Chip Harrison was driving in Oklahoma City when he was stopped by a member of the Oklahoma City Police Department for displaying a sign on his car critical of President Obama. The officer confiscated the sign saying “Abort Obama Not the Unborn” under the theory that the Secret Service might view it as a threat on the President’s life — ignoring that he would first have to be returned to a fetal state .

Texas Judge Sharon Keller is having a bad month. Just last week, there was a move in the legislature to impeach her. Now the state judicial ethics commission has charged her with violating her duty and bringing discredit upon the judiciary. It is hard to be sympathetic with her position, however, given Judge Keller’s decision to told the Clerk’s office to close in 2007 when attorneys were rushing over with an after-hours final death row appeal for Michael Richards — who was then executed.

North Dakota appears intent on triggering another round of litigation in the hopes of overturning Roe v. Wade. North Dakota’s House of Representatives has voted 51-41 to declare that a fertilized egg has all the rights of any person. The vote would make abortion murder.

Japan’s Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa has announced that he will resign after getting drunk at last weekend’s G7 summit in Rome. The video is below. It may be a bad economic sign when the finance ministers of major countries are self-medicating in this fashion.

Gov. Sarah Palin has joined the ranks of politicians with tax problems. Palin has been informed that she must pay income taxes on thousands of dollars in expense money claimed while living at her Wasilla home. It is not exactly the stuff of “small town values”: Palin charged $17,000 for meals and incidentals for 312 nights spent in her own house. It appears that such charges are perfectly legal and need only to be taxed.

Newsweek is reporting that former Attorney General Michael Mukasey delayed a critical internal report on the conduct of senior Justice lawyers in the torture scandal, including Jay Bybee, John Yoo and Steven Bradbury. The delayed report not only adds another contradiction to Mukasey’s claims before Congress, but should add pressure on the Obama Administration to stop delaying a criminal investigation into the commission of war crimes by the Bush Administration.
Mohammed Fagirad, 30, a vice consul at the Afghanistan Consulate, in New York has been arrested for beating his 22-year-old wife for 15 hours in their Queens home. Police report that Fagirad told them that his “wife was a dog and he was going to treat her like a dog,”

Texas Rep. Lon Burnam has filed a resolution seeking an impeachment investigation of Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Sharon Keller, who has been denounced around the world for her refusal to keep a court office open to allow the filing of a late appeal in a death case. The prisoner, Michael Richard, was executed that night.

Pakistan appears to have end the conflict with the Taliban but yielding to their extremist demands in northwest Pakistan. Under a new accord, Islamic rule will be allowed in the region and Pakistan will back off from its attempt to control the region. The result will likely increase the violence in Afghanistan and power of the Taliban.

Muzzammil Hassan, 44, the founder of an Islamic television station in New York, has been charged with beheading of his wife, Aasiya Hassan, 37. Ironically, Hassan founded the Bridges TV station in Buffalo to dispel stereotypes of Muslims and has now contributed to such stereotypes in his alleged murder of his wife. She was murdered at the Bridges television offices.

There are growing calls for a perjury investigation of Senator Roland W. Burris of Illinois after he acknowledged that the brother of former Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich sought campaign fund-raising help before his appointment to succeed Barack Obama in the Senate. Burris notably failed to mention the demand in prior sworn statements.

Students of Hampshire College are complaining of harassing or intimidating telephone calls. Nothing new there, such calls can be common particularly when the students are leading a political cause. Yet, the alleged caller was Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, who they claim was upset over their effort to get the school to divest from Israel. They allege that Dershowitz (who had a child go to Hampshire) has been calling students and threatening to organize a boycott of the school.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) appear to be intent on getting the first XXX rating for political advocacy. Just last month, PETA attempted to air a commercial during the Superbowl in which stripping models had sexual moments with various vegetables. Now in Downtown El Paso, PETA arranged for two half-dressed woman to make love in public on a blow-up mattress.
