It has come to this. We are facing a 50 vote deficit with ten days left in the battle for the blogoshere. It is time to pull out the video that most captures the moment (as supplied by Mespo). You are not the first to face an overwhelming army with many assuming certain defeat.
Do you want the orcs to win? Do you want Frodo Baggins stuffed and used as a plaything for Uruk-hai children? Who among us will return to the safety of our virtual homes rather than hold the line?
We need 50 bloggers to step forward and join us at the Black Gate of the ABA competition.
FFL,
I sure get a ton of laughs out of you.
I love your sense of humor 🙂
FF LEO–
That’s right it ain’t over–cuz I haven’t heard any corpulent chanteuse exercising her vocal chords yet.
In case the Turley blawg doesn’t prevail in the ABA competition–I wrote a short verse to comfort us Turleyistas.
Here’s my takeoff of an excerpt from Verse XXVII of Alfred Lord Tennyson’s “In Memoriam A.H.H.”
I hold it true, whate’er befall;
I feel it, when Turley’s tempest tossed;
‘Tis better to have blogged and lost
Than never to have blogged at all.
Folks, ‘Fesser T. juss caint win without votes.
As an old man who has beent kicked from piller tae post n’ back a’gin, scarred n’ pummelled, lost loves unrequited n’ otherwise–mostly ‘cause I caint keep my mouth shut–theys’ sometimes, even when you are right as rain, that still, you juss caint win…
My favorite rendition of the song by the lovely Ms. Linda Ronstadt and her one-time boyfriend Mr. John D. Souther.
Given the snow storm in ‘Fesser’s region, accompanied by the blawg vote count, these lyrics fit–in more ways than one..
“Just when the sun shines the brightest
And the world looks alright again
Then the clouds fill the skies
You can’t believe your eyes
Sometimes you just can’t win”
FFLEO,
This contest ends Dec. 31, 2009. Until then, it ain’t over!
Yeah, if you *believe* in the afterlife, eternity, reincarnation, and leanin’ on the everlastin’ arms…maybe…
No way, this shows the escape to freedom!
Yes, Jill, the Great Turley Blawg Ship is a’sinkin’ and thar aint no pill for this type mornin’ after…
That quote was from: “Secrets of the Ninja by Ashida Kim.
No, I think a plot is afoot. I noticed the same things as Nal and Mespo. I suggest the employment of Ninja Arts: “It was said in ancient times that a Ninja cast no shadow> …In all these things, it is essential that you observe the enemy without being observed by him…It cannot be stressed too highly that silence and careful consideration are the keys to this phase of Ninjitsu.”
Well, as y’all know, I am a very calm, shy, timid, mild-mannered non-sexist man and all of this talk of war-for-votes and scary Amazonian wimmin, has me upset and outta’ sorts with all of the violence.
Therefore, I pose this song that helped Abe Lincoln win election to the Presidency in 1860 to boost votes for Turley’s Blawg.
Ronnie Gilbert, once the female for The Weavers (1940s-60s), was my first infatuation with an older woman back in the early 1950s
Turley and Liberty Too!
I just heard on Fax News that there are rumors of a massive internet voter fraud operating in favor of the Legal Satryicon blog. The news journalist stated the information provided by a high ABA source places the blame on the Obama Administration. Nothing short of a full Congresssional hearing and investigation into the matter will suffice.
Remember folks, the first reaction to any ‘election’ by votes is that the loser always claims voter fraud–that is a given.
This fact remains; there are other very good blawgs in Turley’s category that deserve more votes too.
The Legal Satyricon is a valid First Amendment blawg; I just think that the categories this year are all askew; such messes of which only lawyers are capable.
Regardless, we all know that there are no blawgs that excel Turley’s.
I’ve voted! In the interest of winning I also placed a vote from my mother, brother, my siamese cat Maggie and golden lab Diablo. Next up will be a vote from my aloe vera plant, Smoothie. But you’re always a winner w/us JT:)
Merry Christmas!
I’m with you Nal. The burst happened right after we pulled to within 10 votes which makes me suspicious given no visible campaign on the blog and no other nominated blog getting anywhere near that sort of support.
Maybe I’m naturally suspicious, but The Legal Satyricon blog has many fewer commenters than the Jonathan Turley blog, and yet they are ahead of us in votes. I smell a rat.
My money’s on just one PMS’d Xena-Warrior a’gin all them helmented men warriors. (JK)
You fellas launch a frontal attack. We gals will assault from the rear. That is, unless you’d like to reverse that tactical approach to the battle.
As Abigail Adams might say: Don’t forget Xena and the rest of the ladies!

Elaine:
Your feminist critique is moving and filled the blog with a collective sense of self-loathing. Xena shall be add to our video library of inspiring clips.
Of course, Bella Abzug could have taken her in thirty seconds while holding her over-sized hat.
I wonder how many votes the former target employees would be worth?
