The Taliban resume public executions on Sunday by stoning to death a young couple who had committed the crime of falling in love and eloping. The couple — Khayyam, 25, and Siddiqa, 19 — publicly proclaimed their love for each other and reportedly refused to yield to the fanatics who are retaking control of parts of the country.

Iran Accused of Torturing Woman To Confess To Murder

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani’s lawyer has gone public with an allegation that his client was severely beaten and tortured before her public confession to being an accomplice to the murder of her husband. Previously, the woman was sentenced to stoning for adultery. After international outcry, Iran added the murder charge.

English Couple Killed in Pakistan in Honor Killing After Daughter Backs Out of Arranged Marriage

We have been following honor killing in the United States and aboard. This tragedy has a different aspect however. Gul Wazir, a taxi driver from Birmingham and his wife Begum were killed in Pakistan after reportedly returning to make amends for their daughter breaking off an arranged marriage.

John the Bulgarian?

Ok, he wasn’t Bulgarian, but John the Baptist’s remains may be. Archaeologists in Bulgaria has reported that they have found remains of John the Baptist in a reliquary in a 5th century monastery on the Black Sea island of Sveti Ivan. The container holds a skull, hand, and a tooth — not quite half a saint but a pretty good percentage in the relic world.
