No, the “Appeal to Heaven” Flag is Not a “Christian Nationalist Flag”

During the ridiculous controversy over flags flying at the house of Justice Samuel Alito, the media and the left went into vapors over the inclusion of the “Free Pine” flag” or “Appeal to Heaven” flag — a flag with origins in the American Revolution. As I wrote at the time, this flag is neither racist nor extremist. Now, the controversy is back after a USA Today article by congressional reporter Zach Schermele, who wrote about how the “controversial Christian nationalist flag is hanging outside the D.C. office of a top Education Department official.” Continue reading “No, the “Appeal to Heaven” Flag is Not a “Christian Nationalist Flag””

“Hatemongers, Homophobes, Fascists, Racists, Flag-Waving Proud Racists”: Fired Radio Host Has Meltdown Over Cubs Infielder Matt Shaw Going to Kirk Funeral

Dan Bernstein is back with a vengeance. Just last year, the sports radio show host was fired after a tirade against critics that led to his threatening to doxx people on social media and asking “want your kids involved?” He later apologized, but is now again in the news with another vicious attack. This week, Bernstein denounced Chicago Cubs infielder Matt Shaw for going to the funeral of Charlie Kirk, who was the victim of a political assassination. Bernstein called anyone attending the funeral effective Nazis and mocked Shaw for his expressions of faith in connection to Kirk. Cover-Up or Frame-Up? How the Democratic Epstein Releases are a Classic Example of False Light

Many years ago, as a law student, I had the honor of working with the great prosecutor William J. Kunkle Jr., who put away John Wayne Gacy. I was a young intern at the litigation firm of Phelan, Pope & John and loved listening to Bill’s stories about his famous cases. I even had to take a couple of calls from Gacy from prison when Bill was out. (I was asked to write down everything that he would say in the routine calls. On one call, Gacy told me, “Tell Bill he was wrong. I was not guilty of homicide. I was guilty of running an indoor funeral parlor without a license.”). One story of Bill’s came to mind last night when Democrats released their latest tranche of “bombshell” photos from the Epstein files to suggest that Trump is implicated in the scandal. Continue reading “Cover-Up or Frame-Up? How the Democratic Epstein Releases are a Classic Example of False Light”

CBS Staffers Attack New Anchor as Too White, Straight, Male and Pro-Israel

CBS has long been a network in decline. With dismal ratings, the network has been mired in third place for years, and many view it as openly biased and partisan in its coverage, including pushing false stories with a political agenda. Bari Weiss was brought in to save the network and move it back to a neutral center. She has encountered continued attacks from staff who are outraged by the efforts, including her recent selection of Tony Dokoupil as the next evening anchor. Dokoupil is being attacked as too white, male, straight, and pro-Israel. Continue reading “CBS Staffers Attack New Anchor as Too White, Straight, Male and Pro-Israel”

“An Impeachable Moment”: Impeachment Mania Returns in Time for the Midterm Elections

The military has long had a saying that “when you only have a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.” When it comes to impeachment power, Democrats have long acted as if every problem is a high crime and misdemeanor. After two impeachments against President Donald Trump (including what I labeled as an infamous “snap impeachment“), Democratic politicians and pundits are back calling for the impeachment of President Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Continue reading ““An Impeachable Moment”: Impeachment Mania Returns in Time for the Midterm Elections”

Boston Judge (Again) Intervenes to Force Payments to Planned Parenthood

District Court Judge Indira Talwani in Boston has been one of the most active judges in the country in seeking to enjoin the orders of President Donald Trump, including her orders to prevent deportations under previously “paroled” immigrants under the Biden Administration. She previously sought to enjoin the denial of federal funds to Planned Parenthood, an order that the United States Court of Appeals lifted for the First Circuit pending appeal. Now, Judge Talwani is back with a new basis for forcing payments to Planned Parenthood despite Congress barring Medicaid funds under the Big Beautiful Bill.

New York Times Debunks War Crime Story By the Washington Post

The pattern is all too familiar. The Washington Post runs a story with a sensational claim: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ordered the killing of survivors of one of the first boat attacks back in September — a coup de grace or finishing shot that would constitute a war crime. The Post appears to have had only one source making the specific claim about Hegseth, but ran with the story. What followed was a line of politicians and pundits calling for the usual criminal charges, impeachments, and resignations. Then, various sources, including the New York Times, debunked the story. Welcome to Hotel California: Democrats Push Retroactive Billionaire Tax

California was once known as the destination for anyone seeking a fortune, from the Gold Rush to Hollywood. The image of a line of wagon trains heading West has now been replaced by a line of U-Hauls heading anywhere but California. Unable to stem the exodus, California is again toying with retroactive taxes — targeting the wealthy regardless of whether they flee the state. Welcome to Hotel California, “you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.” Continue reading “Welcome to Hotel California: Democrats Push Retroactive Billionaire Tax”

It is Time to End Our Sedition Addiction

Below is my column in USA Today on the revival of sedition as a speech crime in the United States. Despite my criticism of the Democratic members of Congress over their recent message to American military personnel, this is not a prosecutorial offense and would collapse quickly in court. More importantly, it is the return of a crime long ago criticized by James Madison as a “monster” that should not be prosecuted in the United States.

Here is the column: Continue reading “It is Time to End Our Sedition Addiction”

A German Court May Have Just Shattered One of the Biden Era’s Biggest Lies

Below is my column in The Hill on the latest development in the investigation of the environmental crimes committed in the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines in the waters near Denmark and Sweden in 2022. The German court issued an arrest warrant for a Ukrainian in a move that could prove an embarrassment for not just Volodymyr Zelensky but Joe Biden. The truth is still unknown with allegations against both Russia and Ukraine. There are “false flags” flying on both sides that dismiss clues pointing to one country or the other. However, the Germans appear to be zeroing in on key Ukrainian figures.

Do Good Politics Make for Good Grammar? Users of Grammarly Receive Prompts on Supporting Ukraine

This weekend, I had a curious experience in writing my column on the Hill discussing whether Ukraine committed environmental crimes in the destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines and then lied to its allies while receiving billions in aid. While writing the column, the Grammarly program automatically ran to check for typos. Suddenly, a message from the company popped up in the box for possible grammar problems. It was actually a message about my need to support Ukraine. Continue reading “Do Good Politics Make for Good Grammar? Users of Grammarly Receive Prompts on Supporting Ukraine”

Trump Did It: Wasserman Schultz Accuses the President of Causing the Shooting of National Guard Members

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) has long performed a key role for many on the left. When there is an argument barred by decency or decorum, Wasserman Schultz is happy to make it, from attacking journalists in her defense of censorship to attempting to rig an election and bar Republicans from ballots as part of her defense of democracy. However, on Friday, the Florida representative set a new low in American politics: attempting to assign some of the blame for the shooting of two National Guardsmen on President Donald Trump. Amy Klobuchar Holds Embarrassing Demonstration of Confirmation Bias in Attack that Goes Wildly Wrong

In academia, one of the greatest concerns with statistical studies is the danger of “confirmation bias” or “myside bias.” A desire to prove a point can lead to a blindness to opposing data or information. This week, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D., Minn.) repeatedly demonstrated the scourge of statistical studies with spectacular and embarrassing success. Continue reading “Amy Klobuchar Holds Embarrassing Demonstration of Confirmation Bias in Attack that Goes Wildly Wrong”

Willis Circus Ends as “Reasonable Minds” Prevail in the Final Dismissal of the Trump Case

In her sometimes bizarre and often combative testimony, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis explained, “I just think men and women think differently.” At least when it comes to Pete Skandalakis, she is demonstrably correct.  Serving as Willis’s replacement after her removal from the Trump case for personal misconduct in hiring her former lover as lead prosecutor, Skandalakis found the case against Trump and his associates worthy of dismissal. In so doing, he suggested (as did many of us) that the entire foundation for the case was flawed from the outset. Tick, Tick , Tick: Study Shows California is Losing a Taxpayer Every Minute

California is facing a perfect storm in finances, with a crippling deficit and a declining tax base. Now, a study of IRS data by the National Taxpayers Union Foundation found that California is losing a taxpayer roughly every minute, as states like Florida, Texas, and North Carolina attract new residents due to lower taxes and higher standards of living.
