Yesterday, we discussed NBC’s bizarre comparison of Hunter Biden’s multimillion dollar alleged influence peddling to Nikki Haley’s daughter’s use of TikTok. The comparison was made to hit Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. That target is notable due to another equally bizarre “fact check” by the network where the company suggested that DeSantis half lied when he claimed to have arranged the removal of hundreds of American citizens from Israel. The network said it was only “half true” because someone else flew the planes, DeSantis only supplied the money. I kid you not.
Here is the what NBC calls a fact check of a Republican:
The network dispels any notion that DeSantis personally flew the planes to Israel and said that “DeSantis’ primary role was to fund the flights.”
Well, yeah. As NBC News’ Peter W. Klein explained,
On Oct. 12, DeSantis signed an executive order that allowed the Florida Division of Emergency Management to pay for Americans in Israel to fly back to the U.S. The flights, however, were organized by Tampa-based nonprofit Project Dynamo, which specializes in rescuing Americans in distress, and DeSantis’ primary role was to fund the flights.
So how is it “half true” to say “I scrambled resources in Florida. I sent planes over to Israel and I brought back over 700 people to safety”? He even made direct references to supplying “the resources” for the flights.
The correction also implicates millions of parents who regularly say that they “flew the kids home” for the holidays. NBC is suggesting that you should say “I supplied money to allow my kids to purchase tickets to have United Airlines fly them home.” However, it was not the company as a whole that literally flew them back so you might want to say “to have employees of United Airlines fly them home.”
NBC could also now presumably tackle more aspirational flight claims like the many bumper stickers claiming that “Jesus is my co-pilot.” Not only are the cars not capable of prolonged flight, but Jesus is not even licensed in any state to operate a motor vehicle.
For NBC, declaring this a half truth is still preferable to saying that it is true, particularly when the statement was preceded by a criticism of President Joe Biden in asserting that “[President] Biden’s neglect has been atrocious, we had Floridians that were over there after the attack. He left them stranded; they couldn’t get flights out.”
NBC’s fact check brings new meaning to Benjamin Franklin’s warning that “Half a truth is often a great lie.”

Gov. De Santis claims over 700, but his office says nearly 700. So which is it? They can’t both be right. He’s an hyperboloid. His claim is only 70.7% true, which is the square root of one half.
Poor DeSantis. Even though he told the truth, he’s up against Joe Biden and the media.
Conversely, NBC and other media have not only protected Joe Biden for his genuinely outrageously-false statements, but continued to report them as true. (They are much more interested in Trump’s hyperbole/sales puffery than patently false statements of Biden.)

I generally dont watch debates, but I may watch the Biden vs whomever debate if there is one. Would not be surprised if the DNC pulled some highjinks to get it canceled.
Remember the movie “Weekend at Bernie’s” when 2 kids, Larry and Richard, used Bernie’s body as a “brand” to acquire money, access, drugs, live a lifestyle they could not achieve on their own merit, all to exert influence and power over others? Crazy!
The media bias is so bad I will not watch MSNBC or CNN, you just get Democratic propaganda on those stations. Laura Ingraham continually makes fun of these stations, deservedly so. Some of these reporters are right out of a comic book they are so ridiculous. The claims made by the talking heads – “Joe Biden will bring us together” – are often so ludicrous you just laugh at loud. The guests on these stations can only offer up one opinion on Trump – he’s a terrible person. No nuance at all. They are not allowed to talk about Trump’s accomplishments ( which were pretty significant when you compare Trump’s Presidency with stumblebum Joe Biden’s). I recall we used to have this “fairness doctrine” that was forced on the TV networks by Congress. TV stations, due to their potential for brainwashing viewers (like you see in North Korea), were supposed to fair in their political coverage. I think maybe it’s time to bring that back.
One of the problems with all of this – whether it is targeted at Trump, DeSantis, or Biden,
is that so much is fixated on word games.
I do not care much at all about the long list of lies that Biden has told.
I do not care much about the allegedly lies Trump has told,

What matters is that Biden is a failed president. He took office with the wind at his back.

Further past history demonstrates that is NOT likely random chance or things out of the Presidents control.
I doubt Biden planned the Israel Hamas war, but that does not alter the FACT that he contributed significantly to causing it.
Right now we are fixated on Biden family corruption.
To the extent that the many Lies Joe Biden has told regarding that matter it is only because they are reasons not to beleive what he says today.
The real issue is the use of government power for personal profit.
That and the fact that he has done so to the disadvantage of US interests.
We would negatively view many of the deals that Biden made badly – even if they were perfectly legal and had no relation at all to Biden’s public office. Even if they were legal, do we want as president someone who has been profiting from Deals with Putin’s oligarches, or Chinese spymasters ?
But many of these deals are not legal. They appear to be worse than bribery. It is one thing if someone comes to a government official and says

It vastly more immoral when those in government send their family out as salesmen to pitch the benefits of bribery to people that those in government should have ties to.
My point is the issue is not the lies. It is the actions.

A lot of your readers can remember when the major networks, CBS, ABC and NBC has top-drawer anchors and journalists, editors who actually knew how and what to edit — that was decades ago. A question that must be asked is whether good journalism and proper editing will ever come back in the United States?
Some have said journalism’s decline happened when it went from a trade to a profession.
It does seem that a journalism degree from a prestigious university increases smugness at the expense of honesty and information.
Decades ago, just out of high school, I dared to write an article on an outdoor sport and take it to a city newspaper hoping they would print it. I was put with an abrupt, no nonsense man who could have come out of a Thirties movie. No university polish, no fluff; just the facts. He went through the article, suggested sensible corrections and clarifications maybe corrected some grammar. Pure working man. I thought he was wonderful.
Probably there are a still a few like him. Nicholas Wade, former NYT science writer comes to mind for his dedication to truth and honest reporting. He is university educated but in science, not journalism. But for the most part journalists today seem ignorant and dishonest and I have come to ignore them.
What came as a shock comparable to the universities disgusting response to the Hamas atrocities was the media coverage of the Duke Lacrosse case. With only two exceptions, Megyn Kelly and Dan Abrams, both lawyers, the media encouraged and joined a mob out to lynch three innocent boys. The journalistic atrocity was repeated in the Zimmerman/Martin case and the George Floyd murder trial.
Time has not ripened the journalist’s profession; it has rotted it.
Yes, we’ve seen a horrific decline in the quality of journalism in the US, and this keeps getting worse.

The slanted bias, the vapid stupidity, the outright lying and the unbelievable level of discourse on their MSNBC sick child of an outlet are embarrassing to themselves and to the country at large. AP is more troublesome die to the fact that many people don’t realize the outsized impact they have on local and national news and the NY Times is very dangerous because for some reason people cling to the idea that they are serious, but NBC is the so destructive because they seem so benign and so “regular” because they bring normal (albeit moronic) TV shows into people’s living rooms every night.
NBC, parent of MSNBC, has Andrea Mitchell pretending to be a serious journalist, Joy Reid pretending to be a normal person (remember she had many posts attacking gays and she claimed she was hacked, which was a provable lie), they have Al Sharpton sitting as a host on a discussion on anti-Semitism and they have Nicolle Wallace, Chuck Todd, Elie Mystall and Chris Hayes saying outrageous things in order to rile up the Democrat’s base, whatever harm it may do to the nation.
This “fact check” by NBC, a fact check that I pointed out just yesterday or the day before on this site, is a perfect example of what is happening to our country. NBC actually claimed that DeSantis lied by saying what he did about rescuing Floridians from Israel because he didn’t fly the planes. Think about that. How dumb does that writer have to be to put that out there? How hard is that child trying to help Biden and harm Republicans by throwing that garbage out there? It is perfect because it is dumb, it is biased, it is not analytical, it is childish and it is a joke. DO NOT WATCH NBC!
