The New Censors: Poll Shows Almost Half of Americans Favor the Government Censoring “Misinformation”

We recently discussed the rise of a generation of censors as young people embrace the role of government and corporate censorship.  The erosion of free speech rights is manifest in a chilling poll from the Pew Research Center that shows a huge jump in favor of censorship among citizens with almost half now supporting the government barring “misinformation.”  The shift is almost entirely among Democrats who (like Democratic leaders) now overwhelming favor fewer free speech protections and more government control over speech.

The poll shows 48 percent of survey respondents supporting government censorship of misinformation as compared to 39 percent in 2018.

Republicans have become more protective of free speech but the shift among Democratic voters is startling. In 2018, just 40 percent of Democrats supported censorship by the government and Big Tech. It is now 65 percent.

The poll reflects the move among Democratic politicians for years in calling for censorship. We previously discussed the unrelenting drumbeat of censorship on the Internet from Democratic leaders, including President-elect Joe Biden.

As previously discussed, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey appeared at a key hearing in which he followed up his apology for censoring the Hunter Biden story by pledging more censorship. One of the most chilling moments came from Delaware Senator Chris Coons who demonstrated the very essence of the “slippery slope” danger.

Dorsey: Well, misleading information, as you are aware, is a large problem. It’s hard to define it completely and cohesively. We wanted to scope our approach to start to focus on the highest severity of harm. We focused on three areas, manipulated media, which you mentioned, civic integrity around the election, specifically in public health, specifically around COVID. We wanted to make sure that our resources that we  have the greatest impact on where we believe the greatest severity of harm is going to be. Our policies are living documents. They will evolve. We will add to them, but we thought it important that we focus our energies and prioritize the work as much as we could.

Coons: Well, Mr. Dorsey, I’ll close with this. I cannot think of a greater harm than climate change, which is transforming literally our planet and causing harm to our entire world. I think we’re experiencing significant harm as we speak. I recognize the pandemic and misinformation about COVID-19, manipulated media also cause harm, but I’d urge you to reconsider that because helping to disseminate climate denialism, in my view, further facilitates and accelerates one of the greatest existential threats to our world. So thank you to both of our witnesses.

Notably, Dorsey starts with the same argument made by free speech advocates: “Well, misleading information, as you are aware, is a large problem. It’s hard to define it completely and cohesively.” However, instead of then raising concerns over censoring views and comments on the basis for such an amorphous category, Coons pressed for an expansion of the categories of censored material to prevent people from sharing any views that he considers “climate denialism”

There is, of course, a wide array of views that different people or different groups would declare “harmful.” Indeed, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal seemed to take the opposite meaning from Twitter admitting that it was wrong to censor the Biden story. Blumenthal said that he was “concerned that both of your companies are, in fact, backsliding or retrenching, that you are failing to take action against dangerous disinformation.” Accordingly, he demanded an answer to this question:

“Will you commit to the same kind of robust content modification playbook in this coming election, including fact checking, labeling, reducing the spread of misinformation, and other steps, even for politicians in the runoff elections ahead?”

“Robust content modification” has a certain Orwellian feel to it. It is not content modification. It is censorship.

This call has now been picked up by academics and members of the media.Faculty and editors are now actively supporting modern versions of book-burning with blacklists and bans for those with opposing political views. Columbia Journalism School Dean Steve Coll has denounced the “weaponization” of free speech, which appears to be the use of free speech by those on the right. So the dean of one of the premier journalism schools now supports censorship.

Free speech advocates are facing a generational shift that is now being reflected in our law schools, where free speech principles were once a touchstone of the rule of law. As millions of students are taught that free speech is a threat and that “China is right” about censorship, these figures are shaping a new society in their own intolerant images.

  1. For you pharma fascists and demokkkrat sycophants these are the truths you must be held accountable for :

    1) Covid is the result of weaponization/gain of function. The spike protein was the primary focus of that weaponization. The spike protein, itself, is man-made and pathogenic, and by itself, can produce the same symptoms and syndromes as a full covid infection.

    2) Therefore, any mRNA vaccine, which is highly experimental and has never before been successfully used with humans, that is based on the spike protein, is inherently dangerous. That is why the number of dead and injured from this vaccine is orders of magnitude greater than all other vaccines administered, combined, for 10 years or more. In fact, given that these deaths are underreported in VAERS and deaths from Covid were grossly over reported, it is POSSIBLE that the vaccine has killed more than Covid did…

    3) Yes, the vaccine is leaky and non-neutralizing. The vaccinated, much like zombies in a zombie plague are not only victims, but are a real threat, THE real threat, to the population. They are super spreaders and they are the breeding ground for the viral mutants. This is the EXACT same principle as over/misuse of antibiotics. Mass vaccination puts the virus under selective (mutagenic) pressure in large segments of the population that were at almost 0 threat from Covid. It is all about probabilities and the number of times you force the virus to roll the dice on mutations.

    4) The experimental product is guilty until proven innocent…I have yet to see any, ANY, ANY comprehensive investigation regarding the deaths and injuries associated with this product. WHERE THE FRAK ARE THEY??? Oh yeah, and any “vaccine” that requires two jabs, but whose protection wanes at six months, is a VERY poor vax.

    5) So, take you authorization and shove it up your @ss. Ivermectin WORKS. IT is dirt cheap. It has a 50 YEAR safety profile. IT WILL DO NO HARM. Any remotely honest person cannot make the same statement about the fauci ouchie. Oh, and Ivermectin works intracellularly, so it could give a damn about spike mutations. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and works in multiple stages of the infection.

  2. I too do not want misinformation yet I get it constantly even from corporate media. My problem is how do I tell when I am being misinformed?

    1. Consider the source’s intentions. Whenever you hear a news host speak of his love for America, just remember that he expects to be paid for it.

    2. Ken, you stated you’re getting misinformation from sources including corporate media. You then ask how do I tell when I am being misinformed?

The obvious question is how do you know you are receiving misinformation now?

    3. You can’t, which is why we opted for a free society. Note that we’re talking about “misinformation”, not “disinformation”.

Misinformation is not malicious so they essentially want to censor grandma for mixing up a name or date. And know that rights are never given back so if they implement this authoritarianism, we can’t undo it.

The fact that this question has to be asked is frightening and it shows that our schools are ot teaching people basic civics.

I know you’re probably asking this question to make a larger point, but in my experience the kids today don’t seem to understand basic cause and effect politics.

We have to let people decipher information and find the truth. They’ve done this for thousands of years already(hundreds in the official USA) and have made it this far.

I’m starting to think our issues are systemic. As in we’re mass importing people who don’t share our values while not teaching basic things people need to use to solve problems.

Our psychopathic elite wants more control over us essentially and they’re purposely introducing chaos into the country in an attempt to seize total control. And they’re almost there.

  3. Reuters, Washington DC, c. 2035

“A Taliban terrorist was arrested yesterday, for starting a dumpster fire in downtown DC. Officials blame Trump for the fire, because he failed to do something-or-another. Other officials, fearful that the public won’t swallow the Trump deflection, blame his 2021 insurrectionists. ‘They created this atmosphere of lawlessness,’ said one official.”

    1. No one cares about the middle east, Shlomo. That’s over with.

It was probably the only good thing Biden did.

  4. Jonathan: Some of your followers want to change the subject. They don’t want to discuss what Republican politicians have done to stifle “free speech” and censor health professionals and teachers over Covid. So they want to change the subject to blaming Biden for the chaos at the Kabul airport. Fair enough. Biden is partially to blame because he is the commander-in-chief and he naively believed the generals when they told him it would be 6 months to a year before the Taliban could take control of all of Afghanistan. The Pentagon claimed the alleged 300-350,00 thousand Afghan national troops were capable of defending the regime in Kabul. Those numbers were a Potemkin village. Afghan commanders created “ghost” units so they could pocket salaries and supplies. Afghan troops may be uneducated but they aren’t stupid. They were not willing to sacrifice their lives for corrupt commanders and the corrupt regime in Kabul. Every day they saw their commanders stealing their salaries and withholding needed supplies. When the troops saw President Ghani flee the country with $169 million stuffed in cars and in a helicopter they realized it was time to get out–either surrendering or flying US supplied planes into neighboring countries.

The real blame for this fiasco rests with Donald Trump. In February of last year Trump negotiated an agreement with the Taliban to pull US troops out. He had almost a year to evacuate US military equipment, US citizens and Afghans who worked with the US military and do so in an orderly manner. When it comes to Afghan interpreters and others who worked with the US military Trump did little to speed up the process of issuing them special visas. Olivia Troye, former national security advisor to VP Mike Pence, blames “racist hysteria” among Trump and his close advisors like Stephen Miller. She says Trump and Miller impeded “the Special Immigration (SIV) programs that would have provided a path to US residency for Afghans who worked with the US government”. Troye says further: “There were cabinet mtgs about this during the Trump admin. where Stephen Miller would peddle his racist hysteria about Iraq & Afghanistan. He & his enablers across the govt. would undermine anyone who worked on solving the SIV issue by devastating the system at DHS & State”. Troye says Trump had 4 years to evacuate Afghan allies but he, Miller and their allies actively obstructed the SIV process.

So there is a lot of blame to go around. For 20 years Democratic and Republican administrations kept US troops in Afghanistan naively believing the commanding generals that said we were making “significant progress” against the Taliban. The US put corrupt regimes in Kabul because they supported the US occupation and skimmed off US financial aid. Biden saw the futility of continuing the occupation and is completing the process started by Trump. Does anyone believe the chaos we see at the Kabul airport would be any different under Trump? If they do they are the ones who are “deranged”!

    1. There is plenty of blame to go where the “buck stops” —> solely on President Joe Biden.

btw, you obviously don’t know who/what “Olivia Troye” really is.

    2. Anyone who listens to Tony Blinken can just feel the weakness and idiocy that oozes out of him. Same with the rest of the “leadership”…..

Look at the picture with Joe Biden standing there, surrounded by Kamala Harris, Lloyd Austin, Tony Blinken, and Jake Sullivan and you can see the weakness. Be very afraid for our country. None of these people are fit to lead anything. Not one of them is fit to lead.

      1. And with Susan “Benghazi” Rice pulling the strings behind the scenes, we are in even bigger trouble.

    3. It’s amazing Trump accomplished what he did, because even before he took office, the Dems were trying to impeach him. Trump is not to blame. The MSM and the Dems who stifled him and kept making false allegations against him are to blame for preventing Trump’s Admin from running a working government.

    4. Yeah we know, a handful of Washington neocons want to whine incessantly about Trump.

Well, here’s the smallest violin in the world playing “Drumpf the meanie” on loop for you. 🎶 🎶

The rest of us dont care. A good portion will probably reelect him in 2024 after we take the house in 2022 so seethe, shitlib.

  5. Just one basic question about those pro-censorship individuals: What makes them think their choice of “experts” are correct?

It appears they want to bypass debate, since it can put ideas into the heads of others that don’t match their prejudices. Yet I have not seen any coherence about the ideas of these prejudiced pro-censor types on any issue, other than to say, “This (expert) says these are the facts; therefore, anyone who opposes this information is wrong.” But then they go further and insist that those in opposition to their prejudices be banned from being a part of the discussion of any solution.

There was a time I was slightly on that side, and that was in 2008. I had seen the results of the legislation pushed through Congress that was spearheaded by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd that was directly responsible for the damage that happened to the United States inflicted by the banking industry. My opinion then was, “He who breaks it does not belong in the room where the issue is solved.” But there is a reason to hear their ideas, even if they are empirically incorrect.

And that’s what is needed today. On all issues.

    1. Kevin Beck,

““He who breaks it does not belong in the room where the issue is solved.” But there is a reason to hear their ideas, even if they are empirically incorrect.”

The problem is that those who originally broke it are the ones still claiming their ideas work. There is NO reason to hear their ideas when they are the ones who are actively promoting the ideas that broke it in the first place. They are empirically incorrect precisely because their ideas were proven to be incorrect. What they are doing is continuing to push these incorrect ideas as truth and demonizing those who are empirically correct in order to save their credibility or significance in the debate.

“censoring” these incorrect ideas after being proven incorrect repeatedly is the equivalent of dismissing a lost argument that no longer provides justification for failed ideas. We are seeing it in real time in states where Republican governors are insisting on these failed ideas and are oblivious to the consequences of continuing these failed arguments. Look at Governor Greg Abbott. He continues to insist that “personal responsibility” is the key to keeping Covid in check. But he’s not actually encouraging “personal responsibility” or keeping tabs on people practicing it. Not enough people in Texas are exercising this “personal responsibility”. This is why you are seeing record numbers of people getting sick and hospitals completely full of sick people. Notice that these issues are predominantly happening in states where this misinformation is prevalent and rampant. There is a limit on just how much of that information should be allowed to fester and currently private companies have every right to censor or block such information because it is becoming a threat to not only individuals, but also hospitals, and the economy as well. Sometimes a right can be temporarily suspended in light of protecting the greater community. It happened during WWII when japanese americans were sent to internment camps because they were deemed a threat. EVERYONE agreed it was necessary back then. It was wrong too and it should have never happened, but it showed that your rights are never guaranteed. Even when the constitution says they should be. This censorship is temporary, but it will continue as long as the misinformation and falsehoods continue to prolong this pandemic to the point of threatening the economy once again. People WILL get tired of the BS and many already are. The unvaccinated are being blamed for the whole mess now and it is only a matter of time before mandating vaccinations become commonplace and legal.

      1. “Sometimes a right can be temporarily suspended in light of protecting the greater community.”

Scratch a tyrant and you’ll find a collectivist.

      2. Ok you people really are out of your flipping minds.

The only ideals that have been proven “not to work” are the ones being actively pushed by your party of pseudo intellectuals. Talking about played out ideals, they’re trying to implement debunked communist and socialist governments.

(to create the permanent underclass needed so they can lord over us).

Seriously, why don’t you people understand that you will not* be in the ruling elite class they’re trying to create. Every communist empire requires a slave class and you dummies can’t sign away your freedom fast eenough. I’ve always noticed that you guys can only defer to what you consider “experts”, but how do you handle people who aren’t acting in good faith, but haven’t proven it yet? Do you wait until you’re in a gulag or starving to death?

Now that’s the inherently flawed ideology. If you can only defer to experts, you can’t make decisions for yourself and therefore you shouldn’t be making decisions for anyone

      3. @Svelaz
        @Kevin Beck,

Hilarious. Your post tells us a lot about you The fact of the matter is that the only people threatened by right wing ideals are young people like you who have no faith in your own ability to soread your own outdated bad ideas.

And your persuasion tactics ate LOL funny. So these ideals all failed because you say so right? Because some people who continue to defer tge ruling elite who want to turn you into serfs.

But I promise you this; A solid 35% of this country will shed blood before allowing this Govt to become authoritarian censors who impose their weird pathologies on the rest of us.

Keep talking like you know what you’re saying though(Lol you don’t). You sound like every dumb female/male feminist in their early 20 years old. Real men take care of themselves and don’t look right or left when asked a question

  6. Jonathan: The Pew polling results are not surprising considering all the lies and misinformation being put out by Fox, other right-wing media and even you about Covid. In Republican controlled states, like Florida and Texas, the governors are deliberately lying to their citizens from political motives in an effort to distract the public from their utter failure to deal with Covid. But how, exactly, would the Biden administration actually censor Abbott/DeSantis? It’s a red herring. Biden can’t stop the utter non-sense coming out of the mouths of self-serving Republican politicians. The only way to counter the lies coming from right-wing Republican politicians is to provide timely and accurate information and that is what the Biden administration is trying to do through the CDC and other government health officials.

It is almost laughable you could argue “Republicans have become more protective of free speech”. Tell that to the high school teacher in Republican controlled Utah who was just fired because she told her students the truth about Covid (see my earlier comment). Tell that to public health officials and school district administrators in Florida who have been fired and threatened with the loss of salaries for defying Gov. DeSantis’ anti-mask edict. That’s coercion and censorship on a grand scale! And talk about real threats to “free speech” look at what happened to AP Florida reporter Brendon Farrington. He wrote an article about DeSantis going around the state promoting the ant-viral drug therapy Regeneron–the cocktail Trump was given at Walter Reed. In his article Farrington pointed out that one of the governor’s multi-million dollar donors has made huge investments Regeneron–clear cronyism and conflict of interest by the governor (see my earlier comment). Christine Pushaw, the governor’s press secretary, went ballistic over this reporting. Pushaw tweeted that if Farrington didn’t change his story there would be hell to pay, e.g., “put you a blast” and “light them up”–referring to AP. After these tweets Farrington received numerous threatening messages. For her “abusive behavior” Pushaw was suspended from Twitter. Coercion and threats against journalists are part of the Republican toolbox.

Now we could also talk about how Republicans across the country are passing legislation to prevent the teaching of anything related to the racist history of the country. In the name of trying to protect innocent children’s ears, Republicans are violating the free speech rights of teachers and school administrators who want the kids to know the truth about our history. So, far from being the protectors of “free speech” as you claim, Republican politicians are doing just the opposite. Polls show only one side of the story. What Republicans are doing in real time to undercut “free speech” is apparently a topic you don’t want to address!

      1. William_JD, no, he’s right. Turley is being quite the hypocrite in his arguments surrounding free speech. Everyone he mentions still have their free speech rights completely intact, they have always been. Dennis McIntyre does have a very valid point. Republican legislators are deliberately practicing the very thing Turley complains about yet you don’t hear a peep out of him. Banning the teaching of CRT theory IS censoring the discussion of a controversial idea. It’s exactly what the constitution prohibits government from doing. Turley is complaining about censorship in the PRIVATE sector which is completely legal by Turley’s own admission. Calling it “corporate censorship” doesn’t make it any different. This is the problem Turley faces with entities like Facebook, and Twitter. They are private entities that have every right to censor what they deem a violation of their policies. Misinformation is actually harming whole communities by encouraging those who are too naive, gullible, or just plain ignorant to know the difference. Misinformation or outright falsehoods are deliberate, often with specific political goals. This isn’t about safety of health, it’s about scoring points against political opponent simply over ideological differences.

Dennis correctly pointed out just how harmful misinformation and deliberate falsehoods are creating the situations in those republican states. It’s getting so bad that in Orlando Florida people are being told to conserve water so hospitals have enough oxygen to keep those unvaccinated yahoos who have been misinformed and lied to alive.

There is a legitimate reason why these private companies CAN censor these falsehoods and misinformation. It’s threatening everyone and Turley is oblivious to the bigger picture because his concerns regarding free speech are concentrated on private entities doing what they can legally do.

        1. swetlas ; You and dennis McMenace need to get a room. The Falsehoods and disinformation are ALL coming from your bright shining lies on the left…. and that dullard Baizou Biden. Turley is not oblivious to the bigger picture…he sees it like most of us do…the fraud , the deceit , the outright lies of the collective left and this puddin’head bocks of rocks that was installed as POTUS.

    1. Not only are you deranged, you seem to actually believe Joe Biden doesn’t lie through his big fake teeth every time he opens his mouth — with or without his script.

    2. Dennis McMenace…. your delusion and TDS have no limits. The quashing of truth and facts is completely ALL on the left side of our political crimes presently. The absolute debacle of Azzcrackastan , and the criminal rollout and snake oil sales of these Rmna “vaccines”….. this should have put all those perpetuating them in big pharma and those in this admin knowingly pushing these fake harmful blue jabs.
      https://noqreport.com/2021/08/22/microbiologist-dr-sucharit-bhakdi-explains-covid-jab-effects/
The free speech is being stifled by those attacking and violating the constitution…and oddly they are all your demoratzi crowd…you can not deny that bruh…it’s your beleoved socialist demokkkrats demanding we give up our freedoms , or choices and shoving this race baiting CRT garbage down our throats all the while smiling and demanding we take the toxic blue jab and flooding us with scores of 3rd world diseased ignorants lloking for a free lunch ( like we already don’t have too much of that at home already !) . You really need a shrink and or read up on your propaganda better…you need help !.

    3. Imagine being this brainwashed? In actuality, the only reason why this poll is in your* favor is because we’ve imported so many low IQ people who don’t share our values. These people are easily manipulated.

If you combine these people with a lack of intelligence with brainwashed people like yourself and you get a country on brink of destruction.

    4. Dennis McIntyre

Your whole argument is, “look at my strawman arguments, I have a couple”.

Anyone who is honest knows democrats don’t care about free speech anymore. Were just at the point where the ruling class of the party has finally brainwashed you all into giving away your freedoms for serfdom.

Answer me this, Dennis. IF the “experts” in the ruling elite weren’t being honest or acting in your best interest, how would you know? I mean, if the so-called “experts” kept telling you that things were actually working well, how would you know you had a problem?

And herein lies the first problem with you guys.. When it’s all boiled down you’re just elitist cheerleaders/fans. You have no ideas, you only have their ideas/ideals

We obviously have Republicans doing the same and if the roles were reversed it would them threatening the rest of us with totalitarianism/censorship.

And this brings me to the second issue, you and others on your side telling the rest of us that you’re all going to censor us because of Trump or Afganistan or who knows.

Ok, who again is the totalitarian? Don’t answer that actually, you’re obviously not that intelligent

  7. Everything Presiden Joe Biden told us yesterday about what was happening in Kabul was a lie. Even CNN is calling him out. Foreign governments are shocked, betrayed, blindsided and now UK Parliament has censured Biden’s “dishonour.”

Why would you trust anything Joe Biden is telling us about Covid?

    I wouldn’t and I don’t.

  8. Polls, lol.
People…polls are used to CREATE public opinion, NOT to REVEAL it.
Websites like this might SEEM “legit”, but as soon as they start talking about “polls”, they’re shilling for zionist forces.

  9. Couple rhetorical questions for all the Orwellian brainchildren supporting this silencing of what you deem misinformation.

If you have a bunch of opinions, aren’t all them wrong but the right one?

Are we really going to let someone decide for us which one is the right one regardless of how they decided or arrived at that decision, and then allow them to silence all other voices?

Is the freedom bought with so much blood and sacrifice going to be sold so cheaply by its inheritors for the promise of a little perceived “safety”?

  10. This story is one of the saddest I can remember reading. We are normally reading about the horrors of the past, this article is about the horrors of the future

    1. I wonder if the folks in China had the same thought about a Biden presidency? Could explain some oddities of the last election.

  11. New survey data, just in: Four out of five dentists surveyed recommend sugarless gum for their patients who chew gum.

And how would the Progressives hold the fifth dentist accountable for spreading anti-science misinformation? Inquiring minds want to know.

    1. Epstein: “And how would the Progressives hold the fifth dentist accountable for spreading anti-science misinformation?”
      ***
Probably pull all of his teeth.

    2. I really like this.
People have been conditioned to believe science is some how a consesus exercise.
It is not. Thr very essence of science is one scientists insisting the consensus is wrong.
If you spend you life in the sciences, you have experienced 100’s of reversals of known science.

These people would silence all of those reversals.

  12. Could we possibly look worse with this corrupt, incompetent administration?

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/us-general-tells-british-special-forces-stop-rescuing-people-in-kabul-youre-making-us-look-bad

A US general tells British Special Forces to stop rescuing people in Kabul because they were making the US look bad.

The US is doing quite enough to make itself look bad.

This is another US General who needs to step to the Rogue’s March right out of the military.

    Disgusting.

    1. Probably Gen Milley’s younger brother. Such general officers in our military ranks have been ticket punchers more so than salt of the earth leaders. The milley’s in their ranks far outnumber the Patton’s we once had. The careerist officer from XO on up is either down with the political sickness or is short lived “up their”. They become borg or get cashiered or forced out. I knew a great fellow that enlisted. Did his four years and then re-enlisted under the proviso he get into OCS. He had the brains and did just that. He was an amazing officer but brother did the ring knockers around him have scorn for him as he was not from their lineage. They never invited him and or his wife to officer functions. yet he could run circles around them in every way ,and often did so when they tried to stick it to him. He made captain and promptly exited to a good civilian job.
It was epic when he turned the chickensh*t around on those trying to do him that way. As an enlisted man first he understood the grunt world , and with his intelligence he beat the primrose class at their own game…and always had the respect of the rank and file…. we would have followed him to hell and back. But pond scum like milley and his ilk are what we have today. Ticket punching robots of low moral character .
The CIA bugged out of azzcrackastan several weeks ago…the knew what was coming because of our feckless leadership. And now we have a sea of equipment left for the tallywhackers to abuse , sell or trade. Inviting the chicoms in to mine for minerals etc etc…. How much did Baizou biden and his people get paid for this ?.

  13. Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.
    ~William F. Buckley, Jr.

  14. Those who most want censorship have never fought for our country, performed public service at great sacrifice, or have lived in terror or tyranny.

  15. ….Until it’s their information that is labelled and ‘misingormation’

  16. “The medical elite thought they knew what caused ulcers and stomach cancer. But they were wrong — and didn’t want to hear otherwise.”
    7 April 2010 Discover Magazine

In reference to Barry Marshall and Robin Warren’s ground breaking work.

They challenged conventional scientific thought and were laughed at and scorned. Two decades later they had the last laugh and won the Nobel Prize in 2005 and later honored again in 2020. What would Facebook fact checkers think of that if they were around back then?

“This year’s Nobel Laureates in Physiology or Medicine made the remarkable and unexpected discovery that inflammation in the stomach (gastritis) as well as ulceration of the stomach or duodenum (peptic ulcer disease) is the result of an infection of the stomach caused by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori.”
    novelprize.org (2005)

Seeking true truth even if it is at odds with conventional thinking is what delineates good from great.

If we chose to go down this sinkhole then it will be a race to the bottom. History teaches us that this path is dangerous.

  17. Under current law, government deters misinformation under various penalties. If you aren’t aware of federal laws affecting Securities Reporting, Medical Device and Pharmaceutical claims, Consumer Fraud, Consumer Financial Fraud, Perjury Under Oath, IRS Tax Returns, Security Clearances, Intelligence Handling, Airline Safety, Railroad Safety, Automobile Safety, Chemical MSDS Datasheets, Firearms Applications, Visa, Asylum and Citizenship Applications….then you might kid yourself into believing b.s claims that the government can neither define nor censor “disinformation” (because of the 1st Amendment!).

Can anybody seriously claim that we’d be a “better” society if fraudulent drugs and medical devices could be advertised any without government interference?

If you buy JT’s oft-cited dictum of Justice Harlan, “the antidote to misinformation is more information”, wouldn’t that principle applied to drug safety allow fraudulent pill pushers the lead-time to poison their marks before the corrections filter out?

It’s hollow and escapist to say “I don’t support government censorship” when you’ve quietly accepted the long list of exceptions above.
You DO accept censorship of frauds in many realms where it benefits you and the public.

There is wisdom in the observation that a lie travels around the globe before the truth has tied its shoes.

Fraudulent information faces a phalanx of government censorship, and the major exception to this rigor is political speech — which is the focus of the 1st Amendment protections.

The question is, how far does its protection go into the realm of intentionally deceitful infowarfare campaigns? Professionally funded? Anonymous and thus beyond the reach of defamation law? Mounted by foreign adversaries intent on destroying the USA?

These are the issues the 50% of us are struggling with. I think it’s more than 50%. But when you use the “C” word, it shrinks down.

We need to find a language that is nuanced, embracinging surgical precision, when discussion how far the 1st Amendment goes, and what mechanisms could be employed to deter the most uncivil, venal, hyper-zealous mendacities swirling around our “echo chambers”.

But to blanket assert (as a talking point) that the Government has no powers of censorship (post and prior-restraint) is blind to reality.

Reality is that we allow the USG to deter intentional deception in a wide vista of affairs, and we’d vote to keep it that way.

    1. Sorry , but your long winded wordy rant really said nothing , more obfuscation in a dizzying array. Gov’t is deceptive , always has been. In these times they expect to be looked at as purveyors of truth to the citizenry…and brother do we know otherwise on this. The more socialist , welfare statist our politicos have become the more Orwellian they are…this is factual observation. This toad puppet of a pres is directly violating the constitution but the establishment and its apparatchiks look the other way and more often than not endorse and help this growing cancer of gov’t perpetuating itself and directly attacking our freedoms under all manner of emergency powers and for the children / antiracist act(s) Bunk. The intentional dumbing down of our pooblik education system and politicizing the teachers unions. This is only just the tip of their deceit in undermining our freedoms.

    2. You could have made your defense of fascism a lot shorter, if you had just said:

Since the government outlaws fraud, it can ban opinions it doesn’t like.

    3. You’re ignoring the fact the Democrats will always seek to censor the truth to clear the way for their lies.

  18. Covid 19 is sullying the integrity of the population. Those concerned with their safety are both vaccinated and non-vaccinated, but yet polar opposites, one is worrying that the unvaccinated are spreading the virus and causing a delay to returning to normal again, and one concerned that the vaccine will jeopardize their health worse than what a Covid infection would. Of these two options who is more right than the other, and by what authority if any. The Constitution makes no mention of any authorities’ right to suspend individuals’ rights in determining what they allow into their bodies. Abortion is similar, you do or you don’t want something in your body, even though you know not if your action will be detrimental or advantageous to society. Both sides of the vaccine debate cannot project what the future will be, are there unknowns, can we quantify the human costs, are the known’s provable or some manipulated fact(s)? The draconian rules/orders/laws currently postured against the unvaccinated must stop we are not yet a totalitarian state. Part of living in a free society is that, EVERYONE has the same freedoms.

    1. George ; You base some of your “thought” on the current Rmna cocktail as being a vaccine , when by definition it is a DNA therapy – not a vaccine. The fact that this spike protein in I it is doing untold damage to healthy people and even helping the virus mutate and effect those carrying the blue jab protein. And yet we have big brother baizou biden threatening citizens he will find a way to make ‘us’ take the blue jab or else.
What is “sullying the integrity of the population” is the Marxist drivel being implanted and used to suppress and condemn citizens for any little thing the goobermint and it’s conspirators deem “misinformation/sedition/racist etc etc. It is sickeningly stupid and disgusting at the same time that the state is being used to herd the sheeple by fear fraud and lies…all of the governments making. And to what end , that is pretty obvious to all but the leftists , Marxists and deluded amongst us , oh and of course those in “power” fully knowing what they are doing to the citizenry.

      1. You need to hit the biology books, pal. There is no “DNA therapy” going on with mRNA vaccines. RNA is able to only make a copy of information stored in DNA — it cannot modify DNA. There’s no DNA in these mRNA vaccines.

I know it can be confusing. Some viruses are DNA viruses, and some are RNA viruses. SAR-Covid-2 is an RNA virus, meaning it can enter the cell and use its RNA to manufacture proteins (to make copies of itself), but it leaves the DNA untouched.

DNA viruses (e.g. HIV) carry short strands of DNA, and when they enter the cell, they can edit their DNA into the host’s DNA (retroviruses). And yes, there are cancer (and other) vaccines that use retroviral DNA editing.

But, the 4 vaccines for Covid available in the US are not of this type, do not bring any DNA into the body, and do not have any capacity to edit host-cell DNA.

I’m not arguing that there aren’t side-effects (temporary), and for a tiny number of individuals, more serious complications. I also realize that these are buried in a blizzard of Adverse Reaction Incidents that are coincidence.

You may have some valid points, but it will be more persuasive to fact-check your assertions — and not “step into it” by confounding mRNA vaccines with DNA therapy.

        1. I haven’t seen this 18 min Video but will this evening:

Maybe both of these & at least one more I’ll post would help people understand why Millions Harmed & dead so far from this crap.

          1. I watched the first video and will remain agnostic. Some of what he says is consistent with other sources and other things seem a reach too far but I am not qualified to judge. I was watching with a physician and same conclusion, interesting, possible, some a bit of a reach.

The reported injuries and deaths associated with the jab are alarming even if the mechanisms of injury are not fully understood as yet. It doesn’t seem anyone is looking hard enough for an explanation.

Considering the number of breakthrough cases together with the number of vaccine associated injuries and deaths the Risk – Benefit calculations probably need updating–more Risk for less Benefit.

            1. If you aren’t qualified to judge then you can’t possibly determine what is or is not out of reach.

            2. I just finish that 1st video, I thought it bad azz just for asking very relevant questions such as, IE: My wife, she’s already under one experimental immune therapies for stage 4 lung cancer. Knock on wood, 4 yrs later, doing great. Her Docs keep pressing her to take this mRNA Gene Therapy. Why? What are the short term & long effects of mixing the 2 therapies? There are no studies we know of or those docs!

What are the short & long term effects of big pharma’s mRNA gene therapies? If they know they damn sure not telling the general population.

And a couple of easy question everyone should have been demanded answered.

1st: Why are all these accredited Docs/Scientist/Researchers/Nurses/etc. being block/banned from the old media, ABC, NBC, CBC, Etc., & rotten big Tech???

              That tells me a lot.

2nd: Where is the money for research & for the after action reports, Autopsies, etc..

We know there’s the HHS/CDC VAERS reports, where are the other 11 Gov. Reports I’ve been hearing of?

With these questions & a bunch of others how in their right mind would take or suggest others take those rotten Jabs when there are know treatments that work…. I hear HCQ +Zinc, Ivervacent+ Z Pack, 5000 mg interveneus Vitamin C…. Many Docs have been saying, ck with yours????

Oh wait, if there are safe treatments big pharma can’t sell their Experimental mRNA gene therapy jabs worth Billions of $$$$ Guinea Pig Gen Pop.

              1. Oky1 — Very tough situation. I have mentioned before that a relative had a serious autoimmune disease of a type with a well recognized trajectory. It was expected the patient would have a few more years. She got the Covid jab and crashed and died within a couple of weeks. It was shocking and unexpected. Some of the doctors involved seemed to suspect the jab had something to do with her crash. But, nobody can be sure under those circumstances. Two physician friends with autoimmune problems have evaluated their risks and decided not to get the vaccine. Another physician friend, overweight and with other problems, died of Covid before the vaccination was available. No matter what decision a person makes he has to face the fact that in awhile he may think he made the wrong decision. Thank you China for destroying the world we knew.

            3. “Breakthrough cases” is a made up propaganda term like “asymptomatic” instead of “immune” and substituting “cases” for “deaths” all while controlling the definitions of all these words.

            4. “breakthrough cases” is a made up propaganda term. You never heard it before in your entire life before this year.
Just like you’ve never heard “asymptomatic” used before last year.
This is all control through legalese language.
The secret to everything is, they control everything by controlling what words are use and how those words are defined.
Control what words mean and you control everything.

              1. Two and a half millennia ago, Tsze-lu asked Confucius what would be the first thing he would do if put in charge of government. He replied that it would be to rectify names. Why, asked Tsze-lu? Because, said Confucius:
If names be not correct, language is not in accordance with the truth of things. If language be not in accordance with the truth of things, affairs cannot be carried on to success.

The most absurd word I ever heard is the invented cudgel word “Islamophobia”.

        2. Is a vaccine supposed to carry DNA and modify DNA of the host ?. NO. It is a gene therapy…and it – the blue jab – is not proven safe by a long shot. VAERS and the US GOVT mechanism to pay people damages for vaccines that harm , maim or kill them have both been overwhelmed by these “alleged vaccines”. Even NPR did an bit on this and how one main victim was paid off independently so as to avoid that person being used in an ongoing lawsuit by many as it would make solid legal ground for these mRNA jabs to be a culprit in these harms !. This is a scamdemic and the blue jab is a fools errand. The goobers in CDC even admitted their PCR tests were a fraud. Now the gob of “breakthrough” cases coupled with all the lies by the media , fauci , Baizou Biden , CDC and an unproven efficacy of these blue jabs just compounds the viewable deceit by the goobermint(s) using this as sheeple control and distraction while they try to dilute and contravene the peoples freedoms. It’s all BS !. This whu flu whether intended to be released now or later was the perfect storm of distraction and coercion between like minded corrupt government leaders world wide. As the demoratzis always say “never let a good crisis go unused”.

    2. There is no mystery that if a man and woman have sex, that conception is a probable outcome. Elective abortion is a poor example of responsible liberty. The choices for a women and men are: abstention, prevention, adoption, and compassion. The other choice, Pro-Choice, the religion, not limited to the wicked solution, denies women and men’s dignity and agency, and reduces human life to a negotiable property.

    3. Now if you could explain (drill into their brains), the concept of a free nation based on free citizens we might end this push towards a false security based on tyranny.

  19. Ah yes , another structured poll in support of the deep state and the lefts authoritarian beer hall putsch !. A sleepy senile corrupt president whom likely can not even fathom wiping his own bottom – he said as much on a hot mic. The normalcy of American values has been eroded by his handlers in their quest to turn America into a dystopian socialist polizei state. When goobermint can mandate such things as a poison blue jab…you know for the children , whom by the way if they take the blue jab it tends to end badly for them. And on top of that they are the least likely to suffer from the scamdemic. The current white house is in disarray , always was from the get go as the handlers are many , and their power grabs ginormous and conflicting. America is a stricken ship ricocheting from iceberg to iceberg by the clowns at the helm….and it appears for all intents this is quite on purpose. The pathetic orange man bad crowd gloat in the swath of destruction done by baizou biden and kamelho harris……. or actually by the leftist puppet masters behind them. Grand theater of distraction as they intentionally blow azzcrackastan and do a bum rush to afflict americans with more scamdemic lockdown constitutional abridgements.
The demokratzis amongst us are in glee at this destruction and abridgement of freedoms and common sense. It’s the selfish lust for power and free benefits from the state that propel them in their sinking of this ship. Welkommen komeraden , welkommen…Your papers please…..
