“What’s More Tragic is Capitalism”: BLM Faces Bankruptcy as Founder Cullors is Cut By Warner Bros.

Two years ago, I wrote columns about companies pouring money into Black Lives Matter to establish their bona fides as “antiracist” corporations. The money continued to flow despite serious questions raised about BLM’s management and accounting. Democratic prosecutors like New York Attorney General Letitia James showed little interest in these allegations even as James sought to disband the National Rifle Association (NRA) over similar allegations. At the same time, Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors cashed in with companies like Warner Bros. eager to give her massive contracts to signal their own reformed status. It now appears that BLM is facing bankruptcy after burning through tens of millions and Warner Bros. cut ties with Cullors after the contract produced no — zero — new programming.

Some states belatedly investigated BLM as founders like Cullors seemed to scatter to the winds. Gone are tens of millions of dollars, including millions spent on luxury mansions and windfalls for close associates of BLM leaders. The usual suspects gathered around the activists like former Clinton campaign general counsel Marc Elias, who later removed himself from his “key role” as the scandals grew.

When questions were raised about the lack of accounting and questionable spending, BLM attacked critics as “white supremacists.”

Warner Bros. was one of the companies eager to grab its own piece of Cullors to signal its own anti-racist virtues.  It gave Cullors a lucrative contract to guide the company in the creation of both scripted and non-scripted content, focusing on reparations and other forms of social justice. It launched a publicity campaign for everyone to know that it established a “wide-ranging content partnership” with Cullors who would now help guide the massive corporation’s new programming. Calling Cullors “one of the most influential thought leaders in American public life,” Warner Bros. announced that she was going to create a wide array of new programming, including “but not limited to live-action scripted drama and comedy series; longform/event series; unscripted docuseries; animated programming for co-viewing among kids, young adults and families; and original digital content.”

Some are now wondering if Warner Bros. ever intended for this contract to produce anything other than a public relations pitch or whether Cullors took the money and ran without producing even a trailer for an actual product. Indeed, both explanations may be true.

Paying money to Cullors was likely viewed as a type of insurance to protect the company from accusations of racial insensitive. After all, the company was giving creative powers to a person who had no prior experience or demonstrated talent in the area. Yet, Cullors would be developing programming for one of the largest media and entertainment companies in the world.

One can hardly blame Cullors despite criticizism by some on the left for going on a buying spree of luxury properties.

After all, Cullors was previously open about her lack of interest in working with “capitalist” elements. Nevertheless, BLM was run like a Trotskyite study group as the media and corporations poured in support and revenue.

It was glaringly ironic to see companies like Warner Bros. falling over each other to grab their own front person as the group continued boycotts of white-owned businesses. Indeed, if you did not want to be on the wrong end of one of those boycotts, you needed to get Cullors on your payroll.

Much has now changed as companies like Bud Light have been rocked by boycotts over what some view as heavy handed virtue signaling campaigns.

It was quite a change for Cullors and her BLM co-founder, who previously proclaimed “[we] are trained Marxists. We are super versed on, sort of, ideological theories.” She denounced capitalism as worse than COVID-19. Yet, companies like Lululemon rushed to find their own “social justice warrior” while selling leggings for $120 apiece.

When some began to raise questions about Cullors buying luxury homes, Facebook and Twitter censored them.

With increasing concerns over the loss of millions, Cullors eventually stepped down as executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, as others resigned.  At the same time, the New York Post was revealing that BLM Global Network transferred $6.3 million to Cullors’ spouse, Janaya Khan, and other Canadian activists to purchase a mansion in Toronto in 2021.

According to The Washington Examiner, BLM PAC and a Los Angeles-based jail reform group paid Cullors $20,000 a month. It also spent nearly $26,000 on meetings at a luxury Malibu beach resort in 2019. Reform LA Jails, chaired by Cullors, received $1.4 million, of which $205,000 went to the consulting firm owned by Cullors and her spouse, according to New York magazine.

Once again, while figures like James have spent huge amounts of money and effort to disband the NRA over such accounting and spending controversies, there has been only limited efforts directed against BLM in New York and most states.

Cullors once declared that “while the COVID-19 illness is tragic, what’s more tragic is capitalism.” These companies seem to be trying to prove her point. Yet, at least for Cullors, Warner Bros. fulfilled its slogan that this is all “The stuff that dreams are made of.”

  1. You can take b@acks out of the ghetto but you cannot take the ghetto out of b@acks!

BLM was a scam from the beginning but you weren’t supposed to notice.

  2. Turley is complaining about BLM not getting investigated as the NRA has been. He’s not saying that the NRA’s actions are not wrong either. He’s tacitly acknowledging that the NRA is just as culpable for the actions they are being investigated on. Problem is they have prioritize who to investigate and who is worth it. The NRA was already in trouble long before BLM came on the scene.
Turley seems to be getting sloppy with this reasoning skills. It takes time to build a case and gather evidence and the BLM issue seems to be more about mismanagement than deliberate fraud like the NRA case. Mismanagement of finances is not crime, but it certainly hurts the cause which seems to be the issue more than Turley’s portrayal. Because Turley has been quite loose with the facts on many things, this story is no exception. All he’s doing is what he accuses others of all the time, feeding the rage. It’s literally his bread and butter and what keeps his readers attached like remoras on his blog.

There are tons of free speech violations and other important scandals happening created by republicans who are far more serious and embarrassing that should be easy criticisms for Turley. Banning drag shows and reading to kids in drag because….. dressing in women’s clothes is….scary? Reading a book is….dangerous because a creative expression is involved? How about Trump’s mounting legal problems? He’s certainly looking at prison time for sure. Yet, Turley barely touched on that because he knows he doesn’t have any real defense or excuse to offer. So he focuses on things that are more palatable to his readers. Feeding the rage about BLM, Hunter Biden, or free speech being “attacked” in weird out-in-the-boonies-colleges and universities and ignoring real ones. One thing is pretty clear. Turley loves to feed the rage despite criticizing others doing the same. It’s an easy way to keep readers glued to his blog and he knows it.

      1. Those are the exceptions. Turley focuses mostly on those obscure colleges and universities where the incidents occur.

        1. Is U of P obscure?

Only to those unable to think and proofread what they write.

Svelaz, you never fail to amaze.

          1. S, Meyer,

Huh? As usual you just randomly make incoherent queries without using that amazing intellect you keep neglecting to use. Use that gift man. Actually think before you post.

The key words that should have tipped you off….”those are the exceptions.”

            1. “The key words that should have tipped you off….”those are the exceptions.”

More stupidity from the blog idiot.

Firstly, you mentioned, “Turley focuses mostly on those obscure colleges and universities”, but a very recent posting involved U of P. That would make any normal person cautious. But you are not normal. You are terminally stupid.

Secondly, Turley has mentioned many of the Ivy League schools. There are few of them and many schools that are not Ivy’s. You have no mathematical skills. You start and finish at zero, which represents your level of development.

Is Oberlin, founded in 1833, one of those schools you think is obscure? It has been mentioned many times on this blog.

Svelaz, if you demonstrate any more of your stupidity, you will lose even the last of your follower idiots.

    1. Svelaz opines: “He’s (Turley) tacitly acknowledging that the NRA is just as culpable for the actions they are being investigated on.”

I already anticipated this argument with my 10:11 AM comment. Letitia James is BLM. She’s politically corrupt, and it’s impossible to distinguish genuine investigations from lawfare in her office. She should be removed by the voters, but the decent ones have given up trying to make sense of NY and are fleeing to Florida.

      1. DioGenes,

“Letitia James is BLM. She’s politically corrupt, and it’s impossible to distinguish genuine investigations from lawfare in her office. ”

And your evidence that she is BLM is? Just saying she is is not evidence mind you. Do you have proof of your claim? I’m sure you anticipated this too.

        1. I don’t have to prove it. You have to prove she isn’t because most people would agree with me, including many Democrats. That’s why they voted for her.

          1. Diogenes,

“I don’t have to prove it.”

YOU made the claim. The burden of proof is on you to back up your claim. If you say she’s BLM obviously you would have proof since YOU know. But since you are avoiding it already it means you made it up and your claim is just…BS.

Then you say I have to prove she isn’t. Which is like trying to prove a negative you can’t. Even playground rules dictate YOU have the burden of proof on your claim first, no backsies.

            1. I made the claim, but most people already agree with me. I rest my case. You need to change their minds.

              1. “I made the claim, but most people already agree with me. I rest my case. You need to change their minds.”

No YOU need to prove your claim. You made it knowing you couldn’t prove it to be true. Which would make it a lie. That “most people would agree with me” does not prove your claim true. Most people who are also not able to prove YOUR claim agreeing with you just make them enablers of YOUR lie.

YOU need to prove your claim true or concede that you lied. Those are your only options. Resting your case is admission that you lied and you are sticking to it.

                1. LOL! You’re killing today, Svelaz. I don’t feel the need to prove it, but you keep saying so if that makes you happy.

                  1. Diogenes.

“LOL! You’re killing today, Svelaz. I don’t feel the need to prove it, but you keep saying so if that makes you happy.”

All you are doing is admitting you lied. Not being able to prove it confirms it. You were just flinging BS because you wanted to.

Moral of this thread is, be careful what you claim. If you can’t prove it or back it up. It’s very likely just BS.

                2. I do not know whether or not Letitia James is associated with BLM. What I do know is that she is a very controversial figure in New York State. I, for one, do not think that she is very good at her job overseeing the Department of Law – my opinion. I will tell you why. I am attorney licensed to practice law in New York State and I follow (as best I can) the cases that she brings. In my opinion, the cases that she brings reflect political motivation. As a taxpayer in New York State, it is my opinion that Ms. James is squandering taxpayer dollars.

At the same time, I know from experience that the Department of Law does not respond to legitimate inquiries relating to fraud and other matters. To illustrate, I found that a California-based internet company had created a profile on line using my name which purported to provide a character assessment. I wanted to notify New York State that there was an internet company that was violating Section 50 of the Civil Rights in New York State. I sent a “cease and desist” letter to the internet company with a copy to the New York State Attorney General. The internet company immediately deleted the profile. Months and months later – maybe even a year later – I received a form letter from the AG’s office stating that there was nothing that it could do to help me. Perhaps the AG did not actually read my letter. In any event, the AG failed to notice that I had alerted it to an illegal activity. I have also had clients who complained to the AG about actual investment fraud by a fraudster in New York City. The client received no response whatsoever. The miscreant was eventually sanctioned by the SEC. Disappointing, to be sure. Disconcerting, to be sure. Surprising – not really.

                  1. Catherine, they are obviously incompetent, at best, or too busy persecuting political opponents, at worst. I wish we had more voters like you in NY.

                    1. It’s unfortunate that the votes of many folks in NYS who actually try to understand the issues really don’t make a difference. I was somewhat hopeful that Lee Zeldin would win last fall. It was a close race – it’s disappointing that Kathy Hochul is our governor.

            2. ” Even playground rules dictate “

That proves it, Svelaz is a mentally deficient child in adult clothing.

              1. S. Meyer,

Are you saying you were never a child? You never had arguments on the playground? Pretty sad. At least I had a childhood. It seems you never did.

                1. “Are you saying you were never a child? “

I was a child, but I grew up. However, even as a young child, I knew more than you do today as an adult. Not all brains develop. We would feel for your inadequacies being one of the unfortunate, but we can’t sympathize too much because you are also a liar.

Look at how easy it is to respond to you showing how much of an idiot you are.

        2. “And your evidence that she is BLM is?”

Svelaz, when you see a duck in the park, what proof do you have it is a duck?

Answer: If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

Don’t you ever say anything that doesn’t make you look and sound foolish?

          1. S. Meyer,

“Svelaz, when you see a duck in the park, what proof do you have it is a duck?

Answer: If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

Don’t you ever say anything that doesn’t make you look and sound foolish?”

            S. Meyer, you’re saying that because she is black that she IS a BLM member? That is all that is required to be a member of BLM. That is what you are offering as evidence of Diogenes claim.

So, by YOUR logic. Supreme Court justice Thomas is also a member of BLM. LOL!!!

You and Diogenes just made the most racist thing you could do and not realize why. LOL!!! BWAHAHAAHAAH!!!!!!!

You literally stated because she is black she is BLM. LOL!!!!!!!

And you wonder why you’re called out as racists. LOL!!!!!!

You still have to prove that the duck is a member of BLM which you still can’t prove. Which is the whole point. Do you get it now? I doubt it. Eh, I don’t think you will get it. It’s going to go way over your head. LOL!!!!!!!

            1. Svelaz does it, again: “So, by YOUR logic. Supreme Court justice Thomas is also a member of BLM.”

Thank you for lightening my day, but I need to sign off. I’m turning blue from laughing. Peace.

            2. “S. Meyer, you’re saying that because she is black that she IS a BLM member?”

Obviously, that is not what I said, but an idiot can have trouble dealing with words and ideas. To make it clear, you are that idiot.

If she resembles BLM, acts like BLM, and talks like BLM she is BLM unless proven otherwise.

        3. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck. It’s a duck. Please don’t over think this thing.

          1. Independent Bob,

Does that mean the duck is a member of BLM?

Diogenes made the claim “James is BLM”. He couldn’t prove it but S.Meyer, literally made the point that being black automatically makes them a member of BLM. “If it walks like a duck, and looks like a duck”. James is black. They are saying because she’s black, she’s BLM. That, is his proof of Diogenes claim and Diogenes doesn’t dispute it.

            1. ” but S.Meyer, literally made the point that being black automatically makes them a member of BLM. “

That is a lie and a racist one as well. Clarence Thomas is not a member of BLM even though he is black. Even your logic is bad. That makes you a stupid liar.

    2. Getting your jollies by dressing up and prancing about in a grotesque mockery of women and doing it in front of little children is more than a little creepy, neighbor.

      1. Who says it’s grotesque mockery besides you? The majority of people don’t think so. Little children think a lot of things are funny or simply entertaining. It seems it’s the adults who are put off by the idea. Adults that have no children or those who don’t….GASP! …have to take their children to those functions. Besides, parents who DO take their children to readings in drag and drag shows are exercising their parental rights, no? What about THOSE parents? I though republicans were all for parental rights and whatnot. That only they get to decide what is best for their children not government. Right? Why is government interfering in their right to decide?

        1. Svelaz: “Who says it’s grotesque mockery besides you? The majority of people don’t think so. Little children think a lot of things are funny or simply entertaining. It seems it’s the adults who are put off by the idea.”

Wow. You’re worse than I thought.

          1. I add another voice saying it is a mockery. So far, it is three respectable adults and one groomer. Are there any other groomers that wish to side with Svelaz?

            1. If Turley, Republicans or conservatives say that child molesters should go to prison Svelaz will say Trump should go to prison, DeSantis should go to prison, Turley works for Fox and he will go on to comment 200 times making the same asinine point over and over again.

White is black, day is night, good is bad, right is wrong are all positions that Svelaz will rake in order to be a) contrarian, b) a hack working for Democrats or just a seriously troubled moron.

              1. Hulbobby, people who dress in drag are not child molesters. Insinuating that they are is what conservatives and republicans do.

Some men who dress in drag who are not even trans or gay.

What you can’t grasp is the fact that YOU are being taken for a ride by those who are being paranoid about what happens at drag shows or reading to kids in drag. They are exploiting YOUR ignorance and gullibility to their advantage and they know YOU are an easy mark for their claims and fear mongering.

You still don’t know how to keep count and are generally upset that there are others who don’t comport or comply with what YOU think should be the norm. That is the price of having liberty and freedom for all, not just for those assert some form of moral superiority or mandate. You don’t seem to get it at all and use excuses that have no basis in reality to accuse others of exercising their liberty and freedom the way YOU don’t like.

            2. S. Meyer, anything critical of your view is automatically a “groomer”. That’s just shutting down the discussion because you don’t have an argument.

It still doesn’t answer the question to it’s a mockery to who? Women? Which women are complaining? I only see men complaining about it. It seems men, of you are one, are more triggered by the idea that other men can exercise their freedom to express their beliefs and views as freely as you do. You just add children in your opposition as an excuse to air YOUR views. Using children as a pretext to express YOUR views is cowardly. Why don’t you just say men shouldn’t t be wearing women’s clothes? Or that men can’t decide what they want to be and only what YOU believe they should be. It would be more honest instead of using children as a shield for YOUR views.

You don’t consider the fact that the children attending those events is ok with the parents who took them there. Meaning THEY are exercising their parental rights to decide what they do with their children’s upbringing. I thought republicans were all for parents rights and keeping government out of their business. Right?

              1. “S. Meyer, anything critical of your view is automatically a “groomer”.”

Svelaz, you don’t read very well. How many people have I called a groomer? Not many. In fact, you might be the only one. Do you see how stupid you act? Words slip by your fingers without any rhyme or reason. That is because you know nothing, are intellectually deficient, and are incompetent.

My only mistake in calling you a groomer was not being specific enough. I will correct that now. You are a stupid groomer.

          2. Diogenes, you didn’t answer the question. Rather than address the issue you avoid it because you don’t have an argument.

        2. Yeah, it’s true that some parents are afflicted with Munchausen’s Syndrome and expose their impressionable children to grown men, dressed like gross caricatures of women, and prance around mocking mothers. This seems to be a male thing since you don’t see women with gender dysphoria dressing up in outlandish costumes, pretending to be men and getting their kicks doing this in front of other peoples’ children.

    3. Mismanagement of finances?? Paying yourselves and family members millions of dollars is not mismanagement. Buying real estate worth millions of dollars for personal use is not mismanagement. I believe the correct term is embezzlement.

      1. Are these organizations not allowed to have salaries? Acquire property? How much they spend is not really embezzlement. You seem to attribute “millions” as embezzlement without any evidence other that “making millions and spending millions”. There needs to be more than just spending and making to proven embezzlement occurred.

        1. BLM thanks you. They are happy to have a crooked mind try to defend their actions.

          Unfortunately you failed.

    4. Turley seems to be getting sloppy with this reasoning skills.

Nothing exposes stupid like those that believe they know things.

      1. Iowan2, so…you’re saying you are…stupid? Makes sense. That’s quite an admission. Not your style, but good for you in admitting it. Admitting the problem is the first step congrats.

  3. I guess even extortion is no longer a money-making enterprise. Or maybe someone needed to take an apprenticeship course in extortion from some of the movement’s real leaders. (sarcasm)

    1. needed to take an apprenticeship course in extortion from some of the movement’s real leaders

Yes, If they had listened to Al Sharpton, he would have showed them the ropes. But they refused his advances. They didn’t want to forfeit a cut of their grift…and now they are broke. Always hire experts when the money is this big.

  4. Look at the very few people who became rich from the lies they perpetrated?
And look at the people who suffered from those lies?
    Including death.
    This is Marx.

  5. Need I say Flat Tax. No deductions or exemptions. No exemptions or deductions for any organizations. Elimination of the distinction between for profit, not for profit, tax exempt. All donors are above board and must be listed on the income tax form. All organizations contributing to another must publish all of its donors. Limit pass through organizations to 1. No strings of LLC’s and such. All for tax purposes of course.

  6. If prosecutors can use discretion on what cases they choose to persue. We’ll see if any prosecutors choose to really prosecute these grifters.

  7. Ahh. Even a *tiny* bit of poetic justice is good in the morning. BLM was a money making grift that manipulated people ignorant bordering on stupid, or people too terrified to lose a little comfort to speak honestly. I give not an ounce of sympathy on this one, it never for a second had anything to do with ‘race’. In fact, it dragged us progressively backward by a decades or even a century. Good riddance.

Some of us knew this was inevitable, but the unhinged woke prefer to do things the hard way than listen to those who are wiser.

      1. They learned what from Trump’s operations? It is a pronoun that you are using because you don’t know what it is.

That is all we get from the slow-witted leftists that fail in their goal of being perceived as intelligent.

        1. Huh? You don’t know how to follow a thread? Do you read at all?

It seems YOU don’t know what it is. If you can’t figure out that I was responding to James and used the pronoun “They” to figure out that it was referring to BLM then you are the problem. You don’t seem to have the intelligence to figure out how a discussion thread works. I wouldn’t be insulting others about intelligence when YOU can’t figure out how to follow a thread, especially one with TWO posts. You really walked into that one didn’t you? Talk about looking stupid, geez.

          1. We know you engage in guesswork when you speak and therefore do not make sense, but why did you have to prove that again?

            1. You’re just trying to save face from that embarrassing comment you made. You showed us all that you don’t know how to follow a thread and figure out why a pronoun was used and what it referred to. 4th graders know this. Why don’t you? You are an adult, right?

              1. I can’t help it if you are inadequate and unable to write a paragraph correctly. It is your responsibility to write clearly, so others don’t have to guess what you mean.

                  1. The above reply. 1:49 PM, with a link was to “Huh? You don’t know how to follow a thread? “ Is anonymous using his disappearing trick again?

  8. So BLM is buying mansions in Toronto. Looks like they are already plotting their escape to Canada. Sounds eerily similar to the “Boys From Brazil” to me. Sadly, that says as much about Canada is it does about BLM.

    1. And I can already anticipate what the troll squad will be clattering about after they wake up from a pool of puke, urine, and leftover Bud Light: “But what about the NRA??”

Let’s talk about the NRA. The NRA addressed the recent controversies there, and the members are generally satisfied. The NRA always provided substantial services to its members and always will. And the NRA is standing and fighting and not fleeing the US despite political persecution by a much-hated BLM attorney general in NY.

Let’s hope Letitia James someday gets a room in Toronto.

      1. “And the NRA is standing and fighting and not fleeing the US despite political persecution by a much-hated BLM attorney general in NY.”

LOL!!! The NRA tried to flee the state of NY to avoid charges. They were denied by the courts. They were not “standing and fighting” they literally tried to move out of NY so they could avoid scrutiny of their activities.

“In a bizarre statement Friday, the NRA, which has its physical headquarters in Fairfax, Va., said the plan “involves utilizing the protection of the bankruptcy court.” And it explained that the move will facilitate its exit from “a corrupt political and regulatory environment in New York. The move will enable long-term, sustainable growth and ensure the NRA’s continued success as the nation’s leading advocate for constitutional freedom – free from the toxic political environment of New York.”

        https://deadline.com/2021/01/nra-bankruptcy-gun-lobby-under-investigation-hurls-insults-at-ny-state-plans-to-reincorporate-in-texas-1234675087/amp/

They tried to cut and run rather than….stand and fight. LOL!!!!

They filed for bankruptcy too. Because they were using the NRA as their personal piggy bank….like BLM. LOL!!!!

        1. Svelaz, welcome to Thunderdome. The NRA is staying and fighting in the US. It’s BLM that is fleeing to Canada, using stolen loot to buy mansions.

I don’t blame the NRA for wanting to leave NY, nor do many New Yorkers. Nobody wants to stay in NY except schizophrenics and thugs. That system is rigged. Alvin Bragg is living proof.

          1. “Svelaz, welcome to Thunderdome. The NRA is staying and fighting in the US. It’s BLM that is fleeing to Canada, using stolen loot to buy mansions.”

Why would they leave the country? They couldn’t even try to stay in their own state. They were denied their “flight to safety in Texas” because they knew they didn’t have a good defense about their fraudulent executives activities.

BLM is not fleeing to Canada. They have no reason to. The mansion in Canada was purchased years ago. Did you not know that? They were expanding at the time. The NRA cannot function outside the country because that would undermine the whole point of being the NRA. They are 2nd amendment supporters. The 2nd amendment does not have any value outside the country. On the other hand racism issues are universal. Therefore expanding to Canada makes more sense than the NRA operating outside the jurisdiction of the constitution’s guarantees in another country. Besides what country would they go to? Most countries have stricter gun control measures than we do. LOL!!!

            1. Svelaz: “BLM is not fleeing to Canada. They have no reason to. The mansion in Canada was purchased years ago.”

Nobody buys a mansion anywhere for political purposes. They buy them as an insurance policy. BLM members will flee to Canada because they will be prosecuted by some honest US states for fraud.

Unlike the DNC, which keeps its corruption in blue states to avoid prosecution, BLM overreached. They’re not even competent at corruption and racketeering.

Svelaz: “they knew they didn’t have a good defense about their fraudulent executives activities.”

They tried to leave because conservatives can’t get a fair trial in Albany.

              1. Diogenes,

“Nobody buys a mansion anywhere for political purposes. They buy them as an insurance policy. BLM members will flee to Canada because they will be prosecuted by some honest US states for fraud.”

A mansion can be converted into a headquarters and nothing says they can’t be used for political purposes which so why they bought it in the first place. You can buy a mansion for ANY reason. The bought it years ago when they were thinking of expanding their cause. Going to Canada is not evidence that they were planning to flee. Mismanagement is not fraud unless it involves intent to defraud or violate their 501(3)c status. They have done none of that. All they are being accused of is spending money unwisely or making bad decisions that cost them money.

The NRA got into trouble because INSIDERS in the organization ratted out the leadership of abusing the NRA’s finances for personal gain. NRA members called out their own and an investigation ensued. Turley didn’t mention that because it would undermine his own attempt to portray a false narrative about BLM.

“They tried to leave because conservatives can’t get a fair trial in Albany.”

No, they tried to leave because they knew they didn’t have a good defense and the evidence against them came from their own members. They were trying to avoid accountability by fleeing to a “safe” state like Texas. You know not abiding by the law. GASP!! They literally tried not to abide by NY law by trying to flee to another state. That’s not a good example of “law abiding citizens”. Right?

“Unlike the DNC, which keeps its corruption in blue states to avoid prosecution, BLM overreached.”

What does the DNC have to do with any of this? You’re just throwing out BS because you don’t have an argument. BLM overreached? What did it overreach? That it spent too much? How is that illegal or criminal? They mismanaged their funding. That’s not a crime. Notice Turley is not accusing them of fraud. The NRA has been accused of fraud by their own members.

                1. Svelaz: “Turley didn’t mention that because it would undermine his own attempt to portray a false narrative about BLM.”

He didn’t mention it because James is going after the NRA while downplaying prosecutions of BLM. She’s not interested in fixing the NRA, and she’s not interested in fixing BLM either. She wants to destroy the NRA and shield BLM from real consequences.

                  1. Diogenes,

“He didn’t mention it because James is going after the NRA while downplaying prosecutions of BLM.‘

James is going after the NRA because their own members, executives ratted the leadership out because they were using the organization as their own personal piggy bank in violation of their 501(3)c status. Their own members presented evidence of fraud and self dealing to the NY AG.

BLM his not being accused of the same. You WANT BLM to be prosecuted because they mismanaged their money and you think that’s enough to “take down” the organization YOU despise because it’s…BLM. Your racist tendencies are showing. You already tried to claim James is BLM because she’s black. LOL!!

James is focusing on the NRA because their own members SUED the leadership for abuses in the organization and provided PROOF that they were violating their 501(3)c status. Turley avoids those pesky facts because it does undermine the false narrative he’s feeding you.

                    1. Prosecutors can pick and choose which cases to persue. I think AG James has shown us what direction she’s going in.

                    2. You WANT BLM to be prosecuted because they mismanaged their money and you think that’s enough to “take down” the organization

As usual, comprehension is absent. BLM is bankrupt. Its leaders are exposed as really bad race scammers. There association with any charity would be toxic to that charity. The leaders were never going to be prosecuted by leftist prosecutors, because leftist are corrupt.

So BLM is already “taken down”

                2. Svelaz: “They mismanaged their funding. That’s not a crime.”

HA! Yes, it is a crime. You have an overly generous interpretation of racketeering.

                  1. They are not being accused of racketeering. What they done is nowhere near that definition. You just WANT it to be because you don’t like the organization.

  9. Did you actually say this:
“One can hardly blame Cullors despite criticism by some on the left for going on a buying spree of luxury properties.”
And she took millions from Warner Brothers for a project, presumably with a written contract and did not put in the work.
I can blame her a lot. It is embezzlement and theft and the only reason she is not in prison is our dual system of justice.
BLM is a protection racket in spandex.

  10. “Warner Bros. [. . .] gave Cullors a lucrative contract to guide the company . . .”

The greatest benefactors of capitalism supporting the ideological destroyers of capitalism. It is by such contradictions that America is crumbling.

    1. @Sam

I suspect they knew what they were doing, just covering their bases. They had no intention of following through, hence: grift. That might be just as evil. The fools posting black squares everywhere were simply the useful idiot lemmings, whom get grifted from too to bottom over and over again due to their mental instability and ignorance.

  11. The impression from the very start was that it was not a legal nonprofit and that it was acting merely as a pass-through for Democrat campaign donations. Yet I have never seen this discussed in media. And I don’t know why because obviously if BLM is not legally incorporated as a nonprofit it owes tax on all of this money. Asking lives that matter to pay tax on income is what, somehow grossly prejudicial? Asking people to conduct business within the confines of the law is prejudicial? And yet those who do supplement social services with crime, or crime with services, as many do, do expect those who don’t to continue contributing that revenue right?

    1. BLM has filed with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization, along with several other apparently related organizations. I did not bother to read the Form 990s, available on the IRS website, but go ahead — it’s an easy search. You may find nuggets of information there to pursue further.
Note: the IRS is behind in processing filings, so the info is not as of the most current filing.
Charity Navigator also has info on the related entities, along with a caveat that they are, or may be, under state investigation…..

  12. It’s high time people realize all of these so called “activist groups” are nothing more than latter day protection rackets.

“Nice company you’ve got there. Shame if something happened to it”.

  13. It’s hilarious going to rich white enclaves, like Easton, MD or Concord, MA, and seeing their churches adorned with large BLM banners. Faith is a funny thing. I suppose when you believe that the savior is a part of you, you gotta save, and those redneck magas who can’t afford to live in your hood (and likely are not descended from land or ship-owning slavers, unlike Angela Davis) look like they need you.

  14. I wrote it before and I’ll write it again. Perhaps you’ll publish it now. Corruption has no complexion, sex, gender, sexual, religious, social, economic, or political orientation. Only moral and ethical turpitude. So let it be for black, lives matter who had their shot at the brass ring, and all those knaves and fools who supported them and continue support of others of their ilk.

  15. So much to discuss here:

Cullors is “one of the most influential ‘thought’ leaders….” Imagine spewing such nonsense. Just think about saying that this woman was going to create all of this content, fiction, non-fiction, children’s stories etc etc.
    “We are ‘trained’ Marxists”.
    “Capitalism is worse than Covid-19”.
Any criticism was censored by Facebook and Twitter.
AG Letitia James turned a blind eye as she went after the NRA. This is what morons leftist hacks and Democratic operatives like Svelaz claim is just “prosecutorial discretion”. What a joke. It isn’t “prosecutorial discretion” it is a DOUBLE STANDARD for thpse on the left.

As for Cullors and BLM, we have seen this SHAKEDOWN, as MRR called it, done profitably by Al Sharpton for years. The racist Jew hating “Reverend” was invited to be on the stage at a debate for the Democrat nominee TO BE PRESIDENT and now has a show on MSNBC. Imagine a white racist David Duke getting a show on a major network. ( TO Svelaz and “Anonymous” who say that Fox is the worst, name a person on Fox who can be compared to Sharpton or Joy Reid). The shakedown thing started with Jesse Jackson, another “reverend” who was also invited to be a participant at a Democrat debate for president.

    1. The big question is, can the USA recover from the destruction the left has wrought on it? Personally, I doubt it. Sin rules most these days, and it’s not letting up. What was once good, is now portrayed as bad, and evil is trumpeted as what’s good. Morality is disappearing all too fast. Complete destruction is coming. And if some do wake up, it’ll be way too late.

  16. I hope DC leaves the huge BLACK LIVES MATTER sign painted on a downtown street there for all to admire.

    1. But officer, I thought it said “YIELD RIGHT OF WAY” and no one was coming so I never saw the stop sign.

As I told the officer, your Honor, I thought it said “YIELD RIGHT OF WAY”, so I never saw the stop sign.

  17. Some of us knew from the very beginning that BLM was a scam and Cullors was a race-hustling con artist. Just saying.

    1. Gio, anyone with half a brain knew it was a scam and it was so frustrating watching all of the morons fall for it. Remember Pelosi and Schumer kneeling with the virtue signaling cloth around their necks? Remember white people washing the feet of black people to “atone” for some imagined sin? Remember the nurses and doctors that told us if we left our homes we would be killing them coming to the front of the hospital to cheer on the protests? We couldn’t go see our parents, Church, cancer screenings, the gym, the beach or even the hardware store…but you could gather 10,000 people to scream in each others face. The country is a clown show thanks to the left.

      1. I am totally with hullbobby on his comments. It was obviously a scam from the first. The only question was whether it would be successful and how far would it go. Definitely a shakedown when a “thought leader’ basically runs a protection racket.
But there is opportunity here if no action is taken, since a republican administration might be able to swoop down in 2025 for prosecution of these financial crimes.
And, of course, there is Al Sharpton on site to scoop up a few giblets of flèsh before the corpse is entirely stripped clean.
Lastly Maybe Warner Bros has learned something by cutting ties with BLM and instead hiring James Gunn who actually knows how to make movies and successful ones at that.
Corporate America-well maybe some are learning, hopefully, that knowing you customers, and turning out desired and useful products at competitive prices, remaining apolitical and out of the news is desirable.
How much training does a “Trained Marxist” need. A few days running side hustles on the street corner, or lots of talk in coffee houses or beer halls?

      2. So what Hullbobby is saying is that he doesn’t like freedom of expression and liberty because they are not expressing it the way he wants. Plus it’s a lot of whining about people expressing their views and outrage. How dare them express them in a way he doesn’t like. Hullbobby seems get triggered by the notion that there are others who express their disapproval of something in ways that he gets to determine is not the correct way. He still has issues understanding what “freedom of expression” entails and freedom of speech.

        1. So what Hullbobby is saying is that he doesn’t like freedom of expression and liberty because they are not expressing it the way he wants.

You make up stuff not there, and ignore actual facts.

It was the govt that shut done people exercising their enumerated right to worship as the liked.

Not a single comment here has demanded any expression be limited, or censored.

          1. Iowan2,

‘Not a single comment here has demanded any expression be limited, or censored.“

Nope, Hullbobby, is critical of those who express their views in ways he declares are expressed wrong or according to how he deems it appropriate.

Banning drag shows and reading to kids in drags and SUPPORTING the idea IS no different than demanding that such expressions and actions be limited or censored. Nearly every comment supports the idea. So your claim that no comment demands any expression be limited or censored is BS.

So, do you support a ban on drag shows. Reading to kids in drag?

            1. “Nope, Hullbobby, is critical of those who express their views in ways he declares are expressed wrong or according to how he deems it appropriate.”

Nope, Hullbobby is critical of incompetent liars.

  18. Al Shartpton, Jesse Jackson, BLM.

But lets not call them race scammers.

On the other end of spectrum, are all the White Supremisct, that hold their reginal meeting covering six states, in the meeting room at Perkins. And they get 70% of their funding from the FBI.

  19. In every State in the nation this is known as a Shakedown!! It is exactly what the RICO statute was designed for!!
