Pakistani Airline Responds To Deadly Crash By Sacrificing Goat on Airport Tarmac

3b846c8100000578-4047924-image-m-33_1482158625056Faced with widespread safety concerns, most airlines order shake downs, inspections, and enhanced monitoring. Pakistan International Airlines however had an additional safety measure: the sacrifice of a goat to ward off bad luck. The pictures on social media show smiling airline officials as they practice the barbaric superstition. It appears that some airlines have carry on policies while others have carrion policies.

A Pakistan International Airlines turboprop plane slammed into a mountain this month, killing all 47 people on board.

The sacrifice was confirmed by PIA spokesman Danyal Gilani after PIA grounded its 10 remaining ATR planes.

Referencing the Islamic tradition of animal sacrifice, a spokesman simply noted “It was done by some local employees as a gesture of gratitude over the clearance of the first ATR [for flying].”

Of course, most passengers would not be comforted by an airline turning to supervision rather than engineering to guarantee flight safety. Most require a bit more than a “hope and a prayer” for a flight.

  1. I remember a story about a law professor and some goats and a baseball series. Do not see the difference.

  2. After reading most of the comments over at the Huff Po regarding the popular vote “win” by HRC, I’d say her supporters should probably go sacrifice a couple of goats on her behalf to show their gratitude that they aren’t as stupid as Trump voters, even though in not understanding the way the election works, they actually are.

I’d be interested to see if any of them remember the media EVER presenting anything other than the road to 270.

Could any of them find one single instance where the Clinton campaign said other wise?

  3. Basically some men have such a strong lust to kill other living beings, they identify the slightest justification for doing so. The most important thing a government can do is control that lust to kill. The quality of a culture can be judged on how much killing is allowed and even encouraged.

    1. “The most important thing a government can do is control that lust to kill.”

Oh that pesky human nature thingy again. Where should we begin, Planned Parenthood? Or are we still to believe that’s not killing but rather health maintenance?

        1. Sure, I’m certain a government committed to securing life, liberty and property will be able to focus their attention on more than one agency at a time.

Is that quote one of the pro-choice battle cries? So the converse of that is “Liberals want dead babies so they cannot be raised to be soldiers”? Okay, got it.

            1. “The synthesis would be that conservatives and liberals only disagree on when we can start killing people.”

There is an alternative and it would be that conservatives and liberals are not the purveyors of death but rather support the security of life. Progressives on the other hand are at the root of this. WWI-progressive, WWII-progressive, Korean War-progressive, Vietnam-progressive, the Bushes’ wars-arguably progressive, current war-progressive.

  4. Every religion is bonkers.

Goat sacrifice on the tarmac is absurd, but a talking snake? a burning bush? transubstantiation?

    Merry usurped Winter Solstice, everyone.

    1. Merry Christmas Dave! “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)

  5. Must forward this to my friend who is a flight trainer/pilot for Delta. Obviously this is the missing element in flight safety.
As a 18 year veteran of the airlines, I can say this still doesn’t top what Carl Icahn did when he purchased TWA in 1988. He overflowed the reservation calls during peak times into the prison industrial complex, you know…the prisoners who will book your flights with name, address and when you are going to be out of town. Not a word of complaint from Forbes, frequent flyers
Or anybody else in the public.
    It’s a mad, mad world. 😎

  6. God tells me he would do an even better job for PIA if instead of sacrificing a measly goat they’d sacrifice a chairman or an airline safety officer.

  7. I am very sorry for this goat who had to die at the hands of these barbarians from an airline run by barbarians, for barbarian passengers. The goat is the only creature in the photo who is not a barbarian. Yet, these barbarians are flying planes designed by civilized people. Something is indeed wrong with this picture, literally and figuratively.

  8. My guess is that the fleet is old, dilapidated, poorly maintained and flown by staff consisting of a contingent of incompetent, inexperienced, religious fanatics who have an insatiable desire to hook up with 72 virgins. A recipe for disaster, unless, of course, one has a death wish.

  9. Perhaps the crash of the turboprop was caused by bad weather, thus they sacrificed a wether to appease the gods.

If not come on people, if you are doing R & D projects to develop a Ramjet it’s sheep…SHEEP, not goats you need to sacrifice.

Mutton Jeff is running the show.

  10. they practice the barbaric superstition.

Another vegan. Bet you’re a nuisance to your family.
