Seventy-Year-Old Saudi Man Marries 15-Year-Old Girl [Updated]

150px-muslim_woman_in_yemenSaudi Arabia has another case of a pedophilia dressed up as marriage. In the latest case, a 70-year-old man paid a family $17,500 in a dowry to purchase a 15-year-old girl as a bride. The girl proceeded to lock herself in the bedroom for two days in fear on their wedding night and then fled home to her family. The groom is now demanding that the girl be handed over to him or to get a refund from the family. [Update: a divorce has been issued in the “marriage” and the articles now report the man as 70 years old rather than 90 years old]

I realize that dowry traditions have long existed but they often appear little more than selling off your young daughter, in this case to a pedophile. How the family can claim to love his child and sell her off to a 70-year-old is hard to square.

The girl locked herself away on the first night after being legally married in the Kingdom where many clerics believe that young girls who are seven or eight are subject to marriage as consistent with the Koran. Some deny any age limit. It is hard for reformers to get much change when Mohammad is believed to have marriage 6-year-old Aisha and consummated the marriage when she was 9.

    1. AKA Grumpy Jon,

When we saw it before some of those here said that the ones bearing out 4 gowns were either choosy, or has 4 four guys waiting, or needed something to sell to feed her children of many colors.

Does this equal the income of business which many ads in the paper would bring in? You can milk “newsworthy events” a long time. Do we have a federal subsidy for this, or is it part of the Feds general trickle down and keep’em happy policy?

Hope I missed you, just sour after my nap.

  1. One small step for an old man, one small step for mankind. If a dowerry is acceptable in the United States then why not in Saudi Arabia? We do have dowerys dont we? Daddy just sold Suzie. Well, Floyd, your daddy needed the money.

    1. barkiin dog.

You are doing good just now.

      As to pappa and suzie:

Pappa then says, “It will stop her from constantly fingering herself. Sell’em while they are hot and not yet pregnant.”

  2. Grand Mother married my Grand father when she was 15….he was 47.

    I guess today he’d be in jail….

  3. Isn’t it time you sold your daughter to a child molester, assuming you don’t mind the prospect of your child being molested now that you can finally go out and finally buy yourself some food to eat.

So much for laws, customs and attitudes that allow the consistent commoditization of women and children…

    1. Commodenazation. Never in America?

Ask some of the ladies here with kids. They’ll tell you about stealing of children, legally and by court order. Betcha you did not know of that.

Women come with wombs, men buy them and expect to use as desired.
Kids are stolen routinely in USA. But not in Sweden. Women has to be proven really bad, or she will get the kid automaticallly.

Betcha don’t have any kids of your own.

  4. Tammy, Where did your latest tank of gas come from? Country? Saudi.

Cameron, does the powerful USA have any responsibility? We did and went to war in Afghanistan to save the women. Noble us.
Thank HW and Dubja for that we have such restricitions on our restraint re Saudi. Check it out, It is true. Can give more info if wanted.

Pete, that you dared. Don’t tease. Some are sensitive about their origins.

Sorry, OS. Forgot your Daily Kos message. No harm intended.
You make me sorry that I was not born in the hills and could speak Gaelic.

Woosty, Thanks, That was posted about a year ago, at least the other one was. Hope she is not beheaded at this point. I fear that YouTube is forbidden. Maybe she lives in another Gulf state.

Michelle, More please. Stick around. Lots of ignorant minds here on Islamic reality. Don’t mention how the Shia celebrate—-Oops. Stepped perhaps on a toe. Always doing it. Mouth starts without brain connection.

  5. Civilized….. hardly this is a country of legal sexual predators it is disgusting and disgusting to think we have a political or social ties to these people Sick sick sick

  6. From that wondeful organisation – The UN……………………..

“The UDHR: the foremost statement of the rights and freedoms of all human beings

The Declaration adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, consists of a preamble and 30 articles, setting out a broad range of fundamental human rights and freedoms to which all men and women, everywhere in the world, are entitled, without any distinction.

The Declaration was drafted by representatives of all regions and legal traditions. It has over time been accepted as a contract between governments and their peoples. Virtually all states have accepted it. The Declaration has also served as the foundation for an expanding system of human rights protection that today focuses also on vulnerable groups such as disabled persons, indigenous peoples and migrant workers.
The Most Universal Document in the World

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has been awarded the Guinness World Record for having collected, translated and disseminated the Universal Declaration of Human Rights into more than 380 languages and dialects: from Abkhaz to Zulu. The Universal Declaration is thus the most translated document – indeed, the most “universal” one in the world.”

How wonderfully helpful to this poor little girl. The UN HCR just loves to preach to western countries but when practices like this come to the fore in Islamic countries they are no where to be seen. They just like to pretend it does not happen and is not happening.

Just another lot of overpaid and gultless economic parasites that the world could well do without.

  7. oh she could just smother him in his sleep one night and not inherit? back to Mum and Dad? become a slave? prostitute?

  8. true that OS

maybe she can wait for a hot day and “accidentally” step on his balls.

and speaking of great balls afire

jerry lee lewis (a devout christian) married his (some say 13 some say 15) y/o cousin.

    it ain’t all about muslims

  9. I am wondering how that is going to work out if she is one of those young women whose motor is running constantly and she makes demands on him he cannot fulfill.

We have an old saying in the south. His alligator mouth overloaded his hummingbird a$$.

  10. Oh-marrying a young woman who has reached puberty does not make him a pedophile. That is a person who is attracted to children who have not reached physical adulthood-puberty.

  11. There are customs in Saudi that are in complete defiance of Islam. A girl in a forced marriage is one such custom. Marrying a pre- pubescent girl is another. Women’s marriage gifts going to one other than the woman. I nave to wonder about the story somewhat-90?

Technically 15 would not a pedophile make. In fact if there are not states in the US that have 15 as the age of consent it may be a recent change.
    Good point.

Here is what “the Wiki” says about that:

The ages of consent in North America for sexual activity vary by jurisdiction.

The age of consent in Canada is 16. All U.S. states set their limits between 16 and 18.

The age of consent in Mexico is complex. Typically, Mexican states have a “primary” age of consent (which may be as low as 12), and sexual conduct with persons below that age is always illegal. Sexual relations between adults and teenagers under 18 are left in a legal gray area: laws against adults “corrupting” minors may be used sometimes to punish such sexual encounters, as well as laws against engaging in sexual relations with “chaste and honest” teenage girls by means of “seduction”. These laws are situational and are subject to interpretation.

The ages of consent in the countries of Central America range from 15 to 18.

(Wikipedia). The kind of fervour these stories engender come from the deep-seated “us vs. them” cultural dynamics of humanity.

It reminds me of the fervent preacher giving a rip roaring, intense emotional sermon about going to heaven.

He had whipped his congregation into a frothing mass of emotional frenzy by repeatedly telling them how wondrous, fabulous, and fantastic heaven is and how bad by contrast hell is.

As his final touch, he implored everyone who wanted to go to heaven to stand up!

There was a sea of swaying people, all standing up with hands raised high praising and shouting …. except for one young man in the front row who did not stand, and so caught the preacher’s eye.

“DON’T YOU WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN?” the preacher thundered to the young man … as the swirly mass suddenly became so quiet one could hear a pin drop.

“Well, yes preacher I want to go to heaven, it is just that I though you were getting up a load to go right now”, the young man replied.
