The first issue by Charlie Hebdo will hit the streets today with a cover featuring a cartoon of Mohammed in defiance of Muslim extremists. The magazine will be offered “in 16 languages” for readers around the world and many are lining up to buy it to show solidarity with the magazine and free speech values after the massacre of 12 innocent people at the magazine.
The printing of 3 million is presumably a record for the magazine which often printed 60,000 copies a week, selling 30,000.
On the cover, Muhammad is shown with a tear streaming down his cheek, and holding a sign: “Je Suis Charlie” — “I Am Charlie.” Overhead is the phrase “Tout est pardonne”, or “All is forgiven.” The cover was drawn by cartoonist Rénald Luzier, known professionally as “Luz”.
The mass printing could trigger more worldwide protests in a confrontation between Muslim fundamentalists and free speech advocates.

issac: Good comment about the competency of the French. I personally believed before the recent attacks in France, that the U.S. should not be the exemplary nation state and police the world alone. France, in my view, is the best ally in these pirate territories. I might make fun of them by calling them Frogs but I do respect them. In a prior life I was a Frog. A French Frog not a four legged frog. Alsace. Spoke German. This was before 1871 when the Krauts took it back but Alsace then was Deutsch. Look at the names of some towns on the present day map. All that aside, cutting to the developments of the recent days, I do see ground troops on the ground in those pirate territories very soon. There will probably be another terrorist attack in the next few days. They will probably sink the Lusitania or some ship out there on the Atlantic. Or maybe they will hi jack another plane and ram it somewhere. These terrorists are busy little astardBays of late.

The surgery I speak of is whatever is the most accurate and most effective. If drone strikes are part of it then so be it. Google the French Foreign Legion and review their history. A few hundred well equipped, well trained, and well informed soldiers can decimate several thousand thugs. If they call in drone strikes as well, great, if they direct air assaults then great. The point is the West has the capacity to cut out these cancers and countries like Great Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland that, in their colonial heydays, created much of the problems, have an obligation to assist in neutralizing the thugs. The US is a latecomer to the ‘Great Game’ but obligated never the less. When you mess with the leadership of a country, you kind of get attached to the results. Go in, remove the cancer, and help the countries evolve with the minimum of chaos. Obama has a chance here to do some good. Unfortunately whatever he does will be criticized by the Republican side. But, that is all they got.

I also pray for buffoons who comment on the internet who pretend they “know” things about others they never met. This is a special class of buffoonery that needs very fervent prayers. I’d like to start a prayer group just for that purpose.

Little righty terrorits use the tactic of character assassination, or at least they try. But the attempts are often so completely off the mark, I sometimes wonder who they are speaking about, lol.
I’m not kidding when I say I pray for little righty terrorits. Perhaps God is speaking to them, telling them all about people who they don’t know and have never met on the internet. I’m so happy God graced me with four of my own children and lots of good friends and extended family that laugh their asses off when I tell them about the little righty terrorists who comment on blogs and pretend they “know” things about strangers. My friends and family think these people are very WIERD and probably pathological.
Olly, I am not kidding when I say I pray for joyless, angry, lonely people. It’s tough to do. But, it’s easy to pray for nice people. It’s easy to help nice people. Jesus wants us to help and be nice to nasty people. And, being cool w/ Jesus makes me a happy person. It’s challenging @ times, but being happily married for 37 years, having someone to share my life w/, is EVERYTHING.
