“A Scandal Free Biden Administration”: The Media Celebrates a Year of Free From Political Scandal and Press Scrutiny

With the conclusion of the first year of the Biden Administration, White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain sought to end on a high, or at least higher, note by retweeting a column saying that 2021 was not “all bad.” It was like bragging that a first date told you that the evening could have been worse. However, what really stood out in the column by Albert Hunt was the key rationale: the first year was “scandal free.” Calling 2021 “scandal free” is not merely an example of blinkered commentary, it is an  exercise of willful blindness. This is why magicians often make audience members part of the illusion. Houdini did not actually make his 10,000 pound elephant Jennie disappear. It was there the whole time but the audience did not want to see it. That’s the trick.

At his inauguration, President Biden promised the return of good government and newspapers like the Washington Post heralded the end to Trump’s “scandal-plagued single term.” Now, at the end of the first year, readers are being asked to “think back four years ago: The Trump administration looked more like ‘The Godfather’ — without the skill.”

There is ample reason for the White House and many in the media to celebrate the lack of scandals in the Biden Administration because it was a collective effort.

Of course, four years ago, the media was all-in on the Russian collusion allegations. The media was doing non-stop coverage of the Steele dossier with little scrutiny or effort to uncover those who funded it. The dossier was later discredited and American intelligence warned that Russian intelligence may have used it to plant disinformation. While the Clinton campaign repeatedly denied funding the dossier, it was revealed (after the election) that not only did the Clinton campaign fund and push the dossier but also allegedly lied to Congress, the media, and the FBI. Clinton campaign chair John Podesta allegedly denied such funding to congressional staff. According to reports, sitting next to him was Clinton attorney Marc Elias (who was later found to have funded the dossier through the Clinton campaign’s legal account).

The only thing more impressive than the relentless coverage of Trump scandals in 2017 was the relentless avoidance of Biden scandals in 2020.  The media did give passing coverage to the host of Biden false claims and stories that range from saying that he was “arrested trying to see Nelson Mandela” to his evolving Amtrak claims to reinventing his positions on foreign wars like Afghanistan. There were also federal violations by Biden officials and allegations of improper presidential influence on pending investigations. However, when it came to scandals that could implicate the President in more serious misconduct (or contradict his past denials), the media was thoroughly uninterested.

Consider just three of the Voldemort scandals of 2020, or those scandals which must not be named by the media:

The Hunter Biden Laptop:

The successful effort to bury the Hunter Biden story is the single greatest political achievement in modern politics, but it took a concerted effort by reporters and columnists in Washington. What was most impressive is that the Biden campaign and family never denied that the laptop was authentic. The laptop details potential criminal acts by Hunter Biden from extensive drug use to hiring prostitutes to alleged financial and tax violations. It also included his admission that prior files were likely in the hands of foreign intelligence to use for blackmailing him and his father. There is also the “red flag” gun controversy involving Hunter Biden. Not only did social media companies blackout references to the laptop, but the media has steadfastly continued to refuse to pursue these potential criminal acts. The laptop was seized by the FBI in an ongoing federal investigation into possible tax and financial wrongdoing.

Biden Family Influence Peddling:

Influence peddling has long been associated with the Biden family but only sparingly reported, even though both President Biden’s brothers Frank and James are accused of openly hawking their ties to him.  Hunter’s laptop added evidence of hundreds of emails on transactions by Hunter Biden, his uncle James Biden, and Joe Biden. The emails magnify earlier allegations that the Biden family engaged in open influence peddling when Joe Biden was Vice President with an assortment of foreign figures and countries. Some of those dealings continued into the Biden presidency. Hunter Biden admits that he was a hopeless drug addict well into his father’s presidential campaign. However, these foreign figures continued to give Hunter millions and Hunter openly assisted in their meetings with his father and linking up with Administration officials. One of the key figures in these dealings has claimed that he met personally with Joe Biden to discuss the deals.

These meetings and dinners directly contradict denials from President Biden, who is referred to extensively in emails concerning payments and meetings as “the Big Guy,” “Celtic,” and other names. President Biden appears to have had bills paid from out of these accounts and his shared card may have been used in some of the most dubious transactions. Some dealings have direct national security implications for the United States. Despite the ongoing federal investigation, there has been no call for a Special Counsel even though President Biden is referenced and potentially implicated in some of these transactions. Nevertheless, Hunter continues to rack in the dough by other means, including art deals that have been denounced as ethically corrupt.

The Ashley Biden Diary:

The latest scandal involves the other first child, Ashley Biden.  Like her brother Hunter, Ashley has struggled with addiction and left her diary with some clothes in a house in Delray, Florida.  The diary was later sent to Project Veritas, a conservative publication which decided not to run the information. The contents of the diary, however, have been reported on other sites, including allegations against her father involving “inappropriate” contacts. As with the Hunter Biden laptop, the Biden family has not denied the authenticity of the diary or the underlying passages. It also did not sue the other conservative sites for defamation in publishing what they alleged to be passages from the diary. Instead, the family lawyers called upon the Justice Department to get involved the case of a missing diary. The Justice Department’s response was so overwhelming you would have thought that they were investigating the snatching of Lindbergh’s baby rather than Ashley’s diary.  It conducted raids on journalists and the seizure of confidential material around the country.

The media was not interested in the use of the FBI to launch a national investigation into the missing diary. Indeed, the raiding of the home of a conservative publisher was barely noted even though the New York Times could also have been raided on the same grounds as Project Veritas. The Times acquired confidential and presumably stolen legal material from Project Veritas and, unlike Project Veritas, published the presumably stolen information. However, the Biden Justice Department was only interested in cracking down on the acquisition or coverage of the Ashley Biden diary.

In reviewing these scandals, ask yourself what the media would have done with a diary from Ivanka Trump with these allegations or foreign influence peddling by the Trump children. You do not have to wonder. They covered every possible foreign influence source from hotel rentals to loans in exhaustive details, including Trump children “influence peddling.” I thought that interest and coverage was warranted. However, when hundreds of emails and transactions showed raw influence peddling by the Biden family (including the involvement of President Biden), neither the media nor the members of Congress could be bothered. There would be no “scandal-plagued single term” for President Biden.

For the media (and Ron Klain) to pronounce the Biden Administration “scandal free” is akin to the NFL once denying that traumatic brain injury was rampant in football. If there is no coverage, there is no scandal. That is certainly an accomplishment worth noting, but hardly worth celebrating.

  1. Leaders only exist with followers! The American voters – us – need to change, not the leaders. Americans and most people, love to hate. We love having enemies. We love to be divided even when it harms our own children and future generations.

This is fundamentally what’s wrong in focusing on Trump or Biden instead of ourselves. These leaders didn’t take over, they merely represent the self-destructive “tribalism” of the American voters. The world’s worst leaders didn’t take over, they were supported by the citizenry. James Madison termed this the “tyranny of the majority”.

For example: Democrats and Reagan Republicans once opposed torture, Guantanamo’s gulag and attacking our free press. Republicans once supported small limited constitutional government. Voters of both parties benefit longterm from a written constitutional rule of law, our children benefit also but few actually support a constitutional rule of law it in real practice.

Seems very unpatriotic to hate any of our fellow Americans, even those of the other party or those that we disagree with. The only winners in this game is our foreign enemies.

Many Americans forget that political parties were never designed into the American system. The Framers of the Constitution weren’t opposed to maximum checks & balances – competing political parties – that produced a “healthy” competition of ideas and healthy results, but would have strongly opposed today’s destructive use of political parties to divide the nation.

Madison and the Framers designed a written constitutional rule of law to minimize this destructive tribalism. In this system, nobody gets everything they want but everyone wins longterm. If it’s a fair rulebook, it benefits all of us, even the people we love to hate.

    1. AZ, nice posting, but I wish to say one thing.

“but few actually support a constitutional rule of law it in real practice.”

True. In recent years an abundance of leftist Democrats have been devotees of buffalo jumps. Though they are not suicidal, they nonetheless are destroying our nation.

    2. Absolutely! Hear, hear! Us need to change!

Us need to change to the distinct immutable meaning and intent of the literal English words of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, entirely bereft of notions and variants.

Americans, actual Americans, love the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Americans, actual Americans, love the single-minded, resolute, sworn and oath-taken support of the literal, verbatim Constitution and Bill of Rights by dispassionate objective Justices of the Supreme Court, understanding that there is not a whiff or scintilla of central planning, control of the means of production, redistribution of wealth or social engineering in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

  2. Fast and Furious

    Benghazi

    IRS targeting conservatives

AP phone records. Obama justice demanding AP reporters phone records from providers, and getting them! without a warrant

Eric Holder violating a congressional subpoena to testify

    SOLYDRA

Violating bankruptcy law and letting creditors off the hook but took bound holders earnings

    Cash for Clunkers

This is just a short list of Obama era scandals. But somehow the media today will tell you, with a straight face, the Obama administration was scandal free.

The axiom that the winners write the history is supported by experience. Scandals are determind by the media, not the events. Again we see that truism playing out in real time.

    1. I did not forget Obama directing the IC, DoJ, FBI, AND ,Foreign Intelligence aAencies to advance the lie that Candidate, then President Elect, then President Trump, was in the pocket of Putin.

That is so incredulous it really doesn’t need to be elaborated on.

  3. Why are you all debating about whether he works for Fox? That’s inane. Nobody cares. It’s moot to the real issues.

You wanna sound the alarm about impending mass starvation and famine because of our piss-poor grain export policy?
Our rotting grain reserves? What about the cap on fertilizer sales out of China? Think that won’t have a cascading effect?

If you have reasonable suspicion backing your argument, fine. Just don’t expect everyone to agree with you.
Especially if you can’t compel them to go through the same steps of reasoning which you followed to conclude
that the author is unjustifiably silent about x, y, or z.

Reality check: that’s true for everybody; but you can put in the effort to think for yourself, now can’t you?

  4. Diogenes points out:

“Jeff, Professor Turley also has commentary published in USA Today and The Hill on a regular basis. They both lean left, to me at least to me.”

Diogenes, I don’t read USA Today, but I sometimes read The Hill. I won’t pass judgment on either since I am not sufficiently knowledgeable.

We all recognize that Turley is a Liberal. It is precisely for this reason that he is a valuable asset for Fox! You understand that, don’t you? One more conservative legal analyst Fox does not need! The very fact that a *Liberal* analyst *does not contradict* its false narratives strengthens the claim that it is the Leftwing which is being untruthful.

Mind you, Turley does not lie. For instance, he has never embraced the Big Lie. After all, he has his academic reputation to protect. Instead, he self-censors and says not a single word about the Big Lie and thereby retains his good standing among his Fox paymasters. I have read that Turley is writing a book. Wanna bet that he sticks around Fox until it is published so that he can promote it on his Fox appearances?

Don’t be a sap. Turley is selling out to Fox. It’s nothing personal; it’s strictly business.

    1. Maybe got transferred to troll on a different blog. CTHD disappeared sometime back too.

      1. Young, I’m concerned because he’d mentioned he’d had some challenges in his personal life.

Granted, once he comes back, I’ll argue with him with fervor, but until he/she returns, I’ll be hoping he/she is OK.

  5. Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year! In crazy times like these, we need to count our blessings.

    1. I’ve been thinking the Year of the Rats seems an excellent time to watch the movie The Departed again now it appears to us outsiders that the rich & powerful & ring leaders have scrubbed up a lot of their old mess, taken care of the likes of Epstein, now Maxwell & had all the other records/evidence sealed by the judge of Pedophile people position like the Clintons, the British Royals etc..

  6. I was surprised to read in today’s blog (perhaps I missed earlier statements) that JT thought that the media interest and coverage of possible foreign influence of Trump and his family was warranted.

    1. Concerned Citizen,

Why? Turley believes that no one is above the law. Perhaps, that would explain why Turley has not defended the Trump lawyers who are being sued for defamation for promoting the Big Lie and neither has he criticized the fact that their law licenses are being threatened with revocation by their Bar Associations.

Turley has not condemned Fox News for banning Trump lawyers Giuliani, Powell or Ellis though they appear on other Rightwing networks. He has not even denounced the forced resignation of John Eastman from his law school as well as the Federalist Society on account of his legal memoranda in support of Trump.

If Turley had ANY objection to any of these developments, we would have heard about it. We can thus conclude that he approves all of it.

    2. concerned citizen – Corporate media provided minimum coverage of Trump-family scandals and allegations of serious criminal conduct. Made for less pressure on
Merrick “Wimpy” Garland, Cyrus Vance, Letitia James et.al to take appropriate measures to bring the entire Trump crime family to heel.

      1. Bill,

It was presumed by many that Trump’s campaign was a publicity stunt to bolster his brand. Whereas until now he had skirted the law, I’m sure he did not anticipate the level of scrutiny he would face once made president. Trump is ruing the day he was actually elected. His second run was to retain all the executive prerogatives his office enjoys to stave off inevitable investigations.

It will be interesting to watch all the Trumpists calling the Trump related prosecutions and verdicts “shams” while Turley has nothing to say on the matter. Instead, I imagine he will continue to vociferously point out faults in the MSM and the Biden administration in order to obscure the obvious fact that he has never been on their side; he has always been a Never Trumper.

        1. Any facts to back up your word salad? “Crimes” are narrowly defined; point to some criminal convictions to prove your point, or admit you’re just a leftist shill (actually, don’t bother-we know.)

          1. Whatever crimes Trump or his Organization may be convicted of, I know you will agree with Trump that he has been railroaded. You will never accept any guilty verdict. Turley will. You’ll see.

            1. I and others have asked for examples. For all of your accusations you have zero potential crimes. It’s almost like you are allergic to facts.

              1. Iowan says:

“I and others have asked for examples. For all of your accusations you have zero potential crimes. It’s almost like you are allergic to facts.”

I don’t claim that Trump’s prosecution is a foregone conclusion. It’s not surprising you are clueless as to his potential legal liabilities because you watch only Rightwing media. Fox News, like this blog, largely ignores the investigations into Trump not unlike how the MSM ignored Hunter’s laptop. Each side knows how to keep an audience.

      2. Corporate media provided minimum coverage of Trump-family scandals and allegations of serious criminal conduct.

Could you list a couple of those crimes? The left has a uncontrollable twitch that has them arguing from a conclusion that never existed. Such as X committed a crime. But then never identify the action that would be a crime. Same with the extremely undefinable “scandal”

    3. Concerned Citizen, if you are so surprised, don’t be. I think you mistook the comments reproduced from WaPo and the Hill and thought Turley was saying those things. Did I miss something or is the typical misreading of the written word by those unfamiliar with the educated mind?

  7. If a Chinese man driving a Chinese car causes a chain-reaction, multi-car, multi-vehicle collision that stretches around the world and does $50 trillion worth of death and damage in 195 counties, is that Chinese man and his Chinese insurance company responsible for death and damages, and responsible for recompense and remuneration, and would courts, in any or all of the 195 related nations, find that?

  8. OT

If China arbitrarily and unilaterally abrogates Taiwan’s secession, and seizes that nation, may Great Britain arbitrarily and unilaterally abrogate America’s secession, and seize that nation?

If China revises international law with reference to national conquest, may any and all other nations avail themselves of “new” territory at their will and pleasure.

If one doesn’t stand for something, will one fall for anything?

    Do democrats/liberals cheat in elections?

    – 3 million illegal aliens must have been “compassionately repatriated,” or deported, in 1863; rather, they were illegally and unconstitutionally transformed into democrat/liberal voters.

    – Lyndon Baines Johnson paid $22+ trillion in his “Great Society” “War on Poverty” to assure that the unconstitutional, illegal alien, black voting block would continue “…voting democratic for the next 200 years.”

    – Illegal cross-border immigration from Mexico and its corollary, illegal/unconstitutional “amnesty,” have substantially increased antithetical, anti-Constitution, anti-American, entitlement-seeking votes.

    – The United States Code, as prescribed by the Constitution, requires that elections begin and end within the 24 hours of “the day,” Tuesday, making vote-by-mail unconstitutional and illegal – “the day,” “the [whole] day,” and nothing but “the day,” so help you God.

    2 U.S. Code § 7 – Time of election

The Tuesday next after the 1st Monday in November, in every even numbered year, is established as the day for the election, in each of the States and Territories of the United States, of Representatives and Delegates to the Congress commencing on the 3d day of January next thereafter.

    – Ballot Harvesting to include distribution, assistance and delivering ballots is ubiquitous and criminal:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmBJPMas8I0

    – Democrats stole the 1960 election from Nixon with help from Mob allies of Joe Kennedy and allies of LBJ in Texas; Wikipedia was forced to make admissions in its historical accounts.

“According to some sources, Giancana and the Mafia were involved in John F. Kennedy’s victory in the 1960 presidential election. During the 1960s, he was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in a plot to assassinate Cuban leader Fidel Castro. Conspiracy theorists consider Giancana along with Mafia leaders Santo Trafficante Jr. and Carlos Marcello associated with the assassination of Kennedy.”

“Some Republicans believed that Kennedy had benefited from vote fraud, especially in Texas, where his running mate Lyndon B. Johnson was senator, and Illinois, home of Mayor Richard Daley’s powerful Chicago political machine.[71] These two states were important because if Nixon had carried both, he would have earned 270 electoral votes, one more than the 269 needed to win the presidency. Republican senators such as Everett Dirksen and Barry Goldwater claimed vote fraud “played a role in the election”,[70] and that Nixon actually won the national popular vote.”

    – Democrats/liberals promote fewer actual American voters through abortion and decreased fertility; the American fertility rate is in a “death spiral” with more Americans dying than being born as increasing numbers of illegal aliens are being allowed to vote.

    Do democrats/liberals cheat in elections?

    Yes.

    1. Let’s point out that this poster is saying that black votes are illegal by their nature. This is a commonly held belief among Rs.

      1. “Crazy Abe” Lincoln taught Americans that they must obey only the laws they like.

In a society of laws, “Crazy Abe” Lincoln egregiously violated laws:

        – Denial of constitutional secession

        – Perpetration of unconstitutional war

        – Unconstitutional suspension of habeas corpus.

        – Denial of constitutional rights and freedoms

        – Failure to execute constitutional duty to “compassionately repatriate” freed slaves per moral imperative and Naturalization Act of 1802, which required citizens to be “…free white person(s)….” in the case of

the Naturalization Act of 1802 v. Emancipation Proclamation 1863
        ____________________________________________________

        Naturalization Act of 1802

United States Congress, “An act to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization,” March 26, 1790

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That any Alien being a free white person, who shall have resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for the term of two years, may be admitted to become a citizen thereof

      2. The impossible mixing of unassimilable “oil and water” requires the wholly unconstitutional political emulsifiers, including, but not limited to, matriculation affirmative action, grade-inflation affirmative action, employment affirmative action, quotas, welfare, food stamps, minimum wage, rent control, social services, forced busing, public housing, utility subsidies, WIC, SNAP, TANF, HAMP, HARP, TARP, HHS, HUD, Agriculture, Education, Labor, Obamacare, Social Security, Social Security Disability, Social Security Supplemental Income, Medicare, Medicaid, “Fair Housing” laws, “Non-Discrimination” laws, etc.

Communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats, RINOs) have transformed the referenced illegal immigration and the related votes into unmerited, absurd and expensive favor, “benefits,” and “entitlements” – expensive for actual Americans for the largest part of a century and terminal for a rational society.

No matter the vote, the Constitution holds dominion, as it severely limits government.

The dominion of the Constitution has been abrogated in order to facilitate its insinuation across borders, as illegal and illegitimate immigration, and the dominion of the minority, aka:

“From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

        – Karl Marx
        _________

The point you deliberately miss is that Abraham Lincoln ignored fundamental law, U.S. Code and statutory law because he disliked and disagreed with those bodies of law.

Lincoln’s lesson to America is: Break the law if you don’t like the law.

The Founders established a society of laws.

        1. Wow you answered a question I thought had no answer 😉

How did the irrational, despicable, morons that called themselves The Lincoln Project come up with a diatribe to bastardize the name of Lincoln?

          Cheers!

Now go back in your hole along with the other Marxists that have no soul and even less between the ears.

You are what you sow and the festering dung you have planted has moved all those previously in the center to the right…

Well done! You have illustrated just how a political party should act in order to destroy itself!

          1. It was a lie you made up or heard from another idiot. That is what you do best, lie and deceive.

        1. The comment is that America is a communist nation because of Lincoln’s illegal, unconstitutional zeal, and his love of Karl Marx and his Communist Manifesto.*

Lincoln overthrew the Constitution and the constitutional freedom established by the Founders in 1789.

The comment is that illegal aliens have been imported by democrats to change elections for centuries.

Oh, and what abused abductees don’t want one, simple thing: To go home?

No sane person could support slavery.

America should not have been destroyed because of something everyone fundamentally detested.

The comment is that the law should have been obeyed and an alternative solution created for slavery.

The comment is that democrats cheat.

  10. Turley: you literally should be ashamed of yourself, but that fat paycheck from Fox makes up for a conscience, obviously. There is no ginned-up scandal you can come up with that even begins to compare to the slob you are paid to defend, beginning with Russia helping Trump cheat to gain enough Electoral College votes to defeat the will of the American people. He refused to cooperate with the investigation, but then tried to claim he was “vindicated”. He wasn’t. You can’t be “vindicated” if you prevented investigation of the full facts, and that’s exactly what the Mueller Report said, but your pal, Bill Barr, lied about.

Fox has spent a lot of money on your efforts to juice up a “Hunter Biden scandal” that just doesn’t have legs. It was revealed that Giuliani dreamed up this fake “scandal” after Trump did so poorly in the presidential debates. The plot was to come up with some salacious material that Trump would spring on Biden at the second debate, thinking it would throw him off his game. It didn’t work. Trump came across as what he is: a braggadocious liar and bully. Where’s the proof that the “diary” belonged to Ashley Biden?

But the big bonus today is Turley once again going after mainstream media, while ignoring the antics of his employer and other pro-Trump and pro-ReTrumplican media that do nothing but lie about Trump’s failures and attack Joe Biden and his family. When are you going to address the Big Lie that Trump and Republicans keep on telling? When are you going to comment about them using the Big Lie to fund-raise, or go after Marjorie Taylor-Greene, who has actually suggested we have a second Civil War, when she’s not blaming wildfires on Jewish space lasers or chasing school shooting victims down the street and accusing them of being plants by anti gun lobbyists?

Here’s a little bottom line for you Turley: what, where, when or how did Biden engage in any wrongdoing, to anything close to the extent that Trump did? Did he ever brag about grabbing womens’ genitals, consort with porn stars or nude models, cage young children of migrants to serve as a deterrent to other migrants who might want to come here, lie about Mexico paying to build a wall, issue a travel ban just on Muslims because of their religion, did his campaign feed insider polling information to Russian hackers who used it to cheat to get votes, did he lie about the risks and extent of a deadly pandemic? Did he mount in insurrection after losing the election and after multiple failed lawsuits, failing to bully or coerce election officials to steal votes, tried to prevent the ceremonial acceptance of certified votes, and keep on lying despite all proof that he was wrong? Yes, McClain is right: compared to Trump, this was a scandal-free year, and you’ve come up with nothing to the contrary.

    1. Well, the new year is starting off just fine. I read the first line off Natacha’s rant and realized she’s still reliving the past–and it is not reality. Happy that she writes such a lengthy treatise that I don’t have to read anymore to know what she’s saying.

      1. She??? And all this time I thought Natacha was a Trans Afro Latino Mellano Lesbian… so kind of a Woke Mutt if you will
It makes it easier to simply block IT and that saves having to laugh so hard that your sides hurt.

Turley should take a page out of Twitter and permanently block this TRANS MUTT with his members of the Truth Squad (Real Truth, not FB related horse manure recycled into narrative)

Only then will the editorial replies return once again to some sense of decency and intelligence…

        Just saying

        1. Mescca1994,

If only we could ask what Turley thinks of your comments. Would he agree? Or would he be ashamed? I’m betting the latter.

          1. I think he would say puns are the lowest form of humor, satire the highest, and Leftists and Marxists provide more reasons for the intelligentsia to bust out laughing now more than ever in the history of the world. Their mind boggling moronic narrative driven “reasoning” can only be properly absorbed by brains trashed by years of drug use and smoking dope…

            Just saying (or Turley saying)

      2. Booglheim, you know and I know that Natasha has a fascination with Donald Trump. And deep down inside she envy’s Melania.

        1. But, what have I said that is incorrect or untruthful? Start with that if you’re going to reply in any substantive manner. The off-point personal attacks only prove that you know what I write about is true because you don’t have anything substantive to counter with.

  11. Gee, a fawning press finds no press scandals in Biden Administation? What next? Hillary teaching a Master Class in “what she intended to say if [she} won the 2016 election”? Cue the crazy. I’m holding out for Capt. Edward Smith’s course on “Navigating the North Atlantic in Winter With An Unsinkable Cruise Liner.”

  12. Mass formation psychosis requires a state media to succeed. We have both now 🙁

I never rely on just one side to tell me “the truth.” Multiple sources are how I escape the psychosis.

However, I don’t have time to do fact checking. I need the journalists to do that themselves. If I catch them willfully spreading flat-out lies, I never read them, again. Bye-bye NYT, LA Times, WaPo, HuffPo, Yahoo News… it’s a depressingly long list of exiles.

    1. Yet another shameful example of the awful media … The local “news”paper/sites that do no more for other-than-local “news” than to reprint the WaComPost, the AssPress, NYSlme, etc. In the Albuquerque area I am certain there are some who get their only “news” from the local paper, the Albuquerque Journal, and thus read only these kinds of incorrect and misleading writing. It’s not only the national sources; they pollute the local ones!

      1. Wholly agree. The news on my local affiliates of NBC, ABC are staggeringly selective-fact and selective-story reporting, not to mention that Blacks are now dominating (I ‘m not exaggerating) nearly 100% of television commercials, guest appearances, and stories. If this is pursuant to some sort of settlement agreement with the networks or other understanding, the gross overrepresentation will end in one of two ways: either stations will eventually revert to a more realistic representation of population or they will continue with the propagandistic theme that whites are the new minority. Either way will continue racial tension…

        1. I thought I was the only one who noticed. Yes, you would think that blacks are about 90% of the population if you are forced to watch TV commercials. What does this say about our culture? Raise enough hell in society and you just might come out smelling like a rose for you and your tribe I guess.

          1. (I know that you are not alone, Randy. I think that people are hesitant to speak out for fear of suffering the stigma of appearing racist or anti-Black, -when in reality, it is just a resentment of MEDIA manipulation and slant, -sometimes overt, sometimes subliminal, but always agenda-motivated. Thanks for reading my comment.

            1. You know, Lin, I have to agree. Most commercials now are predominantly black, and I, too, have wondered why this is. I’m not a racist, and I think it is good for commercials to be inclusive, including gay couples, people in wheel chairs and I’ve seen a couple with Down Syndrome children, too, but blacks are definitely over-represented. When did “Jake from State Farm” suddenly become white and why?

              1. I meant to say “when did ‘Jake from State Farm’ ” suddenly go from white to black and why?

    2. Diogenes says:

“However, I don’t have time to do fact checking. I need the journalists to do that themselves. If I catch them willfully spreading flat-out lies, I never read them, again. Bye-bye NYT, LA Times, WaPo, HuffPo, Yahoo News… it’s a depressingly long list of exiles.”

I agree. We don’t have the time to fact-check our news. We come home from work, throw on a feed bag, and chill out in front of our favorite news source. Once, I have been lied to by a broadcast, it is dead to me. This explains why I don’t trust Turley’s Fox News, Newsmax, One America network or Infowars.

These networks are being sued for defamation for promoting the Big Lie. Turley has written about his network being sued for billions, ONCE. I repeat- one time! Nor has he criticized his network for censoring Lou Dobbs. And when several prominent and long-standing Fox employees departed Fox on principle, we hear crickets from Turley.

Turley himself has a pretty good disappearing act!

      1. Alright, Jeff, you got your licks in.

I follow Fox and The Hill because I believe they’re pretty diligent about fact checking, which is why I believe Professor Turley does commentary for both. I disagree with The Hill a lot, but I find them to be pretty good about not printing blatant lies and sometimes reporting things their subscribers don’t want to hear. I wish you would honestly admit the same about Fox.

        1. Why do you wish Jeff to believe Fox? He’s an ideologue who accepts the word of the news media that has been proven wrong repeatedly. On the other hand, he criticizes Fox, which has been substantially correct. Jeff knows that his news sources stink. That is why when caught on an issue of truth, he admits to not knowing much of anything.

        2. Diogenes,

Give me an example of Fox reporting things its viewers do not want to hear. I don’t claim that the MSM is any better than Fox in that regard. Both networks give their respective audiences what they want to hear. I simply claim that Fox has to lie a lot more than the MSM in order to placate and satiste their viewers.

As a loyal and well-paid employee of Fox, Turley is neither impartial nor objective. He would be the first to admit that he is biased in favor of Fox which is why he must reveal the fact that he works for Fox when he discusses matters pertaining to Fox. In the interest of full disclosure, his readers have a right to know where his allegiance lies.

          1. “Give me an example of Fox reporting things its viewers do not want to hear.”

Jeff, you are an idiot. Do you think Chris Wallace is a supporter of Trump? How about Shepard Smith? How about Megan Kelly? How about checking out the daytime shows? How about Neil Cavuto?

I have heard comments on Fox news that various viewers wouldn’t support at one time or another. Trump doesn’t ask for lockstep adherence from the public, but that is the requirement from the left in order not to be shunned or canceled.

Every time you comment, Jeff, you sound more ignorant, demonstrating that law schools need to up their standards.

            1. Those individuals left Fox News so they could say what they wouldn’t say on Fox! Many have abandoned Fox to join the MSM.

              1. People come and go. All of them were on Fox News for years. Fox News will be happy to debate anyone on their channel from the left, but the MSM will not do the same. I don’t listen that much to Fox News or TV, but I hear comments on Fox News that I disagree with. Laura Ingraham asked Rachel Maddow to debate her on a neutral platform. Like you, Rachel Maddow wouldn’t and couldn’t debate her. Most on the left have a problem with debate. They have control over opinion on their networks, but they have no control over the facts in the debate.

You continuously state that Trump lies, but when asked for examples significant to the country and pertinent to the Presidency, you refused. The one time you did (using the only example you had) showed how poorly you understand what you listen to.

Come On Man! [The Ballad Of Sleepy Joe] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkBpQG3FJwU

        1. Yes, I am relieved. And for your interest, I don’t follow everyone on MSNBC. I don’t like Joy Reid. Maddow is often too snarky and paints with a broad brush. I prefer Chris Hayes.

I don’t criticize Turley for what he says about the MSM; I criticize him for his SILENCE about Fox, Newsmax and One America Network. I don’t begrudge him for ignoring Infowars because I would guess Turley thinks it goes without saying that Jones is a lunatic.

          1. Jeff, we are just getting into a new year. Perhaps it is time to let go of your obsession with Professor Turley’s topics and the fact that he is a Fox News contributor. By the way, I seriously doubt that Professor Turley is actually an employee of Fox News.

            1. Cassidy,

Whatever you want to call him, a contributor or an employee, it would not surprise me were he paid more money to work for Fox than at GW law school. Turley would be the first to acknowledge that he must expose his financial relationship with Fox whenever he comments about his network (which he rarely does for obvious reasons). He knows that his readers should be allowed to draw their own conclusions as to whether he is too compromised to make impartial judgments about Fox.

It is no coincidence that Turley has NEVER criticized Fox News specifically (he did fault Hannity and Pirro once for attending a Trump rally). His bias in favor of Fox is unmistakable.

          2. Jeff, Professor Turley also has commentary published in USA Today and The Hill on a regular basis. They both lean left, to me at least.

  13. Off topic. Decided to try and watch an NFL game. On comes a message about social justice. Decided I had something better to do with my time. No thank you.

    1. Did you miss the black so-called anthem? Or did that broadcast intentionally not broadcast it – lest the true “color” of the NFL and its teams be displayed?

  14. Where are the journalists? This is the era in journalism where their pens were used as political weapons, to fire at the target of will or remain holstered, according to orders or ideology.

  15. I encourage all to read the whole Al Hunt column to get a better understanding of what he is trying to convey. The scandal free part was focused on the the cabinet heads and White House staff. To take that part of the column as an excuse to focus on the the alleged Biden children misdeeds is a bit of a stretch.

    1. Fine. Then focus on the scandal that is the Cackling Queen’s staff in open revolt.

      1. Sam, rumor has it the oval office staff is ready to start peeling off, also. They are done trying to make the demential riddled Biden seem sentient. We’ll watch here in January if the rumors are true.

  17. What party are the media oligarchs contributing to? https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/bill-melinda-gates-foundation/totals. https://www.opensecrets.org/donor-lookup/results?name=jack+dorsey. Steve Chen, one of the founders of YouTube is a heavy contributor to high ranking Democratic politicians. Those on the left are always screaming about the country being controlled by the oligarchs. They are correct in their concerns. One thing that they get wrong is not understanding that today’s media oligarchs are of a leftist persuasion. Just like the oligarchs in Russia and China who want to control what you read and hear. Vote while you still can.

    1. Thinkitthrough: “Vote while you still can.”

We have probably voted many times in each election without knowing it and we will keep voting–Democrat of course–when we are gone.
