Man Steals Painting of Virgin Mary to Pay For Abortion For an Underaged Girl He Raped

170px-VladimirskayaIf I recall correctly from my high school preparatory seminary, there are venial sinners and mortal sinners, but we might have to find a third category for Aurelio Vallerillo-Sanchez, 39. He was convicted of stealing a 300-year-old painting of the Virgin Mary to pay for an abortion for a teenage girl whom he is accused of raping. That should cover the bases for a one-way ticket to the hot zone.

FitzpatrickMP Jim Fitzpatrick is under fire by the large Muslim population in East London after he and his wife left a wedding party when they were told that it was segregated by gender due to the Islamic faith of the couple. Tory candidate Tim Archer attacked Fitzpatrick, saying that he “is playing a certain race card to save his skin at the next election.”

Taliban Cut Off Fingers of Women Voting in National Elections

250px-Election-2004The Taliban has made good on its horrific promise to cut off the fingers of people with the tell-tale dye stains on their fingers after voting in the national elections. This does not surprise me about these extremists who believe any atrocity in the name of Allah is permitted. What astonishes me is that the Afghan government continues to use the dye technique when it allows for such retaliation.

Picture-110Never say the English do not have a better class of criminals. Yale Publishes Book Addressing Controversy Over Muhammad Cartoons — And Deletes All of the Pictures of the Cartoons

413hBzCMe0L._SL500_AA240_In an astonishing act, Yale University Press has told an author that her book addressing the controversy over the Muhammad cartoons will be published — without any of the 12 cartoons shown in the book. Muslims consider images of Muhammad to be blasphemous and particularly object to the insulting cartoons, which caused riots and deaths worldwide. Jytte Klausen, author of “The Cartoons That Shook the World” wanted the cartoons to be shown in the book.

French Ban Burkinis

165px-BathingSuit1920sThe French has been fighting against the wearing of religious scarves and Burkas by Muslim women for years. Now, French officials have taken on the Burkini — a loose swimsuit that covers Muslim women like a wetsuit with a hood. Burkinis have been banned in pools as more clothing than swimsuit. If you want to swim in France, you will don a bikini or at least a revealing swimsuit.

Things That Tick Me Off: Credit Card Travel Policies

150px-Mastercard_Worldwide_Logo.svgMy latest entry to “Things That Tick Me Off” is the new policy of credit card companies to block purchases on cards when customers simply go from state to state. We now need to call credit card companies and go through the endless series of automatic options to reach an operator to say that we are going to fly to another city on a business trip or family vacation.

270px-Santo_Domingo_y_los_albigenses-detalleWith continuing stories of the denial of legal rights, the abuse of women (ad here and here), rise of radical Islam, and war crimes, many Americans are still unsure why we are sacrificing thousands of our citizens and billions in funding in Iraq. Now, the U.S. supported government is moving to ban books that it considers unduly “sectarian.”

Honored in the Breach: Obama Administration Celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Geneva Conventions by Gutting Them

thumb_birthday_birthday_cake_4torture -abu ghraibToday, the Geneva Conventions turned 60. Like many people “of a certain age,” the Geneva Conventions can be forgiven for feeling a bit marginalized and forgotten. The Obama Administration is about to finish the work of the Bush Administration in gutting the enforceability of the Conventions by blocking any investigation or prosecution of American officials who violated the conventions, including the well-documented torture program.
