Wilders Trial Thrown Into Disarray After Judges Found To Be Biased

The trial of Dutch politician Geert Wilders for his anti-Islamic views has been thrown into disarray after his judges were found to be themselves biased — against Wilder. A verdict from the panel of three judges at the Amsterdam district court was due next week. A re-trial will be scheduled with new judges.

Viva Il Talibano: Italian Town To Pass Anti-Blasphemy Law and Ban Both Sunbathing and Miniskirts

Castellammare di Stabia appears eager to join the forces in the West cracking down on free speech and expression. The city is moving toward the passage of a blasphemy law — the subject of prior columns and blog entries on a trend against free speech in the West. The city is also planning to ban miniskirts, sunbathing, and playing football in public places. If nothing else, the move will finally give the Taliban a seaside vacation spot to get away from it all.

Randy Quaid and Wife Seek Canadian Asylum To Evade “Hollywood Star-Whackers”

Oscar-nominee Randy Quaid, 60, and his wife Evi, 47, have appeared in Canada with a novel claim for refugee protection — claiming that someone is killing off Quaid’s friends and that the couple needs protection from “Hollywood star-whackers.” Evi has a much better sense of taking a good mugshot.

Congressional Candidate in Massachusetts Accused of Complicity in Sexual Assault While a Police Officer

Republican congressional candidate, Jeffrey D. Perry, in Massachusetts is facing a novel challenge — a victim of police abuse has gone public to say that Perry knew of her sexual assault by his partner in 1991 when he was a Wareham police officer. Perry is running in part on his career as a cop — using the endorsement of the Chief of Police — whom Allen was also accused of nonfeasance in the incident by the victim.

Singapore Set To Cane Another American

Singapore is about to cane another American – the first since Michael Peter Fay, then 18, received four cane strokes in 1994 for theft and vandalism. Kamari Charlton is a former Florida State basketball and football star. He was originally arrested for overstaying his visa (beyond the permitted 90 days). The caning is due to the visa violation.

English Hotelier Left Homeless When Squatters Take Over House

Connan Gupta, 40, a hotelier moved out of his £700,000, five-bedroom home in Camberwell, England for renovations. When he returned, he found the locks changed and Italian squatters occupying his house — with all of his belongings, medication, and possessions inside. He will remain homeless and living with his sister while the courts sort it out.

New York Police Accused of Assaulting College Students Trying To Give CPR To Friend

Three college students are alleging that police in White Plains, New York first shot their friend, Danroy Henry, without cause and then beat them when they tried to give him CPR to save his life. The friends were later arrested and Henry died from his wounds.

Couple Arrested After Alleged Attempt to Rob Store — and Getaway in Wheelchair

Hefty bags may want to add the convenient use as robbery disguises to its list of product benefits. Noemi Duchene, 44, and Luis Del Castillo, 45, were arrested in what may have been the pathetic robbery attempt this year: Duchene left her wheelchair outside the store and masked herself with a trash bag.

Introducing Moss Man: Oregon Man Arrested For Allegedly Breaking Into Rock Museum

Hillsboro, Oregon Police appeared unsure whether to book Gregory Liascos, 36, or to water him. Liascos was wearing a “ghille suit” commonly worn by military snipers to hide as moss after allegedly breaking into the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals. A police dog found him lying among the foliage and nipped him — causing the moss to yelp.

English Prosecutors Raise Sharia Law in Murder Trial of Saudi Prince

The trial of Saudi prince Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud for the murder of a servant in London took an interesting turn when the prosecution noted to the jury that, putting aside the murder allegation, Saud, 34, would have faced execution in the Kingdom for being gay. Saud allegedly murdered Bandar Abdulaziz, 32, (left) after repeated sexual assaults.

Father Beats Wife To Death For Opposing Arranged Marriage of Her Daughter

Italy is dealing with a shocking murder after Ahmad Khan Butt, a 53-year-old construction worker and owner of a local mosque in Modena, beat his wife to death with a brick after she opposed an arranged marriage for her daughter. While Ahmad Butt beat his wife, his son, Umair, severely beat his sister Nosheen Butt, 20, with a stick — resulting in her hospitalization for a broken arm and head injuries. The husband and deceased wife, Beghm Shnez, are Muslim and both originally came from Pakistan.

Birth Before Booking: Ohio Woman Arrested After Trying To Steal From Walmart While In Labor

In Alliance, Ohio, Katurah L. Petty reached a level of fame or infamy among officers by allegedly stealing computer software from a Walmart while in labor. The Labor Day specials were long expired, so she was taken to jail after a visit to the hospital. Accounts differs as to whether she actually gave birth or was feigning labor.
