As U.S. Continues To Spend Fortune In Afghanistan, Karzai Turns To China

225px-hamid_karzai_2004-06-14Afghan President Hamid Karzai has spent years denouncing the United States as we have continued to pour hundreds of billions into this country (and his corrupt family and government). Now, Karzai has called on China to come in and guarantee security in the country as he continues to call on the United States to get out. Despite these consistent attacks on the U.S. and Americans as “demons”, the Obama Administration continues to put our soldiers in harms way and spend money that is badly needed at home in this country. So, while the Administration is cutting back on FAA towers and slowing air travel, we will continue to spend wildly in a country seeking to replace us with China. Brilliant.

This week, Karzai praised China as the world’s emerging dominant superpower and largest economy. He described his country as the “graveyard of empires” which apparently is meant to include the United States. Karzai wants China to come into the country to stabilize security and wants the U.S. out, particularly after a series of operations led to high levels of civilian deaths.

Our insistence on continuing to dump money and manpower into this country is baffling. The situation is worsening on the ground and anti-American sentiments continue to be high. Yet, our own economic crisis does not cause any reexamination of these foreign operations. Neither party wants to be blamed for a failure in Afghanistan so we continue to pump money and men into operations into the country — even after reports showing huge amounts of aid disappearing into the pockets of corrupt officials.

Of course, the abuses of China’s security services and denial of basic rights matters little to Karzai. They are simply the next deep pocket for the government to seek in its reliance on foreign aid.

  1. Along with getting the hell out we should cut off all aid, ties, and immigration, let them rot.

  2. Reports have it that Karzai is also trying to make the following tune the national anthem of Afghanistan:

  3. Can you do a story on racial profiling in Connecticuts so called “Justice” system???

  5. We never should have gone to Afghanistan in the first place. The goal was the Caspian Sea pipeline for the oil companies. That goal has not been achieved.

  6. Reblogged this on euzicasa and commented:
A maneuver classical for for those parts of the world! Which proves again that one cannot save anyone from oneself!

  7. How much does the U.S. spend on Blackwater, Halliburton and the other Cheney corporations in AfghanisStan?

  8. When he visited the White House he was eating off of Corel. Why would he turn to china? Am I missing something here? He seems like a modern guy.

  9. We should have been out of Afghanistan years ago. Then again, we should have never been in Iraq and should have been in Saudi Arabia years ago too. You smell that? Smells just like graft taking precedent over statesmanship.

  10. We should leave today!
Does anybody think that this community organizer we elected as President is perhaps just a bit in over his head?
Why? Can anybody with a coherent mind (Lindsey Graham does not qualify) explain why we are still in Afghanistan?

Perhaps that begs the question “did we really go there for the reasons official spin said we did?”

    A poem to enlighten:

“Jack and Jill went up the hill
each had a dollar and a quarter
Jill came back with two and a half
do you think they went up for water?”

  12. It is where empires go to die, so true.

JT’s characterization of our continued involvement there, as baffling is such an understatement as to be tragically humorous.

Here in our country, we are going broke, we borrow 2/3’ds of what we spend in federal dollars, the national debt will soon reach the point of impossible repayment. We have people starving here, and our public money woes are the #1 concern of the American people.

We have literally nothing to gain in that country and so damn much to lose and is virtual money sink; they want us the fk out, and the American people want us the fk out.

So the pathological insistence from our supposed representative leaders that we stay there is simply institutional insanity.
Didn’t candidate Obama say one of his priorities was to get us out of there?
    Who voted for Obama again?

All I can say is WTF??

  13. We need to get out of Afghanistan now. The number of IEDs is increasing. Bomb patrols clear a road, and a week later they are back. The first coalition casualty in Afghanistan is from our community. He was killed with two others by friendly fire when a bomb went off course and hit their position.

When Darren visited here last week we went out to see where he is buried. Since Master Sgt. Donnie Davis and his two buddies were killed in 2001, there have been more than 3,100 allied deaths there so far, and counting. I doubt anyone knows for certain how many are crippled in body and mind due to this war. Osama bin Laden is dead, we have intelligence on his organization, and there is no further reason for us to be in Afghanistan. The place were empires go to die.

From Wikileaks War Logs, IED attacks are mapped from 2004-2009.

  14. I would guess that Mr.Karzai hasn’t given any thought to the fact that China might get rid of him as first order of the day.
So what do we do to get the U.S. out of that smelly hell hole?

  15. Of course US don’t want to get out. CIA, FBI and DHS need the drugs money to stage terrorist events against American people. That’s clearly obvious.
