The U.S. Capitol Police Makes It Official: Congress Can Be Legally Obscene

Yesterday, the U.S. Capitol Police announced that there would be no criminal charges after a former aide to Sen. Ben Cardin (D., Md) filmed a porn scene in Room 216 in the Hart Senate Office Building.  Aidan Maese-Czeropski filmed his having sex with his partner from the members seats. It turns out that it is not even a misdemeanor to shoot a porn scene in a Senate hearing room and then post it on the Internet. The decision officially confirms for many that Congress can be legally obscene. Continue reading “The U.S. Capitol Police Makes It Official: Congress Can Be Legally Obscene”

Code Pink or “Pinko Commies”? Pelosi Wants the FBI to Find Out

We discussed earlier how former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told CNN that the pro-Palestinian protesters outside her house could be Putin “plants” and called for a new Russian investigation. Now Code Pink, a far left group, has pushed back to defend their protests as Pelosi again calls for a federal investigation into protest groups and their funding.

Shush! L.A. Times Editor Asks “Departees” Not to Criticize California on Their Way Out

In an editorial fit for The Onion or the Babylon Bee, Los Angeles Times’ letters editor Paul Thornton wrote a column this week entitled “If you want to leave, fine. But don’t insult California on the way out.” The column acknowledges an exodus from the state, but sees the problem as former Californians sharing their experiences about what drove them from the Golden State. It is like Captain William Bligh asking the mutinous crew of the Bounty for a reference as they head for the lifeboats.

Celebrating Sylvania: NPS Moves to Remove Statue of Penn

We have been discussing the removal of statues nationwide from cities and colleges. The National Park Service is now receiving fire over a plan to remove the statue of William Penn from a Philadelphia park commemorating his founding of Pennsylvania. The park is near his former home. The Biden Administration is explaining that removing Penn from a park in Pennsylvania will “provide a more welcoming, accurate, and inclusive experience for visitors.” Nothing says Sylvania like a Penn-free park.

New York To Sue Bus Companies … For Busing People

New York City Major Eric Adams announced on Thursday that he is suing bus companies for over $700 million for busing undocumented persons to the state. This is truly a thing to behold. It is a frivolous lawsuit based on an absurd law motivated by raw hypocrisy. In the meantime, the Biden Administration has been flying migrants to outside the city but no lawsuit is expected.

AI Did It: Disbarred Michael Cohen Admits to Sending Fake Case Citations to Get Early Release from Supervision

C-Span/YouTube Screenshot

Michael Cohen, former President Trump’s onetime fixer and lawyer, has admitted to a federal court that he was the source of fake case citations used to support his effort to end his supervised release from his earlier criminal convictions. He blamed Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the error, he also seemed to throw his own attorney under the bus for not checking his work. Das Kapital 2.0: New Republic Editor Declares Socialism is Simply Bargain Sales

The New Republic’s  contributing editor and Guardian columnist Osita Nwanevu had a curious posting this week as he offered a new definition of socialism for the public: socialism is simply cheaper products. Even Dell apparently is a socialist enterprise under Nwanevu’s new take. Capitalism? Anything that is too expensive. In other words, voters should elect socialists if they like sales.

Harvard Professor Sued for Allegedly Inseminating Woman With His Own Sperm

There is an interesting case out of Harvard where OBGYN professor and founder of Boston IVF, Dr. Merle Berger, is being sued for allegedly inseminating a woman with his own sperm. It is reminiscent of the case of Dr. Donald Cline who was accused of impregnating dozens of women with his own sperm. Yale Awards 80 Percent of Grades in the A Range

We recently discussed the runaway grade inflation at Harvard where roughly 80 percent of grades were As. Now the Yale Daily News is reporting the same percentage of As. Indeed, the percentage is virtually identical. Harvard is handing out 79 percent agrees where Yale is apparently more rigorous at 78.9.The report is apparently an embarrassment to the university since the dean of Yale College said that professors are not adhering to guidelines for grading. Oklahoma Woman Charged with Murder After Giving Elderly Mother the Gun Used in Suicide

Years ago, we discussed the controversial case of Michele Carter, a teenager convicted of murder after encouraging a friend to commit suicide. The case raised difficult free speech questions. Now there is another equally troubling case out of Oklahoma, though the criminal charges should be less controversial. Jaye Dee Watts, 44, (shown here with an apt shirt reading “Dogs: Because People Suck”) is charged with giving her 72-year-old mother a handgun after berating her and saying “Do with it what you f***ing will, b—h.” Her mother, Lynda Watts, then killed herself. “Denial Ain’t Just a River in Egypt”: Panetta Repeats Debunked Russian Disinformation Claims on Laptop

Last night, many of us responded to the statement of Leon Panetta, former CIA Director in the Obama Administration, that he “has no regrets” about signing the now infamous letter of 51 former intelligence officials suggesting that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation. Even more unsettling were his comments that he believes it could still be Russian disinformation. It turns out that even with American intelligence, the media, and Hunter Biden himself acknowledging authenticity, it can still be Russian disinformation. Panetta has become the personification of the economic theory of path dependence. No matter how much countervailing evidence is presented to Panetta, he still refuses to accept the authenticity of the laptop.
