Cardinal Javier Lozano Barraga, Mexican Cardinal and President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Health Care Workers in the Roman Catholic Church, has declared that there are no homosexuals or transsexuals in heaven. If they want heaven, they have to change their sexual partners to members of the opposite sex.
Barragan stated that homosexuals and transsexuals “will never enter the kingdom of heaven and it is not me who says this, but Saint Paul.” They are, he explained, an “insult to God.”
He went on to explain that “[p]eople are not born homosexual, they become homosexual, for different reasons: education issues or because they did not develop their own identity during adolescence. It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and the dignity of the human body is an insult to God.”
The Cardinal, however, encouraged people not to try to punish gays themselves: “Homosexuality is therefore a sin, but this does not justify any form of discrimination. God alone has the right to judge. We on earth cannot condemn, and as human beings we all have the same rights.”

I never knew people could become gay because of education issues–and I was a teacher for many years. I’m beginning to see the light–and understand my role in all of this now. I shared the Frog and Toad books with my students never realizing that those two charming amphibians were more than best friends. They were gay lovers.
I am a very content atheist but also a recovering Catholic. I learned (in Catholic elementary school, Catholic high school, and Catholic college) that the only person whose final destination we know is the good thief because Jesus said to him, “This day you will be with me in Paradise.” No one else. We don’t know if Popes are in heaven, or saints, or anyone because we only see the surface. Only God knows what is truly in a person’s heart. Only God knows who belongs in heaven. Not any mere person. I seem to recall that announcing that you knew who was or was not going to heaven was blasphemy, claiming God’s knowledge as your own, so I’m guessing that the Cardinal, by his own beliefs, is in pretty serious trouble right now.
So what? Hell has all the good music anyway…
So many children to do,so few catholic priests. I guess they get special dispensation for doing the same thing that they condemn. You know there is a shortage.
The next issues is the South American Catholic Church does not prohibit marriage. What a difference a border makes.

There are no innocent children. If they took their own lives, clearly, according to mother church, they will be in Hell.

Furthermore, how many practicing Catholics who, acting within the bounds of their professional or family positions, allegedly took part in the grand pedophile cover up are in heaven? How many of the innocent children who were corrupted by the evil of the Church’s alleged pedophile practices and unable to cope with the pain as teenagers and adults, took their own lives are in heaven?
In my opinion, your opinion on the hellification of homosexuals is an illustration of the exaggerated holiness and moral superiority that evil uses as an insidious disguise when attempting to hide its true purpose. Rather like the alleged pedophile who, with a snarky grin on his face, holding a candy bar in one hand and a “religious” card in the other, “suffers the little children to come unto him”.
Damnation may be real but homosexuals aren’t the ones who have to worry about it.
Wow – I’d be very nervous if I was, oh, say… a very religious Jewish construction worker with an especially close relationship with my mother, who, in a culture where pretty much everyone gets married, I died unmarried, where I hung out with sailors in the back rooms of taverns making noises with each other that had to be explained by saying, “uh, oh – those noises, uh, we were, uh, possesed by the holy spirit … Yeah! That’s it, that moaning and grunting we were making was inspired by God! That’s the ticket!”

We had this cardinal in Zaire who used to be clad in the same kind of flashy red attire and hip-hop artist’s jewelry. The man was in fact a cardinal sinner (which reminds me that the name of the late prelate of Manilla was Cardinal Sin–can you beat that?) who had fathered about two dozen kids with different women. He was one of the most vocal critics of Mobutu. But as it turned out, at his death it was Mobutu who saved his reputation. At his funeral, as Congolese tradition required, each one of his many wives was wailing: “The father of my children is dead! The father of my children!”… Alarmed that a religious scandal was about to break out in front of the international audience, the Zairian dictator instructed his secret service people to go tell the mourning wives to change their tune as follows: “Our father is dead! Our father is dead!”… which saved the day!… I won’t be astonished if some bones were to come tumbling down from the cute baby-face cardinal’s huge closets…at his funeral!
