Fatal Attraction: Oklahoma Faces Two Cases Of Men Who Allegedly Advocated Beheading Women As Justified Under Islam

Muriithi-300x300nolen-facebook-twoWe have been discussing the alarming and baffling migration of Muslim men and women from the West to join the blood-soaked Islamic State or ISIS forces as they behead and murder their way through captured territories. While the vast majority of Muslims are disgusted by ISIS, the chilling reality is that there is a large portion of people who do not just support but long to behead and torture other people. Oklahoma is facing precisely that reality in two cases involving Muslim men who appear to identify with ISIS and relish the concept of beheading people in the name of Islam. It is a fatal attraction that may explain the thousands flocking from the West to the ranks of the Islamic State.

In Oklahoma City, Jacob Mugambi Muriithi (left above), 30, is being held on a charge of a terrorism charge after he allegedly threatened to behead a co-worker. He was located less than 20 miles from where Alton Alexander Nolen (right above) who is accused of beheading a co-worker just the day before the threats were allegedly made.

AltonNolen090514FacebookPhotoNolen had only recently converted to Islam in prison but immediately took to the aspects of the religion that he viewed as justifying murder and decapitations. Writing under the name “Jah’Keem Yisrael” on his Facebook page, he wrote various incendiary and bizarre messages:

“A Future Prophecy Revelation 18:8 She (The statue Of Liberty) is going into flames. She and anybody who’s with her.”

“AMERICA SO CALL HELPS IRAQ (WHICH NOT)- WELL WHY CANT U HELP THE GAZA CITIZENS AGAINST ISRAEL…AMERICA AND ISRAEL ARE WICKED. WAKE UP MUSLIMS!!!”

“I JST WANT TO SAY AS AN MUSLIM WE DNT CELEBRATE AMERIKAS HOLIDAYS.”

“KAFIR KAFIRS MEANS SOMEONES WHO DISAGREES WITH ISLAM. JST CAUSE YOU AS-SALAAMU ALAKIUN EVERY MORNING DNT MEANS YOUR AN MUSLIM THANK YOU THO.”

“Ima Tell You Off Top Im Not Your Friend My Friends Are At The Mosque All Around The World.”

“Im an Muslim from the Tribe of Judah who Was Pretty Much Raised In Killeen Texas. My Ancestors Who Are The True Jews Here In America Today Are Originally From Israel. They Were Bombed Outta Israel By The Roman Catholic Army So They Fled To Egypt And The Afrikans Sold Us To The White Man As Slaves Along With Any Other Black Person Here In Amerika Today Aka The True Jews From Israel. Our Ancestors Are Originally From Israel. Were Not from Afrika.”

“You know what gets me about Christians is that they blaspheme saying that Jesus (pbus Ameen) is God. If Jesus (pbuh Ameen) was God why when you claim he was on a cross he quoted Quote’ Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing? With this said he can’t be the Savior. All Praise To Allah,”

In one message, he declared “Islam Will Dominate the World. Freedom Can Go To Hell.”

He had been trying to convert people at his work and was telling co-workers about how women should be stoned for committing certain offenses. After he was fired, he returned and beheaded a female co-worker and stabbed another woman. After beheading Colleen Hufford, 54, and stabbing Traci Johnson’, 43, in the attack at Vaughan Foods store, he was shot and wounded by off-duty sheriff’s deputy and company CEO Mark Vaughan.

Nolen has a long previous criminal record including assault and battery on an officer, possession of a controlled substance, and escaping from detention.

Muriithi is identified as a native of Kenya who worked at Bellevue Nursing Home in northwest Oklahoma City. He also was trying to convert people and praised Islamic State for beheading Christians. He is quoted as saying that it “is just what we do.” He allegedly told the victim that he was going to cut her head off with “a blade” and said that, after cutting off her head, he would post it on Facebook. Islamic State fighters have been using social media to parade the heads of murdered captives.

Both Muriithi and Nolen are disturbing examples of the resource of disaffected, marginal, and unhinged individuals who swell the ranks of the Islamic State. For them, religion is an excuse to vent their anger and to kill in the name of faith. It is precisely the dehumanizing elements of the ISIS beliefs that attract them — to be able to treat women and other humans as undeserving of mercy or sympathy. Religion is the not the cause but the vehicle for their violent expression.

  1. Did someone indicate there was a problem with this post? Is there controversy over this post? Maybe I missed it. Speaking for myself, this guy certainly does look like a Muslim extremist, I don’t doubt most people recognize this.

  2. Karen, Thankfully you just summed up the thoughts of the vast majority of people in the US. If only our President would attend his daily briefings he would possibly get on board as well. He attends less than half! He blamed the CIA on not assessing ISIS and they are PISSED! They are leaking info showing the info was there, Obama was golfing, fundraising, etc. The man checked out after the 2012 election.

  3. “It’s reasonable to take the Bible literally? Are you serious? ”

Where did Olly say this? I don’t see those words in his posts in this thread.

  4. Actually, the Amish do have a political side. They want the freedom to practice their religion as they see fit. They do not want the government interfering with their way of life.

They are NOT evangelical, as you pointed out, which is a different thing.

I’ve known many Amish. Do you?

  5. Amy – thanks for the link.

What I cannot understand is why is there controversy over this post? A Muslim extremist beheaded a woman here in the US, and tried to murder another. Another Muslim extremist threatened to behead female coworkers.

Muslim extremism is bad, rampant in the Middle East and spreading, and we need to fight its spread. Moderate modern Muslims are completely normal people.

    What’s the problem?

    1. They were not fine until the fall of the Shah. The Shah was a reformer. He took the sooks away from the province of the Imams, and he pissed them off. The Imams made a concerted effort to get him out and RE-take control of Iran. They contributed to the propaganda that fooled Carter et al into believing he was a threat. And Sharia Law has always abused human rights. A member of my own family personally witnessed the beheading of 2 gay men. He was also there for the fall of the Shah.

And prior to this, the various tribes were held under an iron fist by the Ottoman Empire. The various Crusades crushed the most massive Muslim expansion, but even after the last one ended, Christians were kidnapped and enslaved by Muslims.

This is just the most recent attempt at extremist Muslim expansion, and if we ignore this it will just be harder to stop later.

Karen – read this again – This must stop. It is about Terrorism. not Muslims. They were fine until the CIA started messing with them in Iran during the Shah’s time. That would indicate the Shah was all good. They were happy for 250 years. Do you like to hear yourself talk? Each culture has it’s own way of advancing and Wilsonian Neoliberals cannot change a culture with their Americanized Ideas. You cannot force that down their throat. Look what happened. I know people all over the world that are Islamic Sunni and Shia alike. The only difference between the two is the Sunni have a bloodline go to Mohammad for the new Caliph and the Shia can elect him with some differeing practices just like in Christian and Jewish Faiths.

Are you pretending that Western Civilization was devoid of blood and prejudice against children black slaves and women and killing off witches and inquisitions within the Catholic Church in it’s development. Because if you are going to go all the way back to the Ottoman empire and treat me like I am ignorant, I am going to bring this up because I am sick of the West sweeping their dirt under the rug.

      1. happypappies – you have heard of the conquests of Mohammed, of his successors, of the Ottoman Empire, etc. You seem to be forgetting some large parts of history.

  6. The Amish are not political and do not wish to legislate their belief system onto non believers. Their belief system isn’t evangelical in addition to being fundamentalist. HUGE distinction.

    1. Annie

He looks like someone who wants attention and he is getting it

    2. I am so sick of these types. They don’t have to be Muslims. They are just in vogue now

  7. ISIS = Israel? Really?

Why is it so difficult for some people to disconnect human nature from the evil in the world? Humans have been killing others in the name of “____________” since the dawn of Man. The radicalization of ANY belief has lead and will continue to lead people to commit the most outrageous crimes. Weather Underground anyone?

  8. Olly,
It’s reasonable to take the Bible literally? Are you serious? If that is how you feel then your brand of Christianity begins to look far closer to Islam and those old timey punishments like stoning, eye plucking and hand chopping. Let us take every single word in the Bible as being Divinely inspired and worthy of following to the letter? IF that is what you meant by me being unreasonable in my second comment, just what is unreasonable about my comment? You seem to disagree with it, spell out what is unreasonable with it.

  9. “Since when is threatening someone “terrorism”, as opposed to assault or criminal threatening? We need to put the concept of terrorism back in the box from which it escaped.”

Just my personal, not legal opinion. Terrorism would be when you are threatening violence against someone with the clear intention to make them comply with your religious or political agenda or die. Terrorism uses examples of death, beheading, and destruction to frighten people into submission. Convert to Islam or have your head cut off. Scaring people by horrific example. Trying to teach a lesson. Timothy McVeigh for example

Criminal threatening is for no religious or political purpose. For example: I’m going to cut your head off because I hate you. You personally. Not you as a representative of a group, religious entity or race or political group. Just YOU. No objective. No aim to force others to a political or religious position. Just because I can and I want to. Ted Bundy for example.

Of course there is always going to be a muddled line between terrorism as an ideology and just plain criminality.

  10. I have to laugh when people bring up Old Testament quotes from 2,000 years ago. When’s the last time Christians stoned anyone?

The Amish are Christian fundamentalists. So, no, being fundamentalist does not equate with violence. If they dislike someone’s actions, they stop speaking to them, “shunning” them out of the community. How is that remotely similar to stoning rape victims? When does “not talking to me” become equivalent with Female Genital Mutilation or murdering gay people?

Again, by lumping in Muslim extremists as “just as bad” as Christians, they diffuse the very serious threat of Muslim extremist expansion. They keep denying that this is a SPECIFIC problem that needs to be addressed all on its own.

    1. I have to laugh when people bring up Old Testament quotes from 2,000 years ago. When’s the last time Christians stoned anyone? Karen – seriously? CUFI is reinventing the Bible as we speak in order to Bomb Iran. To justify stopping what we caused in the first place by our interference. Reverend Hagee is Raving about Blood Moons and so forth and screeching Old Testament Prophesy. We all hear it here. Do you think we are stupid? Your comment earlier – “But do you see the problem if the Qu’ran was actually written by Allah, omniscient and to whom time has no meaning? There can be no “they are from a different time” argument, as there is with the Bible.”

You actually think you are Christian in your thoughts no doubt. did you know Christ said to Love your Enemys. He meant Muslims too.

  11. Happy:

“All religious texts are instructive on violence. They are from a different time.”

    Well, except Buddhism.

But do you see the problem if the Qu’ran was actually written by Allah, omniscient and to whom time has no meaning? There can be no “they are from a different time” argument, as there is with the Bible.

  12. Jim22,
I actually thought her first post demonstrated she had developed some reason and then came her second post to prove that thought wrong.

  13. Contrast this with Christianity, which has many denominations born out of a spirit of reform. If anyone believes they have a better way, they just start their own Church. And the Jewish faith, too, has its spectrum from Orthodox Jews to moderate.

If you’re a gay Christian, there is a church for you. If a woman wants to be a pastor, there is a church for you. Don’t like your own church’s rules, but still consider yourself Christian? Start your own. That’s what freedom OF religion is all about. Feel Christianity has strayed too far from the Bible? There’s the Amish, the Mennonites, and other fundamentalist groups for you.

Don’t believe in God or not sure? You’re free to be an atheist or agnostic.

If you’re a gay Muslim, thank Allah you don’t live in the Middle East. Here in the West, you can be on Shahs of Sunset and be beloved.

Perhaps the West will also be a place of reform for Islam.

    1. Karen please lets not stray. There is no problem with a religion that Prince Siddhartha started because he did not believe in God but the abandonment of desire –

“But do you see the problem if the Qu’ran was actually written by Allah” – no Karen – why – because I am tired of the Neocons twisting around the fact that Allah is God Almighty in Arab. They think Jesus was wafted up off the Cross by angels. That is also in the Koran. They do not believe in the divinity of Jesus.

This must stop. It is about Terrorism. not Muslims. They were fine until the CIA started messing with them in Iran during the Shah’s time.

As far as the USA goes I think Galatians 6:7 applies 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

  14. All religious texts are instructive on violence. They are from a different time. It is up to us from the current time to get past that. Jesus, the revolutionary, was supposed to teach that – Son of God or not. “Love your Enemy” Who here can do that.

  15. “After beheading Colleen Hufford, 54, and stabbing Traci Johnson’, 43, in the attack at Vaughan Foods store, he was shot and wounded by off-duty sheriff’s deputy and company CEO Mark Vaughan.”

Thank goodness the CEO was armed, and thank goodness for the 2nd Amendment, or Traci Johnson’s head would have been on the ground, too, along with who knows how many others.

Islam was created as a warrior religion, and was expansionist in nature. The reason for that lovely Moorish architecture in Portugal and Spain is that Muslims conquered that part of Europe before the Crusades beat them back. The Middle East used to be a dominant Christian region before the Muslim Expansion. The problem today is that, unlike the Torah or the Bible, the Qu’ran is believed to have been written by the actual hand of Allah. There can be no revisions, no New Testament. So those Sword Verses, and their abrogation, as well as the practice of Teqiyya, or lying to non-Muslims to further Islam, combine to make it ripe for terrorism and the abuse of human rights.

I agree with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, creator of Honor Diaries, that Islam needs to be reformed. This is a wildly unpopular idea in the Middle East. And yet, in a sense, many moderate Muslims who live here in the US, obeying our laws and practicing their religion in peace, are reformers. They do not follow Sharia Law. They do not drown their daughters if they date. They do not believe apostates should die. Those are all essentially reforms in Islam. They practice only the positive aspects of their faith, and there are many good attributes of Islam. They view the Sword Verses as merely figurative. But whether they will acknowledge it or not, they are living a reformed Islam that is very different than that practiced in any Muslim country in the Middle East that follows Sharia Law.

Unfortunately, not all Muslims living here are moderate. A surprisingly high number of them polled believe that apostates should be killed, and that Sharia Law should be imposed here in the US.

It would be foolish to ignore these facts out a fear of Islamaphobia. There are moderate Muslims, and extremist Muslims, living here in America, as this article so tragically proves.
