Afghan Mob Burns Woman Alive For Burning A Copy Of The Koran in Kabul [UPDATED]

220px-Mosque_of_the_King_of_Two_SwordsWe have another story of a Muslim mob murdering a person for offending Islam. A woman named Farkhunda, 32, in Kabul had reportedly burned a copy of the Koran inside a riverside shrine. She was then set upon by a huge mob that burned her alive and then threw her into the Kabul river. This was deemed the moral response to an immoral act by the crowd. [Update: It turns out that the accusations against Farkhunda may be untrue and that she was actually defending what she viewed as the degrading act of selling amulets in a mosque when she was attacked]

Four people have been arrested by the crowd watching and encouraging this despicable act was so large that they broke the railing of the shrine itself in pushing forward for a better look.

The murder occurred in the very capital of Afghanistan at the Shah-Do Shamshira mosque.

  1. Inga,
“Do you condone Scott Lively going to African countries and promoting laws that would put gay people to death? Why don’t you as a moderate Christian speak out against this? Double standard?”

Holy cow!!! As a moderate Christian, I claim ignorance. Wow. That’s terrible! I had to look this guy up because I’d never heard of him.

From what I understand, the third commandment “You must not misuse the name of the LORD your God. The LORD will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name” has more to do with doing evil in God’s name than saying “G-d, d***-it” or something like that.

This man is definitely mis-using God’s name. 🙁

  2. Happy, don’t believe (and quote) everything you read.
The Bush administration actually tried to force a coup against Hamas after it was legitimately elected to power in Gaza…after forcing those same elections on Hamas in order to take control out of its hands.

Secondly, if Israel itself is negotiating with Hamas, why can’t we?

You know who created Hamas in order to split up the Palestinians? Yes, Israel.

    1. Po says don’t believe everything I read ( I never do – I do lots and lots of research Po) I am aware of Bushes giving too much power to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood to appease them and then to make a Coup to strong arm them back. I know this. It is because Israel is our Ally. You know this also. I left you a link that advised you that is was a sad situation and did not leave us looking like heros so I don’t understand why I am not supposed to believe what I read about Hamas and Erdogan

That’s too funny really-Ken Rogers your Personality keeps Changing what is your deal?? Ken Rogers Sir – I am quite sure you did not read my link because both you and Po discount my intelligence which is a mistake. Just because I share true spiritual ecperiences I have with people In my State which is more than 1/2 black and for FYI Inga and Mespos’s State has almost all Lily White people int it. They wouldn’t know how to act in a black area. It is laughable to listen to them call me racist when they are clueless.

Yet, instead of trying to rein in Erdogan and turn him into a useful citizen, the Obama White House gave him too much rope and then crudely pushed him out of the nest. For instance, in 2010 the administration tasked Turkey, along with Brazil, to make a deal with Iran over its nuclear weapons program. The White House criticized the agreement Ankara brokered, largely because it allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium. It’s worth noting that four years later the Obama Administration has not only allowed Iran to continue enriching, but has acknowledged its right to do so.

Perhaps most significant, the White House handed its Syria policy to Erdogan when the 2011 uprising against Bashar al-Assad erupted. The problem was not only that Turkey proved incapable of projecting soft power that the Obama Administration had counted on, but also that Erdogan had neutered his own military through the Ergenekon campaign. As Erdogan proved incapable of stopping Assad’s killing machine, either through words or force, a refugee crisis swelled within Turkey’s borders, where terrorists from the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra crossed paths with Assad forces who waged terrorist operations killing Turkish citizens.

So, why shouldn’t Ankara back Hamas? Nothing else Erdogan does is working, and it’s good public relations in a region where it’s always a crowd-pleaser to target the Jews. Besides, the White House has implicitly endorsed Hamas as a legitimate interlocutor. First, the administration signed off on the unity deal that brought Hamas into the Palestinian Authority. And then even after Hamas’ Turkish cell (directed by Arouri) on the West Bank crashed the unity government with the kidnappings and murders, the administration still never batted an eye.

And why should the United States be upset? After all, its point-man on the peace process Martin Indyk had just cashed a $15 million check from Qatar, Hamas’ main financial backer. Sure, the check was written out to the Brookings Institution, but if the White House didn’t care that its own diplomats were taking money from the main sponsors of Hamas—mortal enemy of both Israel and the PA—why should Erdogan be worried about providing sanctuary to Hamas commanders? The Obama Administration’s treatment of Israel—especially its public flogging of Netanyahu—is all the evidence Erdogan needs that Obama will never exact a cost for hosting Hamas officials who plan terror attacks.

By allowing Erdogan to support terror plots against a U.S. ally and write a seemingly endless series of regional bad checks on America’s account, the administration didn’t simply decide to overlook Erdogan’s bad behavior—they endorsed it. Turkey’s mess is simply a reflection of the 20-year mess that is American Middle East policy

So Po, where do you live that you think you should be able to attack these people? 😉 why don’t you share that information

  3. @ Sandi Hemming

“The doers, the watchers, just another day in Evil Land.”

Sandi, what’s your comment on *these* doers?

“Returning to their Bethlehem home in August, the Ghayatha family was attacked by settlers who hurled a firebomb at their taxi. Ayman Ghayatha, his wife, their three children, and the taxi driver were all severely injured. ‘The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms yesterday’s attack on a Palestinian taxi in the West Bank,’ said State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland. Subsequently, violent attacks by Jewish settlers against ‘Palestinian residents, property and places of worship’ were cited for the first time in the US State Department Country Report on Terrorism as ‘terrorist incidents.’

    1. Ken Rogers – What is the Purpose of the Obama Administration regarding Turkey – Erdogan and Hamas – and does he even know as it’s good public relations in a region where it’s always a crowd-pleaser to target the Jews.

      1. @ Happypappies

I can’t perceive the connection between your post to me and the firebombing by Israeli settlers of a Palestinian family trapped inside a taxi.

        Help me make the connection.

  4. Farkhunda was a sacrifice , Iran intelligence service wanted to create a big protest in Kabul Afghanistan to destroy Afghanistan. Why didn’t the interior ministry order safety for Farkhunda.

  5. @ Aridog

“That said, I’d agree we should not intentionally mess with other countries who are not a direct threat. Afghanistan would be an exception due to the direct threat, but our “enclave” straegy will leave it like the Russians did before us.”

I’m glad we agree that the USG shouldn’t “mess with other countries who are not a direct threat.” That would be in keeping with international law and the Nuremberg principle that the supreme crime is “aggressive war.”

Leaving aside for a moment the ungodly pain and suffering inflicted on the Afghan people by the Soviet and US governments, what do you make of the facts that:
    1) Osama bin Laden publicly denied that he’d planned and/or orchestrated the attacks of 9/11;
    2) The Taliban offered to turn him over to the USG if they would provide evidence of his responsibility for 9/11, which offer Bush imperiously rejected out of hand; and
    3) When the FBI was asked why bin Laden wasn’t on their 9/11 “Most Wanted” list, FBI spokesman Rex Tomb said, “The reason why 9/11 is not mentioned on Usama Bin Laden’s Most Wanted page is because the FBI has no hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11.”

  6. Ken Rogers surmised …

Here’s a thought: how about not invading other people’s countries, and that will preclude their becoming insurgents?

Wait…did we invade Syria … the original home of ISIS? Are we planning to invade Tunsia? Nigeria?

That said, I’d agree we should not intentionally mess with other countries who are not a direct threat. Afghanistan would be an exception due to the direct threat, but our “enclave” straegy will leave it like the Russians did before us. But we do that messing around regularly, even under this administration. Places like Egypt and Libya did NOT need our interference politically nor propaganda wise. The vaunted “Arab Spring” so sweetly embraced by our POTUS turned out rather badly. Today it is NOT who we invade (we barely have the forces to defend Boston & New York simultaneously…and neither one without Haliburton-KBR et al…which do not qualify as “industrial” but more like service parasites. THAT was the first error in the 2003 Iraq war…within 3 weeks we hustled hundreds of contracted civilian bureaucrats in to the fray. Members of my Army organization were there and witnessed it first hand.

I realize that this would cut into the profits of the Military-Industrial Complex, but it would have the advantage of saving American and insurgents’ lives and limbs.

The M-IC has substantially compressed in to fewer companies since Eisenhower made that warning. It is now more like the Military Bureaucrat-Service Contractor Complex. We are so out of touch with the Iraq we left that the Tikrit assault caught us by surprise and sent Gen Dempsey hustling over there to check it out. Surprise surprise…the Madhi Army (Shiite) of Muqtada, al Sadr, proxy progeny of Iran, with direct boots on the ground assistance from the al Quds force, are now in control it seems. Whoopsie.

  7. mespo, ” That’s quite the cut to the quick and through that smarmy, smug, hipster veneer our crude little Squeeky girds herself with in each comment.” I guess they attempt to dress up the racism and homophobia in order to try to appeal to the younger generation. Don’t think it is working well with the majority but there are always a few that are attracted to the klan and stormfront. James O’ Keefe is another one of these young bigots. They do seem to be a particularly disturbed lot.

  8. “As a translation, Squeeky, that makes a singularly bilious, semi-coherent, semi-hysterical and wildly inaccurate rant.”

Ouch! That’s quite the cut to the quick and through that smarmy, smug, hipster veneer our crude little Squeeky girds herself with in each comment. Troll busting worthy of a former little green man who roamed these cyber fields some time ago. Bravo, Ken, bravo.

Hey, just saw this semi-literate comment from the one who won’t argue substantively anymore. I take great pride in being called out by the East German judge mimicking a dead, broadcasting blowhard. The blowhard part comes easy for him. LOL

  10. Reblogged this on MANY PROPHETIC CLUES WARN US – THIS WORLD'S FINAL 3.5 YEARS ARE FROM JUNE 2016 TO DECEMBER 2019 and commented:
We Americans live in a fantasy world in which we assume that most foreign cultures have the same opinions and standards that we do… but in reality events like this fatal act of mob justice show what the masses think is normal and acceptable in other parts of the world – parts that won’t be conforming to Western norms of behavior anytime soon.

    1. @ David Montaigne

“…events like this fatal act of mob justice show what the masses think is normal and acceptable in other parts of the world – parts that won’t be conforming to Western norms of behavior anytime soon.”

You seem to have missed the part about the arrest of four suspects by the Kabul police. They, apparently, didn’t think the murder was “normal and acceptable.”

People in other cultures aren’t the only ones who can be ethnocentric.

  11. Wow,

    Look at this,

    Everyone is here.

    And has no self control

I am out of here and going some where to do the Lords Work as the Week after next is Palm Sunday.

Yes I, had a weird experience at the House of Prayer tonight. I knew something was wrong with one of their Elders right away. They do anoint with Oil and aren’t weird about healing but give sensible advise kind of homeopathic and promise to give it all to God as the Glory. Anyway, this Elder started talking about how restaurant service wasn’t the same and people weren’t the same. Then he turned to the old blind Apostle who started the House of Prayer (These People are Black) and asked her to bless him because some thing was wrong and he did not know what it was. Well, She did. And, it left, what ever it was.

Now, I don’t know what went on in your Churches but we were rocking out with these people. And we are the Frozen Chosen White Bread Presbyterians breaking down a barrier. All I ever hear on this blog is stuff about some of the most generous people I know about our hoods are slipping and how prejudiced we are and I know that isn’t’ true. That is not the same thing as allowing thuggery free rein just because people are black. They need to be punished for their deeds just like white people do. And are.

  12. I’m pretty sure that not everyone here will find this as funny as I do, but Friedman is so incredibly goofy and it’s so hard to sort out the “good guys” and the “bad guys” in the ME, and when you put the two together, it’s comedy gold. Be sure to click on the link to Friedman’s infamous “Suck.On.This.” interview by Charlie Rose, as it could easily have been done by Lord P HaW.

NYT’s Thomas Friedman Calls for Arming ISIS
    By Charles Pierce, Esquire
    20 March 15

“One of the real conundrums about the violence in the Middle East runs like this: ISIS is a very bad bunch. Syria is run by Assad, who also is very bad. ISIS is opposed to Iran, and vice versa, and Iran, in the stalactite-thick caverns of Tom Cotton’s mind, is Nazi Germany with head scarves instead of armbands. What is a superpower to do when the enemy of my enemy is also, well, my enemy?

“Let’s ask Tom Friedman of The New York Times. First, though, let me lay in some canned goods and see if the short-wave in the root cellar is still working.

” ‘O.K., so we learn to live with Iran on the edge of a bomb, but shouldn’t we at least bomb the Islamic State to smithereens and help destroy this head-chopping menace? Now I despise ISIS as much as anyone, but let me just toss out a different question: Should we be arming ISIS?’

    “Good god.

” ‘ Or let me ask that differently: Why are we, for the third time since 9/11, fighting a war on behalf of Iran?’

“Oh, really? Well, I just happen to have Tom Friedman [on that] right here. [See link]

“What say we come back inside the box for a while?”

Calling a Spade, a Spade: Israel Employs Nazi 1944 Warsaw Uprising Tactics on Gaza
    by Russ Winter

See the photos and videos at the link.

“In 1944 as Soviet armies stood by watching, Nazi Germany completely wrecked Warsaw, Poland, in a effort to crush a Polish insurrection. The strategy was to reduce the city to rubble so as to eliminate the resistance’s shelter, refuge or hiding places. Evidence is rapidly building that Israelis are embarked on a similar campaign in Gaza. Over one million civilians were in high density areas of Warsaw as are over one million civilian today in high density Gaza. This one-hour time-lapse footage shows Israeli gunners taking down an entire city sector in only one hour.”

“Palestinian ‘insurgent terrorist’ [See photo at link] takes on Israeli Defense (an oxymoron) Forces. These are the same ‘terrorists’ Israel is killing in its shelling of U.N. school shelters — the 7th on Sunday. [See photo at link]

“Illustrating just how sick, warped and shameful [many, not all] Israeli Zionists have become as a people, the website ‘Walla!’ published talk back comments on an article about the four children killed on the Gaza beach. Americans, as a people, need to look long and hard at how we are enabling this conduct.

“’Even Hitler was a child,’ reads graffiti currently sprayed near the entrance to Netivot, Israel.

“Shani Moyal: ‘I couldn’t care less that Arab children were killed, too bad it wasn’t more. Well done to the IDF.’

“Stav Sabah: ‘Really, these are great pictures [of dead children]. They make me so happy, I want to look at them again and again.’

“Sharon Avishi: ‘Only four [dead children shot on beach]? Too bad. We hoped for more.’

“Daniela Turgeman: ‘Great. We need to kill all the children.’

“Chaya Hatnovich: ‘There isn’t a more beautiful picture than those of dead Arab children.’

    “Orna Peretz: ‘Why only four?’

“Rachel Cohen: ‘I’m not for children dying in Gaza. I’m for everyone burning.’

“Tami Mashan: ‘As many children as possible should die.’ ”

We need to understand group dynamics and authoritarianism a whole lot better than we do. That way, people who are not given to violence but who will engage in it in a group setting, may be able to stop themselves and others from falling into the black hole of mob violence.

Good point. It mirrors what “anarmyoffcer” said earlier. I often wonder if we can ever understand the dynamics of insurgency from our position in the USA. Those of us who’ve been there, done that, can attest to that failing.
