Israel To Seek $20 Billion More in U.S. Aid

As cities and states shutdown basic programs and sell off parks and lands due to a lack of money, Israel will ask the U.S. for $20 billion in additional military aid. This is being supported by various members of Congress and the Administration, who continue to spend wildly abroad while demanding cuts in education, the environment, and other programs at home.

Obama Administration Pledges To Hold Gaddafi Accountable For War Crimes

In an announcement that has many civil libertarians charging hypocrisy, the Obama Administration has gone public with a commitment to hold Moammar Gaddafi accountable for war crimes. This is the same Administration that has been denounced internationally for blocking any prosecution of Bush officials, including Bush himself, for alleged torture and war crimes. This includes the recently disclosed communications with the Spanish government revealing that the Obama Administration pressured Spain to shutdown its own war crimes inquiry.

Multimillionaire Dentist Arrested For Stealing Credit Card of College Students For Pizza

Dr. Richard Lewis Ludwig, 54, of Michigan, was arrested as the surprise culprit in an alleged credit-card theft and forgery case. Ludwig is a multimillionaire dentist who allegedly found a credit card dropped by Harrun Majeed in a parking lot. Ludwig then allegedly proceeded to buy pizzas and drinks with the college student’s card.

Obama Moves Toward Intervention in Libya

Barack Obama has indicated that the United States is considering military intervention in Libya. While this may be an effort to convince Gaddafi (Qadaffi) to leave, the very thought of another military campaign by the United States is alarming. We are continuing to gush billions in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan despite rising anti-American sentiments. In the meantime, our cities and states are near bankruptcy for lack of funds.

No, No, No, You Silly Drunk: Drink First Then Take Field Test

Stephen Supers of  Elyria, Ohio can’t seem to get anything straight. Pulled for speeding, the 25-year-old gave the arresting officer the distinct impression  he was DUI. After failing several field sobriety tests, the alleged offender confirmed the officer’s suspicion and calmed his nerves by slamming back a beer he conveniently had stashed in his car. A subsequent search of the car revealed some other goodies like marijuana. (Quite the mobile pharmacy, you have there, Stephen– allegedly)

Westminster (London) Moves To Ban Lying Down in Public and Giving Away Food

A new law in Westminster (London), England would make it illegal to lie down in a public place and to give away food. It is another example of cities criminalizing or banning conduct that includes routine behavior. It is an invitation for arbitrary enforcement since I doubt the police will be arresting folks resting in the parks outside of their offices. The law can be used as an easily available justification for stopping and potentially arresting individuals.
