Perry Outdoes Opponents and Appears To Suggest the Re-Invasion of Iraq

Even with Ron Paul shredding Newt Gingrich as a “chickenhawk,” Rick Perry outdid a field of candidates who appear to be running on promises to invade or bomb other countries. However Perry is the only guy who is not only eager to start another war but willing to restart a prior war. Top that Newt.

Perry proclaimed that he would not “allow the Iranians to come back into Iraq and take over that country.” Perry added that our premature departure is due to Obama’s “kowtow[ing] to his liberal, leftist base and move out those men and women.” His aides were quick to take issue with the re-invade spin of critics, insisting that “Perry wants to establish a strategic presence in Iraq like we have in hot spots around the world. That’s not an invasion, that’s common sense.” Unfortunately, the campaign is correct. That is indeed an example of the common sense of the GOP candidates in this primary.

The reason of the confusion as to Perry’s suggestion is that the Iraqis demanded that we leave their country and refused efforts of the Obama Administration to stay. The citizens, or at least the government, of a country generally has a say as to whether we place large numbers of troops in their country. Otherwise, it is an involuntary act commonly called an invasion. In fairness to Perry, I do not think he was suggesting a re-invasion. However, the statement is shocking for many Americans who oppose the war and its costs to our nation. It is the very embodiment of the American unilateralism criticized both here and abroad where the wishes and rights of other countries seem virtually immaterial to the creation and implementation of policy.

For those who found Bush simply too intellectual, Perry appears your man. He added his view of the new found ability of Iranians to act outside of the limitations of conventional physics, noting “We’re going to see Iran in my opinion, move back in at literally the speed of light.” We will obviously have to stay until Iraqis evolve into a faster form of life but Perry is on record questioning the basis for evolution.

  1. Gene,

I’m with Elaine. Since the assumption is that we begin with a whole wit. Otherwise we could not have a half wit. That would be division by 2. If then; we add to the mix another 1/2 wit; because his addition is consecutive rather than concurrent with the first halfwit; it compounds the halfwit division and we wind up with a quarter wit.

If both of our halfwits were in operation at the same time the wit-value would decrease exponentially due to the repetative, combined effect of dual halfwit actions thereby leaving us with something like a .03125 which translates to a three-thousand one-hundred twenty five ten-thousanths of a wit which of course would be much worse.

Or perhaps not as at that wit value the two half wits would probably be vegitative and could easily be wheeled out.

But I wouldn’t count on it. Seems several of the nominees are already below that level yet they keep on hating. Hate’s a powerful mover of fractional-wits I guess

  2. Which one of those yahoos wants to hurry on the “second coming” of Jesus by fulfilling the prophesies?

  3. Now….Now…If only the military complex could be bigger and stronger then everyone could have a job…..But then again….it did not work out so well for Germany…..or did it….

  4. Gene & rafflaw,

I think you are being generous as to the amount of gray matter these two fellas from Texas have. I’d say they’re quarter-wits.

  5. Gene,
one half wit from Texas started the war in Iraq on a lie. If a second half wit from Texas tries to reignite the war in Iraq, would he/they be considered a full wit?

  6. Ron Paul is the closest to being an honest adult but his domestic policies are as scary as everyone else’s foreign policy. Obama is worse that Bush in that he continued all of Bush’s anti-civil liberties policies and added a few more of his own and we’re in more wars than when Bush was prez.

Perhaps you saw the announcement that Japan will now place a maximum 40 year life for their nuke power plants. Granted, that’s not as strong a response as Germany eschewing nuke power altogether, but it’s at least a recognition that all is not right in the mutant vegetable patch.
    ================================================
The GOP warmonger corp GE built those units, taught the Japanese how to do spin, and other forms of cover up.

Perry would be a ten, on a scale of “terrible” being 1, “mutant terrible” being 10, I suppose.

I mean, he would advocate nuking the tsunami declaring, like Ann Coulter, “radiation is good for us, it is like fertilizer because it makes bigger vegetables.”

Hell, he might want to nuke Hiroshima again, after re-invading Iraq.

  8. Ah yes, the stab in the back meme has started. Soon you will hear how great things were when Boy Blunder was in charge. Then that nasty community organizer took over & things went to hell. We coulda won it I tells ya!

This is a modern variation on the Dolchstoßlegende mythology the right has successful pushed on our Viet Nam disaster.

  9. Perry’s was not even the most outrageous comment:

    Here is Mitt Romney:

I find it amazing that we have troops in harm’s way around the world – in Afghanistan right now, in Iraq the first three years of this president’s term. [snip] I find it extraordinary that a very few number of families are paying the price of freedom in America.

If I remember correctly, he missed the Vietnam war by going on a “missionary trip” and sat out the war by staying in a palace in France.

Come to think of it, he has five healthy sons, so what are they doing to help win the wars in the middle east?

It’s remarkable how we can show our support for our nation, and one of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping to get me elected, because they think I’d be a great president. My son, Josh, bought the family Winnebago and has visited 99 counties, most of them with his three kids and his wife. And I respect that and respect all of those in the way they serve this great country.

Now lessee, we have some bloggers on this site who have kids in harm’s way in the middle east. But driving a brightly painted Winnebago around the country with the wife and grandkids with them is so much more courageous than driving a Humvee or Abrams tank around IED infested Afghanistan.

  10. It worked out so well the first time when a half-wit from Texas tried it, he figured what the heck.

  11. The craziest thing about Perry’s remarks was when he said of the Iranians, “They’ll move back into Iraq literally at the speed of light.”

The idea of Iran as Star Trek villains is pretty awesome, but not something around which to build a presidential campaign.

  13. I would like to get their views on nuclear power. Japan is having an outbreak of mutant vegetables around Tokyo and elsewhere following Fukushima.

    see eneNEWS and Fukushima Diary

Most pols tend to support unsafe nuclear practices.

  14. Hey! It worked so well the first time! Plus it would give the Perry Pentagon a staging area from which to launch its attacks against Iran.

Why be just a little crazy when you can go full bore.
