Oregon Police Do NOT Taser Naked Man

raymond+robersonRaymond Lawrence Roberson, 70, first threatened to blow up his van, threatened anyone who came near him, paraded around with a rifle, and then shutdown a highway after barricading himself in his van. When he emerged, he stripped naked and was tackled by police. The most amazing and redeeming aspect of this story is what the police did not do: they did not shoot him or use a taser. They simply subdued the man with the least possible force.

Man Steals Painting of Virgin Mary to Pay For Abortion For an Underaged Girl He Raped

170px-VladimirskayaIf I recall correctly from my high school preparatory seminary, there are venial sinners and mortal sinners, but we might have to find a third category for Aurelio Vallerillo-Sanchez, 39. He was convicted of stealing a 300-year-old painting of the Virgin Mary to pay for an abortion for a teenage girl whom he is accused of raping. That should cover the bases for a one-way ticket to the hot zone.

Taliban Cut Off Fingers of Women Voting in National Elections

250px-Election-2004The Taliban has made good on its horrific promise to cut off the fingers of people with the tell-tale dye stains on their fingers after voting in the national elections. This does not surprise me about these extremists who believe any atrocity in the name of Allah is permitted. What astonishes me is that the Afghan government continues to use the dye technique when it allows for such retaliation.
