Meet Michael Voris who believes that the country needs a dictator who is “benevolent” and most importantly a Catholic. Voris advocates Catholic rule for the nation in this video, which surprisingly does not appear to be a joke.
Voris’s call for a “benevolent dictatorship” of a Catholic ruler is part of a video that has gone viral on the Internet. He is the founder of St. Michael’s Media and the star of a series on “The One True Faith.” He is described as a former seminarian and CBS anchor, who has won multiple Emmys for his work in broadcast news production.
Voris graduated from Notre Dame in 1983 with a degree in Communications and concentrated studies in history and politics. Equally impressive is his theological education. He not only trained as a young man in theology at the doctrinally-sound St. Joseph’s Seminary in New York, but in April of 2009, he received his Sacred Theology Baccalaureate (STB) from Sacred Heart Major Seminary/Angelicum in Rome – Magna Cum Laude.
At some point, he appears to have developed a taste for dictatorship and theocratic government.
Ok now I can alert you to more specifics.
Please read my comment on Ms. Elaines latest post.
bammbamm,
I was talking about shame … your post in response concerned guilt.
If you are going to push the Church of Constantine at least learn its theology … ignorance hampers your debate …
Bda,
I live right on Lake Erie, a little west of Cleveland downtown proper.
I took your warning a couple of weeks ago when I first recognized it on your site(I know it’s not YOURS but it’s easier to call it yours as a reference point).
So far the jet stream/wind current seems to have carried/blown everything just north or just south of us … that can’t last forever
Swarthmore mom,
Religious organizations in general have a lot of power … the RCC has gained numbers in the U S because of the particular nationality of today’s immigrants as an increase occurred when the Irish first started coming in large numbers … or the Italians … or the Poles … etc.
No U S presidency has been won without carrying the protestant vote either.
Religiosity is becoming less and less relevant as the younger voter gains in numbers and thus in influence … the same irrelevancy will apply to issues like gays and abortion … both pushed by religious interests and both slowly but surely becoming irrelevant as political footballs. Mega churches, those fundamentalist organizational movements that got their start in the 1900’s as a reaction to women getting the vote, are losing members and going bankrupt because young people aren’t interested in their message. Teabaggers will not live forever. In fact, these next 4-6 years will probably be their last hurrah.
I would suggest that the only religious organization maintaining a committed youth-adult membership is the Mormon (LDS ) Church.
We have seen it over and over again in our history. The immigrant parents are very devoted to their church (whatever it may be)but by the 2nd generation … that kind of commitment has been watered down considerably. I see nothing on the horizon to change that pattern.

@Bdaman – Note Catholics make up over half of Christianity by religion.
Wait until the Anglicans and Lutherans fold up their tents and come back home to Mamma.
Bdaman I didn’t know you old enough to be a grandfather. It looks like your guy. Joe Miller, might have been a little too rough for Alaskans. I don’t even think Palin can rescue him. If O’Donnell and Miller lose, things might not look so good for your gal, Sarah.

Yes my grand kids won’t be over but I have my five year old to go with.
Blouise I’m not sure exactly where you live but be careful next weekend. Very iffy forecast but it’s this time of year that can be most dangerous for you Northern Folk. It has been almost twenty years to the day of the famous Perfect Storm.

@Blouise “Shame … the reliable Christian stand-by … always applied to another’s actions … never to their own”
1. Ever heard of Confession?
2. The guilty flee where no man pursueth.

Buddah I rarely go to the catholic church, but I disagree that they are “irrelevant”. The religion grew in the US and Canada last year. The immigrants are largely catholic. It is very strong in Latin America, Asia and Africa. No one has won the US presidency without carrying the catholic vote. It is true that many of their dictates are ignored in the west but I still don’t think that makes them “irrelevant” to enormous numbers of people throughout the world. I am not defending them at all but they still have a lot of power. There is a struggle in the catholic church and Ratzinger and the conservatives have won at least for now but it might not always be that way.
Morning Bda … won’t involve you
… absolutely gorgeous day here so will thoroughly enjoy trick-treating with grandkids tonight … the two year old is going as an ice cream cone … do you take part in this pagan ritual?
@Buddha Is Laughing – stop deflecting my original point, crying buddha. This is about Turley, not you. And Turley should be ashamed of himself, when he reflects on the thought that a Catholic judge, Andrew Napolitano, recommended Turley as a viable Supreme Court judge. Yes, Turley should be ashamed, and needs to apologize.
(and to another poster who thinks my use of “@” is unique – you need to get out more often.)
Morning Ms. Bluoise
bammbamm:
“You’re all just proving my case with your animosity.”
*********************
No there bammbamm you misconstrue. I think stupidity should be shot–especially that religious strain. Reason’s a pretty fair weapon for it, too.
No animosity to you, you’re just a dope… er… dupe.
I really didn’t want to get involved but if you look back at a few other previous posters who used @ symbol in the manner that Bam Bam is. I had a suspicion the other day that the poster who went by Gerty, 30%er, Jacob Marley, now Bam Bam has began posting again.
I see you took my advice to go away and change the way you post.
Old habits are hard to die.
Nice try.
What’s the matter? Looking for proof of your ridiculous assertion that anyone here has called for Vorbis’ death? Looking for something you can conflate to present as proof of your ridiculous assertion? Pedophiles got your tongue, bammbamm? Or is it that pesky lack of facts you’re dealing with? Both?
I suspect “both”.
Prove where I said Vorbis should be shot.
With a quote.
Otherwise, you’re just another full of shit RCC apologist who is again inserting false premises into others statements as a rationalization of your defense of an indefensible organization.
My animosity for the RCC organization is not based on a desire to shoot them, but rather on their historical and current bad acts.
If you can PROVE I (or the Prof) wants Vorbis shot **which you haven’t and cannot** then I’ll apologize for calling you a full of shit RCC apologist.
Don’t be holding your breath waiting for me to genuflect.
You’re all just proving my case with your animosity. You think Voris should be shot. Would you please be honest with yourselves – let’s get it over with.
