If I recall correctly from my high school preparatory seminary, there are venial sinners and mortal sinners, but we might have to find a third category for Aurelio Vallerillo-Sanchez, 39. He was convicted of stealing a 300-year-old painting of the Virgin Mary to pay for an abortion for a teenage girl whom he is accused of raping. That should cover the bases for a one-way ticket to the hot zone.

Jared Rohrig, an Orange, Connecticut police officer was charged in a bizarre crime this week: he raped his twin brother’s girlfriend by posing as Joe Rohrig on July 19th. The likeness was so close that the girlfriend was unable to spot the trick until she noticed the telltale absence of a cowboy tatoo on his left buttocks.

It is a dream of many a Democratic strategist: A Hannity-Palin Ticket or Palin-Hannity Ticket in 2012. According to one news report, Sean Hannity added fuel to the speculation this week by saying that he would not rule out a run and would await direction from the Almighty. (It is assumed that that is a reference to God as opposed to Roger Ailes).

The Taliban has made good on its horrific promise to cut off the fingers of people with the tell-tale dye stains on their fingers after voting in the national elections. The Negro Educational Emergency Drive did not take long to fire Virginia Montanez after she revealed that she was the popular — and once anonymous — blogger PittGirl. PittGirl was a favorite of readers in Pittsburgh and would dish out funny jabs against the political establishment, particularly the mayor. The Negro Educational Emergency Drive, however, fired the mother of two when it learned what she has been doing in her free time.

A Twin Peaks restaurant advertises scantily dressed waitresses and a “fun, friendly and sometimes flirty atmosphere.” It was a bit too much for Texas police officers who had a waitress pose on their police cruiser holding an assault rifle. Sheriff Gary Painter fired one officer Daniel Subia, 30, and suspended three others.

We have been following questionable uses of tasers by police. This video from 2004 raises some disturbing questions where a former BYU professor Tom Lowery is tasered in court during a rambling argument. It is clear that the use of the force, in my view, was unnecessary and improper — particularly in a court of law.
