A French prosecutor has issued a statement that the co-pilot of Germanwings 9525, Andreas Lubitz, 28, locked out the pilot of the plane and then intentionally crashed the plane in the French Alps. The conclusion adds a new horrific detail to an already horrific crash. It was not an accident according to a review of the record from the black box found at the crash site.
The cockpit voice recorder revealed the pilot politely knocking to be allowed back into the cockpit and then frantically banging on the door as Lubitz directed the plane into the ground. Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said that Lubitz “wanted to destroy this plane.” He killed 150 passengers and crew, who can be heard in the background screaming in terror. New reports indicate that there may have been issues in the past with regard to depression.
Germanwings, a low-budget carrier operated by Lufthansa, will likely face litigation over the crash and this adds a new issue. Companies will often offer a “rogue employee” defense of an employee acting outside the scope of their employment or clearly against the rules and wishes of the employer. This would clearly appear to fit since this is a senseless criminal act. However, there will remain the question of whether the airline had any indication or should have uncovered the type of mental imbalance that would lead to such an suicidal and murderous act.

Thanks Paul. I was venting a little… This accident- or whatever it ends up being- haunts me.

Again with self awareness on this blog. Louis Head has a right to yell nearly anything he wants in this country. If D.S. “stands up for peoples rights” like you claim he would discount the emotions of the situation and understand the threat of prosecuting Head was class based and racially motivated. Obama says he “will do anything in his power to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.” Under international law, this is illegal. Any mention of that actual illegal speech??? No, don’t hurt our America. Get those thugs in Ferguson.
The ferguson story actually exploits this blog. The emotions have overtaken Ferguson discussion on here to the point that you just called me a bully and told me to shut up.
I was just in Ferguson a couple months ago, not much of the town was burned down. Again when going for the facts, lessen the emotion – it clouds judgments.
TJustice
You are a bully on this blog. Free Speech does not give one the right to smear people like they are no accounts that write the blog. This is not your blog. If you don’t like it, feel free to find one you do. Louis Head had no right to incite a riot by improper speech screaming several times “Burn the B!tch down”
Inciting a riot is not freedom of speech. Be real. It is thuggery. People should be prosecuted for such behavior. I don’t care what color his freaking skin is. He and you are using that race card for an excuse and it is very old.
So, you are one of the rubberneckers that went through Ferguson to assess the damage and you feel it it “not too bad”
That’s real American of you. I am glad that you feel free to give Mr. Head the right to incite a riot because his new step son is a thief and a stoned thug.
And what about the fact that his Mother smacked his Grandmother around for telling Lesley McFadden not to sell those copy written tee shirts. That was more thievery of the Head and McFaddens.
I guess the apple does not fall far from the tree.
Never mind.
Obama says he “will do anything in his power to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.” Under international law, this is illegal. Any mention of that actual illegal speech??? No, don’t hurt our America. Get those thugs in Ferguson.
????????????
wtf
Obama told Jay Nixon the Governor of Missouri to hold back the National Guard after Head Made his little screamy statement.
This is America TJustice. Where are you at anyway? In Tehran?
I’m surprised to read so much speculation regarding the copilot’s religion (or lack of). In my own sudo-qualified view it doesn’t seem like faith played a role of any kind in this awful, horrific tragedy.
Guess+ sudo-qualification: Murder suicide (my little brother and two of his friends were killed by a woman trying to commit suicide) maybe. Medical issue (my older brother died of a heart attack at the age of 21) maybe.
Stuart – I think we are weeks or months before we get a real picture of what happened.
Just thought I would add this to the conversation.

So now you’re a rabbit.
OK, then.

“You have Darren so wrong it’s ridiculous. He defends people that are like you but because he used to be a Cop you have issues. Get over it.”
Since you and Darren don’t know me, I’m not sure how you can assert that he defends people like me.
D.S. before knowing the facts calls for condemnation of this person. While this was certainly a tragedy and poor decision by the co-pilot it is not without legitimate warning signs. Just like 9/11. There are reasons why these things happen. Getting angry and putting people in cages all the time is the answer I see D.S. list constantly. This just exacerbates the problem most of the time.
I have no qualms about him being a cop, it’s a job and profession.
TJustice
Darren Smith sticks up for peoples rights. What you are too stupid to see because you are a bully is that he does not put people in cages and lock them. Where you got the idea he did something like that as highly intelligent as he is idk. He sticks ups for African Americans, unless they are thugs that Obama unleashed in Ferguson because he would not let Jay Nixon call the National Guard down even though he very well knew before any of us that their was no hands up don’t shoot. I was going around this blog freaking out feeling sorry for Michael Brown until after the Grand Jury Statement which Holder and Obama already knew about and then Louis Head was allowed to “Be emotional” and say about my home town “Lets burn the b!tch down” and so they did. Now, you think Darren is supposed to approve of that and of Mayor Slay turning off the Web Cams in August because we are supposed to expect a “little violence” in the streets of St Louis?
Shut up with that noise if you call that justice

Wrench from context much, William?
Why on earth would you want to leave out the rest of the sentence?
“I’ve been told what you say a lot over the years, mostly by people with a strong authoritarian impulse who didn’t cotton to having their failings called attention to.”
If I’m like the Energizer Bunny, William, you’re acting more and more like Yosemite Sam.

It’s amazing how therapeutic a big belly laugh feels. Thanks, Wademan.
With your sense of humor, if you haven’t read it, you might enjoy Sqeaky’s SNL skit over on the Gay Death Law thread. It’s near the bottom.
Nick, you can take over my blog anytime! You crack me up. Never met the like of you! 🙂
Not even close to the longest. You know that.
Your buddy pissed on both legs, pooped his pants, and that’s all you got? Man, he needed your help, not your very tepid support. Sho’ wouldn’t want you @ my side in a prison fight.
Is this the longest JT thread ever, or what?
Anyhow, glad, as always, to be able to make a contribution.
Y’all come back, now! G’night!*
*Yes, that sangiovese was dee-lish.
randy,
Have you ever had the fantasy of getting some of these armchair experts up in something like a T-6 Texan, or even better a Pitts, pull up into entry to a spin and just as it breaks and rolls inverted say, “Your airplane, you fly it?”
Of course, the rule of, “You puked in it, you clean up the mess” applies.

Catalina isn’t just some ordinary ex-urb, you know. You’ve got to be prepared for some hardship on adventures like this.
@NickS
He was definitely some kind of jerk. You know, I wonder if an Imam could make Lubitz a Muslim posthumously??? You know, some kind of like some delayed last rites thingy??? I know it is kinda far out, but somebody has to think about stuff like this!
