some of the disputed documents. Those documents were returned. The parties also came to an agreement that different locks should be installed to better secure the disputed documents while negotiations continued.

On the other hand, Biden literally stole documents from a SCIF that he indisputably had no right to. He hid them in multiple places for years. The only rational conclusion is that he never intended to return them – until he got caught red-handed with them.

Democrats like you, Natacha, Dennis, and others demonstrate almost on a daily basis that you are mentally and psychologically incapable of being straight about ANYTHING.

FWIW, I think Trump probably had no legal right to possess SOME of the documents in dispute. But the way to resolve the issue is to go to civil court. Instead, the Biden administration empowers a drunk-on-power Trump-hating prosecutor to bring criminal charges so they can try to put him in a cage for the rest of his life. Over whether the former President of the United States could possess documents his administration created. It’s surreal.

Yet not a single Democrat opposes the path that’s been taken. Democrats WANT to see the former President of the United States put in a cage. Over disputed documents – and with the knowledge that Biden literally stole and hid documents that he INDISPUTABLY never had a right to possess.

Your party has descended into madness and oppression. It can not last.

  3. When people are being violent against us, we have the right to protect ourselves.

    1. If morons defund police, what you are going to get is vigilante justice by those who have a constitutional right to protect their own. I do hope the prog/left appreciates what they have done.

  4. At 10:02 Anonymous posted that the January 6th riot was much worse than the George Floyd riots. From Wikipedia: By the end of June 2020, at least 14,000 people had been arrested. By June 2020, more than 19 people had died in relation to the unrest. The estimated property damage is one to two billion. 60% of the damages will not be covered by insurance. For Anonymous to say that January 6th was worse than the George Floyd riots is more proof that Anonymous has become separated from reality. Keep this in mind when reading her comments.

    1. TiT,
Yes, I have already noted the desperation of our leftist friends to deflect from the good professor’s column and cry, ‘whataboutism’ in regards to Jan6th.
Fact is, 99% of the people present at Jan6th were peaceful but our leftist friends try to conflate that by claiming all those present were violent or endorsed violence.

      1. Well robbing a bank is a crime, and using a gun to do it is a crime

That is exactly like ‘parading’, with zero guns.

No wonder your so often wrong.

    2. What a dumb comment.
Trump did not raise my taxes. For that matter he put money in my pocket.
A good friend who is a higher tax bracket, with no dependents or tax shelters paid more.
Trump’s tax plan worked just like it was supposed to. Rich people like Nancy Pelosi who have a long history of insider trading and has accountants who use loopholes, they did not pay their fair share.

      1. Ah, no.
As I stated previously, Trump did not raise my taxes. We actually were moved to a lower bracket and got more in a return than the previous year.
And our friend who was not in the very top tax bracket, did pay more.
My, are you desperate. Trying to claim Trump raised my taxes when you dont even have access to my records. Just blindly making up stuff with no evidence screams of desperation.

        1. ATS
Just keep on trying to convince the 83% that they are better off now than in 2019. You think the only tax we pay is whats shown on 1040 Form A?
Out of touch, deluded, or just plain ignorant?

          1. “I reject your reality and substitute my own”—ATS

You make implications and deny that you made them all the time. “Economic climate” LMAO. Delude yourself, but that sh!t won’t fly here, lawdog.

“…blew the response”…lmao…what should he have done differently, that would have saved the economy??? Here’s your chance, know it all. I want numbers, not your usual DNC talking point BS.

The Trump economy was disrupted by COVID, period. It was flourishing and you can’t spin it, sorry. So you resort to the same thing Dems always do…the good times are because we set you (Republicans) up, and the bad times are because you left us sh!t. LMAO its tired an old, man, give it up.

            1. Tom,
              Well said.
It was the governments response to COVID that lead to the economic down turn. And it is noted that Trump did not try to implement some kind of federal lockdown. He left it up to the states, states power. It has been noted some states that did not impose serious draconian lockdowns fared better in both terms of their economies and COVID.
The economic recovery Biden tries to take credit for was lead by Red States re-opening their economies in full. Blue states like CA and NY were dead last in the recovery.
Biden tries to claim he added more jobs than any other president in history. That is a lie. Those were jobs that were forced closed by COVID.
Biden ran on the campaign promise of a war on fossil fuels. From day one, he started that war. Inflation was the result.

    3. Point of order: I only just confirmed today, after being notified via email from a fellow commenter, that “Anonymous” is a name automatically provided by the website to any comment by a commenter that didn’t provide their name. Thus, “Anonymous” isn’t always the same person or the same one or two people.
I confirmed that this is how the website works by posting my own reply earlier. My reply, posted at 10:13am, was as follows:

“Claiming that a person has a right to speak but not be heard is like saying a person has a right to eat but not swallow.”

It is credited to “Anonymous” because I mistakenly hit the Post button before completing the process of identifying myself. It was in reply to a another “Anonymous” who replied to my reply that begins “Swing and a miss!” which was a response to another “Anonymous” that posted an original comment at 9:22am.

So all participants here identified as “Anonymous” are not necessarily the same person, or even any of the several people credited with “Anonymous” comments. This seems like a flaw in the website that could be fixed with a little thought.

      1. Ralph de Minimis,
It is a “feature” by the JetPack api that runs the comments section on the blog.
There are other api’s out there that work with WP, but Darren uses this one. His choice.
Unless Darren were to use a api that required registration I do not think there is a way around the use of “Anonymous.”
I also am under the assumption the good professor does not like the idea of registration.
There is also the databased on the back end that would be required, passwords, password resets, the additional security needed, would be a huge headache for Darren to also maintain.

        1. Thanks for the explanation. It still seems to me that there MUST be a simple way to differentiate one “Anonymous” from another instead of lumping them all together under one faulty pseudonym or descriptor.

    4. “J6 was, hands down, worse than the George Floyd riots. Not even close.”

I reject your reality and substiutute my own”—ATS

  5. “the George Floyd demonstrations were nowhere near as violent as J6. Not even close.”
This doesnt even qualify as spin or misinformation. This is a blatant lie. Its demonstrably false as borne out by the numbers.
    25 confirmed deaths
$550 million property damage in minneapolis alone
    14,000 arrested
    2000+ law enforcement injured

If u dont think the lawlessness of the GF riots had anything to do with the actions of J6, u need to get a grip.

    1. Tom,
In their desperation to spin away from the UChicago poll, they are resorting to lies now.

      1. I am LMAO at this last comment. I hope our democracy isn’t in the hands of the 10% of the populus that exerts its power by purposefully being 90% of the people blocking the left hand lane lol.

    2. “demonstration had anywhere near the fallout of magats storming the Capitol in one day)”
Spoken like someone who’s family business wasn’t razed.

And knock it off with the taxes thing. You’ll never convince the 83% who believe otherwise, that they are better off than they were in 2019.

“storming the capital” OMG the hyperbole. LMAO

  6. When are we, finally, going to admit that we are in a civil war for control of this nation and that the prog/left ideologue is motivated by the exact type of fanaticism that we saw in those who took down the Twin Towers and would destroy lives of any sort for the advancement of their goal of domination. You can see it in the eyes of their foot soldiers (everyone remembers the crazed hatred in the eyes of those just after Trump’s win in 2016) and they are as determined, as brainwashed and as willing to go as far as needed (remember Portland’s summer of love). We learned quickly how to deal with the islamist jihadists – will we learn soon enough how to deal with our own, homegrown, terrorists?

  7. Ask Conan “The Barbarian” what is best in life. When you’re winning victories, do good & be best.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before and hear the lamentation of their women.

    1. And this is where we are at, we destroy them before they destroy us – yes, it has come to that point. The imbecilic prog/left – totally unaware of the lessons of history, have created a whirlwind that they soon will not be able to control.

  8. Anyone that likes having 2nd Amendment gun rights, should also know that both Trump and Bush weakened the “constitutional rule of law” – which is the ultimate protection of gun rights.

Re-electing a president with no respect for any law, any authority or any constitution will be the fastest way to lose your gun rights.

    1. Sounds like you are describing the Biden admin. They blatantly disrespect the rule of law right in Americans face.

  9. A small cadre of fanatical activists can make a lot of noise and foment violence, stir the masses and stir an otherwise (moderately) calm group into a mindless mob. History repeats itself at great costs. Those who were once our enemies are now our friends. Those who were once our friends are now our enemies. In my experience, most people want to have a secure job, a decent place to live, nice meals and pleasant distractions (sports, concerts, camping). But there is a never ending supply of wannabe dictators and those who are not content to enjoy their millions or billions. They would rather make trouble and export their madness rather than to relax, cruise around the world in luxury and leave the rest of us alone.

I have been watching older clips of the Dave Letterman and Johnny Carson shows. They were expert in their use humor for comic relief of political tensions and they didn’t pick sides on their shows. Robbin Williams was a genius and a great guest. His use of comedy cut to the heart of the matter.

    1. Friends of mine, born and raised in NYS, now residents of Florida, just returned from a foray into one of the upstate NY counties and into western MA. In the process they overnighted in Manhattan hotel on the West side, and attended a Broadway production. They could not patronize their favorite breakfast haunt on the East side because their path was strewn with people sleeping on the sidewalks and defecating in the streets. This they bore witness to. The hotels being choked, the parks, other recreational areas, and a military installation are going to be forfeit to this wretched refuse, the instrument of the short and long range planning of the current administration and the many minions who support them. What’s become blatantly clear to many of the NIMBIES of that ilk is that they have become victims in their own right and have no way of turning off the fan, or getting out of the way. The virtue signalers who can, send their children to private schools, go to and from work using ground transportation, have their groceries and other consumer goods ordered online and delivered, and flee from their ‘limo liberal; west side enclaves to the east end of Long Island, or fly out of the country to their other haunts. Those who cannot crawl around and peep about to find themselves dishonorable graves.

  10. “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.” JFK

When ideological and political corruption runs deep throughout:
    1. The investigatory and intelligence agencies,
    2. The prosecuting authorities, and
    3. The final arbitrors of justice – the courts,

Then you do not have a working justice system that was put in place by society to amicably resolve civil & criminal disputes, processes that were meant to prevent civil unrest, violence & revolution.

Trump is being targeted by all these institutions of power, who are obviously gaming these tools of legal authority not for justice, but for the usurping of the civil rights of the people to choose their leaders by democratic process.

What this adds up to from the common man’s POV, is the only remedy left to him, revolution and riots in the streets.

The courts, if they were actually doing their duty, would dismiss these criminal actions against Trump on several fundamental legal grounds, where the theory of criminal liability is lacking several elements, obvious to all are not made in good faith, as well as should be dismissed as SLAPP motivated prosecutions.
The courts are otherwise simply encouraging violent revolution.

    1. Trump’s lawyers are welcome to present those motions, but I doubt the courts will agree, based on the evidence before them.

  11. Professor Turley,

That survey was very poorly worded. It did not specify the context in which Trump would try to become president. It didn’t say whether it meant that (I) the violence would be needed to prevent him from assuming power in 2024 after legitimately winning next year’s election; or (ii) whether violence would be needed to prevent stop him from a violent takeover of the US government because he thinks he won in 2020 (or because he does not accept the 2024 results). Also (based on the Guardian article – I couldn’t find the UChicago original results), it doesn’t say whether “violence” would be from the US government or rogue civilians.

These are important details that were left out and essentially render the results worthless.

    1. I linked to the survey itself in my 10:36 AM comment. You can download it from that link.

      1. Thanks. Unfortunately, the survey’s wording is exactly as I suspected.

The question was: “The use of force is justified to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statements?” with the choices ranging from “Strongly Agree” to “Strongly Disagree” – Page 22 of 25.

As noted above, this question is meaningless, as someone could easily think that supporting it means that US military should be used to stop Trump from orchestrating a violent coup. I would absolutely agree with the use of force in that situation.

So, why would Professor Turley try to read anything into this terrible survey?

  12. Sorry, Professor, but no. I admire your pragmatism a great deal, and I truly appreciate it (it’s a large part of my loyalty to Res Ipsa and you all) but the violence and mendacity have been coming very nearly exclusively from one group of ignorant and perfectly amoral people, and it ain’t the right or the independents. Period. At this point we have absolute reams of evidence throughout every medium we have in the modern world, and yet they STILL expect us to accept their rewriting of even VERY recent history and hang onto some kind of slender thread showing they are the ‘good’ guys.

The dems have crossed the Rubicon with many of us; there is no going back, and I flatly reject them whole hog whereas in the past I would have happily made allowances and voted for some. It would not surprise me at all if the DNC tried to spin sentiments like mine as some form of prejudice or racism agains dems themselves, such are the depths of their insanity. I guess it’s ok with the FBI to brutally kill one feeble geezer and not even investigate clowns such as those in the article. Enough. This is a regime, not a political party.

Hoping the likes of Gabbard and possibly Manchin are signs the party is fracturing as many of us predicted/hoped it would before its pending demise. JFK is long gone, and he was an exception, not the rule. To woke liberals what I’ve posted here automatically brands me as ‘alt right’ and a ‘nazi’ when I’m anything but. If I had a Wikipedia page, it would be altered to tell the world so. That is not fairness, it is not sanity, that is not the United States. Newspapers spreading defamation in the 30s, Wikipedia pages in 2023. That’s what we call a parallel. And that IS the modern DNC.

    1. That you believe “the violence and mendacity have been coming very nearly exclusively from one group of ignorant and perfectly amoral people, and it ain’t the right or the independents” means you’re deluding yourself.

      1. James is not deluding himself.
He is accurately calling it as he sees it.
I see it too. We see the hostility from the left toward anyone not left on college campuses, in Hollywood, MSM. Leftists are clearly amoral in their attempts to censor others, shout down others for just having a different point of view or cancel them. We see it in how they want pornography in elementary schools, mutilate teens and try to hide information about a child from their parents. Leftists put their willingness for violence with the 2020 fiery but mostly peaceful Summer of Love. How many died? How many injured?

        1. @Upstate

The part they missed or willfully chose to ignore, or were paid to counter, is that the dem party is quite literally dead to many of us. It is no longer an option in this modern age. They trolls around here are in overdrive because they know they will never change our minds, and that we are not a marginal or easily marginalized portion of the populace, and thanks to the brilliance of our founders, we are all very well-armed and can speak freely.

If the media were capable of honesty, which they no longer are (those industries are toast – there is no rational way for them to walk back their insanity over the past decade, let alone the the tenure of the current administration) it would be PAINfully clear very few actually support the democratic party at this point in what they are *actually* doing, very, very few; chicanery is all they have, and it will never, ever be accurately represented broadly in the modern clime. We can vote with good conscience and pray that matters – I am cynical to the point that I no longer think it does, and that makes me supremely sad. I do not expect anyone else to adopt my attitude, but IMO we could very realistically lose the country completely in a couple of years if people do not. Wake. The. Bleep. Up. By the time the sheep who have thus far remained asleep realize their lives are uncomfortable in their tiny, nondescript towns that they love (and no harm or foul, just that city dwellers have borne the brunt) it will really be too late. My brother, who lives in a tiny town on the Western slope of Colorado, finally had someone high out of their gourd poop in front of his house. Unheard of, just a couple of years ago, and it is not a rich area. The Biden administration have destroyed the meat of anyone that ever gave a crap about this country in such a short time it makes my head spin. Younger generations in their ignorance have dragged us backward by literal decades in the name of what their tiny, fragile minds consider to be social ‘progress’. The groundwork was laid; anyone that has continued to vote dem post pandemic has quite handily aided in creating this mess that was already in motion. Good luck alerting them to that fact. Culpability is a beetch.

Love your posts, Upstate. Thank you for your voice, and thank you to the team here that make this possible. Even when I disagree with the Professor, he is truly a modern day hero, and I mean it. That dude has serious **** of brass, and he is seemingly the only one left in the party in a visible capacity that can say that. It ain’t braggin’ if it’s true. Thank you, Professor Turley, and thank you, Upstate Farmer.

  13. They weren’t all Trump supporters engaging in violence. Antifa and several feds were there dressed as Trump supporters. Besides, it was “mostly peaceful.”

  14. “The chilling answer is found in a new report out of the University of Chicago showing that almost 12 percent of the population, representing 30 million people, believe that violence is warranted to prevent Trump from assuming the presidency. That is almost double the number who believe that violence is warranted to ensure that Trump does become president.”
    ***************************
Anyone seriously watching knows the Left are the true villians in this play. However, it’s easy to advocate for violence when you don’t have to do it. Recall this is the same crowd whose parents avoided the draft in the 60s; who go ballistic when their latte isn’t properly vanillaed; can’t stand the sight of a rare hamburger; venerated a then 15-year-old OCD, green saint; and who’ve never been close to a corpse except at a Zoom funeral. War is tough business and I just don’t see this 30 million keyboard warrior army mustering up then matching up against a duly elected government. That said, they can burn a few cities, threaten a few suburbs and wreak havoc. But that has a shelf life especially when Trump will more readily call out the National Guard as he foolishly was talked out of by his “trusted advisors” when blue cities (with sissy mayors) were burned by BLM and ANTIFA. If the radical orks want a second civil war, I can only repeat Lincoln’s entire famous, prescient and chilling passage about a House Divided:

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.” I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other.”

I like the majority in that wager and the consequences for those of the 30 million who actually show up to fight are quite dire.

    1. Good post.

To you, however the glass is half full while to me it is half empty. (” the consequences for those of the 30 million who actually show up to fight are quite dire.”)

  15. Okay. How does this play out?
30 million Americans believe violence would be justified to keep Trump from a second term. Something tells me in this “age of rage,” that number would grow as the election grows closer, rage fanned by MSM pundits and some politicians, like Nancy Pelosi who recently said the US would cease to exist if Trump were to win. She never says how or why.
Who exactly are these people who are going to use violence to keep Trump from a second term? The same ones who participated in the 2020 fiery but mostly peaceful Summer of Love? The myth antifa?
Or are these the same people who call for escalation of the war in Europe but will not volunteer to fight themselves, rather send poor minorities into the meat grinder?
Will Democrat mayors and DAs tie one hand behind PD backs to prevent them from enforcing law and order?
What if Trump does in fact win in both the electoral college and the popular vote? To what lengths will these people be willing to go?
What would be the governments reaction be?

    1. “What if Trump does in fact win in both the electoral college and the popular vote? To what lengths will these people be willing to go? What would be the governments reaction be?”

The left and many who follow the left would gladly overturn our government and Constitution if there were no perceived cost to them. The bureaucracy is fed predominantly from the left, so it is a no-brainer to figure out where most stand. All too many Conservatives/ Libertarians etc., worry too much about how they look to others. Most know that for the country to remain free when they vote, they must vote for the least worst. But listen to many. Though they don’t have to say they dislike the least bad (Trump or someone else), they do. Instead, the appropriate thing to do is focus on winning, not worrying their tie isn’t straight or their candidate has a lot of flaws.

Those against the left and what the left has done to America must stop worrying about how they appear to others (frequently on the left). They need not apologize for the candidate they vote for, which provides energy to the left. They must support anyone against the fascist left and worry about what is happening NOW. Waiting too long will mean the end of individual choice.

  16. Trump swore a solemn Oath of Office to NOT violate the U.S. Constitution, defending the Constitution from both foreign and domestic enemies. Trump then made a promise to GOD to follow his Oath of Office to the U.S. Constitution.

Trump not only led and masterminded the January 6 coup attempt, but gave aid & comfort to these domestic enemies to the U.S. Constitution.

More than 60 judges ruled Trump lost the election and he’s still lying today.

No president in over 200 years has perpetrated this form of disloyalty to the United States. No president has ever before violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment – deeming him unfit for future government authority.

    1. There are koolaid detox centers available to you – it is the first step in curing your TDS.

    2. “More than 60 judges ruled Trump lost the election and he’s still lying today.”

And no one has ever posted a bigger lie on this message board.
First of all, no court can “rule” that someone won or lost an election, and NONE of those judges did any such thing.

Why dont you list the actual rulings here and show that you arent parroting some horsesh!t democrat talking point.

      1. Out of those 92 cases only 30 were decided on the merits. 22 were in favor of Trump or the GOP. 8 were lost.

Leftists like Staunton are incurably ignorant. These numbers have been provided on the blog at least a dozen times. ATS who might be a tad smarter than Staunton asked for some of the winning court cases, and when I provided them, we didn’t hear from him again on this topic.

If Staunton can’t figure out the truth in this instance, he is hopeless and not to be believed in all others.

He fits in well with the Shill and with Bug, if he isn’t one of them. Neither knows anything.

        1. Can you list the 22 cases that were decided in favor of Trump on the merits? Links to the case law?

          1. Do you have a computer that you can get to a search engine like google, bing or duckduckgo to look the info up?

Or maybe you can find the truth about the cases from MSNBC,CNN, Wapo,NYT or the rest of the govt paid propagandist.

You lazy b*astards, even if he posted it you people lie about the facts or deny them.

                1. This was not a ruling decided on the merits. It is a TRO. There was no trial.

Try again? I suppose 1 down, 21 to go?

                  1. This went before a judge and the ruling turned out in Trump’s favor. Now you can show where your side won one. Then I will give you another case, ATS.

This is the case summary: “Plaintiffs brought suit requesting an injunction on the Auditor of Linn County’s action, whereby absentee ballots were prepopulated before being mailed to every active registered voter, even though the Sec. of State’s emergency election directive asked for blank ballots to be distributed. Plaintiffs claim this can cause voter fraud as there is no assurance that the forms were actually mailed by the voter listed on the ballot.”

There were many claims of this nature which can constitute voter fraud, Many of the cases never made it before the judge and likely would have resulted in Trump’s favor.

The question of improper ballots is huge and considering only a relatively small number of votes could have changed the election, consideration of these tainted ballots is very important and prove Trump had a good reason to say and do what he did.

You are averse to free and fair elections. You want everything done to cloud elections so that your party can cheat which is what they did.

Everyone can take note that when you are given what you ask for you continue to complain. You are a whiner.

                    1. It is not a ruling on the merits. It is a preliminary injunction beforehand.

                      Full stop.

Find me a case anywhere in America where it says otherwise.

This is not a matter of opinion. It is settled law.

                    2. Were those ballots counted? No. It is a win and if it went further maybe we could prosecute people for illegal voting.

I’m dealing with the 90 plus cases where you guys say Trump lost all of them. He didn’t but as usual when proven wrong you don’t accept responsibility.

ATS, you have been wrong on virtually every important issue including the Russia and Ukraine hoaxes. The public can now see how the left and the media has lied so there is no need for me to prove anything. It’s proven every day when we look at unfiltered news.

I’m waiting for your court case where Trump lost. Then I will produce another of mine where Trump/GOP won.

                2. In case you needed additional proof of this…

                  https://www.law.cornell.edu/rules/frcp/rule_65

“Before or after beginning the hearing on a motion for a preliminary injunction, the court may advance the trial on the merits and consolidate it with the hearing.”

Also see, National Collegiate Athletic Association v. New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, Inc.: https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/19/19-1114/137484/20200309133634903_2020-03-09%20NCAA%20Cert%20Petition%20FINAL.pdf

Still waiting for attempt No. 2…

                  1. “the court may advance the trial on the merits and consolidate it with the hearing.”

Take note of “on the merits”. That is what I provided.

“Still waiting for attempt No. 2…”

I’m waiting for one where Trump lost on the merits.

I will provide a second one if after receiving it you promise to admit, YOU ARE WRONG!
If that admission is made nicely, I will provide you a third. If you start providing a name, I will provide you a fourth. If you stop with the BS I will provide you with a fifth.

So far, YOU WERE PROVEN WRONG.

                    1. Advance trial on the merits…

Meaning there was no trial on the merits….

                    2. It is part of the cases where you and your friends said Trump lost. You now want to change things. That is what you always do and you have gotten pretty good at making up excuses. You have been wrong so many times, you have a lot of experience.

Produce yours and I will produce another. I wrote how you can get even more cases from me, but you know you are wrong so you are trying to convince the stupid that you are right. LOL

                    3. It is not part of the cases “where you and your friends said Trump lost.” It is from August 2020. The election was in November if you forgot.

I have changed nothing. The original claim was that Trump won on the merits at least 22 times. I asked for these cases. This does nothing to support that claim because it never went to a trial.

I’m not sure what “excuses” you are referring to.

If you need to get a “lawyer” commenter like Lin to weigh in, she will not object to anything in this post (unless she actually is not a lawyer)

                    4. We don’t need Lin (though she can comment) because it is not about the law. It is about a series of cases where you previously and many others have announced that Trump lost all of the 60 cases before judges. It wasn’t true then, and even with the more recent cases, it is a lie. Trump/GOP numbers rose since your first claim.

You are a liar and a welcher. Yes, I can provide every case, but for me to go through the labor, I want something in return such as your admission that you lied or, if you prefer, that you were stupid.

This is the original ATS (Anonymous the Stupid), who I am talking to right now. He is known to lie, use multiple names though not presently, has used pretend names so people would think he had an agreement, and was spiteful to members of the blog by egging people on knowing that he used an alternate anonymous address so that all postings on that chain would disappear. Ideologically he is closest to a Stalinist.

                    5. This was your original post, to which I responded:

“Out of those 92 cases only 30 were decided on the merits. 22 were in favor of Trump or the GOP. 8 were lost.”

You only offered one case. It was not decided on the merits because it never went to trial. A case cannot be decided on the merits unless it goes to trial.

I have not lied. I have not changed anything. I simply asked for a single case that backs up your original claim. After many subsequent posts, you continue to fail to offer one.

Try again, or consider this conversation over.

                    6. ATS, you are a putz. The initial claim was that of the 60 cases brought to court, Trump lost all of them. You repeated that same statement some time ago, and I corrected you with the same court case shown yesterday.

In the intervening time, you found an excuse. Your critical thinking skills are not good enough. Trump didn’t lose that case, and the judgment was in his favor. YOU WERE WRONG, as usual.

In the intervening time, the number of cases Trump/Gop won increased. Your minuscule Stalinist brain can’t stand it. Trump didn’t lose those cases.

I will toss you a doggie treat:

Genetski v. Benson, No. 20-216-MM in The Court of Claims For The State of
                      Original Title:
Genetski v. Benson, No. 20-216-MM in the Court of Claims for the State of Michigan
                      Description:
Michigan Court of Claims Judge Christopher Murray rules Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson violated the Michigan Administrative Procedures Act.

You will leave this discussion without ever proving your claim just like you left the other discussions of impeachment etc. YOU WERE WRONG THERE AND WRONG NOW.

          2. Yes, I have them. Would you like to see one? But then you have to read it and I will provide another. You can provide the 8 won by the other side.

I already provided this to ATS, but I can do it again. However you have to prove yourself an honest poster.

    3. Trump not only led and masterminded the January 6 coup attempt, but gave aid & comfort to these domestic enemies to the U.S. Constitution.

Neither the partisan, Democrat congressional committee, nor corrupt Democrat DOJ/FBI, have presented any evidence to support your statement.

But your free to expose yourself as a person forced to lie, to advance the Democrat narrative.

  17. The pendulum begins to swing the other way, and the shit hits the fan. The LEFT’s laissez faire approach to enacting and enforcing laws without serious consequences for violations, up to and including standing promulgated Federal laws, and the apparent politicization of the DOJ and FBI has those whose points of view are otherwise convinced that matters have to be taken into their own hands. They have successfully fueled the arguments of their adversaries that the Second Amendment be protected at all costs. Every looted place of business and violence committed against citizenry in the perpetration of same and elsewhere serves as a nail in the coffin. Yet that stuttering, stammering, senile and braindead hero of theirs suns himself on the beach.

  18. These are progressive clowns you’re talking about, when they say violence, they could mean very stern words
