JD Vance is a marked man. After accepting the nomination for vice president, Vance has been the subject of endless media attacks. Recently, Vice President Kamala Harris even questioned his “loyalty” to the country despite his serving as a Marine in the Iraq War. Yet, one of the most chilling attacks came from Germany where the publishing house Ullstein Buchverlage has stopped printing the sold-out German translation of Hillbilly Elegy, his 2016 autobiography.
As we have discussed previously in this country, it is the modern left’s equivalent of book burning. After all, why burn books when you can simply prevent their being printed under blacklisting campaigns?
In this country, we have seen the left successfully force book bans for writers and even justices who espouse opposing viewpoints. We have seen actual calls for book burning recently (here and here).
Ullstein is facing a high demand for Vance’s best-selling book Hillbilly Elegy, but has refused to print more copies due to his political viewpoints (unrelated to the book).
First published in 2016 and made into a movie in 2020, the book returned to the top position on The New York Times‘ bestseller list after Trump chose Vance as his running mate.
HarperCollins is rushing to print more books to meet the demand.
Some in the United States are already balking at the selling of any book by Vance. Seven Stories Press wrote, “Seven Stories Press is extremely thrilled to have never published JD Vance.”
Ullstein published the German translation of Hillbilly Elegy in 2017 and held the rights to reprints.
The company cited Vance’s allegiance with Trump and his politics as the reason in a statement to German media:
“At the time of its publication, the book made a valuable contribution to understanding the drifting apart of US society…In the meantime, he is officially acting alongside him and advocating an aggressively demagogic, exclusionary policy.”
German author Gerd Buurmann posted a mocking response that we should be happy that Ullstein had just thrown Vance’s book out of its catalogue and not into the fire – a reference to the notorious Nazi book burnings of the 1930s.
Other Germans have raised the same objections and referenced the painful history of book bans and burnings in Germany under the Nazis.
German readers want to read the book, which Ullstein acknowledged is one of the most influential works of this generation. However, because the company disagrees with his political viewpoints, it moved to block others from reading the book.
We have seen similar campaigns leading to the banning or burning of books by figures like JK Rowling because of her opposition to some transgender policies. The left now protests any programs on Rowling’s work and opposes the selling of her enormously popular Harry Potter series or even video games based on the series. When authors have defended her right to be published, they have also been subjected to cancel campaigns.
Yet, Ullstein’s decision is particularly chilling as a publishing house. Again, we have seen editors at publishing houses sign petitions to bar books by conservative figures like Justice Amy Coney Barrett from being published.
In 1933, thousands of books by Jewish and leftist writers were burned throughout Germany. Publishing houses further banned the printing of these books. The books were announced as corrupting the minds of German citizens. Many books were banned or burned on the basis of the authors being Jewish or known socialists or anarchists.
Now the left has developed a taste for censorship and blacklisting. Editors and publishing houses are blacklisting those with conservative or libertarian views as forms of dangerous viewpoints or disinformation.
Ullstein will, of course, not stop people from reading the work of JD Vance. While it may make it more difficult for Germans to find copies, ideas like water have a way of finding their way out. Blacklisting and censorship have not succeeded in killing a single idea. What it does is reveal the true character and values of those who want to prevent others from hearing opposing viewpoints.

How is this book burning? Vance and the Editor had a contract, the editor cancelled the print, it happens often in publishing. They obviously had to pay compensation. It’s capitalism at work. Maybe the German Publisher found out that Hillbilly Elegy’s impresario and first editor was the U.S.’s Deep State. I mean, Vance was probably scouted to join the Marine’s communication department. And communication is the best springboard to make a career in the Deep State. You should get familiar with what happened to members of the WWII U.S Office of War Information, so many went directly to head the most prestigious Media outlets of the time including Time Magazine, Life Magazine, CBS news services, etc… A good read is the 3 volume “Propaganda and Communication in World History. by H.D. Lasswell, Daniel Lerner and Hans Speier, Hawaii Ed. (1980); 3 of the most influential communication theorists of the time. Daniel Lerner’s doctoral thesis was the famous PsyWar (Psychological War) essay retelling the propagandist techniques of the Office of War Information. Long title “Psychological warfare against Nazi Germany; the Sykewar campaign, D-Day to VE-Day” published in 1971 but completed in 1948. He wrote it just after the end of the war as he was a famous member of the Office.
Serious critics of the book said it was a Conservative cliché of fly over America. Vance (due to familial tragedy I am sure) changed his name 4 times, changed his religious affiliation 3 times, with an additional “séjour” as an atheist. He finally opted for Catholicism, after his wife Ishu Vance, who is still a practitioner of Hinduism, clerked for Kavanaugh and Roberts at the Supreme Court. You cannot have a more clear Deep State pedigree of a manufactured power Couple than the Vances.
I’m sure that the German edition of the National Inquirer can easily prince Vance’s book…it’s where it belongs in terms of “essay”, but I am sure the past editor probably found out that the essay was more of a fantasy novel and had a reputation to protect.

They claim this while we watch Democrat school boards trying to put kiddy porn in front of kids who still believe in Santa Clause. won’t allow those childrens’ parents to read aloud to the adult school board and audience paragraphs from those books. These Democrats ban reading aloud those books claiming it is too obscene and pornographic for the adult audience to hear. There’s nothing in Madison’s notes to support the claim that “natural born citizen” was understood according to Vattel’s definition. But there’s also nothing to support any other understanding. There was no discussion at all of this clause, so if Madison’s notes are your only resource then you have no way of figuring out what it meant to people in the 1780s. But if you understand that Vattel was not widely read or influential, while Blackstone was hugely influential, you see that his definition, while not exactly the same as that currently accepted, does cover both 0bama and Harris, as well as McCain (but not Cruz or George Romney).

When Democrats like Biden and Obama continue claiming “America is systemically racist”, they aren’t referring to Americans with white skin color.

Trump does not “think” he can appeal to black voters – he actually is appealing to black voters.

Harris is still losing – and her numbers will only go down from here. But she might bring enough democrats to the polls to avoid a total wipeout in the house and senate – Maybe.

Regardless, Trump is NOT appealing to Blacks as race pandering. He is NOT offering blacks or hispanics or any other groups special preference or handouts. What he is offering them is a good economy that will benefit everyone in the working class regardless of race.
Trump is the truly race, …. blind candidate. To a large extent the election is about the failure of DEI, Affirmative action, Quotas, Preferences, handouts, intersectionality – everything that Democrats have done to win minority voters in exchange for real oportunity.
The majority of minorities are not buying it – but millions of minorities are. That is a sea change that should it endure puts the democratic party in the bind they thought they had the Republicans in 20 years ago.

Slavery is a natural human relationship. You can’t buy it, new or used. Completely gone. It was self-published on LuLu, and they’re no longer accepting orders. I was able to download a copy through Gumroad, and don’t recommend it; there’s nothing in it on KH that hasn’t been published elsewhere, but I’m just pointing out that by Amazon removing it immediately after KH announced her candidacy, they’re attempting to interfere with the election by censoring what voters read.

I’m just pointing out that by Amazon removing it immediately after KH announced her candidacy, they’re attempting to interfere with the election by censoring what voters read.
All of Maupin’s books previously available on Barnes & Noble have disappeared. Magically, a web search on the book title shows that NOBODY is offering this Kamala Harris book for sale.
For context, we’re seeing this from Amazon, Barnes & Noble et al at the exact same time that CNN, the Washington Post, etc are attempting to retcon their history of referring to Kamala Harris as the ‘Border Czar”. Only now years later, suddenly adding “corrections” that they shouldn’t have referred to her as the ‘Border Czar’, and the Republicans just invented that out of thin air. Not back in 2021 when they were saying it, but just a few days ago after the coup to take out Biden succeeded and Harris was put forward to be the next Obama figurehead and puppet.
So is Amazon et al censoring him to hurt the Harris campaign or to hide his writings to help the Harris campaign? And is it censorship or voluntary proactive censorship on the part of the author, having the book withdrawn?
Never heard of the author before. A quick web search has reviewers saying he’s an American flavored Maoist who celebrates Communist China as the pinnacle of human achievement.
I know all I need to know about Harris from her past history without reading the book, but this book review from back in 2021 might offer a key to why Amazon et al (and maybe the author) don’t want voters reading the book:
Biden may be asleep, but at least he isn’t a psychotic maniac driven by hatred of their father. Kamala Harris, in her rage against the oppression of dads everywhere, is willing to nuke dads everywhere, make no mistake about it. A Kamala Harris presidency is unprecedented, never before has someone so fundamentally screwed in the head been this close to the presidency without ANY say by the American people.
Kamala Harris, as Caleb Maupin points out in this book, was the LEAST liked candidate in the entire 2020 democratic primary. I worked as a canvasser during this time for a major PAC. I went door to door asking people who they planned on voting for and what where their top issues. Not one person, ONE person, out of the tens of thousands I interviewed over the course of a few months, not ONE person said anything positive about Kamala Harris. As Tulsi Gabbard pointed out in the democratic debates, Harris was characterized by her mercilessness during her time as a leading prosecutor. She famously fought against the release of DNA evidence and pushed for the death penalty for a black man who was later found completely innocent. She became known for arresting parents for smoking weed or having truant children. Why is she so merciless, in particular to black and brown children and their fathers? Why would the first black and female vice-president be characterized by their attacks on poor minorties?
What Caleb Maupin makes VERY clear in this book is that Harris has long been noted by all of her peers to be completely unstable. However, throughout her career, her bosses and handlers have weaponized her instability and psychopathy to forge her into a tokenized semi-effective battering ram for whatever regressive policies need a black face behind them. Her reportedly extremely frustrated and strained relationship with her father, who is an incredibly successful and influential Marxist Professor and advisor to the Jamaican government, seems to be one of the major points in which her psycho-political rage has emerged. She is the only candidate of memory in U.S history who’s father not only did not support her campaign, but explicitly called for voters to choose ANYONE else.
In her speeches, she constantly refers to herself as “that little girl from” blah blah blah. After reading this book, watching Kamala Harris speeches, digging into her personal life and speaking with a former staffer of hers, it is quite clear that Kamala Harris suffers from deeply laden childhood traumas that she can never quite overcome. Her hatred of the world and the people that destroyed her childhood is the driving force behind her energy and her politics. That “little girl” and her trauma, if we are not careful, may just press the nuclear button.
If Biden suddenly dies (R.I.P) before the end of his term, or something else happens, this book by Caleb Maupin will surely become a best-seller, and may perhaps be the most important book for America to read. Although the book is FILLED with information regarding Maupin’s broader political beliefs and his observations on the forces that have constructed Kamala Harris and the rest of Americas deep dark, traumatized forces, it reads quite succinctly and each page is riddled with information without any filler.
However, if you are someone like me who is incredibly familiar with Caleb and his broader views, and his analysis of breadtube and the synthetic left, much of the book may feel like a “repeat” to you. I would encourage you to read this book regardless of that however, because the overall messaging of Caleb is worth repeating and understanding on a deeper level. Caleb does a phenomenal job with the pacing of his writing, and this book is no different, the parts that may feel like a repeat are still tied into the overall arch of the core insights of the book, and without their inclusion in the book, people unfamiliar with Caleb would miss out on crucial history that helps to give an adequate portrayal of just how deep the connections between the syntenic left and the general angst and anxiety of the country that is quite fundamentally portrayed by Kamala Harris.
Overall, a really fantastic work by Caleb Maupin. His most recent book, “Where is America Going” is a tremendous follow up if you want more insight into 21st century Communism in America

When an author signs over publishing rights to a publisher he does so in return for their binding legal commitment to promote the book, publish the book and profit the author.
There is no we have changed our minds about the politics of the book escape clause.
I have no problem with publishers choosing what they will and will not publish.
I also expect publishers to honor the contracts they sign.
I would further note that it is pretty typical that a publishing contract allows the author to reclaim publishing rights if the publisher ceases to publish a book.
Again I have no problems with a publisher choosing what they will and will not publish.

I doubt I have ever bought anything published by Ullstein Buchverlage but I most certainly wont in the future.
