Rick Perry Accused Of Role In Pushing Ukrainian Gas Company To Appoint A Donor To Its Board

I have been writing on the deepening questions concerning the business deals of Hunter Biden during the Obama Administration — and the failure of media to fully pursue the story. At the same time, I have also supported the investigation into President Donald Trump’s call with the Ukrainian president as a possible impeachable offense. The fact is that corruption is rampant in this city and neither party can credibly claim to be against such corruption. This weekend, a new controversy has arisen over Ukrainian dealings by figures tied to the GOP. At issue are efforts to push for the appointment of Republican allies to the controlling board of Ukraine’s state gas company, Naftogaz, including former Secretary of Energy Rick Perry who allegedly pressured the country to appoint one of his political donors.

Not-So-Funny Girl: Streisand Retweets Image Of Pelosi Impaling Trump On Her Heels

As apparel company Dhvani displays huge images of Trump being assaulted in Times Square, Barbra Streisand has added her own violent commentary with an image showing Trump impaled on the heel of Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Streisand considered the violent bloody image to be worth sharing. For those who have long objected to Trump’s rhetoric as violent or inciteful, there seems a tolerance for violent imagery targeting Trump or conservatives.

Dhvani Runs Ads Showing Model Assaulting Trump

There has been legitimate criticism (including on this blog) of President Donald Trump retweeting images of his killing or beating media figures. However, there is often less coverage of such violent images from the left. One shocking example appeared this week in advertisements in New York for the athletic apparel company Dhvani showing a model assaulting Trump. The company did not back down from its violent display, though Planned Parenthood denounced the ads after Dhvani named it as a collaborating partner in the campaign design. The campaign titled #StandForSomething seems to mean stand for something tasteless and brutal.

“You Just Ran Into Two People From New York, Kiddo”: Rand Paul Becomes Latest Victim Of Restaurant Abuse

I have previously written about my dismay over verbal and even physical attacks on politicians, particularly conservatives, in restaurants. Liberal couples and activists believe that they have license to scream and disrupt meals of those with whom they disagree politically. The latest such abuse occurred when Sen. Rand Paul was trying to have lunch at a California restaurant with his staff when a couple began to shout profanities at them.

Turkish President Throws Trump Letter Into Trash as Aides Promise “Necessary Steps” Over Disrespect

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s aides made a point of telling U.S. media that Erdogan threw Donald Trump controversial letter to him into the trash and promised to take actions against the United States for the disrespectful content. In the meantime, the Turks are promising to “crush the heads” of the Kurds if they do not withdraw entirely from border areas. Erdogan himself said “we have not forgotten” the letter or its insulting tone.

Report: No Spinach On Mars

Good news for kids around the world! Researchers at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands have determined that it is possible to grow food on Mars except for spinach. Of course, Matt Damon was the first to demonstrate this finding. Unfortunately, the selection thus far is not what many of us would prefer: garden cress, rocket, tomato, radish, rye, quinoa, chives, peas and leek. Only spinach failed to grow.

“Say It Nicer”: Why Many Questions Remain After The Hunter Biden Interview

Screengrab

Below is my column on the ABC interview with Hunter Biden. The interview preceded his father’s debate that day, but former Vice President Joe Biden awkwardly declined to address the issue. As I discussed in another column, there remains a media mantra that there is “no evidence of wrongdoing by Joe or Hunter Biden.” That dismisses the long objections by many of us that these lucrative jobs and contracts for spouses and children are part of an unethical and corrupt practice. Most of us view what Hunter did as clearly “wrong” but the media has adopted a narrow focus on whether criminal charges have been brought as opposed to whether the Ukraine deal was a raw and obvious form of influence peddling.

Here is the column:

The University of Wyoming May Lose Superman Papers Because Donor Does Not Like Liz Cheney

Rep. Liz Cheney has been much in the news with controversial statements like her suggestion that the Turkish invasion of Syria was due to the impeachment inquiry by the Democrats. Many of us were critical of that comment but one person seems to have taken his anger with Cheney out on . . . the University of Wyoming. That’s right, Connecticut-based author and psychologist Hank Weisinger has threatened to take back his father’s collection of papers related to the Superman comic series because he is upset that the state has Cheney among her elected officials.

Mattis: “I Earned My Spurs On The Battlefield … Donald Trump Earned His Spurs In A Letter From A Doctor”

Ouch. Many of us were surprised when President Donald Trump launched into former US defense secretary James Mattis at his controversial meeting with Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Trump referred to him as “the world’s most overrated general” and claimed “I captured ISIS.” Mattis, who has been largely silent after his departure, delivered a body blow of a response as part of the annual Alfred E Smith Memorial Foundation dinner. Using the tradition roast format, Mattis found the perfect venue to hit Trump under the guise of humor. True to his training, the well-delivered lines aimed for critical organs. It could be worse: David Cameron just labeled Boris Johnson the “greased piglet” and meant it as a compliment in getting Brexit through Parliament.

Dershowitz Loses Bid To Prevent Defamation Trial By Alleged Victim In Epstein Scandal

Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz once dared his accusers to sue him in the ongoing controversy over his role in the alleged abuse of underaged girls in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. One did just that. Virginia Giuffre has claimed that she was forced to have sex as an underaged girl with friends and acquaintances of Epstein, including Dershowitz. Dershowitz called her a liar on multiple occasions, including statements he never met Giuffre and that she is a “serial perjurer,” a “serial liar,” and a “serial prostitute.” She sued him for defamation and U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska in New York has rejected Dershowitz’s motion to dismiss and held that Dershowitz will have to face a trial on her claims. Former judge Paul Cassell has also leveled charges against Dershowitz as one of the abusers.

Browns Fan Sues Team Over Misidentification In Beer Dumping Episode At Titans Game

Sceenshot

There is an interesting lawsuit in Ohio where Eric Smith is suing the Cleveland Browns after he was falsely accused of being the fan who poured beer on Tennessee Titans cornerback Logan Ryan last month after he jumped in the stands to celebrate a touchdown. He is alleging negligence, defamation, negligent infliction of emotional distress, false light, and loss of consortium as a result of being misidentified and then banned from future games. He claims that he has not been to a game since 2010 and was serving as a DJ at a wedding at the time of the incident.

Gallup: 52 Percent Support Trump’s Impeachment And Removal

There is another poll showing a significant increase in support for the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump. What should worry the White House is that among the 52 percent of Americans now supporting impeachment in the Gallup poll is a rising number of key independent voters. These various polls reflect, in my view, a continuing failure of the White House to reframe its impeachment strategy and narrative. It is not working. In the end, impeachment could end with a simple party muscle vote but that is not going to win over key voters like independents. There is clearly damage below the water line for the White House and the control of the Senate could rest in the balance.

Report: Trump Tax Documents Show “Major Inconsistencies”

President Donald Trump has steadfastly refused to release his tax documents and is continuing litigation in both D.C. and New York despite rulings against him to bar the disclosures of prosecutors or congressional committees. Now, ProPublica has reported that it was able to review tax and loan documents for New York properties that show disturbing major discrepancies in reported expenses and profits.
