Duterte’s Son and Son-In-Law Implicated in Massive Drug Conspiracy

rodrigo_duterte_and_laotian_president_bounnhang_vorachith_croppedPhilippine President Rodrigo Duterte has become an international pariah for his orders to police to murder drug suspects and his bragging about his own killings.  Thousands of suspected drug dealers have been killed under Duterte.  Now however he might want to reconsider his extra-judicial kill order.  His son, Paolo, and his son-in-law have been implicated in a massive drug conspiracy.  Paulo appeared before a Senate hearing to deny the allegations but then (on the advice of his father) refused to answer the questions of the Commission.

Man To Be Criminally Charged After Jokingly Says “Allahu Akbar” in Boarding Ryanair Flight

280px-Ryanair.svgI have previously written about the myth created by TSA that jokes at an airport security point about bombs constitute a crime.  In an odd twist, nine men have been thrown off an early-morning Ryanair flight to Madrid after one of them shouted “Allahu Akbar” “as a joke.”  However, the phrase simply means “God is Great.” Nevertheless, the men appear to have thought it was funny to use the phrase associated with terrorist attacks.

600px-Arabic_Numerals.svg

In the German town of Völklingen, far-right mayoral candidate Otfried Best has promised to rid his town of one of the most insidious influences of Islam: Arabic numbering. During a debate, an opposing candidate from the satirical Die Partei party asked about the ubiquitous presence of Arabic numbers and Best pledged to change the numeric infiltration of Arabs.

Putting The Leg Back Into Lego: Chinese Company Sells Kit To Build Brothel

downloadFlag_of_the_People's_Republic_of_ChinaA Chinese company, Xingbao, sells knockoff Legos as  “LEGO compatible” sets for different scenes and buildings.  Its traditional Chinese street series as one curious element unlikely to be approved by LEGO corporation: a house of prostitution with an assortment of Chinese courtesans. It is not clear if this is an effort to get Dads more interested in playing with the kids but LEGO’s slogan “Just Imagine” certainly takes on a new meaning.

Myanmar Allows Another Reported Massacre of Muslim Minority Rohingya

250px-Flag_of_Myanmar.svgWe previously discussed the crushing abuse and discrimination faced by Muslims in Myanmar.  The Rohingya are denied basic rights and face continued violence in the country.   While it was hard to imagine the abuse of these Muslims becoming any more extreme in the Buddhist nation, it just did.  The government has allowed a new spasm of violence against this community which has been denied the most basic rights and the support.  Rohingya children have been reportedly beheaded and civilians burned alive.

A Cambridge University student with Pembroke College has become persona non grata after a disgusting display in front of a homeless man.  When unemployed crane operator Ryan Davies asked for money, Ronald Coyne burned a  £20 note in front of him as a taunt.  The video was posted on YouTube and Coyne is now internationally despised.

Germany Bans Antifa Website As An Extremist Forum

imagesI recently wrote about the dangerous calls to treat protesters as “domestic terrorists.”  Most these calls focused on the neo-Nazis but the recent move by German authorities against Antifa shows that groups on the left can also be targeted by such actions. The Antifa website has been barred due to the violent role played by their members at the G20 summit in Hamburg.  The Interior Ministry accused Antifa of seeking to “legitimize violence against police officers. which he described as an “expression of an attitude that tramples human dignity.”

Macron Makeover: Fifty-Seven Percent Now Dissatisfied With French Leader

Emmanuel_Macron_in_July_2017Blush-Rouge-_2013-08-29_12-13We previously discussed how the coverage of President Donald Trump’s low polling numbers often omits that Bill Clinton had similar numbers and more importantly media darling French President Emmanuel Macron has similarly low numbers and those numbers are dropping.  That does not change the fact that this White House is rapidly alienating allies both domestic and foreign. However, a new poll confirms that Macron shows the same dropping popularity over the same period of time with only 40 percent now in favor of the job that he is doing.  If you think, it is time for a Macron makeover . . .  think again.

Family Breaks 800-Year-Old Coffin After Putting Child Into It For Photo

Prohibition_of_photographingWe have previously discussed tourists who damage art and artifacts by their thoughtless conduct (here and here and here and here).  Unfortunately, we have yet another such example.According to Southend Echo visitors to the Prittlewell Priory Museum in Southend, Essex, visitors damaged a unique  800-year-old stone coffin to snap a picture.

Fire Fighters Rescue Pigs From Fire . . . Farm Thanks Fire Fighters With Sausage Made From The Rescued Pigs

_97483266_sausagestwoA drift of rescued piglets (yes, that is what a group of pigs is called)  is at the center of a controversy between animal rights advocates and the Wiltshire fire department.   After fire fighters pulled 18 piglets and two sows from a fire, the farmer, Rachel Rivers, wanted to thank them so the farm butchered the pigs, made them into sausage, and served them to their rescuers.

Pennsylvania Teacher Falls Off Hotel Roof In Mexico After Laughing Too Hard

1503079519729While people often chide the United States for our torts system and personal liability laws, occasional stories from other countries remind us of how important liability can be to influence accident avoidance.  Sharon Regoli Ciferno, 50, a teacher at Charles A. Huston Middle School in western Pennsylvania, was vacationing in Mexico when she fell off a hotel roof that used a deck ledge as a bench.  Ciferno laughed so hard that she lost her balance in throwing her head back and fell off the roof.

A Picture Frozen In Time: California Man Killed In Spanish Terror Attack

1503110024263Every terrorist attack brings a myriad of tragic stories of lives cut short by extremists who believe that mowing down innocent people will please God and guarantee them a place in paradise.  I had to share this picture on one such tragedy in the death of American Jared Tucker, 42, who took this picture one hour with his wife Heidi Nunes before being murdered in the streets of Barcelona Spain.  They were celebrating their one-year anniversary. American Tourist Arrested For Giving Nazi Salute In Berlin

Coat_of_arms_of_Germany.svgWe recently discussed the arrest of two Chinese tourists for taking pictures of giving the Nazi salute in Berlin.  Now, an American has been arrested for giving the salute in Dresden — after a passerby punched him.  The arrests highlight the failed effort of Germans to criminalize certain forms of speech to deter neo-Nazis.
